I just don't get the big deal about this place. Definitely doesn't deserve A primo spot in the shopping center. But people seem to go out of their way to eat here. The food is mediocre and yes... It is inexpensive to eat here, but you sure do get your moneys worth. Coupled with the less than average service that you receive from servers that think they work at the four seasons, it's just a total waste of a dining experience when there are so many other options in this area. Consolation, the lobster bisque is pretty good. When you order a huge club salad, you get one small ramekin half filled with dressing... Dare you ask for more dressing, it's a 75 cent charge and a 10 minute wait. Seriously ? Just charge me 50 cents more for the salad and give me some dressing !! The food was great here!!! Delicious sandwiches and great atmosphere. The only reason I wouldn't rate it 5 starts is because of the service! Our waitress wasn't very attentive and was very forgetful. She forgot our waters several times and we had to sit there thirsty. My daughter ordered a salad with ranch and she brought a different salad dressing. Went here cause of all the good reviews. I don't think I'll be back. New to Fort Worth and I'm all about local (yummy) food joints. Got the boxed lunch to go, as I was in my lunch break. Was ready really fast and came in a cute box with a ribbon wrapped around it. When I got back to my office, I found out why it came so fast. Was a pre wrapped sandwich, bag of lays and some fruit. Sandwich looked like something I could've made at home. Got the chicken salad (again cause of all the awesome reviews).....was pretty disappointed. You could've made two or three sandwiches with all the chicken salad they put. But it just wasn't very good. To me, it didn't really taste like chicken salad. Needless to say, overall it was just ok. Having read recommendations online, we decided to try The Lunch Box today. We entered and waited a few moments to be acknowledged, then were seated fairly quickly. A young server took our drink orders and said he would be right back to take our food order. As we watched him take orders from four other tables over the next 10 minutes, our frustration rose. I finally said "excuse me" to him as he strolled by our table again. He seemed to be sorry that he had forgotten us, because he tried to make small talk about the dark rye I was ordering, asking me if it was good. I probably looked confused when I told him I didn't know, since we had never visited before. Another 25 minutes went by without food appearing, and our blood pressure continued to rise. Finally, the same young server came over to apologize because he had just realized that he had never turned in our order. We immediately got up to leave, so he asked if he could have our names so that our meal would be comp'ed next time. Needless to say, although we did say it, there will be no next time. read more

We where sat pretty much as soon as we walked in. No serves, had to get up and go to the register. I asked for my sandwich bread to be toasted and it wasn't, when I got it back it was as if they toasted it for 30 seconds. I got the chicken Salad and it's disappointing. The chocolate pie was the worst I have ever eaten because the crust was so hard I had to use a knife.

So disappointed.... the service was horrible! I waited 25 minutes for a sandwich and cup of fruit! Honestly the sandwich was not as good either. The girl never gave me my change .... it was only $2.00 so I didn't say anything but she just walked away. What happened this place was always our favorite. I wasn't the only one... a couple had to walk up from their table to place their order, another couple waited 10 minutes to check out and they weren't even busy! I never thought I liked chicken salad until I ate one from The Lunch Box. My friend had saved me half a sandwich after I got off the plane in Texas and I was grossed out that it was chicken salad. He assured me it was the best sandwich he had ever tasted so I tried it. And it was the best sandwich I had ever had. I go to the Lunch Box solely for the chicken salad but I'm sure the other things are great. I like to eat there best and have it warmed up on marbled rye. I love the fresh fruit as a side and their poppyseed sauce is so yummy! Only downside is that they are only open lunch hours so no going after work. :( read more

Had my first chicken salad sandwich from here today. There is a good reason I have read it is the "best chicken salad in Fort Worth", because it is! Not fancy with nuts and fruit, just really delicious and flavorful! Waitstaff at the counter was friendly and helpful and I was in and out for a to-go in less than 5! Decor is so cute! i had never had pimento until i came to the lunch box. talk about life changing lol it was so good on that rhye bread YASSSSS!!!! ok but seriously order half pimento, half egg salad on rhye, when it come scrape off half of the egg and half of the pimento then mix the two so each half of your sandwhich has the two! that mess is sooooo goood!! okay then for dessert you gotta get the key lime pie and black coffee.. just savor that and forget about your problems. read more

This place is simple in all the most wonderful ways. The sandwiches are the type you want to eat. Its not to much extra things its basic straight to the point and you know its going to be good every time. I ordered the BLAT (bacon lettuce avocado and tomato, minus the bacon) and a Tomato Bail Soup. First lets talk about the sandwich. I have trouble finding sandwich options for myself as I choose to be vegetarian. Although I always wish their was more options I understand we are in Texas. With that being said the sandwich was amazing! They put so much avocado it made my entire day! They don't just throw slices on your sandwich like some. It is mashed up which I love so that the avocado doesn't slide out and you're left with sliced avocado everywhere and green slimy fingers from trying to shove as much as you can back into your sandwich. (because avocado is ALWAYS extra there is no room to leave any behind). The bread is fresh and so delicious crunchy but soft, and the bread options! Oh man you can get all different kinds of bread it brings my carb loving self so much joy! Next the soup. Tomato basil, simple, easy but so many people mess it up in my personal opinion. The Lunch Box however gets it. It is on the lighter side of soups. You can eat it for lunch and not want to hide under your desk after and take a nap. The flavors are so yummy. I am a firm believer in crackers are a better form to eat soup then a spoon. I didn't even have time to open the buffet of different kinds of crackers they bring you. Basically get the soup. It's worth it. Lastly, the staff and servers. Mainly the front man in charge. He is attentive and you can tell her cares. He loves seeing new faces and providing good eats to the customers. We both had the Lunch box(sandwich, fruit & cookie) Lisa ordered the Chicken Salad sandwich, (for my taste it was more egg salad and very little chicken) I had the Reuben and while the meat was piled on high, a very little sauerkraut, very little flavor and no thousand island or any dressing to speak of. The poppyseed dressing served with the fruit was very nice, not to sweet and went well with the fruit and the chopped lettuce (Kind of weird) in the bottom of the fruit dish. I was driving around Camp Bowie Blvd. and I thought I would give this place a shot with my family in tow. Very pleasant atmosphere, cheerful and friendly wait staff, and the food was great. I'm likely to bring my kids back again, as they absolutely loved the fruit salad with sherbert, and it was large enough for both of them to share, with some left over for their parents. Love it. One of our favorite places. We go every Saturday, and my wife has withdrawal if we miss it and go out of town. Fantastic lunch. The best chicken salad sandwich in town. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT miss the chocolate pie. It is hands down the greatest piece of chocolate pie that I have ever stuffed in my face.
