    Deviled Eggs

The Irish inn at Glen Echo has very quickly become one of my favorite places to go, and this last visit really sealed the deal for me. From the moment we sat down, everything just felt welcoming and relaxed. Our server Damien absolutely made the night. I don't usually say I have a "favorite" server anywhere, but now I definitely do. He's just one of those people who makes you feel like he genuinely cares that you're having a good time. He gave us spot-on suggestions, checked in just enough without being overbearing, and was so friendly and easy to talk to. It makes such a difference when the service is that good, and it's a big part of why we'll keep coming back. The food was outstanding. We started with the potato leek soup, which was rich, creamy, and perfectly seasoned--honestly one of the best I've had. We also shared the deviled eggs, and they were such a fun and tasty appetizer. Both dishes were great for sharing, and they came out quickly, still fresh and flavorful. I love when appetizers don't feel like an afterthought, and these definitely didn't. The atmosphere is another reason this place is so special. The night we went, there was live music playing outside, which really added to the whole experience. It wasn't too loud, just the right amount of energy and fun. We sat inside this time, but now that the weather is finally getting nicer, we can't wait to try sitting outside. It looks like the perfect setup for a laid-back night with good food, good music, and just a great vibe all around. Between the delicious food, the amazing service from Damien, and the cozy but lively atmosphere, The Irishman really hits all the marks for a great night out. It feels like the kind of place where you can just as easily come for a casual dinner with friends as you could for a special occasion, and that's rare. Five stars without hesitation--I already know this is going to be one of our go-to spots moving forward.

Food was great. Fish and chips were light and crispy. Tots were a little greasy. Salads were huge. Fast service.

I keep trying, but man this place needs new management. Food is mediocre, service is surly and unfriendly ( at least to anyone under 60). They pour a decent Guinness, and the live music outs great, but I'll only return for dinner when I hear they have made major changes.

Great food and homey atmosphere. The only things that are holding back a higher score for me was the strange interaction that we had at the hostess stand and the hot and humid temperature of the bar. My son and his girlfriend met me at Glen Echo to walk around. We decided that we were hungry and The Irish Inn is conveniently located in walking distance from the park. When we walked in, the woman at the hostess stand ignored us for an uncomfortable amount of time then... just looked at me. I finally asked if we could just grab a seat in the bar and she said "if you can find a spot." Fine. We went and sat down. The bartender was cool and jovial, so I just let it go. The bar area is very homey and a fun pub atmosphere. They've got some great beers on tap as well as the standard fare that you'd expect at an Irish pub. If the place wasn't so warm and muggy, it would have been great. Our food was fantastic. Very flavorful and nicely presented. I got the Shepherds Pie, which should be made with mined lamb; this was made with minced beef so it's actually a Cottage Pie. I knew that going in so I was happy with it. The flavor and preparation were amazing. And even the salad that came with it was above expectation. The Irish Inn is a very good spot. The attitude when walking in greatly affected my experience. I'd go back, but next time I'll just walk straight through the bar door and dress lighter.

This local community Pub is like eating/hanging in your home. Everyone knows each other and the bar/dining seating is nice and cozy. David is an excellent bartender and is extra attentive to all your needs. He makes the best Margarita and the all the food is simple and hearty. I had a Reuben with Fries. The bread was toasted just right with Coleslaw, Corned Beef, Swiss. The Wholegrain Mustard with Irish Whiskey is a must to add into your Sandwich. If you are coming through the Glen Echo Neighborhood and need a place to stop and eat, don't miss coming here. The ambience is quiet, peaceful, and the inside decor has a vintage look that makes it feel more comfortable.

2 days in a row and going back tomorrow that's how dang good it is! The service from Damian is always amazing and Patrick the manager is awesome as well! The place is immaculate and so clean. We had the crab artichoke dip, fish and chips and the shepherds pie and of course with a straw lol. Oh and I forgot my purse the night before and thank goodness they are such nice people they kept it safe for me until the next day

A Spectacular Journey Through Washington, D.C…read more The views throughout Washington, D.C. are nothing short of breathtaking. I started by taking in the skyline from a rooftop, which set the tone for what would become a truly unforgettable tour. The vantage point from the Marine Corps Memorial was powerful and inspiring, with Arlington Cemetery stretching solemnly behind it, reminding me of the deep history and sacrifice embedded in this city. Standing at the Lincoln Memorial, I was able to see the iconic sweep of the National Mall, the Washington Monument rising proudly in the distance. Walking down toward it, every step felt like strolling through the center of American history. Cutting across to the Jefferson Memorial, I was greeted by a beautiful structure perfectly reflected in the surrounding waters--absolutely outstanding. From there, I could look back across the Mall and glimpse the White House anchored in the heart of the capital. That view alone was gorgeous. Approaching the Washington Monument up close was awe-inspiring, its height dominating the city's horizon. The next day, I continued this incredible journey by seeing the White House from all sides--the north, the west, and the south--each angle offering a different look at one of the most recognizable buildings in the world. Finally, strolling down the streets lined with federal institutions--from the Department of Labor, to the IRS, to the Securities and Exchange Commission--really showcased the power and importance of the nation's government at work. And as a perfect finale, I arrived at the magnificent Capitol Building on Capitol Hill, standing proudly above it all. From start to finish, the views around Washington, D.C. are stunning, historical, and moving--a visual reminder of the incredible story of America.

We got a blueberry pop tart, and some raspberry scones, along with a chocolate covered vanilla cupcake. Yummy! The only problem is that Henry's is not just a dessert bakery - the store may appear tiny on the outside, but it's huge on the inside. In addition to the bakery, they got all kinds of candy and other goodies for sale. I gotta stop back in another day and try all the other good stuff inside. Plus, you can tell from the Rick Astley-inspired sign outside, Henry's has a great sense of humor. This is exactly what small business brings to the neighborhood. All of it was DELICIOUS! The small sundaes were huge! Kids could not finish them and at $7ish each hard to beat for the quality! I had an eggnog cupcake. I was not sure it would be good but whatever magic y'all put in it worked great together! The frosting was light and fluffy not too sweet not too bland. And the cake was moist, not crumbly, not heavy just perfect! Had a latte with soymilk because my belly does not care for milk in coffee. Local coffee company supplies the beans. Both visits I had were excellent. They have a proper Irish draft list plus some others, and they pour a nice pint. I had bangers and mash my first night and the sausage was some of the best I've had. There was a good mound of mash and the gravy was dark and rich. I appreciated the onions added on too. Night two I got shepherd's pie and was quite happy. Rich sauce and mildly charred mash on top made for a fine meal. I'd gladly order the sausages again and would love to come back for the fish and chips. Worth noting: the service is excellent. Anne Marie is a saint dealing with...err...serving various personalities. Plus there was World Cup all over the TVs. The vibe is excellent Irish pub. I really hope we can go back again. She Said: I was happy that He agreed (happily agreed) to return to The Celtic House because I would have been bummed to miss out. I had the chicken pot pie which is darn near impossible for me to resist. Outside of my own and my dear Aunt Peggy's, this was some of the best pot pie I've had. The gravy was the right thickness, the chicken wasn't over cooked (which is hard to pull off in this format), and the puff pastry on top was light and fluffy but with enough oomph to it to hold up to the gravy. The only thing I'd change was more veggies in the dish, but that's my personal preference. As he noted, the service was terrific and I appreciated the aplomb with which our bartender managed her patrons. Potty Points: No trip to the potty for me on this visit!
