Stephanie is an outstanding waitress at the diner. I feel obligated to counter the review of Stephen C. Stephen left out much of what actually occurred. You see his one friend who didn't receive the coffee had asked if she was on the menu and made multiple sexual innuendos during their interactions. He also threw his mug in front of other patrons where they were eating across the counter making a scene. He didn't get the desired attention because he could not act civil in a public place. I would think twice before trusting any review from Stephen C if he felt this behavior was appropriate. They should be quarantined from public places. read more

If you can't cook eggs, nothing else matters. I've been here at least six times in the past year. All for breakfast. Every friggin time the eggs are overcooked and dry. The cooks have no attention to taste. Great pride in your work a**holes. Look, I'll admit that since the change of ownership, it has gotten better. From NO stars to one. The biggest issue is the same that plagues so many restaurants. The menu is trying to be everything to everyone. And what happens is that most items taste the same. Boring, bland and lacking creativity and freshness. Limerick Diner has over 100 items on the menu. Do you really think they can execute each one consistently with fresh ingredients? Not hardly.They must have a huge freezer and dry storage area for all the crap they re-heat. I can't ignore the lack of fresh ingredients. They should have been working with the kitchen to provide fresh and creative menu choices. If you want re-heated frozen and canned food, then this is your spot. We were staying nearby and came by for a local brunch, complete with Mimosa! The portions of food are outrageous. You can't say you don't get your money's worth. The french onion was delicious! Food was so good that we came back that same evening with others who had just gotten into town. A little bit of a larger party, the service was a little slower, but the food was just as good. This place almost got a 5-star rating, but the infighting between the wait staff was a little unprofessional and distracting. But tradition is tradition, and my friends look to me to bust the chops of the crotchety old night-shift waitress' by asking her for the pie list-- not once, but twice. If I'm drunk, maybe three times. When she recites the catalog of pie, she doesn't look at a list. She mellifluously bellows that pie song from memory with lightning speed and accuracy. A true master of her craft--even at 2am. When I go to Limerick, I always order the same thing: grilled cheese sandwich, cup of coffee, slice of coconut custard pie. Salty, sweet, caffeiney. My best friend and I were looking for a quick bite to eat on our way to the Philadelphia Outlets, so we checked Yelp before heading out to get something. Since the Limerick Diner had better reviews than the Collegeville Diner, I figured, let's head there. Now, let me preface this by saying I'm originally from New Jersey, where diners are a state staple and one bad meal can ruin your business for life. I wish we had chosen to go to Sonic instead. Walking in the joint, yes, the decor is extremely dated. When you have several hundred dollars worth of tiny flat screens on the wall, but can't afford a minor face lift to your place, me wonders what kind of crowd are you looking to attract? My friend had the chicken cheese steak with fries while I opted for the breakfast option (going off of someone elses review) of the "Blueberry-tastic french toast." Our waitress raved about how everything was made on site and that the french toast was made with homemade Texas toast. My mouth started to water... I was so looking forward to my Sunday brunch-tastic treat. We got our drinks which made my eyebrows raise and led me to wonder if we shouldn't just cancel our order and head back to Sonic. Our water tasted like it had been sitting in a rusty metal cooler for about 5 years and the soda had a very bad aftertaste. The chicken cheesesteak was nothing fabulous and was definitely not on the level of Lee's Hoagie House. The "Blueberry-tastic french toast"... where to begin. When you are told that the chef makes the bread ON-SITE, you are expecting blueberry toast topped with powdered sugar. WRONG! I was given three slices of stale toasted bread with a little bit of cinnamon-sugar slapped on for sh*ts and giggles. Where did the blueberries come in? They were frozen blueberries out of a freezer bag, probably from the ACME down the street. They were mushy, no taste and gross. I was so disgusted with this meal. I have never seen something so grotesque. So I suggest you steer clear of the french toast, unless you like stale bread with frozen taste-less blueberries that are half frozen, half mush. So, being from NJ, this is a poor excuse for a diner and most likely, would be lambasted by any self-loving diner-going New Jersian. There was a time that this was probably the best diner in all of Western Montgomery County, but that was a long a time ago. Severall years back, the diner changed ownership and opted to focus on flat screen TVs and a liquor license in lieu of being a diner. They had the best cream-chipped beef on toast around, but seemed to have lost that recipe during the management change. luckily, there are other breakfast spots up and down the Ridge that remeber people go out on Sunday mornings to EAT. read more

We have visited the Limerick Diner four times. There will not be a fifth. Our first visit was great. Service was fantastic, the food was great. It was a really great experience. Our second visit was for dessert only. The dessert was good. Service was fast and friendly. Not quite as good as the first, but good. Our third visit. On the third visit the food was still good, but service was horrible. We were seated and told that someone would be right with us. 10 minutes later, our drink order was still not taken. Other table around us were seated, their drink orders were taken and received and their order taken. Finally, the bartender, who seemed to be put out, decided to come over and take our drink order. Then a waitress showed up to take our drink order. We told her the bartender took. She said she would get them and be back for our order. She apologized for the wait and we seemed to be off running after a rough start. Not really. It seemed like another 10 minutes before she came back with the drinks. She said she would be right back for our order. We said that we had plenty of time and were ready to order now. She was clearly annoyed with this, but took our order. Now the real waiting started. People who were seated after us, were now leaving and still hadn't received our order. We finally got our food (I lost track of how long it took), which was good, but still. When we went to the counter to check out, I was ready to tell the owner, but he didn't ask, clearly was not in a good mood and didn't even look at me. Okay, every place and person can have a bad day. Our 4th visit, to save everybody time, was almost the same as the 3rd, except the food was terrible. Again, the person who appeared to be the owner seemed as disinterested in me as he was in making sure his (soon to be ex) customers got good service and food. I understand that the diner is a local institution (I just moved here a year ago), but its time has clearly passed and we will not visit again. read more

Once upon a time, going to the Limerick Diner was much like taking a field trip to another culture in another world. It was smokey and gross, but the only place to go out in the booneys. The Limerick Diner is a totally different place now. The food was great -- I had an egg dish, and my dining companion had a chicken cordon bleu wrap. We started with a feta cheese appetizer which was huge, and more than enough for 3 or 4 people. The service was fantastic -- which is becoming increasingly rare. It wasn't as cheap as you might imagine a diner to be... but then... which diners are, actually? AND I had a glass of chardonnay with dinner. It doesn't get much better than that. Well it's been about 10 years since this review and we gave the Limerick Diner another shot. I'm dropping it from 2 stars to 1. Horrible place. Food was so bad I had to go to Chick Fil A afterwards to actually eat a real meal. This place had the driest pancakes ever. Like Guinness should come and give them a spot in the book for how dry and bad these pancakes were. Home fries? Dry dry dry, like they'd been made yesterday and reheated. The worst part was the bill. It was so expensive given what we ordered! Whatever happened to diners being the affordable option with hearty homemade meals heaped onto your plate? They started serving alcohol, so I decided to give it a shot...First, the drinks took FOREVER to get to the table. Second I suspect.... that they didn't put any alcohol in my drink!! Sure I asked for a dirty martini, but it was definitely all olive juice. On a slow Tuesday evening we wanted to try this place since we just moved to the neighborhood. We walked in at the same time as an elderly couple. The waitress had to interrupt her conversation about wanting time off in order to greet us. The elderly couple ahead of us was seated. Then we were seated way in the back away from other diners. We waited for anyone to come to the table. After 15 minutes of listening to the waitresses at the front chat with each other we got up and left. I just don't understand why the food at the Limerick Diner isn't HOT. I've been there several times and each time something on my plate is room temp. Yesterday it was my fries. YUCK! Last month I had eggs Benedict and the egg was over cooked and room temp. Definitely a bummer. My companion had a breakfast dish that had lukewarm hashbrowns in which the outside of the potatoes were brown and crispy, but the inside were not hot and were mushy. My Greek salad didn't have any dressing and had only 2 small squares of feta. Disappointed. Although I've had failures as described above I still hit the Limerick Diner occasionally. Now...if the guy at the register could just SMILE once in a while it would be a bit more pleasant. read more

Eh, I remember it being much better. We've eaten here several times, mostly because there's not a whole lot of competition in the general vicinity, especially in the off hours. The food is fast and edible, and that's on a good day. On a bad day, well...... Breakfasts are okay - nothing special. Sometimes they're good, sometimes they're not. I guess it depends on the kitchen. Burgers are .... nothing special either, unless you count being completely overwhelmed by the HUGE thick bun the regular sized burger patty is served on. Fries are kind of gross, covered in some kind of coating that's supposed to make them crunchier. I do not like coated fries. Avoid the "onion soup" at all costs. I can't even call it French Onion because it bears little resemblance to French Onion Soup. I'm pretty sure theirs is onions griddled on the flat top and scooped into some chicken broth, then covered with a burger bun and a slice of cheese. It's gross, which I guess is good because it won't make the other equally gross soups feel bad. They told us they couldn't make Fettuccini Alfredo because they were down a cook and couldn't make sauces. Really slow service. It was a Saturday night around 7:00 and only one waitress for 6 booths and 4 tables. I decided to go Greek and Italian. The owners were Greek. It took 20 minutes to get our appetizer, feta cheese, dolma,cues, olives, etc. The feta was tasteless but the rest of the salad OK. Glass of wine finally came with entree another 15 minutes later. Soup was tepid as was my chicken parm - must have been waiting for the server too long. I had 2 spoonfuls of the lobster bisque - ugh- didn't touch it after that. What happened to this place? First, we walked in and were ignored for 5 minutes. Not even an "I'll be right with you". It was not busy. There were 4 of us. We were seated to a sticky table and dirty silverware. We asked for new silverware and it took ten minutes. She finally took our drink order and came back about 5 min. later. We were then given menus. She came back and we ordered our food, a salad, a hot roast beef sandwich, eggs, sausage and toast, and a chicken parm. 40 minutes later, our food arrived. The eggs were cold, as was the toast. The sausage was overcooked and like chewing rubber. The hot roast beef sandwich was cold, but besides the grizzly meat, had some flavor. The chicken parm was bland, the spaghetti that came with it was so watery that the entire plate was just covered in water. The salad actually had wilted lettuce and pretty much, that was unedible. How do you mess up salad? Obviously our food was not going to be eaten. We had just wasted our time and money. We would have sent some things back had the waitress actually come back! She talked to coworkers at the counter the entire time about looking for another job. We got up to pay for our food, stood waiting another 5 min. for someone to realize we were there, but they didn't, I had to walk over and get someone. She actually asked if everything was okay. Long time passer by, first time eater at the Limerick Diner. Wife, cousin, and I went for lunch and all felt we got our diner fix. My wife and cousin's wraps were good and the fries were done right. My eggs Benedict was a little on the bland side and the potatoes also lacked much taste. Both of these were remedied with a little salt and ketchup. My wife's hot chocolate was out of this world good with a huge dollop of whipped cream. What I really liked was the waitresses were super family friendly and helped several kids sitting around with there meals. They were more than happy to help cut up spaghetti and pancakes to help out the little kiddos. Overall, food 3.5 and family oriented service 4.5. read more

Complete honesty: the food is bad. (So bad that at night the only 100% agreed upon safe option is toast.) The service is fine if you're not in a rush nor expecting a lot. Breakfast is bearable, but not outstanding in a town with a lot of options. The ridiculous fighting & personal business that goes on between the staff and manager's on the phone is extremely unprofessional and uncalled for. Most times we have been seated right away, but then wait upwards of 20-30 minutes for our order to be taken. I don't know if this is due to the late hour or incompetance. The food is okay. Not world class, but not horrible. Portions could be bigger for the prices. Would I eat there again? I've been here at least 4 times. Their menu is so extensive. I love any place that serves breakfast 24/7 and here it's pretty good. The customer service is nice and funny. Want great? Check out the desserts at the front. They're made daily by the owner of the diner. The cheesecake is glorious (had both Snickers and Reese's). Another sad diner moment this side of the delaware. Ordered several dinner items and was not impressed one bit and I had high hopes since they were a 24/7 and had delivery...Angus Burger sliders...a frozen premade patty that was cut into 4's and put on their day old dinner rolls...onions and pickles were a rough chopped large dice relish and cheese was unmenlted. French Onion Soup crouton was also a slice of there leftover dinner rolls however soup itself was very tasty. Salad was day or two old iceberg with browning edges. Honey fried chicken was frozen and deep fried however half the breading had fallen off. Onion rigs were battered but slightly cool and very greasy. Mashed potatoes were instant but gravy helped. Dinner partner had Turkey and stuffing was burnt. We were also treated to the complaints of the staff about room temp and the grumpy response from the male employees who were looking into the situation. However after listening to the other diners ordering IF i were to go back I would order breakfast and NOT any appetizers. read more

Great diner with great food. Service is fast and good as well ... unless you come late at night. We've eaten here countless times, and their breakfast and lunch items are consistently good. Portions are VERY generous. They're very accommodating if you want to change up an order. Food comes out quickly and they've never gotten something wrong. Service is normally very attentive, but we came once at 130am and were very frustrated. Apparently it's seat yourself (even if the sign says wait to be seated), and apparently you're expected to grab menus off the table next to ya. We waited a long time for the waitress to stop texting and take our order. Afterwards, the food came out quickly (and it was gooooood), but again, we practically had to wave our hands to get the waitress to come over. I know it's a crappy shift to work, but hey, people come to diners late at night because we're buzzed and we want some good breakfast food. If you don't treat us like absolute crap, our judgement is impaired and we'll probably overtip! Just sayin! Some family just moved around the corner so on our first visit a few weekends ago, we gave the diner a try and were not disappointed! We were there with our two toddler girls - came in from a torrential downpour and managed to best the early birds in. All of us enjoyed our food greatly and the portions were generous. We enjoyed soups, salads, meat loaf with mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, grilled cheese, and chocolate pudding to top it all off. The kids' mac & cheese could definitely have fed them both- it's an adult sized helping! Our server, Carmela, could not have been kinder or more attentive. She checked on us often, engaged with our girls, and made sure that everything was going well. At the end of the meal she even brought over napkins wet with warm water to wipe our girls' faces and hands. She complimented us on how well our girls behaved and we assured her, it really could have gone the other way but we got lucky that day. Maybe it was partly her kindness that helped them be settled and comfortable. :) The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is, I'm extremely picky about diners (being originally from NJ which is the diner capital of the universe.) I ordered a side of fries and they came seasoned- not just salted but with some other kind of seasoning. If I order fries, I'm expecting just fries with salt. That's the diner standard as everyone knows. The menu or server should disclose that the fries are seasoned. Anyway, now I know for next time to ask for them plain, and I hope this helps some other poor unsuspecting patron who just wants some nice, plain, salted diner fries. Limerick Diner is great for brunch and late night munchies. Great service. Love the eggs benedict menu and the waffles. Better than the Collegeville Diner, also open 24/7. Over the years, I've made some great friends here. Best part: they have a limo that will pick you up and take you to the diner and take you home. This place has all the charm of a methadone clinic. The wait staff all seem to resemble Tonya Harding. There were cigarette burns in the booth but they went nicely with the mouse droppings on the ground. Other than that, the food was subpar and a tadbit overpriced. My family use to really enjoy coming here but recently it's just been bad. Our waitress wasn't at fault she seemed to be new and we don't blame her for the cold food or the hostel cashier. The food is alright for diner food but my egg salad was awful. I took one bite and I knew I had to just stop eating. My boyfriend's open face turkey sandwich was cold in the middle. Breakfast food seems to be fine though. The pancakes looked great from what I saw from other tables. My biggest complaint would be the cashier. She didn't even say hi or ask how the food was or anything. Even an acknowledging nod would have been nice when she took my cash. When I asked a simple question just to create small talk she immediately answered in a snarky tone. I just chalked it up to probably being in a bad mood but then why work in the service industry if you can't even put on a small smile.
