Okay, so we've lived in downtown Minneapolis for 4 years, and had yet to experience The Loop, but mostly because it was always too busy or they had a DJ playing around the time we would usually eat dinner. However, we went for a lovely brunch last Saturday and have been kicking myself that we waited so long to visit the place. This is a good sports bar atmosphere. The beef skewer appetizer was great. The warm spinach salad was warmer than I was expecting and was more like sautéed spinach but was still good. My co worker felt the mahi-mahi was average and the salmon was good. There are three dollar tap beers during happy hour. It ends at 630. read more

Just had a dinner date this evening. The food is consistently good, but dear GOD! Take the crappy chain-like items off of the menu. The chicken and potatoes is awesome, the pizzas amazing, the salads incredibly well done. The wraps? The turkey burger? It's like someone is throwing in the towel and giving up to the tastes of Applebee's fans. Biggest tip? Avoid anything that looks like it could be boring. Chicken sandwich? Meh. Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich? Amazeballs. Great beer, great wine, amazing service....but please, ditch the crap items that look horrific! Here on business from California. Was walking for lunch looking for a place to eat. Saw the menu here and the prices were reasonable. Walked in and the atmosphere was great. Not a lot of noise which was surprising for lunch time. Ordered a Fully Loaded Blue Burger and it was delicious. Only downside is they didn't have my favorite soda Dr. Pepper, other than that love the place and I'd recommend it to anyone in the area. The waitress was friendly and very courteous. read more

I ordered a "build your own" burger ordered through Bite Squad. Not a big fan of soggy fries, limp almost undercooked bacon, or a burger patty that was ordered as "medium" being completly pink and luke warm on the inside and well done on the outside. Ok I'm weighing in on this trash heap! I live nearby and just moved to town. I thought I'd check out my next door bar. seemed like a good way to meet some neighbors and relax after work. Well I haven't tried the food, but the options for beer on tap are really weak. before 9 it's not a bad place to catch a drink with a friend, but now I'm going to roast these clowns! After 9 as mentioned in other reviews, it turns into a nightclub type place, and well...... I saw the posse of suburban moms as mentioned. tons of college guys that would jump anything and of course lots of low class women.... yes I met a couple cool people who I chatted with there and that's great, but the staff did keep pouring beer when I told them to stop and didn't let me finish the last one before kicking everyone out even though they gave me a beer 5 minutes before closing. These guys get 1 star for weak patrons, and the worst bartenders ever for the garbage they pulled at the end of the night. It's never happened to me before and the Yelp rating needs to sick for these dudes! and yes the music is really loud and super weak. I guess weak is the word for The Loop read more

Food was above average. We went on a slow night. I picked out a beer from one of their 5 tap selections and had a good burger. There were very few people in the place, but it was the slowest possible service. It should not take an hour to get our food and it should not take 45 minutes and asking twice to get a check. I've been there twice for Happy Hour and it's been great. They treat you well, the drinks are cheap and the appetizers were wonderful. Try the chicken nachos, the best I've ever had. The calamari was really good too, which is surprising considering it's a bar! Usually calamari at a bar is nothing other than deep fried rubber bands, The Loops are crispy, hot and delicious. Oh, and the big comfy booths are the best! So much better than being stuck on a stool at a high top table. Can't comment on the music, dancing, etc., I'm old, I don't stay out that late. : ) read more

Don't bother with the Loop Bar for ToGo! 2nd time in two weeks I tried the Loop Bar for dinner to go. The first time I waited for ever on a very busy night to be seen and as a result the Rosemary Garlic Chicken was barely warm when I arrived home (across the street). The chicken was so salty that I couldn't eat more than half. I called just to let them know and the manager/host responded "no one else has complained". I should have learned. So tonight I ordered a sandwich and fries and the Mac & Cheese. Upon arriving at a much quieter bar I was greeted quickly but told it would be another 5 minutes. Unfortunately I could see when the bartender returned that half my order was in the window. After 15 minutes, I asked if he could check again. Sure enough he grappled the bags that had been sitting in the window to the side. The Mac & Cheese was barely warm. And sadly the sandwich and fries were soggy, damp and cool with condensation. I decided to return the items but that took another 10 minutes only to be told they really didn't know how to do the refund. Betting the authorization will be on there for a week. There are plenty of efficient places for take out in the North Loop - Freehouse is fast and efficient as is the Smack Shack and of course Black Sheep Pizza is very fast. Avoid the Loop Bar for take out. Maybe for dining in they are fine but they clearly find to go a bother and too much to handle even when slow! read more

I am writing this review about the food only in the hope the restaurant will see it. The review is only about the food, I have never actually been inside but I have gotten delivery twice now. This place is soooo close to being great. Sooooo close. their fried mozzarella is the best quality milky silky cheese with an excellent bread coating. The problem is that they are huge round slabs of cheese that are too thick to either melt hardly at all or find a balance with the coating. Cut them in half so that they are still round but thinner and they will be the greatest fried mozzarella ever. The chicken fingers again were great quality, the meat and the breading- the care in preparation was evident, but they were so salty I couldn't really enjoy it. The calamari was really good, it was salty but not as heavily as the chicken, and the top on the container should have been vented as a couple of pieces were soggy from the steam. The sauces were really good. The burger was tasty and the house salad was far and away the best house salad ever. Its clear to me they are doing stuff by hand at this joint, not just unloading the freezer into the deep fryer. I will continue to try them and hope that this helps - though I wont be ordering the fried mozzarella again til there is a picture on bite squad that shows more and thinner slices read more

I can't stand this place on the weekends when they move all the tables so all the kids can dance to blaring top 40 music, but I have to say the food is pretty good. The food has good flavor. Food was a bit on the colder side when it came out. The fish tacos have the flour tortillas cold so if you like them warm, order something else. The waitresses are not as friendly as other bars I visit. Overall, good place to watch a football game. NFL Sunday ticket is available. Not a place for a conversation due to loud background music. read more

September 7, 2018 -- A buddy and I decided to try some place different than our normal H Hour spots. Decided on Loop Bar due to its North Loop location (slightly off hustle & bustle of central downtown). It also has a nice sidewalk patio where we could enjoy one of the last few nice weather days of the season. At this point I'll disclose that I'm African-American Male and so is the buddy that I was meeting. I was wearing dress shirt, dress pants and dress shirt - since I came straight from the office. Roughly 3:10 pm (Friday) Afternoon I arrive first. I noticed one group of patrons sitting outside - went inside to bathroom. On way back out I ask bartender if I order inside, or if there's a waitress outside? She (bartender) says there's a waiter outside. I go outside and sit 2 tables down from only other group outside. Keep in mind there's no one sitting at the bar inside and only one other patron sitting at a booth/table inside. I wait for my buddy at an empty table for roughly 10 minutes (zero recognition from waitress). Keep in mind she's come outside at least 2 times to help only other group outside. My buddy arrives another 5 minutes later - I tell him I have no idea what's going on (but I have a clue). Again we're sitting at an empty table (no water -- nothing). I set my phone timer for 5 minutes for when I'll go inside to figure out what happening. Waitress comes out an addition time while my buddy in present to help the only other group outside - then goes back inside without acknowledging us again. Finally my timer goes off - so I'm guessing I've been sitting there for 20 - 25 minutes in a virtually empty restaurant/bar without any sort of acknowledgement. I go inside wait at end of bar for bartender to come over and I ask if all the tables outside were there's (keep in mind there are only 5 or 6 tables total outside). Bartender goes yes - I'm sorry maybe waitress didn't see you - LIKE THIS WAS THEIR PLANNED ROOSE/EXCUSE "WE DIDN'T SEE YOU"? I go - no she saw us and I'm not sure what's going on--- I placed our order and took my initial drinks outside myself. I made a point to make it clear to the bartender that I was looking around the basically empty bar restaurant (bartender, waitress, and possibly some sort of a manager). So essentially the ratio of wait staff to total patrons is 1 to 1. After I've taken care of my initial round of drinks on my own --- waitress finally comes over and says "I'm sorry I didn't see you guys - SOUND FAMILIAR?). NOTE: THERE ARE NO OBSTRUCTIONS - WE WERE LITERALLY SITTING 2 TABLES DOWN FROM THE GROUP SHE CHECKED IN ON AT LEAST 3 TIMES?? IF I'M A WAITRESS AND I'M RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL OF THE TABLES OUTSIDE --- IS IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO COME OUT 3 TIMES AND NOT SEE SOMEONE SITTING THERE??? I DON'T THINK SO. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt --- maybe she's on drugs and is high? I understand there's a great deal of this that goes on in the service industry. NO - This would not explain how she could be so attentive to the other group. It only leave a few other explanations: (1) She does not like African-Americans/ Black People --- and really wanted us to just leave without her having to wait on us. (2) The management / ownership group has created a culture that discourages black patronage - or makes it very clear that African-American/ Black people are not welcome at Loop Bar Minneapolis. If we were not hungry and had not found metered parking right in front of the place we would've left. The sad thing about the whole story is that my buddy left her a decent tip in hopes she'll treat the next African-American Patrons better. I'd love to hear some sort of an uncanned response from ownership/management. read more

The Loop is one of my favorite places in Minneapolis! Food is always great, service is quick and friendly and it's such a fun atmosphere! The Cinnamon Swirl French toast on the weekend brunch menu is to die for and any other time of day the nachos, fried chicken sandwich and Loop burger are my go to items! Visited at 4:00 pm on December 27, 2016 (Tuesday) the bartender with Pink hair told me a beer was $3.00, I paid in cash with a $5 and she gave me back $1!! smooth! I proceeded to take a seat at a "table" and the two waitresses went out of their way to AVOID me in an empty restaurant! Grade D level Service to me as I was there solo. My group was super exited for a night out for a bachelorette party. We were having a great night but music was mediocre. We tried requesting a couple songs and the DJ assured us that they would be played. Over an hour passed and they still hadn't played our requests( which where both popular songs). Went up three times and the dj assured me our song was coming up. Still never got as played and play list got worse and worse. The FJ ended up yelling at me when I confronted him about still not playing the song; This place would be a good spot except for their dj staff. Super rude and dishonest. read more
