This was our first time at Lockwood on our last day in Denver before flying back home. My wife was craving a charcuterie board and we saw from previous reviews that they seem to have a good one. Alas, they changed their menu and the charcuterie board is not available anymore. But anyways we still decided to take a look at the menu, tried the baked Brie which was good. The main reason for the three stars was the underwhelming cocktails, which were definitely not worth their price. There are many cocktail bars in Denver offering outstanding cocktails at better price than what is offered at Lockwood. The place was empty on a Monday at lunch time so there was no excuse for the low quality of the drinks since the bartender wasn't busy at all.

A raw hamburger that was supposed to be medium.

I asked for a medium burger and they served me a raw hamburger. A cool raw center. Definitely do not recommend.

Our server was amazing!! The quality of food is great. Prices are good for this area of town. The ambiance here is cool and Laid back.

One small slice of shriveled cheese in the center of the bread.

I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato bisque. There was one small piece of cheese that had shriveled to the center of the bread. It was terrible!!! Basically I was eating toast. The soup was to be served warm and it was almost cold. My husband had cheese nachos. Way more chips than cheese. We were in from out of town and were excited to try. Our server asked about our meal. I told him politely about my sandwich and he could care less so I didn't mention my husbands nachos. We paid our tab and left. $16.00 each, before adding tax and tip. Made me sad. Poor food and poor service. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!!

The Lockwood is located in the lobby of the Crowne Plaza hotel... super convenient if you're staying there! They offer seating around the bar, as well as tables spread out around the room. If you're staying at the hotel and an IHG member, they'll give you a coupon for 10% off your meal. The menu is a bit pricey, as expected for being located at the hotel, but they offer a wide variety of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. I chose the spiced pear & goat cheese salad with chicken. I thoroughly enjoyed the salad, especially the goat cheese balls. I wasn't as impressed with the chicken. It was okay but nothing special. I would have been just as happy with the salad had I not added it. If you're in a rush, I'd recommend sitting at the bar, as the bartender was also in charge of serving the tables. He checked in when he could but admitted the bar had him pretty busy.

Awesome, B&B Burger and a Porter on tap!

I was in town for a real estate event and stayed at he Crown Plaza for one night of the two day event. After returning to the hotel from the day long event I went to my room freshened up and then downstairs to the Lockwood. Found a spot at the bar and ordered the B&B Burger and something on tap. Don't recall the beer but it was nice. The burger was amazing and one of the best I've had ever, cooked to perfection with delicious fries. Could have gone for seconds, Heheh! The only reason I didn't go 5 stars on the review was because the service was a bit off. They were either under staffed or over worked or both. I hope to get the opportunity to go back though when I'm back in Denver.

Stayed at the Sonesta from Thursday to Sunday and the food and drinks have been good and consistent each time. Stop by and see Chuck at the bar. He can mix up anything you have a taste for. However the real star is Terrance the chef. He is AWESOME! Let him feed you, you will not be disappointed.

Chicken wings with buffalo sauce on the side
    Alpha N.

I ordered chicken wings with buffalo sauce on the side and asked them to replace the fries with a salad. The lady who took my order happily obliged but cautioned me that the salad would be very simple. She was right - the salad did provide the vegetables I needed - but didn't deliver on the taste. The wings were alright, but would have been a lot better with a couple more minutes in the fryer and a sprinkling of salt. The buffalo sauce was heavy on the vinegar and lacked flavor. The celery and carrots that came with the order were fresh and crunchy and the bleu cheese sauce was good. The takeout order was ready in ten minutes and the service was efficient and friendly. Will I order these again? Maybe if I'm really, really hungry and there's not much else to choose from. *sigh

I'm going to admit-- I was a little hesitant about going into a hotel lobby restaurant. The YELP reviews just kept nagging at me- so my friend and I gave it a whirl while visiting downtown Denver for a conference. Their Manhattan cocktail, made to my "less sweet is more" specifications was awesome. I had 2!! We each ordered their chicken dishes. Mine was pan roasted chicken breast with fingerling mashed potatoes. He had the oven roasted with mushroom wine sauce. Hands down his had more flavor! Both entrees served tender chicken. We split an arugula salad, avocado, cucs, goat cheese. We loved it! I'd go back-- even for a hotel lobby restaurant. Service was attentive and friendly.

Absolutely blown away by the awesome drinks prepared by London. This guy seriously knows his s***! I had him surprise me with cocktails he suggested and man, I found some of my new favorites. Highly recommend stopping in for a cocktail. You will not be disappointed!

This was a great find. I expected another hotel restaurant, in another city, on another business trip, but wow, this was a good time. The bartender was amazingly friendly. He talked to me about the cocktails, and even experimented with a few that we discussed. Ended up creating the perfect rum cocktail. The sirloin was also phenomenal, and again at the bartenders suggestion. I know where I will be staying in future trips to Denver.

Other times I'm just in the mood for a cocktail that reminds me why I don't waste my time at places that think whiskey and cola is "craft." This visit was all about the cocktails, and Seven Grand absolutely delivered. Josh, our bartender, was running the room like a conductor leading an orchestra of happy whiskey drinkers. He asked what we liked, made a couple of recommendations for Old Fashioneds based on our preferences, and absolutely nailed it. Every drink was balanced, flavorful, and dangerously easy to sip. The guy knows his whiskey, knows his cocktails, and somehow still manages to make everyone at the bar feel like they're his only customer. The whiskey selection is enough to make a bourbon nerd lose all sense of financial responsibility, but surprisingly, we escaped without needing to refinance the house. If Josh doesn't own Seven Grand, someone should probably look into fixing that. Until then, I'll keep showing up to "try just one drink"... knowing full well that's a lie I tell myself every single time. Highly recommend. Just don't blame me when two hours mysteriously disappear.

Drinks in hand we headed back to spend time with Forrest, who took us on a brief tour of the facility. He gave us the history of how Stranahan's started. It was interesting to learn that they bottle by hand. We came to our tasting set up. At each couple there were jars with items to smell that would be aromas or tastes we would experience, like rose, leather, tobacco, and cinnamon. There were four tastes paired with caramel, cheese, chocolate and fig. Each pairing brought out different flavors in the whiskey samples. First, wife is a vegetarian and they had no mains other than Mac and cheese for her. She ordered the salad without chicken which was $25. They knocked it down to $22 after I asked why it was the same price without meat, which still seemed like a lot for a salad with no protein. Kids' Mac and cheese was not the same receipe as last time; it was a different noodle and seemed to be needing some salt as it was pretty bland. My fried chicken and waffles was ok--the breading was a bit soggy though and I much preferred the Nashville hot chicken from my last visit. Started off down stairs but came up to the rooftop to sit closer to the Tv's. The bartender was good, the food came out quickly. The drinks were a little inconsistent. I got the same cocktail three times and each time they came out very different. The reason I took off two stars was because of the other patrons and disrespect of the staff. We were clearly there to watch the game, not a small game but the World Series! With 2 innings left another table came in and decided to be obnoxious. It was a family, and they asked to put on college baseball. The waiter went and changed the channel and the sound without asking or saying anything. We asked why they changed it because we were watching and he said it is still showing on a TV on the other side of the room. We would have had to move our table, food and drinks after we had been there for hours. Inevitably we were not able to finish the game and had to watch it on our phones. Of course the family who requested the change, wasn't even watching the games they asked to put on. No one asked us or even acknowledged until I asked. It was beyond rude and disrespectful, I doubt I will never come back here for a game after that experience. The entire situation was uncomfortable, and I can't help but think they wouldn't have done that if it was a group of men watching. Major bummer because the food and location is pretty good. Overall, 2/5 stars.
