Giving it two stars because I typically never have any problems till last night. I've gone to kettle black a handful of times since its opened. Sometimes for a full blown dinner, for trivia night and also just to hang by the bar. The food is always great, staff is usually friendly and attentive. Last night I called around 9:30pm to find out if the kitchen was still open because Yelp told me it was. The woman placed me on hold to check and hold me "The dining room seating is open until 10:15, but you can eat at the bar until 11pm". Ok great! I ordered my meal and went to pick it up. I went to the bar to pick it up like I normally do, except I stood there for some time waiting for the bartender to acknowledge I was standing there as he was too busy BSing with the people on the other side of the bar. I said I'm picking up and order he said hold on. Walked into the kitchen and out came a waitress with my food and my bill. I handed her my car and asked her if it would be a problem to put in an order of Zucchini Fries (*she said on the phone I could order food at the bar till 11 and eat in the dining area till 10:15 and it was only 10:00.) Mind you there were still tables of people eating food around the place. She responds "it would be a huge problem because they closed the kitchen" snatched my signed receipt and walked away. It doesn't end there- I ordered a French onion soup and a sandwich. When I opened the bag when I got home, there was melted butter all over my food! (Wtf) Well, who puts a butter package wrapped in the same paper, on top of hot bread and on top of hot soup?! I don't typically leave bad yelp reviews, especially for a place I go to often and enjoy. But this pissed me off so I had to share. read more

Horrible bartender service that overcharges on open tabs and then refuses to show you the itemized bill. If you try to argue or confirm if you are ripped of then the bartenders assault you and drag you out. Worst service, worst night. Don't come here unless you plan on calling the cops. read more

By far my favorite place to hangout on Staten Island. They represent all of Staten Island sports and have so many TVS to watch any game possible. I was at kettle black last night when a fight broke out. Two people tRied to break up the fight and the bouncers made the situation worse by getting aggressive while escorting people out. The bouncers tried to act tough by dragging people out by the neck and throwing people to the ground. It is their job to defuse fights, not make them worse. People were injured by the bouncers aggressive acts and when they become part of a fight instead of defusing the fight that poses a problem. Needless to say it is a rowdy bar with bouncers who are no help when fights occur because they make the situation worse and are part of the problem. I will not be back to that bar again. read more

What a wonderful experience we had. We were greeted kindly at the door by the hostess who informed us of the Covid procedures. The food was great as usual, banana pepper appetizer, mozzarella sticks and a spicy lobster roll for dinner! The service was great and drinks were being refilled without hesitation. Ordered from Seamless the other night on a whim and was pleasantly surprised! I wasn't super hungry, so I just ordered boneless wings with the classic buffalo sauce and the zucchini fries. The food arrived on time and was still warm. The wings were great, wished I ordered more to save and the zucchini fries were amazing! Service was quick and friendly! Fitzpatrick's Wings were definitely "top 5 in America" as they mention on walls and menu. Triple B burger really smacks! This place is greasy, gross and full of greasy and gross people. The staff are clueless and take a year and a half to bring water, your drinks and the food. Also, they advertise Moscow Mules, so I order one and it came in a soda glass. When I asked for a copper cup the waitress looked at me like I had five heads...then again it IS Staten Island. Imagine my dismay when my friend from Atlanta Georgia comes to New York to visit and she is denied entry to the kettle Black for merely having an out-of-state ID mind you this was a completely real ID she was 22 years old. I am livid. I don't understand how an establishment can make up a rule when no other bar that I've ever been to has had such a rule. I will never be giving this place my business again. Went to Kettle last night on Wednesday to get the wing special, only reason why I like kettle black! We got wings, chili fries and grilled cheese for my daughter. Everything was good expect our server. Only really saw her a couple times. The bus boy however was more like a server to us. He took care of our drinks and my daughters as well, he got things out of the way for us and made sure we were well taken care of till we walked out the door. Management is very nice as well, had a little mix up in our wing order but totally went out of their way to fix it. Thanks for another good wing night Kettle!! read more

Not giving a wait time is horrible customer service. I called to get a feel of wait time and was told they dont do it over the phone. I then drove over 30 minutes to be told there is a 45 minute. A friend and I were looking for a drink, and I have to say the service was exceptional... especially during times like this. With indoor dining still being closed we had to sit outside and although they didn't have heaters set up, the sever went out of his way to get us one. I believe is name was Joe, he was awesome and made sure we had the best service. The drinks were great and the food came out quick and hot. Despite having to sit outside, I'd give it a 10/10. Went here the other day. My friend and I were famished so we decided to try the Mac and Cheese, Cheeseburger and Turkey Burger with fries. Fries were hand cut and tasty. Both burgers were charbroiled perfectly. Unfortunately the plain Mac and Mac left a lot to be desired... Again we were really hungry so we finished most of it. I wanted to offer my Mac and Cheese recipe as most of the cheese was just on top but the inside was kind of soupy. Anyhoo.... overall good flavors and the ambiance was a bit rustic but clean.
