The service is good and I was surprised (it was actually pretty cool) to hear some good reggaeton from the early 2000s be the music of choice. If you're from Miami you know what I mean. The fish n chips is very good. Of course, it's on the heavy side (you habe to be okay with that) but tastes great. The fisherman's platter is rather large and the fried scallops are particularly delicious.

The fries were terrible - a nice portion but soggy, limp, flavorless and a huge disappointment. It was obvious that the oil they were fried in was not nearly hot enough so the vast majority of what we were served went into the trash. The restaurant shares space with a fish market so maybe they spend more time and effort ensuring the fish market is run well but from our experience tonight their kitchen is not. Hands down the worst seafood meal I have had on the Cape! I'm glad we didn't try the chowder! So our search for our "fave seafood restaurant" continues. We will not be returning to Surfside Seafood.

We started with the seafood sampler, a wonderful combination of fresh and delicious shellfish (clams, oysters, shrimp and a lobster tail). We then split appetizers instead of entrees, having the tuna tartare and the Chatham mussels, both of which were excellent. There was some minor room for improvement - after we were done with our seafood sampler, we sat for about 10 minutes while our server Danielle seemed to be in an enthusiastic conversation with Caroline out in front of the restaurant. It provided for some interesting dinner theater, but with so many other employees standing around, it probably would have been an ideal opportunity for somebody else to chip in and take over. Also, the mussels came in a wonderful wine / garlic sauce - some bread would have been a thoughtful addition to soak up that wonderful broth. Fortunately the quality of the food and the vibe of the restaurant more than compensated for a couple of service issues - we visited in late May, so hopefully by the time this restaurant hits the busy season, they'll have the issues worked out. My husband had the grilled swordfish which was good, but not very special. The piece of fish was a little thin and slightly overcooked. The buttery caper sauce was good . Our lemon meringue tart was tasty, but the tart crust was tough and nearly impossible to cut through. Overall it was good, but not great. It was also very expensive. My dish with 4 scallops was nearly $50. The total with our food and just two glasses of wine plus tip was nearly $200 which is quite steep, even for the Cape. If we were to return next year I think we're more likely to come for a lunch.

Just happened to see that the Knack was open yesterday night. I was very impressed with everything about the new place. The food was simple, yet made with care and concern. The facility impeccably built - the kitchen exceptionally clean well designed. The heated three season outdoor eating area was simple and very peaceful, given the spotlit sea grass landscaping. The food was fresh and nicely prepared - and very tasty. The hand cut onion rings were light and crispy. The waitstaff very responsive and clearly aiming to make sure that we had a pleasurable dining experience. Wow!!! My husband and I have been looking forward to visiting The Knack for months and it did not disappoint! Every single thing we ordered - the burgers, bacon dogs, fries and coleslaw - was beyond delicious. We were literally moaning with each bite we took, it was that good. Hands down, these are the best burgers on Cape Cod! And to be able to eat outside on the last day of October while staying warm underneath their patio heaters was just the icing on the cake. Delicious dinner there several times. Very laid back as it is served take out style. I can't seem to get away from the pickled burger with jalapenos and pickled onions. It's delicious! I always order without the bun and would be thrilled to see a burger without a bun option in the future (they do put small piece of lettuce but a little more or something else gluten free friendly would be awesome) The other great part is you can get a local beer with your locally ground burger!!! This place is psycho! Before ordering I used the men's room during which I was physically threatened by an employee. I then went to the window to tell them I don't like their threats at which time an employee was in the parking area ostentatiously taking pictures of me and my vehicle. While the food (4.5/5) wasn't gourmet by any means, it was just about as good as you can get for a fast casual place, and a few steps better in quality than your typical fast food chains. While the meal wasn't cheap, prices were in line with what it takes for a small business of this type to survive in Cape Cod, which relies heavily on seasonal tourism. Who does all this these days? Speaking to the staff, I became aware of their accents. They are from all over the world...Croatia, North Africa and so many more far away places. They spoke very highly of the restaurant's owners and actually said they loved working there. This is a win win situation folks.
