You should call ahead try to get a reservation because they do get booked / full and the one time we did not, we had to wait for quite awhile. My wife and I had the tuna tartare and hot banana peppers for an appetizer. Excellent. For dinner my wife had the tortellini and I had the over roasted salmon. Both were excellent. For dessert we split the flourless chocolate cake. Based on a recommendation from people leaving the restaurant when we arrived. It was an excellent recommendation. The service was top notch. We went for dinner this past Friday. I haven't been here in awhile, atmosphere was good but our server was very slow ( good thing we weren't in any hurry), we started out with some drinks and appetizers. The drinks were good but the appetizers were some of the worst I've ever had anywhere. The margherita flat bread was thick and doughy with slices of tomato and too much cheese and flavorless, the other was a tomato and artichoke stack. Tomato was way to thick and hard to eat and the whole thing didn't work. The dinners however were excellent. We had the sea scallops, eggplant and the seafood pasta was really good. Honestly, so much potential but avoid in the short term. Generally very disappointing meal, with the appetizers taking over an hour to arrive, watered down cocktails and downright inedible entrees. We were told the main chef(s) were out due to leave and the experience reflected it. It's hard to justify $53 entrees that we had to send back. So disappointing, I have had so many great meals at this restaurant, my sister was in town for her birthday, and I had a special evening planned, we arrived last Thursday (7/27) or 8:45 pm reservation - the table wasn't ready - yet there were many open tables - staff was not warm or welcoming, almost like we were in the way. We each had the NY Strip - usually amazing, but this was awful - unevenly cooked, chewy, neither one of us bothered to finish - it was that bad. As an added insult, around 10:30 or so the staff turned off the music, and began closing up - we were clearly not welcome. Our bill was over $300 - for two people - we were served substandard food, poor service, and thrown out so the staff could go home - it wasn't even 11:00 pm, so sad, I have so many great memories of this place, I will not be gong back any time soon. read more

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I have been going to The Left Bank for over 13 years. It is my favorite buffalo eatery. I have never, ever, been disappointed. I love the atmosphere, the staff, every single thing I have ever ordered. My go to is the twin fillet mignons. The dish is amazing! The only negative is that it can get very loud in there if it's crowded. I blame it on the building acoustics. It's certainly not enough to deter me from going, though. If you can't get a table you can always eat at the beautiful bar and grab an app or a full dinner. read more

If you haven't been to The Left Bank, do yourself a favor and make a dinner reservation right now. Thank me later. I always enjoyed my drinks and appetizers at Left Bank's beautiful bar. However, I recently went in for dinner with my family to celebrate my mom's birthday- holy moly, I loved everything about it! I have ordered the Warm Gorgonzola Cheese "Fondue for Two" every time I've been to Left Bank. It is perfect and never fails to impress me. The fondue comes with beef tenderloin, focaccia points, asparagus and fried portabello mushroom fries. Every single bite is phenomenal, especially the beef. It is so tender! Our group decided to split a few new appetizers in addition to the fondue. My sister and her boyfriend ordered the calamari, which was very good. My mom and I split the Ahi Tuna Tartare, over warm sushi rice and won ton crisps. The tuna is spiced with a Sriracha Chile Aioli, ginger and cilantro. It's fantastic- so fresh and delicious! We all ordered different entrees and sampled each other's plates. I absolutely loved everything, but I liked my entree the best: Carrot Papardella noodles, tossed with lobster, shrimp and crab meat, served in a shellfish brandy cream sauce. Oh. My. God. This dish is divine and one of the best entrees served in all of Buffalo. The noodles are so unique, with a hint of sweetness. The seafood tasted very fresh. And the shellfish brandy cream sauce was incredible! I could literally drink a cup of that sauce. It was unlike anything that I had ever had before! I also got to try bites of the spinach tortellini, ravioli of the day, and the panko crusted chicken cutlets. Everything was amazing! We also finished the meal with a slice of Chocolate Caramel Macadamia tart with a birthday candle for my mom. Our server was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We had several questions and she answered them all happily. She was also the one who convinced me to try the Carrot Papardella dish, so I basically owe her my life. I really love the decor of the restaurant. The exposed brick walls, beautiful murals painted on the wall and low lighting really make for a great atmosphere. It has a very cozy and romantic feel. I would definitely recommend making a reservation for dinner. We were there on a Tuesday night for dinner and the restaurant was packed! I truly cannot wait to return to try all of the other unique and innovative dishes on that menu of culinary genius. Carrot pappardelle (misspelled on the menu) was very good, and the ravioli was not a ravioli but a huge and I mean HUGE manicotti filled with chicken and vegetables. I confess: I am obsessed. Ever since my first experience at the Left Bank last Christmas, I've been dreaming about this place. A lot. Maybe a bit too much, but I can't help it. So on my way back from Chicago, I was crazy enough to take a two hour detour to Buffalo in order to eat here. Of course, the opportunity to shop a bit doesn't hurt either. First up, we have, as usual, some bread to start. It wasn't anything remarkable, perhaps even a little too cold for my liking, but the roasted red pepper oil for dipping was absolutely amazing! Flavourful and aromatic, the oil was a perfect complement to the plain bread. I had a lot of trouble stopping myself from eating all the bread because of it. Moving on the appetizer- fried oysters with tomato-corn and jalapeno salsa and creole remoulade. This was delectable! I love deep fried oyster, but this is definitely one of the best ones that I've had. I loved how that wasn't an overwhelming amount of batter, which made the oyster felt a lot lighter. The accompanying salsa was light and refreshing, and I loved the addition of the sweet corn, which nicely balanced out the heaviness of the fried oyster. And lastly, the creole remoulade was just to die for! Creamy and rich, it was so unbelievably scrumptious with the oyster that I had a strong urge to lick the plate clean... The Left Bank has a daily ravioli feature. Today's was filled with roasted pork tenderloin, banana peppers, and mixed cheeses, topped with a tomato cream sauce. What arrived was the biggest single piece of ravioli that I've ever seen in my life! The flavour of this was reminiscent of lasagna (which I love). I'm not a big fan of pork tenderloin in pasta, but there is something so comforting about a delicious, cheesy pasta that just warms my heart. It was so big that we only managed to eat one-third of it, and packed the rest home! Similarly, the bruschetta also changes daily. I ordered it the first time I was here (featuring smoked salmon) and was so blown away that there was no question that I had to get it again. Today, ours was topped with a creole red pepper cheese spread, shrimp, chorizo, spinach, tomatoes, cheddar and montery jack cheese. More red pepper and cheese!? I'm already sold! The bread was perfectly toasted and the toppings were like a rich symphony of indescribably delicious flavours! I really want to find out what kind of cheese blend the Left Bank uses, because it's so sinfully tasty! I swear it's the best I've ever had! The bruschetta was also supposed to be an appetizer, but the portion was huge! We ate half of it and packed the rest home. I think I just died and went to heaven. read more

We had dinner at left bank on a Tuesday night and it was relatively packed which is always a good sign for a restaurant. We had a reservation and we got seated immediately. Our server was nice, polite and helpful. All good things so far. We ordered a martini and a sangria before our food and had a glass of white wine and a beer with our food. All drinks were good. Nothing wrong, nothing extraordinary either. The food itself was a bit underwhelming particularly at this price point and with this reputation. We were served complimentary bread and butter to start which is nice. But, you may expect a nice piece of warm bread (maybe fresh) with house made compound butter Right? No. Unfortunately it was a piece of cold, mushy toast. I wish they had toasted the bread at least. I shared the "left bank calamari" as an appetizer. It was definitely not the best fried calamari I've had. Most pieces were chewy and I was not a fan of the cocktail sauce either. However it wasn't bad at all. For my main, I ordered from the daily special menu. I had the grilled swordfish with king crap cake. The swordfish was amazing. It was cooked beautifully. It was tender and juicy with a great cream sauce. The crab cake was dry though which was disappointing. The jasmine rice on the side could enjoy some sauce or seasoning and the green beans on the plate were definitely underdone. So, all in all, it was ok. But given the price point I won't be running back to try other items. read more

But my brunch experience yesterday was so good I had to say something....also it's selfish because I had a special and I want them to add it to the regular menu I had a grilled chicken, red pepper, and spinach crepe smothered in gruyere cheese sauce and oh my word it incredible. The service was really good. My friend mentioned to me that she would like hot sauce and our waiter happened to be walking by but was already past us, came back and offered her two different choices of hot sauce. The atmosphere in here is lovely. The servers and hostess are always friendly and accommodating. I went here recently, and had a dish that I have been getting for years! My favorite is the Penne Al'Arrabiata. I have also had the salmon and chicken cutlets, which are all amazing. I recently have become vegetarian so when I went here recently I got the Penne sans proscuitto and added fried banana peppers, and it was fantastic. The bathrooms are always clean as well! They used to serve homemade dipping oil with the bread they put out before your meal, I am assuming they don't anymore because of Corona. The oil was absolutely amazing, hopefully they bring it back once this is over! read more

I went to Left Bank for dinner last week as a celebration dinner when my boyfriend's dad was in town. We had gone once before, for a birthday, and had a good (but expensive) dinner. This time we started with the Santa Fe flatbread and gulf shrimp as appetizers. I didn't taste the shrimp, as there were three of us and only two shrimpies! The guys said it was fabulous. I thoroughly enjoyed the flatbread and honestly would have been perfectly happy with that as my meal. I loved the pico de gallo as the "tomato" component- so much fresher and more texturally satisfying than your typical pizza sauce. The flavors were fresh, exciting, and blended well. This was honestly my favorite part of the meal. For my entree, I got the penne arrabiatta with calamari. The calamari was fried and seemed kind of an afterthought, just sitting on top and not really blending with the dish. I guess that could have been expected, though. It also wasn't really seasoned. If I got that dish again, I would get it without the calamari. The pasta itself was perfection. As I was eating it, I realized that might be what I ordered the other time I was at Left Bank... guess I'm a creature of habit! The portion was huge... it essentially made two and a half meals because I ate it for lunch one day and had some left over still. I love how the prosciutto is cut in little matchsticks so it's not overwhelming but it doesn't get lost in the sauce and is easy to pick up along with the pasta. It definitely has a little heat to it, just the perfect amount of spice! For dessert, the three of us shared the carrot cake and chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake. The carrot cake was good but nothing special and not as moist as others I've had. I was very excited about the cheesecake but was a little disappointed. The chocolate seemed to be unsweetened and the bitterness really cut through the sweetness in a way that gathered over the course of a few bites. The "cookie dough" is a chocolate chip cookie crust. Maybe that's what I get for ordering a junk food sounding treat at a fancy restaurant? Service was good- our waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. read more

We went to The Left Bank last night for their traditional Price Fixe meal. The food and drinks were delicious and we were so grateful to them for providing on the holiday. Unfortunately, both of us were wakened in the middle of the night with terrible diarrhea that now, more than eight hours later, is still lingering. Usually the food at this restaurant is safe, but we cannot recommend it for the special occasions where an assembly line and mass turnout process is at hand. Compounding that is the addition of extra staff who may not be following protocol for health safety. read more

I invited my colleague here for a dinner after seeing so many nice review. The place is pretty especially in the fall scene. There are some little nice park and planting around the place, I stood outside while waiting for my friends coming in, and was very enjoying the view and environment. After we all got together, we settled in. The place was crowded around 7, every table was filled even in a weekday. Amazing! We ordered their signature calamari, ravioli to share, the homemade ravioli is delicious, even our international guest enjoyed very much. For the main course, I picked seafood pasta, the dish has all kinds of seafood, clam, shrimp, salmon, white fish, etc. I ate all the seafood, didn't really touch the pasta as the sauce was too salty and strong flavor. We also ordered the nut tart and cheese cake to share, both are quite tasty! Will revisit with my family next time. read more

I would've LOVED to give this place 5 stars but the service was nothing to rave about. The service = not good! We had 8pm reservations and had to wait about 15-20 minutes to be seated, and to be fair, what dining place isn't short staffed right now due to COVID?! We were seated around 8:20pm, and sat at the table for about 20 minutes until the hostess (very kind and understanding) came to our table and realized we hadn't had our drink order taken yet. She took the drink order and took care of us right away. We ordered an appetizer and salads for the table. 1/2 the salads came out and the appetizer. Once that was cleared, the other 1/2 of salads we ordered came out- just not well-orchestrated by our server. The food = OUTSTANDING I've never had a bad meal from Left Bank. Anything you order will be full of flavor and satisfying. Yes, I would recommend Left Bank to others, just plan on extra time in case the service is slow. read more

This past Tuesday night was my first experience at The Left Bank for a friends birthday. We had a reservation at 7 for 4 and were seated promptly. When you first walk in you're introduced to the bar area with the seating area off to the right hand side. The lighting is quite dark but that offers an intimate, candlelit mood. I enjoyed the decor of the building and table settings. To start off, the menu offers quite a variety of different things, appetizers, soups, Italian dishes, meat entrees and focaccia. The waitress also read us the specials of the day. They also have a pretty interesting $10 cocktail menu and I had a hard time choosing which one to try! I ended up trying a peach cocktail which was nicely blended and flavored and had a good balance of alcohol. For the food, my table started off with a bruschetta with pork appetizer. It did take quite a long time to come out, however it had a really nice flavor and presentation. For the main dish, I went with the Pasta and Seafood. It took 1.5 hours from the time we were seated to receive our entree. This was very disappointing. The server barely came to check on us at all during this hour and a half and our cocktails went dry for about an hour before she checked in to so we could order another while waiting. When the entrees finally came out I will say the dish was pretty interesting. It came with a variety of seafood with linguine pasta. The seafood in the dish however were quite small, teeny tiny muscles and clams which didn't seem fresh - not worth the $27! I was also disappointed because the menu did not state that the dish came with cheese on top and I'm currently not able to eat dairy. I ended up having to pick through much of the dish. Overall this restaurant has nice decor, cocktails and menu however the service and the wait for food to be served was very disappointing and why I'm not giving 5 stars. I will likely come back to try some of the other items and the menus and other cocktails, however I will prepare myself to wait 1.5 plus hours for food. read more

I am so happy that my girlfriend suggested the Left Bank for a late night "snack". It's one of those places that I've been going to for years, but overlook it when it comes time to pick a late night dinner spot. The atmosphere is alway super sultry & romantic & I can't say enough about the aesthetic of the entire dinner room. From the exposed brick to the artwork - I'm in love. Like I said, we were just looking for somewhere to get a nice, small, late night bite - so I ordered a cider & the mushroom soup. My girlfriend ordered the Grilled Shrimp on Artichoke Bottoms, both were divine. I'll pretty much order the mushroom soup every single time I'm there for dinner. It's the perfect combination of savory rich flavors & it's packed with wild mushrooms! This was my second time dining at LB. It's been said that LB is rated one of the top 10 restaurants in Buffalo, NY so we decided to give this establishment another try. We made reservations and was able to get an 8:30p slot. There is on-street parking but we were able to get a parking spot in the adjacent lot. Our hostess and our waiter was very pleasant. I enjoyed the atmosphere, and it's a very beautiful restaurant. One section of the dining room (upper level), the seating is a little to cramped and my chair was literally back to back to another person dining there. after we ordered our drinks were served complimentary bread with butter, which was delicious.We decided to try the fried calamari for an appetizer and it was very tasty especially with the dipping sauce on the side. For our entrees we ordered the ravioli special of the night and beef with noodles (I can't remember the name). The portions were huge but the dish itself was just ok. I'm not a big fan of a ton of cheese and everything was overly dressed in mozzarella cheese, on both entrees. We opted out for dessert and decided to call it a night. Overall a great dining experience but the entrees fell short of my expectations. read more

I'm a person who tends to order the special anywhere I go for two reasons; first, I may never get to have it again. Second, my hope is that the ingredients are seasonal/local/fresh. I have made two reservations to the left bank but only dined there one time. My first experience we had a 7:30 reservation but did not get seated until 7:45. Waiting a few minutes to be seated normally wouldn't be an issue except the table we sat at had not been occupied or dirty that entire time. The food and atmosphere was good not great especially considering $100+ price tag for a couple. The reason my review only has two stars is because of our second visit. We had made reservations a few days in advance with the hostess. However she sounded flustered on the phone so we made sure to double, triple check our date and time with her. However when we arrived at the restaurant later that week we were told we did not have reservations. I reassured her we had made reservations but had a hunch and asked her to check for our name for the following week. She quickly found it and I let her know of the mistake. The dining was over half empty at the time and I asked if we'd be able to be seated. The hostess said she was going to check and didn't return for 10+ minutes. When she came back she said it would be an hour wait! An hour wait when we had made reservations and on their end marked us down for the wrong date. We politely declined and made our way to Tappo and had an amazing dinner (5 stars). The poor service not the food will make us not return here again. During the entire encounter the hostess never showed understanding or care for the situation. If anything she seemed annoyed. We were there to celebrate and this could have very easily ruined our evening. When we bid her a farewell we did not receive one in return, during the entire encounter we didn't receive any type of an apology or recognition for the mistake. It was obvious our business and we as customers did not matter and I won't return to dine at a restaurant like that. read more

The left Bank is always consistent. I've been going there since the 90s. They have a wonderful tuna tartare appetizer, but what really got us hooked was the Artichoke stuffed Portabella mushroom. It's a great place for friends, couples and even small work parties. The staff is always nice and friendly. My favorite is Asian night which I believe is still Tuesday. They have hearty comfort food like the Tornados of Beef, Pasta or a good steak but if you're looking for something light they always have a great fish dish. read more
