Went here the other day. My friend and I were famished so we decided to try the Mac and Cheese, Cheeseburger and Turkey Burger with fries. Fries were hand cut and tasty. Both burgers were charbroiled perfectly. Unfortunately the plain Mac and Mac left a lot to be desired... Again we were really hungry so we finished most of it. I wanted to offer my Mac and Cheese recipe as most of the cheese was just on top but the inside was kind of soupy. Anyhoo.... overall good flavors and the ambiance was a bit rustic but clean. The worst fucking place I've ever ordered from. I placed an order twice because the first one never arrived and Grubhub gave me a coupon so I placed the second order the exact same and it came hot soggy and gross. The burger wasn't well done the fries look like sand worms. They were gross! The service was absolutely terrible. If I could give them 0 stars I would! This place has decent food, but the service is terrible. I know it's new to the area, so usually I try to be a little more understanding as they're still training staff. But you can probably find even better wings on or near the island with much better service. The first time my husband and I visited, they charged us three times for our order. When we asked to have the second and third charges voided, the server tried to argue with us and convince us we were wrong. Finally, when we got her to void the charges, she didn't bring a receipt to prove that the void had actually gone through. We asked her several times, but she said she couldn't bring the receipt to us because she had already cleared the transaction. I worked in retail and food service and know that when you void a transaction, you always provide the customer with a receipt. It turns out, she never even voided it, so we had to call our bank and have the double charges removed - which was $86. We weren't planning on spending over $100 on dinner. The second time we visited, they charged us for 24 wings when we had only ordered six. And again, they still tried to convince us it was somehow our fault. The hostess was rude and did not apologize for the mistake. Each time we've visited, we get charged incorrectly for our order. I know this isn't the end of the world, but it does make coming here more frustrating than it's really worth. Especially when they're not kind about it. It's a good place when you're craving some wings or a burger, but the sauces for the wings are too thick and too sweet in my opinion. They taste similar to the sauces at Applebee's. The wings are cooked well and taste good, but the rest of the food just tastes like typical bar food. We were excited because it's just down the street from us, but needless to say, we probably won't be back. read more

This place is great! Very open and easy going. The bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly. This place has good cold beer, checkered floors and friendly conversation. Went there for the first time today.. Waitress was excellent. Came over to table quickly, took our drink order. We ordered boneless chicken wings, luau style. I ordered the Delmonico sandwich (thinly sliced steak, caramelized mushrooms an onions and melted mozzarella served over garlic bread). I asked for the steak medium rare and to have the bread on the side. Steak and bread served as I asked. My friend ordered Steak Quesadilla. The waitress stopped several times during the meal, she did so without being pushy. Parking is on street so it might be difficult at night, during the day parking was easier. read more

The wings were fine, that's the best I thing I can say. The rest of the food was mediocre. Our waitress was nowhere to be seen for the entire meal, but every other member of the wait staff had the exact opposite problem. They would swoop in and remove plates just as you'd picked up the last wing - still in your hands half eaten - with the rest of the sauce still on the platter. Even removing my water glass in their over-zealousness. It was ridiculous. But then, once the table was completely clear of absolutely everything, a long wait for the check. The vibe of the restaurant is on par with the TV section of a department store. I've never seen more TVs packed into a place. So you would definitely call this a sports bar. Pretty distracting if you were hoping for focusing on your dinner companions. Been coming to kettleblack for over a year now. Pretty cool bar with good music. The bartenders are really nice and so is the rest of the staff. Good drinks and prices are good too. The only probllem is they get too oVercrowded sometimes so there's not much room but that's your usual Friday/Saturday night at a bar. Might wanna avoid bringinG your coat as there's not much room to leave it. O really great bar read more

When I lived in Brooklyn I went to Kettle Black A lot. I was hoping that the food and service came over to the island with the bar but NOPE ...the service is horrible. We sat down and the waiter came over pretty quick. I asked for a beer and my friend a water. The beer came very fast but my friend water never showed. The waiter came back to take our order I ordered the wings my friend a sandwich, still no water. The waiter said the water is coming ...my wings came still no water plus no napkins ...final the water came and my friends sandwich came ...it was not cooked fully pretty much raw in the inside.. at that point we were pissed ..I had to ask for napkins and then the check...the sandwich was voided and we just paid for everything else ...horrible ...went down forest to Duffy's ...the hell with Staten Island kettle black I will just stay with the Brooklyn one read more

Really enjoyed this place... decor is really nice, bigger and cleaner than its original bay ridge location. Beer selection was pretty decent. We had boneless and original buffalo city wings, both were awesome. Look for the specials wing wednesday and boneless monday .69 cent wings they are really good wings. I also had a triple b burger ( blackend bacon blue cheese) it was a great burger. Cooked perfect / chopmeat not overly packed and the fries were also awesome as well. Service we had was just fine. I was so excited when I found out that Kettle Black opened up their second location in Staten Island. I've always gone to theirs Brooklyn location for years, ever since I resided on the island the last 3 years it finally happened! Last night I went with a few people to grab drinks and of course indulge on their wings! But to my surprise as I also hyped up the appetizers we decided to order the combo platter. The platter included jalapeño poppers, mozzarella sticks, breaded zucchini sticks, chicken fingers & potato skins. Everything was great but the potato skins; as I broke it apart (as I enjoy seeing the cheese ooze and stretch out)& that didn't happen. I looked at it since it looked over cooked I figure it was still good. The middle part of the cheese was still cold and I let a staff member know it was not even cooked thoroughly. Few minutes later I get the 2 potato skins back and it was definitely burned. The bacon didn't taste like bacon it was just charcoal on top of cheese that just made it unappetizing. I would probably recommend whoever is running the food to look twice before serving it to customers. I just didn't eat the potato skins after taking a bite. It was just disappointing, whoever is cooking needs to get familiar with the oven settings. Overall service was good and my wings (big bear flavor) was amazing! Everyone at my table enjoyed it or was either just hungry after the 2 hour wait. Oh and they just need someone to supervise the high tables since it was a packed night of people waiting with drinks. A table would be finished and before the table would be cleaned others whom have not even waited half the time just claimed the tables. Poor service tonight. Started out great but once our food came we barely saw our waiter. Never checked on us once food came. If he did he would have known my daughter didn't touch her dish . She said it was too spicy . He went to all the other tables he had except ours several times. I feel we were treated poorly because I was a mom with two kids and maybe he didn't take us seriously . They have the absolute WORST customer service. My first time going there the hostess told us that we would need to wait to be seated and yet we saw an abundance of empty tables. After ten minutes passed, we decided to sit at the bar (as it was ridiculous to have waited so long). The bartender was very nice and turned our experience around the first time but that was all. We tried to give the restaurant a second chance and once we were seated, we had to track down our waitress every time we needed something, as she did not come back to the table to check on how everything was going (this should have been the last time we gave the kettle black a chance but we tried one more time). We called and placed an order for pick up and they got our order completely wrong. The staff did not want to take responsibility for the fact that the person who took the order over the phone placed it wrong. They said that the kitchen was closed and they couldn't give me the correct order. They refunded the money but did not care that I was there with my family to pick up our dinner and now I would have to go back home to cook something for my family, which defeats the purpose of ordering food from a restaurant. I understand that mistakes happen but as someone that works in customer service; their lack of accountability is unacceptable and a training session should be held with all of the staff members to correct how they interact with customers. A great place to go if you want to wait to be seated, ignored once you are seated and be around rude employees. read more

We picked this restaurant because of the great reviews online. We had ordered the dry rub wings as our appetizer and were very disappointed. The wings were doused in the seasoning and it just wasn't flavorful. For our entree we had ordered the Texas Dunk burger, the Gringo burger and the Delmonico. The Texas Dunk burger was supposed to have Texas toast as the bread, but it just tasted like a bland over charred piece of white bread. No garlic flavor whatsoever. I was expecting the au jus sauce to be very flavorful but it tasted like water. The Delmonic, which is a steak sandwich, looked questionable. You couldn't tell if it was pork, chicken or steak because of it's gray color. The fries that came with all of these meals were very under seasoned. And lastly the Gringo Burger was just a basic burger to me that had some avocado and chipotle mayo on it. I personally would not recommend this place. read more

My boyfriend was thrown to the ground by a bouncer because he was taking too long to pay a bill.... Because it was closing time and when my boyfriend asked for an itemized bill, the bartender at first wouldn't give him one. Then when she finally did, our friend wanted to dispute it because it was incorrect. 87 bucks for 3 shots and 2 beers? I don't think so. Anyway, the bartender says, "there's nothing I can do about it, cash is king. Next time you see me remind me and I can hook you up".. that's how we do business these days, right? So then the bouncer, after yelling at us that it doesn't take 6 people to sign a check, takes my boyfriend by the shoulders and throws him to the ground and drags him out. Mind you, he said not a word to the bouncer and there was no reason for the guy to put his hands on him. He was assaulted. And when we called the cops immediately, all the bouncers came out except the guy who did it and made up some bullshit story that my boyfriend started a fight. The guy who took the blame wasn't even near us and didn't even see what happened. So the cops refused to take a report (which o think is wrong) I am disappointed, I have been to the bay ridge location many times and never had an issue, but now that the Staten island location is run by goons, the place is a madhouse and filled with a bunch of brawlers. read more

DO NOT OPEN A TAB AT THE BAR! Last night the bar was closing and my friend asked for the bill. The bartender brings out a bill for 80 something dollars but it didn't say what he bought. We requested an itemized bill so that we can see what he was charged for. The bartender gave him a hard time about even giving him the itemized bill but when she did we had a dispute and her answer was "cash is king, there is nothing I can do about it now" . As we are trying to figure out the bill the bouncer comes from behind me and slams me to the ground. After slamming me to the ground I am then dragged and thrown outside. I then called the police and other bouncers came out and lied to the police. The bouncer who did it wasn't even outside and the other bouncer stated that it was him who was involved but he had nothing to do with it. If you want to be charged extra money for items you didn't buy and physically assaulted for no reason this is the place for you. read more

Last night we went to kettle black on Staten Island for the first time with high hopes after hearing the BK one is so good and HoBrah is one of our favorites as well. We were told our wait would be an hour to an hour and a half which was understandable as it was a Saturday night, we had no problem waiting and grabbed drinks from the bar while we did. After an hour plus waiting and seeing tables just sitting there after bills have been paid, that's when we started to watch "management". In that time a group decided to sit themselves - which is then when I brought it to the hostess' attn and she then had to go over and make them get up as they never had their name down and guests have been waiting. After two hours of waiting we finally sat down! The manager (Chris) then came over and said due to our wait a round will be on the house and then also asked us to move to a smaller table but we had more people coming so he said he will "figure it out". After we received our wings we placed an order of food which is when we were then told "the kitchen may be closed" (thankfully the waiter put the order thru). Once the bill came, first round of drinks were not "on the House" and then Chris was MIA when the waiter went to go find him to have bill adjusted. We went out to have a good night as a group and again waited with no problems.
