Waste of time and money. We had to take turns eating our meals because they're to cheap to provide utensils. We paid over $60 per person on food alone, only to be told they won't provide enough utensils for each person to have their own. We each ordered a crab bag and noticed the waiter had only brought one shell cracker. When I asked for our other one, I was told policy is only one per table. In shock, I told them waiter that was ridiculous stupid, to which his only response was "Well I didn't make the rule." I thought about asking for a manager, then looked around at the staff huddled in the corner talking, the ones on their phone, the unbussed tables, the flys around the bar, his dead stoned eyes, and realized it was a waste of my breath. The staff didn't care, and the management/owner was too lazy to operate the location correctly. Keep in mind, they use PLASTIC FORKS, NO PLATEWEAR, and PAPER CUPS. Trashy, fast food tableware through out, but they're still too cheap to provide each guest with the one tool you need to eat crab; a shell cracker. We tried this place after Fish and Tails next to the house had a 90 mins wait. We should have waited there. Kickin Krab Lake Highlands is trash. At 7pm on a Friday, it was dead inside. 7 tables total and a completely empty bar. They were overstaffed with 7 servers on the floor and a bartender. This is purely an owners failing, as poor as the staff was, you can't expect them to stay motivated with only one table each. You end up with exactly what I saw, staff standing around on their phone or talking. Our waiter forgot condiments, our drinks, and took 20 mins to bring us our check. Unacceptable, but also unsurprising given how poorly this location is run. I've made my living in hospitality as a Chef, GM, and Culinary Director from fine dining to fast casual. This is could be a great location and a real money maker for staff. The parking lot was packed, everyone else had a wait, but it was dead inside Kickin Krab Lake Highlands. Unfortunately it's failing on every level. Poor staff and poor service ultimately fall on the owner. Every single issue in the restaurant is do to their lack of care and they will feel it in their pockets as this location fails. I'm still amazed they refused to provide the only tool needed to eat the only product they offer. The owner could fix that overnight and by not doing so, is affecting their staffs money and their ability to stay in business. That's truly pathetic. read more

It felt like it had been oversteamed or sitting too long. * Lobster: Overcooked and rubbery--tough to chew and not enjoyable. * Crawfish: Completely inedible. Full of mud and clearly not purged properly. Crawfish should be kept in fresh water before cooking to flush out grit and waste--basic prep that was clearly skipped. The seasoning wasn't terrible, but it didn't elevate the meal either. It lacked the boldness and depth you'd expect from a seafood boil spot. My wife asked for some Cajun seasoning to sprinkle with over it for flavor and was told that it was against their policy to do so. I was so excited to try this location out, since I am a big fan of this franchise! I've been to the garland and Carrollton location, and both places are good in its own way. But this location is the best out of the 3 in my opinion. Service was amazing! Kevin and Layla were both incredible and very provided top notch service. The food was delicious as well! We got snow crab, crawfish, and garlic noodles! Definitely would recommend trying this place out. I love that it's much closer to my apartment, so I will be here soon :) read more

Wow! I've looked at this place a hundred times driving by and never felt called to stop UNTIL I was on the hunt for a GOOD, moderately priced fish taco in a casual place. I FOUND IT! The fish tacos (3) are served with healthy portions of white fish (not tilapia) fried in a light batter. The mild seasoning was perfect for the fish perched on a slaw/pico relish and topped with a bit of tasty roulade sauce, My husband and I ordered "mild" having nearly killed ourselves over the years on spicy Cajun . My husband got the "fish snd fry basket " and subbed sweet potato fries. There were five puces of lightly battered white fish served over a mound of fries. Good fries.! One of the WORST, most HORRIBLE, and next level MIND BLOWING experiences I've ever had. Called to order 1 LB of head-off shrimp to go, confirmed multiple times. My girlfriend went to the location to pick it up; according to her, there was something wrong with the payment machine, some employee then brought a iPad for her to tab her card. She confirmed if it was the order under my name, confirmed, paid. No one ever showed her order details and the price of the order. Got home, Opened the bag, found it was head-on, I immediately called the location to explain the issue, I stated that I can accept them to get my order right and I'll bother to drive another 20 minutes to picked it up; they put me on hold for almost 10 minutes and told me "SORRY there's nothing we can do about it", according to their manager Charlie Phuth. Claiming that we've got what we paid lol, it's just so funny that they can't even argue they've got my order wrong but to argue we paid for the head-on price when we weren't even aware of how much it was. I've experienced other issues with merchants before, but nonetheless they were positively looking for a solution based on the customers' needs, especially when it is clearly their fault. Food was not even warm, tasted like it had been sitting out or made hours before. Out of the mussels only 2 had meat, only 2 clams had meat and a couple of shrimps, not even the linguini was warm. The server told me the spice was made with habanero peppers so I selected that over the spicy spicy flavor which was supposedly made with ghost peppers. I couldn't taste the spice at all. The garlic was in HUGE chunks and I just kept getting a tomato base flavor which I do not like at all. I asked for a side of the spicy spicy sauce since it was supposed to have ghost peppers but I swear it was just a tomato base with huge garlic chunks. I just couldn't get over the flavor. I had enough sauce just to color the crab legs, I asked for another sauce, which the server explained they normally charge $3, but she made an exception for me. The 3 stars are for the service.
