If you want a traditional American breakfast, this is where you want to go, great well lite dining room with plenty of TVs, nice decor, and laid back dining room. I love how it comes with 3 sunny side up eggs, a dense baked biscuit with white gravy. Because of how dry the biscuit is, it need white gravy. Crispy thick cut bacon and amazing extra crispy (I requested it) hash browns. Overall very filling meal, elevated breakfast food for sure.

One star for the great service. Carisa was super sweet and always smiling. That being said, the food was horrible and most was left uneaten. The coffee was mediocre and overpriced at $3.29 a cup, with no refills being offered. Plain cheese and eggs on toast sandwich was 8.99, and a bland grilled chicken sandwich was $17.99. Would not recommend and will not return.

The decor and overall vibe of this restaurant is great. The colors are wonderful and fresh. We wanted the patio but it was a wait and we were hungry. ;) We sat at a large table split into two tables over by the bar. There is a step up into the booth so be careful. I almost bit it. The table can be pushed into one large U-shaped booth. It was kind of weird staring at another set of customers. ;) Good concept overall but weird when split into two tables. The waitstaff was pleasant and friendly. Our waters were refilled regularly. The waitstaff comes to that side of the bar for glass drop-off etc. - so it's a busy corner. If you get bothered by that kind of stuff; ask for a different table. We ordered fried pickles for an appetizer. The pickle-to-breading ratio was off; way too much breading in my "fried pickle expert opinion". It came with ranch dressing, Buffalo sauce, and fresh blue cheese crumbles; nice choice of sides with the pickles. The steak sandwich was great! The fries were yummy. I'm glad we split the sandwich (see pic) as it was a sizable portion. I like that they split it for us and served us separate plates. So kudos for that! Overall, I'd come back to this place. The menu looked solid. I wonder what this place is like at night? I guess I'll have to come back and check it out! You should too!

    Old fashioned with 1881

Walked in. Loud place, lots of tv's. Sat at the end of the bar. Took 15 minutes to acknowledge me. Finally got a drink, their old fashioned. Actually quite good with a whisky I never had, 1881. Rye. It was prime rib special Thursday with mushrooms and mashed potatoes I think. I don't think the Prime rib was a prime cut, very mushy, on top of the mashed potatoes. Mushrooms on the side. Came with a small ramican of horseradish and. Au jus, The plate and everything was swimming in the Au Jus. They poured it all over everything. I give the whole dish a 4 out of town. I should have went with my other choice of fish and chips, their number one dish. The place was lively. The bar chair was comfy. The bartenderess was accommodating. Since it was my first time here they give first timers a small slice of their G mas dump cake. Tasty. I will come back one day, don't know when. Bottom line I will give it a shot

Although I love the location and have been a few times, last night's meal did not impress me and wasn't prepared as requested. I ordered the grilled Atlantic salmon medium rare (came out well) with ginger broccoli (not seared enough and seemed like they added water while cooking). My dad ordered the prime rib sandwich and fries. That was a different experience and delicious. We also ordered the spicy passion fruit margarita and a last word. The drinks were delicious. I'd rather give this a 3.5 star review, but given my meal I can't give it a 4. Service was slow last night and my water was never refilled. She was busy and nice, but I'm used to having more attentive service. Ambiance is wonderful. Maybe next time a burger and drink for me will be better.

This restaurant is such a great addition to the Galleria. The site had been vacant for several years (formerly occupied by Iron Cactus) so I'm thrilled to see a beautiful new restaurant finally filling the void. They did a wonderful job with the decor inside. It's modern and sophisticated. You can tell that a huge investment was made and they have succeeded at creating a really lovely ambience. The food at other League locations is always reliable and this new location is no exception. They really have the formula down. I have been here 3 times since they opened and it was great every time. On my last visit I had the "anytime breakfast" and my friend had the steak salad. They were both delicious. I would highly recommend both dishes. On another occasion I had the cilantro lime shrimp salad which was also really yummy. There is a large outdoor patio with a view out to the greenspace in the center of the Galleria. In the summer there are concerts on the weekends so I'm sure this will add to it to popularity of the outdoor dining here. The bar inside is quite large and welcoming. There is also a small private room in the back if you have a group of around 25 or so, I'd guess.

Alisha and Mara were wonderful. We had a seat on the outside patio and the food was great! We started out with the coconut shrimp, then had the prime rib steak sandwich split, wine and two kids meal. Definitely worth the 1.5 hrs drive! Thank you girls!

I love the atmosphere in here. The old timey pictures and the bar were wonderful. We came in an hour before they closed and got seated right away but I guess which ever server got assigned to us forgot and we waited around 20 mins before having to ask the host for a waiter. That's my biggest complaint right there. Everything else was great. Wendy took care of us and even gave us a little history lesson about the decorations in the restaurant. The drinks aren't too overpriced and there's a lot to choose from. The food servings are huge so you can be sure you won't be leaving hungry.

I could tell they were relatively new but that was only because I was sitting right where they were making the drinks. A server came in to give them a compliment about a drink they had made. The customer said they made it perfectly. (I don't know which drink it was) I ordered a glass of Sauvi B and the chicken and waffles. Honestly I was a bit underwhelmed by the presentation. Right off the bat, I noticed that the waffles were very thin. They would not hold up to the sauces and the chicken. I was right. The waffles basically fell apart. They needed to be much thicker waffles to complement the chicken. They chicken was great. The sauces were delicious. I wouldn't order it again. The waffles were disappointing. It was an expensive brunch for what it was. $56 with tip (2 glasses of wine) - the food was around 18.99. The decor is nice and the people were friendly. I'd try again but with a different item.

Upon her return, we ordered the chicken fried pork chop, fried pickles, burger and fish and chips. Everything was great and flavorful. The portions were large enough to leave you full and more. The venue itself has a cool retro vibe. Clean, well lit and the noise is average. I overheard another server stating it was happy hour, but we weren't made aware. I will have to go back during happy hour to see what they have to offer, but also to try different items.

I stopped today with my husband and absolutely LOVED it, I'm definitely gonna be back!!…read moreBut let me tell you more! The indoor is very beautiful and smells like cinnamon and apple (a scent that I love), especially going towards the bathrooms. Theres a bar section with plenty of seating and the room inside the restaurant is overall very spacious. I didn't see much of the indoor as I decided to sit outside in the patio. Although being during the Texas summer, the patio has plenty of (very powerful) fans! The view of the green belt next to the restaurant is amazing, and there is also an outdoor bar, which gives impeccable vibes. We ordered two starters and had plenty of food! My husband ordered the Barbacoa Stackers (slow roasted barbacoa, refried black beans, Jack cheese, JAK slaw, Cotija cheese) I personally loved them! The meat was tasty and juicy, the black beans were perfectly cooked and everything was so rich in flavor. Definitely a 10/10! I ordered the Homemade Buttermilk Biscuit, served with honey & seasonal fruit flavored butter (with a side of yummy bacon) Today they had strawberry flavor, and there was even strawberry jam. I have to be honest, THE BEST biscuits I've ever had in my life! And I love me some good biscuits! They were buttery and crumbly to the right point! The strawberry butter with the strawberry jam was the perfect combo! We were told the biscuits are made fresh every morning, and I love that! It was definitely a 1000/10! We also got some chips and salsa. Chips are very crunchy, and the salsa is spicy to the right point! Now I'm building my tolerance with the spicy and this salsa was really yummy, and can build up the spice! The waiter who served it to us, brought it over in a small mason jar and emptied it in the little container for our table, which was something I've never seen done like this. Definitely appreciated it! Makes me think they make their own salsa (forgot to check on that!) They also gave us a complimentary pita bread with pimento, and it was delicious! The pita bread was very crunchy and salty to the right point! They even gifted me a portion of peach and strawberry cobbler, topped with ice cream, for my birthday and it was insane! The flavor was perfectly sweet and mixed with the ice cream was very refreshing and still warm and melting in my mouth! Probably one of the best cobblers I've ever had! And keep in mind, we got here that we weren't feeling super hungry, and yet we were able to appreciate every single bite cause it was so good!! Last but not least - Ali, our server, was incredible! She was so nice throughout the whole dining experience and made sure we had everything we needed. She was so kind to ask if I could add peach puree to my freshly squeezed lemonade (which is a 10/10), and even made sure I had plenty of strawberry butter for my biscuits. We definitely took some leftovers home and I can't wait to have the remaining biscuit in the morning!

The League Tavern is a gastropub…read more "Gastropub". That word is so 2010's. A decade ago calling yourself a "gastropub" was the coolest thing in the hospitality industry. Now, it is a lost artifact of another decade, along with Swedish House Mafia and Britney Spears. The League calls itself a retro reminder of the eating clubs of the 1920's and 1930's. It is pretty damm good as a gastropub. It would not really want to be an eating club of the Prohibition era. Menus in that era could be pretty awful. Mashed parsnips. Liver and onions. Greens that have been cooked to death. Tough steaks. Low quality lager beer. The Indian Puddings were all right. The fish was great if it was fresh. I wish they would bring back Welsh Rarebit. But the League sticks to a contemporary menu ... And I am glad they do. Their contemporary dishes are just great. I had a faro salad with grilled shrimp on top. The faro salad was everything I would want a grain salad to be. (I have had some awful tabboulehs and quinoa salads in my time.) The shrimp were completely lovely. Prices are high - but that is what comes with being a gastropub. The concept is: Pay more. Eat higher quality. The Lakeway market will certainly support the League in the prices it wants to charge. The selection on the menu - and for that matter the selection at the bar - is fairly restricted. Having a small menu is not a necessary correlate of being a gastropub. Some gastropubs offer you an expansive range of choices. But careful management of the menu choices means that each and every dish can be polished to a high degree of execution finesse. Practice makes perfect. My guess is that the League envisions itself as a neighborhood place - albeit a rich neighborhood place. Their customers are likely to be regulars. The regulars order their favorite dishes over and over. I myself like my bars and grills to be Cheaper, Funkier and With bigger selections on the menu and at the bar itself. So the League is not exactly my style. But what they do, they do well. They are expanding, opening more branches in more locations. They can do this because the League fills a real need in the Lakeway-Bee Cave market. If a Lakeway resident were to invite me to be their guest at the League Tavern, I would be happy to accept that invitation. Especially if they were picking up the check.
