One day they were talking about seafood and recommended The Juicy Crab. I had never heard of this restaurant, I would constantly drive by it and put little to no interest in this place because that's how I am. I see a random restaurant I've never heard of and don't search it up nor try it because I don't want to go in a restaurant alone without knowing what is good or having someone recommend me the good food. We arrived there on a Friday night and found it busy as to any other restaurant on a Friday night. The wait time wasn't very long. When it was our time to be seated our server greeted us and made us feel welcomed. She got us started with our drinks and gave us a minute to look for any appetizers while she grabbed our drinks. I had ordered the fried calamar as an appetizer and when I say I have never tasted something this good I mean it. These were the first that I have tried them, and they were actually very good. We were a party of 11 and somehow, she was very organized when it came to us ordering, since we were sort of a big party the wait time for the food wasn't bad at all. Everyone and I mean everyone, got the seafood combos. I had never tried anything like that anywhere so when I first tasted it, I was amused, and it felt like I had been missing out on this restaurant. The seafood had a nice touch of I don't know what that made it so delicious, and made it not have that fresh seafood taste that most shrimp and other seafood have. Throughout the visit, the server would come every 5-10 minutes to check on us, which we found interesting because it was busy and in any other places servers come around every 20-25 minutes with them being not too busy to not being busy at all. The spice level of medium was nice, as someone who enjoys spicy food regularly, Medium was significant (like fresh Jalapenos). We ended up taking a lot home, which was then thrown away because of how salty it was. I promptly got a headache afterwards from all the salt. Our total came out to about $100 without tip, which was okay considering we got a lobster tail and crab. Overall, the price was not worth what we got, especially considering we could barely eat it. It houses tons of well-known business like Toys r Us and staples. The parking lot directly in front of the restaurant was pretty full, but then again it was lunch hour. The doors are covered in writing, signatures and little phrases that I figured were from customers. The restaurant Itself was spacious and they had tons of booths- which is where we were seated. The waitress was sweet and attentive. I was super excited to try the food so I ordered a calamari basket that comes with fries. Everyone's food came out pretty quick which I guess is a good thing. Like it literally took 5 minutes to get my food. The FOOD: to my dismay was not great, which is why I'm giving this 3 stars. The food was overly oily and seemed to be over cooked or something because it tasted of nothing but oil. I feel like when something is fried it doesn't have to be completely soaked in oil. Oh, Juicy Crab. How have I lived this long without you?!?! When my friend first told me about how good this place was, I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical. I mean can food that is eaten out of a bag really be that good? My three friends and I went on a Sunday afternoon and waited about an hour for a table. Christina was out waitress and she was amazing. She was very nice and super attentive despite waiting on multiple tables. After reviewing the menu, I decided on the combination of the half pound of shrimp and half pound of crawfish in the mild juicy special seasoning. Christina brought us a bucket, styrofoam plates, cute bibs with a giant crab on it, and gloves before our food came out. (Just fyi, this is NOT a good place for a first date as things can get a bit messy, hence the gloves and bibs). The food took a while to come out because it was so busy. Christina was really nice and kept us updated on the status of the food. She was apologetic and assured us that she would bring it to us as soon as it was ready. After waiting for what felt like forever, we finally got our food. I got hush puppies as an appetizer which were delicious and a good start to our meal. They give you a good number of them, so one order was enough to share among 4 people. The shrimp and the crawfish were so good drenched in the juicy special seasoning. I had never peeled crawfish before so that was adventure. After dismantling about 7 of them, I became a pro. Each bag of seafood comes on with one ear of corn on the cob and a whole red potato. You can pay more to get extra potatoes, corn, and even a boiled egg. I highly recommend breaking the potato in a few pieces and letting the pieces soak in the seasoning and then eating them. I promise that if you try this, you will not be disappointed. In addition to the crawfish and shrimp, I was able to try the Snow crab and Dungeness crab. I'm not a huge crab person, mainly because of how much work it takes to dislodge the meat. It is, however, quite tasty when a friend does all of the work. I likely will never order the crab for myself due to sheer laziness and will stick with my shrimp and crawfish. The cajun fries and chicken tenders were tasty so if you don't like seafood, there are still options for a meal for you! Overall, I absolutely love this place. We both decided to sit in a booth, which was already covered with paper. Our server, Lucinda, handed us the seafood menu. For appetizers, we started with Cajun fries, lemon pepper wings, and West Coast oysters.The wings were huge with a dry rub of lemon pepper. The oysters can be prepared either grilled or raw.I chose the raw option and was served huge, two inch long fresh oysters. Last were the Cajun battered fries, which were tasty, like an upgraded version of Popeye's Cajun fries. For the Entrees, we both ordered half a pound of boiled shrimp and crab legs. We had of option four different seasonings - either Cajun, garlic butter, lemon pepper, or juicy, and three different heat levels, ranging from mild to hot. I selected the medium heat juicy special sauce, which is a combined flavor of Cajun, garlic butter, and lemon pepper. Before our entree arrived, Lucinda, our server, placed an empty bucket on our table that contained bibs, latex gloves, and wipes. The boiled seafood came out in neat sealed bags along with the appropriate utensils needed to crack open the legs. The seafood came with corn and potato drained in the selected sauce. Overall it the shrimp and crab legs was very fresh and juicy and the medium flavor juicy sauce was slightly on the spicy side. And the sauce got more spicy and bolder over time. The verdict: I was very impressed with the quality and affordable pricing. The service was very attentive. JUST AS YOU CAN'T BRING THAT WHITE BREAD DRESSING TO A TRUE SOUTHERN TABLE... You can't bring a flour based breading to fish or seafood. Not in my south, no Ma'am that is not okay!! If the seafood is not prepared in a seasoned cornmeal based breading, we have a problem. When it comes to my southern dishes, I expect them to be very traditional and you would NEVER put a heavy "Churches Chicken" batter on a delicate piece of fish or seafood. The Juicy Crab uses this type of batter on fish, seafood and chicken and it is just too heavy and too much. It overwhelmed my popcorn shrimp and I found myself removing the batter so that I could actually taste the shrimp. Also, when it comes to my fried foods which I rarely eat out, I tend to be very particular because I don't want to taste or see the oil. They use a heavy oil and I think that they needed to drain the food longer before serving. I use avocado oil so my fried foods tend to have a very light and clean taste and that is my preference. This restaurant was just not my cup of tea, it is way too casual, (paper cups, paper plates and plastic utensils). No thanks! The menu was very limited and offered no green vegetables. While they do offer corn and potatoes, I don't consider these vegetables. On the other hand, the hush puppies and onion rings were nice and the servings were generous. Bottom line, this restaurant is called the Juicy Crab so I am assuming that their energy is focused on their crab dishes. You may want to keep this in mind if you are planning to visit. All the food is steamed together in a clear colored plastic bag and this is the way it is brought to your table. Your server will give you gloves , a stainless steel bucket (to throw all the trash in), an apron (with a big crab on it). So you basically wear all your "juicy crab attire" and dig in with your "gloved fingers". The service here is fast - it literarily takes btw 10-15 to get your food & it comes hot. Juicy crab is an experience - all of my friends that come from out of town I take them here to experience it. I also loved that if it's your birthday, they come out singing with a slice of cheesecake (for free-on the House). My oh my , that cheesecake was super delicious. Pretty darn serious crab and craw fish place. The margin for error and tolerance for a seafood boil place is razor thin. Seafood connoisseurs have no mercy. Over cook or over season your seafood and you might as well jump in the bunker cos seafood lovers are harsh. As I pushed opened the heavy wooden doors, I face a long narrow hallway and at the end is the hostess. She gives me the once over, checking me out.. thinking.. Is this guy worthy of our seafood. I slowed my pace, let the door slam behind me, and I paused.. looking around the joint, slowly casing the scene, eyes meeting eyes, ..thinking to myself... yeah.. this is the place alright.. there be some serious seafood about here.. So I take a slow walk down the hall, eyes on the hostess.. and from the side of my eye.. I see the servers are grow wary.. I think they know I mean business.... some where in the back ground..a fellow seafood pro was cracking and working at a piece of that succulent crab... Hostess tried to slow play me.. so.. she says coyly, "err.. what do you like?" I think she means to test me.. she was really trying to know if I knew my wares..... I've been hit with the most bizarre food cravings this pregnancy: crab legs! I'm really glad we gave it a try, and were I back in the area with a hankering for some food from the deep blue, I would definitely return! Service was a wee bit slow when we first sat down, but our food came out super fast and it was delicious. The Juicy Crab offers a GREAT value for the sausage addition in the Seafood Combo, which is what I ordered in combination with a cluster of snow crab legs. They have multiple spice levels to their sauces, and I got mild which seemed like the right choice. The sauce and seafood combo was a bit salty, but I'm kind of a salt addict so I wasn't mad about it. Just something to consider if you're watching those sodium levels! My sister got the fried tilapia basket and it came out super freshly fried and piping hot. The pieces of fish were huge which is great for the value, but if they're taking suggestions I would say increase the size of the tartar sauce cup or serve two with those baskets since the ratio of fish to sauce was off. Wonderful experience. The wait time was very long and unorganized. The people that came in after us got seated before us. Regardless, this place rocked it well! Once we were seated, the service was great. Our waitress got our drinks and food fast. She kept checking up on us and made sure everything was good. The food was by far one of the best seafood experiences I have had in a while. The lobster, crab legs, shrimp and crawfish were outstanding and had a burst of flavor with the juices and spices they had cooked them in. My husband and I cane here for our Anniversary dinner. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated. When we sat down our table was dirty but the waitress had the table immediately cleaned. The waitress was very nice and explained the menu. I ordered the hungry feast with a sprite with garlic butter medium spice and my husband ordered the Juicy Cruise with a sprite. The food was ready within 10-15 minutes. The provide a bib and gloves for those that don't want to get messy because eating the food is very messy. I give the food four stars the portion was large and I had enough to take home. The only complaint I have is the food was slightly oily and salty but still tasty. read more

The Juicy Crab is another one of those restaurants that is in a dying shopping mall. The restaurant that occupies this space continues to keep changing about once every year. Considering how busy they were tonight, I think they finally have a keeper. It being Valentine's Day weekend, the restaurant seemed to be A LOT busier than normal. We got to the restaurant a little past 6pm only to discover there was already an extensive wait time. We asked how long it'd be for a party of 3 and was told it'd be about 20-30minutes. No problem~ we got a number and was told to wait not too far from the property. 30minutes became 40minutes became an hour.. eventually turned into an hour and 40minutes. It was our first time here, and had we known it'd take this long we would've came back another night. We saw many parties of 2 be seated before us, and stayed quiet and patient... thinking it'd be our turn next Us being a party of 3, you would think it'd be easy to just add a chair to a smaller table which is precisely what they did after an hour and a half. Finally getting seated in the patio, we noticed another table that could better accommodate our party being cleaned up. We asked to be moved to that table and to have another party of 2 or 3 take over ours. After moving tables and reviewing the menu we made our decision. We ordered one Dungeness crab, a lb of snow crab legs, a lb of king crab legs, a lb of shrimp mixed in their mild juicy special sauce. We also ordered a side of their Cajun fries to munch on as we waited. Eventually our order came out and our server forgot the snow crab legs, no worries.. we'll just eat what did come out as we waited. The snow crab legs nearly took as long to come out as it did for us to finish everything else. That took about 30minutes. We also asked for a side of the garlic butter sauce, they said it'd be $0.50 extra and we said that'd be fine. Little did we know... the side of garlic butter sauce would come in a tiny container, barely enough to dip anything in. I don't understand how they can give you a gallon of the sauce in your bag, but they can't spare a bit of sauce on the side for free or at least make the portion size worth what you're eating. The food overall was tasty and sauce was great. It was the lack of hospitality and service that deducted the stars on this one. I highly recommend coming on a less busy night because the food itself is worth trying. read more

The food here is good. My partner and I usually get the number 7 , hot, juicy special and calamari. For the most part the spiciness is consistent sometimes it is more spicy or milder than usually but for the most part it is consistent. The calamari is sometimes lukewarm by the time they bring it out, but it is still very good. The service on the other hand really just depends. We are big seafood lovers, and we come to this location pretty often, and we've had our fair share of not so great experiences. There has been 2 occasions where our servers completely disappeared and we've had to get someone else to assist us. Just this month on the 19th we had a not so great experience. After we got sat by the hostess our server didn't come by and another family got sat next to us where they were assisted before us after we had been waiting for about 10 minutes already. We only received assistance when we saw a host walking by, and even then did we have to repeat ourselves a couple of times as we she was a bit distracted looking around for our sever. A minute or two went by after that our server finally came by to ask us for our order and the service after our initial order placing was just very slow, after we were done we were waiting for our server to come by our table to ask for the check and we waited for a while before we asked a waitress if we could please get our check. Overall, the service is alright. I would still recommend this location as the food is good. read more

Juicy juicy juicy crabs it was. So delicious! The boil itself was very good. The flavor was amazing. We got the all in one sauce. And we also got the catfish basket which was also on point. Definitely been here a few times and will still go back for more! read more
