Love the patio! Great place to people watch- the food is AMAZING, I highly recommend the grilled flank steak salad. The wait staff are all pretty much rock stars! Came here for a Saturday night and it was just aweful! The bar counter takes up nearly the entire bar, so its just like a hallway for standing/walking around with your drinks. Everyone shoves each other because there is no room to walk, there are TWO stalls in the women's restroom so it is always a hell of a wait, and the drinks are overpriced. I was really surprised to read all the reviews (after going here) talking about what a great dance place the Loop is. We got there a little before 10pm on Friday and although there was a noticeable change at 10 - all the women bartenders disappeared and suddenly all men appeared (I'm assuming because everyone on my side of the bar was a lady - and a DJ started playing, no one was dancing. And the sound system is not good. But I didn't go there to dance so that's okay. I did go there for a drink and it was not the worst Old Fashioned ever, but it was not good. read more

A great addition to the Warehouse district, it provides a comfortable classy restaurant and bar without the fuss of parking and drunk college kids at the bars further in downtown. The food was good, especially the pizzas - its not your typical bar food at all. The service was good too - I'll be headed back to check it out some more - I understand they have DJ's on the weekend. I had eaten at the Loop in West End a few times before visiting this location and was surprised at how different the aesthetic and atmosphere is at the downtown location. The food choices appeared the be about the same if not exactly and I went with the steak and carnitas tacos and my boyfriend and I both did the build your own old fashion (I chose knob creek, grapefruit bitters and muddled with cranberry - wow was it delicious). Wow, I did not realize the Loop can hold this many people until making a stop on Friday. The whole place was pretty much a dance floor and was packed with people. Honestly I think this place could be amazing if the staff was changed... went here today for happy hour, not too terribly busy, maybe all of 30 people in the bar and 2 bartenders. Took me almost 20 minutes to get my first beer while waiting for my girlfriend to get there after work. The prices were better than reasonable, premium beers for only $3 and house wine only $3 too. Only gripe was with the service, my 3rd beer the bartender gave to me for free, because she left me hanging for almost 15 minutes while she bull shitted with some people down the bar...AFTER she took my order. I agree, the Loop, is definitely a hot-spot but for all kinds...20's, 30's and 40's. The atmosphere is really inviting and the decor is exceptional. I don't mind the plasma TV's myself although it does indicate a thematic mix of sports bar meets romantic, hip, classic meeting place. Busy nights are BUSY and, yes, getting the attention of bar staff can be challenging. They aren't ignoring rather overwhelmed. All staff, though, are amazingly friendly and as attentive as possible. My daughter recently moved into the North Loop area to be closer to work. She was excited to take us to some of the restaurants she has frequented. We arrived and ordered our drinks. My husband ordered a coffee. We ordered an appetizer of cheese curds. We ordered our meals and my husband also ordered a bowl of soup. He was asked if he wanted the soup as his one side dish and he agreed. Our food came, so we told them to cancel the appetizer since we had not received it. Not even an apology from the two staff members. My husband finally got his coffee after asking for it three times. Now, the food was delicious, so I understand why our daughter brought us here. However, the service is awful. The bill came and there was a charge for the soup. When we asked about it, the server stated there was an upcharge for the soup. She had not mentioned that at all. So even though the food was great, the service was so bad that my daughter is crossing this restaurant off as a place to bring friends and family who visit her. read more

I had the buffalo wings with blue cheese dressing. Made just how I like-not so wet you need a million napkins, but not completely dry either (wet nap provided). My 3 companions each had a different burger and were disappointed. "Needs some seasoning" was the main complaint for burger and fries. Manager tells us it was chicken, comes up with EVERY excuse in the boom, but made NO attempt to make it right. Just moved to Minneapolis from Seattle and this was the first place my wife and I decided to try since it's across the street from our apartment. Free appetizer coupon for being new to the neighborhood was a plus. Burgers were AMAZING. Not a huge fan of garlic fries in general but there's were good for what they were. Was there during a Vikings game and it wasnt too crazy packed. Had a DJ playing music during commercial breaks which I loved. Overall it was a good first experience and I will definitely be going back. If they had regular fries as an option (didn't see that on the menu) then I would've given then 5 stars. read more

The bad customer service outweighs how good the food is. I'm staying at the TownePlace Suites nearby, which advertises The Loop to be their closest option to room service. They suggest calling them to place the order - but why does no one answer? 11 times in a row? On a Saturday at 6pm? And then when I use their online ordering app, am charged for my meal and then wait for an hour - I get a phone call saying no one is picking up at the restaurant and that I'll get refunded in 3-5 days? When I was finally able to place my order and it came, I calmly tried explaining the situation to the 2 women who delivered my food. One of them literally just walked away from me. Ma'am? You need to do better. Like, WAY better. Especially after I just told you how long I was waiting for my order. What a mess. Not a dime more from me. read more

I go to the loop when I wanna dance my ass off. The loop has good looking people and sometimes good music if they let me run the set ;) It's the bar where everyone knows your name but it can get old after awhile. You'll run into the occasional vomit on the ground which is why I'm giving 3 stars. Ick. However, there's no cover, you don't have to deal with douchey doormen, or long drink waits. I enjoy the Loop from time to time. Drinks are cheap, you can dance if you want to, and the people watching is great. $5 Valet Parking doesn't hurt, either. Plus it's downtown-y but not stuffed to the brim with 21 year olds that look more like they belong more at Spin than a bar. That being said, there are definitely guys just trolling for their lady du jour, you'll notice them when you walk in the door, they will give you a look that implies they want to lick your face off. Probably the busiest joint in the North Loop. Multi-functional place. Great for a business lunch, they have incredible salads which are huge but also pretty darn healthy. During Happy Hour they have a nice free buffet including all kinds of fruits and proteins. In the late night hour, you might come hear, and there's a 64% chance you won't remember it the next day. My experience was ok. The food was good but the sevice was super slow. Our server was very nice though. I do have to say that some of the people who go there are very snobby. The couple sitting next to us decided to very clearly talk under thier breath about us smoking. Mind you we were outside. Finally they asked us to not smoke until they were done with their meal. i was in town for a work seminar and wanted to grab a few drinks with an old friend. he lived near this bar so we walked over. it was this past tuesday night and we were there from about 11pm-1am. there was a handful of people that had on twins gear so im assuming they came from the game. the atmosphere wasnt anything great but im sure it would be fun on a weekend night. the place is configured to have a dance floor with lounge type areas on the side with the bar in the middle. their posted specials seemed good. we drank rail whiskey that came out to $2.50/drink or so. not sure if the bartender gave us any free rounds but overall it was very reasonable. id go back to check this place out on a weekend. read more

I was here for the University of North Dakota college hockey watch party for the national championship. They were obnoxiously understaffed. I felt bad for our server. She made a lot of mistakes but she also had way too many tables. Considering they were hosting the official alumni association watch party, I was hoping their management would have planned ahead. The waitress was very friendly, but in no hurry. The drinks were the typical price you expect from a downtown bar/restaurant. I did not enjoy some of the patrons attitude towards me about smoking outside. I expect no complaints when I am sitting outside and the table comes with an ashtray on it before I even sit down.. I find the Loop to be decent but some of their patrons deserve zero stars. I've been to Minneapolis two times. My first visit, I went to loop and loved it so much that I made my friend take me there when I visited again (which was two whole years later). The fries are still amazing and the grilled cheese was on point. What made the meal perfect was the dirty martini with the stuffed olives.
