My husband and I just left Island Hideaway and we couldn't have been more satisfied with our meals. The homemade pastas are the way to go! I got the Fettucini with Alfredo sauce and added pan-seared shrimp. The pasta was so good and there was the perfect amount of Alfredo sauce - not so much that my pasta was drowning in it. My husband got the Seafood Canneloni with a mixture of the Alfredo and red sauce. He hardly left any on his plate! The homemade salad dressing was also notable. So yum, both the ranch and honey mustard. We also loved that this place was family owned and operated. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, but not annoying. Great location and view of the water and boats. Cute decor. Really excited to discover Solomons Island and this nice restaurant on the water. Ambience was very nice and the service was GREAT! Looks like ample space with others due to social distancing during these times, which was nice. Must try the crab dip! Ordered some cocktails and it almost tasted like they forgot the alcohol. Not very tasty or strong. Dinner was not very good either but editable. Lacked flavor in fish tacos and shrimp tacos. Tacos had tomato and lettuce with some kind of tasteless sauce, they need to add some cabbage instead of lettuce and add a chili for some kick! Rice pilaf was dry and tasteless also. French fries tasted like burnt sticks. I will give this place another try because the dip and service. I will also order some pasta next time since it's in house made. read more

We were excited to try this restaurant but never made it past the unwelcoming, unprofessional and rude hostess. She seemed annoyed and bothered by our party of five - which included 3 kids. There were many open tables but she told us they all had reservations "in about 2 hours" so we "probably wouldn't be done by then." First she told us it would be a 45 minute wait but when we said we would put our name in she said "it will actually be closer to an hour and a half." Her poor and dismissive demeanor led to us going to a restaurant across the street. We had a much better experience there! read more

The Lobster Bisque was also pretty good, and the Seafood Cannelloni was alright- I'm not a big pasta fan, but my boyfriend seemed to really enjoy it. I have been to Island Hideaway a few times now and all I can say is, in a sea of chain restaurants this place is a gem. Completely worth the drive over the bridge. I don't know what they do to their potatoes in all forms... I can only describe it as magic. They have new specials all the time and they are always sublime. We stopped into The Island Hideaway one night looking for something good to eat. We decided on the fish of the day (Mahi Mahi) with a coconut crust and the Seafood Cannelloni with the server-suggested mix of the red and white sauce. We each got the Caesar salad to start which was good. The Seafood Cannelloni was really good! It wasn't that hot which was a bummer but the flavor was so good that it was overlooked. The Mahi Mahi wasn't that great - it was dry and bland. We've been to the Hideaway before and had the crab cakes which were good so we'll give them a shot again (and definitely get the Seafood Cannelloni). read more

One of my favorite spots on the island. The food is always fantastic-- I love the scratch dip, and the fish bites, but I usually choose something off of their specials menu that rotates often. I had family in from out of town tonight and we walked in a little before six on a Monday night. It was quiet and we sat outside at a table overlooking the water. You can't beat that view! Our server (Abby, I think) was really great. We had a few appetizers, some lobster bisque, mahi, and salads. The fish was fantastic. Everyone really enjoyed the cornflake breaded chicken strips. The fries are tossed in dry ranch, and they're seriously worth every indulgent calorie. The best thing we had was my mom's shrimp and grits (pictured). The grits were creamy and rich, but there were enough contrasting flavors with the corn and the blackened shrimp to really balance out the dish. I finished what she couldn't. It was one of the best meals I've had in a while! By the time we left the place was packed. Those of us that frequent the restaurants on Solomons Island know this really is a great spot! The food was great! We got a table right away bc we didn't mind eating inside but the outside tables looked inviting. Right on the water...but when you live on a. Oat you are always right on the water and the AC appealed more. I got the drink special of the day which was a lavender lemon Martini made with gin. Very refreshing. Hubby got a hoppy beer. His fav nowadays. I ordered the coconut crusted mahi and it was just enough dish for me but some bigger eaters may have thought it to be a little small. And the coconut wasn't obvious like it is in coconut shrimp but I would order it again. I also got asparagus (which was cooked just the way I like it) and the skratch corn which had pimentos and bacon. It needed a little something to make it outstanding but it was tasty. We got the lemon berry cake for dessert and it was just okay. Needed more lemon flavor. Overall the server was great and we will come back the next time we are in Solomons Island. read more

We stayed on Solomon Island MD for a total of four days and this is our favorite restaurant we went to! We had reservations for the Hideaway before coming to the island but the owner of the bed-and-breakfast we were staying at told us how amazing this place was so we really were looking forward even more so to our upcoming dinner reservation. When we were arrived we sat right away and received the best service in the world! The atmosphere was great and they had both indoor and outdoor seating right on the water. The food was our absolute favorite of all the places we ate the food was the best on the entire island! The pasta is all made from scratch right there in the kitchen and all the meat and seafood we were told was local caught / kept. Did I mention how incredible the food was because it truly was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. If this place was closer to our actual ho,e we would eat there every day because the food is that good! read more

Prices have increased to the point of being ridiculous. They charge $16 for an average hamburger and then charge $2 each for cheese, bacon and mushrooms. Really? The food is hit or miss. Hostesses always look bored (and on their phones). Table service, however, is pretty good. Brunch is an interesting option. This place has a nice view and overall good vibe, which offsets the inconsistent food. I'd rate them a cut above the Tiki Bar, The Pier, and the Lighthouse... on par perhaps with Charles Street, but not nearly as good as La Vela, CD Cafe, or the Bugeye Grill. read more

Went there on Saturday, July 8. About a 30 minute wait for an outside table. Very cordial hostess, remembered who we were and kept us informed. Ordered crab dip and fish tacos because of Yelp! Ratings. I can't agree with the crab dip, it was good but not the best in Southern Maryland. I thought it a little runny and lacking a few now identifiable lumps of crab. We didn't have enough bread and the waitress said it would be a dollar or two more. We said "OK", even though I thought that trifling. The fish tacos were OK, but I would not order them again. They seemed bland, when they could have been much better. The French fries, as other Yelpers have commented were great. My biggest complaint was that the bartender short changed me, when I ordered drinks as we were waiting for a table. I ordered twice, and was $3 short the second time. I had stuffed the change in my pocket, and didn't count it until we were on the way home. If I go back, I'll be careful to count my change. Both times, he gave me all ones in change for $9 something in drinks, and I gave him a $20 each time. I realize he was angling for a tip by giving out the $1's, but surely he can count to ten? read more

I've been to Island Hideaway a number of times over the past 2 summers. It has a nice patio with comfy chairs and provides shade and usually a breeze on a hot day. I prefer going during the day as it is not usually as crowded as dinner when you may have to wait a while for a table and the service can be a little slow. The drinks from their list are pretty good. My go to is the Holy Water - perfect antidote to a hot day. Not too sweet and refreshing with cucumbers and st Germain. The crab dip and pretzel balls are very good. I usually order extra pretzel balls. I haven't had the crab cake or the burger both of which look pretty good. I've had a salad with blackened fish of the day and also the fish tacos. Both good but not memorable. I give Island Hideaway 3.5. read more

I came here with my husband and in-laws on a Saturday afternoon. We sat outside after a short wait. The view was beautiful and it was a nice day so it wasn't too hot to sit outside. You can also drive your boat up to the dock and tie it up for a nice lunch/dinner if you wanted. The restaurant is ran by a woman and her children and we had one of her sons as our waiter. He was super friendly and attentive. I had a dragonfruit lemonade (I think that was the name) that was delicious!! And a blackened chicken Caesar salad that was really tasty and fresh. Everyone pretty much licked their plates clean- and you HAVE to try the French fries, sooooo good! We also took some desserts home, all of which were crazy good- the lemon blueberry cake was my favorite, but is super sweet so if sweet isn't your thing you probably shouldn't get it. Great spot. The scenery is great and relaxing as well as the restaurant itself. The food is absolutely fantastic. I went with my wife and kid so we were able to get a good range of food. We started with the crab dip to say it was delicious would do it injustice. It was simply amazing. My wife got the hideaway tacos, basically fish tacos; I'm not a fish taco fan but they were fresh, and had a nice flavor with plenty of horseradish sauce. My son ordered the chicken wings, plain, and they were easily the best wings in the county. They were even really good later in the evening. I ordered the lasagna. This bad boy was really good, but be warned; the bottom layer is a layer of beef. A pot roast. Not particularly my cup of tea but I enjoyed it for what it was. The fries.....dear Lord were they amazing. I don't know what seasoning they used on them but they were great. Be mindful that when you go, it's an atmosphere experience. Food was pretty good! We got crab dip and that was delicious, the side salad needed a little help and for the price it wasn't good enough. Chicken tenders were a little small but the cornflake breeding is good and the skinny fries were amazing!!! I also got fish tacos and they were delicious. The overall experience was one of the best I've had around here. I got the cut of the day which was a perfectly cooked filet mignon with a very nice herb butter on top; I give the place five stars just for absolutely nailing that. The fries were also as good as advertised. Went back again and honestly the fettuccine was better than some Italian restaurants, and the steak was just as amazing as the first time I went. It was so good that while I was at the table for dinner I made a reservation for brunch to try their breakfast.. and that was perfect too. It's quickly becoming my favorite restaurant as, not only have I never had a bad experience, it is consistently above average. We have been here 3 times since moving to MD. Every time the food is amazing. I highly recommend the Seafood Cannelloni was so good and such good complex flavor. The pastas are house made and so perfect. The service is always great and I think although it is a little pricey is one of the only restaurants in Solomons that the price is worth the food.
