Went for second breakfast with company owner, had eggs and Uncle Bills sourdough French toast, was very good. Service was attentive and there right when needed. Love the history of this place with all the photos and how it's been part of MB for so long staying true to origin. Can get loud when full, though has outdoor seating as well. Dog friendly in the outdoor seating too. Will return again!

I'm giving Uncle Bill's Pancake House 4 stars mainly because of the service. It took almost 20 minutes just for someone to take our order, even though there was no wait to get seated and the place didn't seem that busy--we waited about 10-15 minutes before being seated. Once we finally ordered though, the food actually came out pretty fast. The food itself was really good, especially the burgers we got--they were definitely the highlight of the meal. The ambience was okay, nothing too special but still a decent spot for a casual meal. Overall, good food but the service timing could be improved.

Both my husband and I agreed that this was the best breakfast we have ever had! The eggs with cheese were amazing and the patio was amazing to sit on! Thank you Uncle Bills for great service and amazing food!

Wonderful breakfast spot super close to the beach! We were greeted warmly as soon as we entered and our orders were taken within 5 minutes. I ordered the bacon and eggs with sourdough toast and hashed browns and my husband ordered the Santa Fe omelet with pancakes. Our server was very attentive and smiley. Our orders came out quickly and I was pleased that the bacon was super crispy and the hashed browns well charred! Add to that the Cholula at every table and I was set! My husband enjoyed his omelet as well. If we lived closer, this would be a favorite spot!

This cute place definitely gives good bang for your buck in terms of portion sizes. I ordered the Expo 73 Omelet ($19.50) and upgraded to the Banana nut pancakes ($3 upcharge). The omelet was packed with ham, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, onions, and American cheese topped with a meat sauce and sour cream. I asked for the hashbrowns extra crispy and they were indeed perfectly crispy! The banana nut pancakes were a good size and topped with a heaping pile of fresh banana slices and crumbled walnuts ... the $3 upcharge was worth it! Could only finish half, so took the other portion and ate it for breakfast the next day. I would come back again to try other things, but I docked a star because of the parking situation. Took a while to find parking because it's a busy street, but it's right next to the beach and a beautiful location.

My lady took me here for my birthday breakfast and never been to Manhattan Beach before. First the view was a million dollar view from our table. Then staff was excellent very engaging the whole time. The pancakes was so fluffy and potatoes was yummy. Kelly was our server brought out these banana muffins with creamy butter wow. She had omelette with bacon and looked yummy. The coffee was really good and the price was decent too.

HEARTY FOOD WITH AN OCEAN VIEW Met a friend for breakfast here on a late Tuesday morning around 11AM. It's in the heart of Manhattan Beach, so parking can be challenging. We missed the crowds on both ends once we parked and promptly scored a fantastic table on the patio with a sliver of an ocean view. Service was friendly and attentive. The pancakes at another table were GINORMOUS. Given the name of this place, I probably should have ordered them, but my pal wasn't interested. Instead, I opted for the Sausage and Eggs for $17.00, which came with two muffins, blueberry or chocolate chip. I ate the blueberry one, which was delicious and took home the chocolate chip one to enjoy the next day. Everything is big here! My meal consisted of a huge portion of perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, nice and crispy hash browns, and a few tasty sausages. After this wonderful massive meal, I didn't need much for the rest of the day. My companion liked her ample hot oatmeal ($10.50) and English Breakfast Tea ($4). When the sun came out, the waiter immediately put up an umbrella to shade us. It was so lovely here that we lingered over our drinks and relished the view. Inside is equally adorable. Thanks, Uncle Bill for this idyllic, funky pancake haven.

Uncle bills pancake house is a great breakfast / brunch spot in manhattan beach. It's in a prime location where it's situated in the heart of the area and a walkable spot to the nearby beach. I came here with a large group and thankfully only had about a 5 minute wait. We were sat inside and service was prompt. Prices are pretty reasonable and they even had specials for the week that was hanging from the wall. I ordered the French toast combo with scrambled eggs and sausage. I had really wanted hash downs as well so my friend got the egg combo with a beef patty and we were able to share. Everything was delicious. I felt satisfied once we were done.

Great breakfast place both the food and service. Wait time wasn't crazy went in 12pm with a party of 5 and sat within 10 minutes. The ambiance is pretty loud since it's a pretty tight space and lots of customers. Pricing for this breakfast spot is fair and the serving sizes are large! Would definitely come back again!

super cute place, could rlly feel the history with all the photos on the wall. my french toast was delicious and my boyfriend enjoyed his pancakes. the hashbrowns were INCREDIBLE. so crispy! the breakfast sandwich was fine, but wouldn't get it again. all in all a great spot!

Uncle Bill's is def a staple that I've wanted to try for a while after hearing so many great reviews. It offers a decent amount of paid parking around, but the wait, especially on the weekends, can be overly long. The menu was vast with a lot of good options, and the pancakes were pretty decent, along with the meat and egg selections that were offered. It would probably be a while before I go again, but I'm glad I was able to try it out.

I had a great experience here. Outdoor seating was open, our server was attentive, and the food was delish! Not to mention you can see the ocean from the outdoor seating, the vibes are great and I'll definitely be coming back:)

Pancakes were soft and they were good . I wasn't a fan of the hash browns tasted a bit like oil . It was a beautiful day in manhattan beach today . I also didn't really want to explore any other pancakes I wanted to try the classics and then go from there . We arrived right at 7 so service was fast . There is also a little breakfast area inside in case you are solo it's great to sit and chat with other solo eaters . I'll stop by another time .

There was a seat available right away, and I sat down immediately. Unfortunately, that's where the good part ended. The waitress walked past me at least 15-20 times without acknowledging me -- no greeting, no offer of coffee, nothing. I was completely ignored. The busboy ended up being the one who took my order. I ordered chicken fried steak with eggs over medium and wheat toast. What I received was chicken fried steak, scrambled eggs, and white toast. The gravy on the chicken fried steak was very thin and almost transparent -- definitely not the hearty country gravy you'd expect. To be fair, the coffee was decent, and even though I didn't order them, the scrambled eggs were soft and cooked well. But getting the order wrong and feeling overlooked the entire time overshadowed any positives. The waitress seemed far more focused on regular customers and had a very cold demeanor toward anyone new. I understand taking care of regulars, but basic courtesy and attention should apply to everyone. Overall, a disappointing experience. I won't be returning.

I'm almost always disappointed in restaurant coffee but these guys had some premium brew going. And they kept the pot circulating around. The last time we were here, it was during a busy lunch and both the service and the food were below par. But tonight, it wasn't as busy and our server, Geovani, was excellent. First, we were quickly greeted and asked to select our table (since they were not that busy). Since there was only two of us, we picked a table for two. But, after we decided that we would split an appetizer and an entree, the table for two became way to small way too quickly. Geovani jumped right on this, suggesting we move to a larger table. He helped us move everything over and, voila, we were able to stretch out and relax and enjoy our meal. We started with the pear and blue cheese salad and, wow, we could have just ordered this, split it, and we would have been full. Very flavorful, generous portion that is definitely big enough to share. We also ordered the Sausage & Leek Fettuccine and I was definitely not thinking. Totally forgetting that leeks are part of the onion family (and I have a sensativity to onions). Once the dish arrive, I immediately noticed the similarity and was slowly trying to pick them away from my portion. Once again, Geovani came to our rescue. He asked how everything was and I told him I made a mistake (noted above). He quickly volunteered to have the kitchen make it again without the leeks. I asked, "Are you sure?", and he immediately said yes and removed the dish. Very shortly after, he returned with the "onion sterile" dish and it was wonderful. Both of us were so full you could have rolled us out the door. Good thing the parking garage is so close so we could just hop in our car and go home. Time to loosen the belt! ;) In a week where we have had some personal issues, it was so nice to be treated so well and received such a great tasting meal. Hope you get the time to stop in and I hope you get Giovani to answer all your questions and issues. Enjoy!!!

We ordered 2 coffee, classic eggs benedict with hashbrowns, and the porkchop with eggs with hashbrowns and a side of buttermilk pancakes. We saw everyone else's food being brought out to their tables, and it all looked pretty good (especially the omelets). Our food took a little longer to arrive, and people who ordered after us received their food first, but it wasn't a big deal. The coffee was watery, and no amount of sugar or creamer could help it. And to think it was $5.49. We finally got our food, and unfortunately, it was not good. The Eggs Benedict ($17.99) was the first disappointment. I took a bite and immediately tasted something sour when I started chewing it. At first I thought it was just the ham, but I'm not entirely sure, since it was covered in hollandaise sauce. It also lacked flavor overall. The only thing I liked was the poached eggs. The pork chop with eggs ($18.99) was extremely dry, difficult to chew, and very bland. It didn't seem seasoned at all. We ordered a side of gravy to help, but I didn't realize it cost an extra $3. I wouldn't have ordered it had I known, especially since it didn't improve the taste or texture of the pork chop. The pancakes were oddly eggy and didn't taste like pancakes at all. As for the hash browns, I didn't realize hash browns could taste bad, but these were mushy and almost slimy. Half of them were heavily seasoned, while the other half was bland. Even the ketchup didn't help because it only made them mushier. Overall, the server was nice, but I wouldn't come back here for the food.

It's in between a traditional breakfast restaurant and a diner, and some things I love about it are it has friendly and quick service, a giant menu, and great food. Inside is pretty large so it can host many different sized groups, and has booth and table seating. Parking in the area can be a bit tricky, we found a metered street spot a block away, but you may have to circle a few times before finding a spot. For this visit, I chose the Crab & Avocado Benedict because those are two of my two favorite things combined, so it was a no-brainer to order. The crab was very tasty and the hollandaise was made perfectly and overall it was a great dish. I also ordered a side of fruit and they really did not skimp on the fruit quality, they gave me banana, watermelon, grapes, and didn't just throw the melon and cantaloupe at me. Overall, a great breakfast option and I plan to be back many times in the future.

I was dining on the patio with a friend and my service dog. At the time, there were only a couple of other occupied tables, so the restaurant was not busy. Our server, Allison, was repeatedly distracted by a young child from another table instead of attending to her customers. I even have video showing her spending significant time playing with and following the child around while we waited for service. When our food finally arrived, it was brought by another employee and my order was incorrect. I sent it back twice, and after waiting with no follow-up from Allison, I eventually had to go inside the restaurant myself to ask for assistance because she had not checked on us. When Allison finally came outside, I simply asked to have my meal boxed to go because the experience had already been so disappointing. What happened next was completely unacceptable. A man who was not our server--and who I later learned was apparently the husband of another waitress--came outside and began verbally attacking us. He yelled at us, threw wads of money at us, and told us to leave. He even made comments implying that no one wanted us there because we had a dog and were seated on the patio. No customer should ever be treated this way, especially by someone who wasn't even serving the table. Angel, the assistant manager, tried to help, but unfortunately the situation had already escalated far beyond what should ever happen in a restaurant. I seriously considered calling the police because of how aggressive the confrontation became. After leaving, I called the restaurant and spoke with Angel. I requested that the general manager contact me about the incident. That call was recorded, and despite being told someone would follow up, I never received a call. Everyone can have a bad night, but this went far beyond poor service. It involved incorrect food, inattentive service, an aggressive confrontation by someone who should never have been involved, and a complete lack of follow-up from management. I sincerely hope Marmalade Cafe reviews its customer service standards and its policies regarding who is permitted to confront guests. No customer should ever leave feeling humiliated or verbally attacked after simply trying to have dinner.
