My husband and I came to southern Maryland for long weekend, and we came here for lunch. We loved the experience here! We sat by the window where there was a beautiful view by the water. The staff here were very welcoming and professional. We loved all the dishes we ordered. The fish of the day was so fresh and tasty. We highly recommend it to anyone who visits the area!

The service was quick and the dining area was nice and clean. My husband and I both ordered the fish tacos, and they were delicious! The fries that came with the tacos were really good, too. The fish on the tacos was flaky and very flavorful. Would come here again!

About a 1-1.5: The Island Hideaway is a family-owned and -operated restaurant in Solomon's Island - their menu is pretty extensive, offering various apps, soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas, entrees, and kid options. We stopped by while we were in the area to have a late lunch - we ordered: +the Seafood Cannelloni - stuffed with shrimp, crab, and ricotta in a housemade pasta, baked, and topped with a choice of cabernet marinara or Parm alfredo sauce; you can also do half and half!; this was actually a pretty okay dish, with the sauces being thick and creamy; the best part, however, as the side of garlic bread that was super garlicky and had a nice crisp to it - amazing when dipping in the sauce! The cannelloni itself was okay, but the seafood filling was a bit overcooked, making both the shrimp bits and the crab rubbery +the Crab Cake Dinner - you can choose 1 or 2 5oz crabcakes; served with a choice of 2 sides; we went for the House Salad and the Skinny Fries; the salad that was served had old/wrinkled tomatoes; just couldn't see why a restaurant would serve something like that to its patrons; we were excited for the crabcakes, but they were less than mediocre; the hot sauce that they had was not a good complement at all; fries were not seasoned at all and forgettable Service was fine, and the place is dim-lit and slightly cramped - if you're sitting at one of the tables set in an angular way, you're bound to be constantly bumped into by the passing service staff and patrons. Gravel parking available, as well as street parking. +garlic bread with cabernet marinara & Parm alfredo sauce +avoid the crabcakes +avoid the salads +ample parking

Excellent seafood and an excellent view. This place is a must-try. The food is excellent, and the service is great. This place is popular, so make a reservation just to make sure you get a table. They do have bar-style seating outside that faces the marina. Parking can also be an issue. The food is excellent. I have been here a few times and have not been disappointed. Look for the specials. Oh if you are tall the ceiling fans are low.

$38 for this? What a shame. I used to like this place. Will not go back. Lighthouse is much better and gives you bigger portions for same meal.

I came here by myself and had a great, filling dinner! Service was great and fast! The outside seating area was very nice with a great view of the water. It was nice to watch the boats and there was a nice breeze. I felt really relaxed and left with a very full tummy! The Seafood Cannelloni was very filling--I was really hungry and ate the entire thing! I even got key lime pie for dessert and it was delicious! I'm from Florida and the key lime pie was one of the best key lime pies that I have ever had! Very fresh and had a real key lime taste--not too sweet but not too sour. Light and had a great graham cracker crust. Overall would recommend!

I would give this place 3.5 stars! Food and service is pretty good, but this is all granted you don't have too many alternatives in the area. We had the crab dip, burger, and ribs. Liked the pretzels that came with the crap dip a lot, the dip itself could've been creamier - felt slightly watery. Burger tasted like a home made burger, bread was soft, patty was juicy. Ribs could've been better - was on the dryer side. Overall though food was definitely above average and if we're in the area, we'd come back again. Not necessarily worth traveling far for though. We sat at the outdoor patio and it had a cute little marina view. We were able to dine with our dog and our server gave him a water bowl too which was sweet. They give you a check in a cute little book!

I really enjoyed my time at the the Island Hideaway! The most enjoyable part of this restaurant is the great view and atmosphere. We sat on the patio with the view of the marina. I would definitely recommend eating outside if you can. I also loved the hollowed out Nancy Drew book that housed the bill. Food wise, we got the crab dip with pretzel sticks which I would highly recommend. I got the mahi mahi tacos as my entree. I did like the mahi mahi in the meal but I think the tortillas were store bought and not homemade. I ended up pulling out and just eating the mahi mahi without the tortilla. The wasabi cucumber sauce on the mahi mahi tacos was great! I got a cucumber margarita that I also felt was just okay. It was a bright yellow color which was surprising to me. I also thought it was a bit too sweet. Our server was very kind and attentive throughout the evening. We never felt rushed or ignored. Really enjoyed this place and would return.

09.01.23 Wife and I came down to have lunch we sat outside at the high top table, it's a little difficult to sit here. The chairs are to tall for the table they need to raise the table or cut the legs of the chairs I don't think they will find a chair the proper height so cutting them seems to be the cheapest option. It was our only option there was a table but it was reserved and the people weren't going to be there for another hour and a half so we couldn't sit at that table, well we finished eating watched a boat backing in a slip show had dessert and the table was still empty. I can understand if it's over an hour and just 2 people that's plenty of time to eat lunch. We started with a salad and for our meal we split a crab cake dinner, came with 2 crab cakes and 2 sides we had the confetti corn they may have called it something different and asparagus. Everything was very good the corn was just ok there were 2 types of corn in it and one just didn't work in it for us, it also had peppers onions and bacon. Being it's corn season some fresh corn cut off the Cobb would have been excellent in this. For dessert we had a wonderful chocolate crunch cake with chocolate mouse and and caramel. An excellent choice if they still have any left. Stop in and give this place a try.

First time visit while on vacation w family; went here on recommendation from a 'foodie' friend. DID NOT DISAPPOINT! This was an incredible lunch spot on Solomon's (Friday), quiet ambiance, and wonderfully nice staff. The food demands a return trip, is rich and wonderful. Not a member of our party regretted their decisions for meal or dessert.

Service was a little slow, as we were part of a big rush and there were only 4 employees (2 servers, 2 kitchen). But it was worth the wait. My wife started with a Cosmo, her favorite cocktail, and said it was excellent. We shared the strawberry salad lunch special and the Popeye burger with fries. The fries were an unusual and cool wide spiral cut, and some of the best we'd ever had. The burger was wagyu beef with Boursin and spinach. The salad had a nice touch of candied walnuts. We got dessert. The flourless lava cake and the key lime pie. Both were amazing and took us to the threshold of diabetes. This has to be one of the best restaurants in the area! They roast their own coffee! Wow! Yum!…read more On a weekend morning (Jun 2026), we were in the vicinity of Solomons MD, and friends said that Bugeye Grill roasts their own coffee. That got our attention! We stopped in at this bright clean restaurant on a late weekend morning, (weekdays they open at 5pm). The French-press coffee was a tasty fragrant medium Brazilian blend. The flavor was well balanced, and it was a good smooth non-acidic coffee We found it to be a creamier fragrant brew, not a darker roasty flavor. It had a lightly malty sweetness and nuttiness, characteristic of its blend of Brazilian arabica, robusta, and hybrid beans. They have different blends from time to time. They really are a full-menu restaurant terrific views of Back Creek, and a midscale-classy vibe. They focus on seafood and steaks and lobster! We saw sandwiches around $20. This time, we came for the coffee. It was luscious!

The restaurant had a nice variety of dishes and specialty cocktails...I think that I was more interested in the latter. ;) Since I have not visited Solomons, MD before, I cannot comment if the prices are comparable to other places in the area. However, most of the entrees were in the $25 and up range. I thought my fish and chips (I forget the actual name of the dish) were fine, and my spouse really enjoyed the crab cake sandwich. Although I thought the portion sizes for the sandwiches and fries were fine, the serving size of the mussels seemed a bit small. However, this could have been an optical illusion because the serving bowl for the mussels was HUGE, so the amount of mussels could have appeared to be smaller than what it was. I thought the outdoor patio was great especially with a view of the water and folks going about their business. However, some may not like the setup because you are right on the main street, which can be a bit noisy especially if a lot of bikers are cruising up and down the strip. Parking was a bit of a struggle (not the fault of the restaurant). During our visit, all of the public parking lots were full. However, we visited on Mother's Day weekend so maybe there were more folks (including us ) in the area than normal. I'll admit that since this was my first time visiting the area that I'm not too familiar about the ebb and flow of parking. Overall, our server (who reminded me a bit of a young Jodie Foster) was amazing. One thing that I really appreciated was her telling us about a potential delay for the food due to a large party. Although no one wants to hear that after ordering food, I think it's nice and considerate when a server provides a heads-up so diners can adjust accordingly.

The medium steak came put MR and the other MR steak came out medium. The good thing about it though is they were still juicy. The mushroom topping was very salty which made the steak salty tasting. The fries, rice, and sweet potatoes were very good. Sweet potatoes were a bit small but not too bad. The salads were definitely small to me. Wish they had a bit more on the plate. I would not feed this catfish, to a starving, stray cat. I will not be ordering again. Their side sauce was a welcome change from the usual tarter sauce, and tasted really good. I love fresh lemon and it was a narrow wedge, offered for 4 catfish filets. Old, without a drop of lemon juice, to be had. Bummer. The steak fries were so overcooked, and a dark brown, tasting charcoal like. Burned to a crisp with a couple of fresh, lightly tinted, the way steak fries should look, and taste. Not edible. Old, and fried again, who know? Those too, will go into the dumpster. The icing on the cake is the Unsweetened iced tea, having no label, on the plastic jug, and it was sugar sweet. Down the drain with the sweetened tea that should have been labeled, and unsweetened. Bravo for the salad, if hungry for a house salad. See ya, Texas Roadhouse. I decided to try it out and will say the view is great but the food itself was lacking. Firstly, I'll talk about the place. It's an easy drive to get too, but it's a bit secluded since you have to get to the water. It has a small parking lot, but shouldn't be a problem. The place is relatively clean and well spaced out. The servers are very nice. They ask if you want to sit inside or outside in case you want a better view of the water. The food is what I was looking forward to. The table ordered the crab dip as an appetizer. It came with crackers and bread and was pretty good. But the dip was mostly filler and I didn't feel like it had enough crab in it. I ordered the Basket and had 2 crab cakes and 3 fried shrimp. The shimp was well seasoned. However, they fry it with the shell on. This means you'll be spitting out shrimp shell as you bite into it. The crab cakes were actually delicious - very flavorful and filling. We also ordered rockfish for the table. I understand it's a white fish, so when it would fall apart in my mouth I knew it was way overcooked in the fryer. Each piece would desintegrate in my mouth and only leave behind a clump of soggy batter. Overall, I don't think the food is good. If all you want to order is crab cake then this place is golden. Otherwise, maybe only come to see the nice view of the water and the bridge.

I looked at the menu ahead of time and already knew I wanted the Ultimate Seafood Platter, mainly because it included a crab cake. We also ordered oysters as an appetizer, and they were absolutely delicious and incredibly fresh. Hands down, this was some of the best seafood I've had from a restaurant in a long time. The scallops were plump and juicy, and the fish portion was very generous. I'm usually nervous when a crab cake is included as part of a platter because I expect something small or previously frozen. That was definitely not the case here. The crab cake was a great size and tasted fresh. They offer a traditional version and an "angry" version. I ordered the angry crab cake, and it was seasoned to perfection. The other person with me ordered the seafood pasta, and it was just as impressive. The Alfredo sauce was delicious, with plump scallops, juicy shrimp, and a generous portion of pasta. It also came with amazing rustic, buttery toasted bread. The waitstaff was great, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the waterfront view made the experience even better.
