We were looking for Curry Up Now, didn't realize it was actually part of the Local Kitchens mini food hall, which we'd never seen before but were thrilled to find. We ended up ordering from The Melt and Sushirrito as well, and loved everything. Ordering and pickup were easy, the staff was friendly, and the whole place looked spotless. Our family of four got tikka masala paneer on rice, garlic parmesan fries, tomato soup with grilled cheese croutons, and chicken karaage with Peruvian herb sauce. There were so many great options, we'll definitely be back again soon. It's the perfect place for a group. It's sort of magical that the same little place can provide so many different types of food, all fresh and tasty. There are a few picnic tables out front in case you want to eat there. I had to drive home from Antioch, and I decided to stop at Local Kitchens @ Lafayette. I got a Bacon MeltBurger and Cheddar Bacon Fries. I scheduled a 10:45pm pickup, but it was ready at 10:35. The Bacon MeltBurger was really juicy and full of flavor. The Cheddar Bacon Fries were delicious when eaten fresh and hot. They were really gooey and messy. I had a slight issue or concern with a leftover pickle that was in my Bacon MeltBurger order. Pickle shortage in Lafayette? I would suggest you buy a barrel of dill pickle chips, and put 3-4 pieces in each Burger order. read more

Lemme tell you somethin'; that damn grilled cheese and that tomato soup is truly something else! For fast casual, the Melt is def top of the line when it comes to your classic grilled cheese and tomato soup combo. I was THRILLED when I found out that they opened this East Bay location! Previously, the only time that I've been able to have the Melt was during my trips to the city. And since COVID hit, those visits have been few and far between. Fast forward to now and their lovable goodies are now available in one of my favorite spots; Local Kitchens in Lafayette! Was having a craving for something cheesy last week, and decided to hit up the Melt on my way home. Normally, I'd order it online ahead of time, but I wasn't sure how long it would take me get there with traffic, and I didn't want my food to be cold. Pulled up and ordered through the kiosk while I was there. Got their Three Cheese Classic along with a cup of tomato soup. It was a rainy day and nobody was inside when I first arrived, but that quickly changed after I put my order in. It took about 10 minutes or so before my order was ready, and the sweet staff hand delivered it to me. Took a couple of snaps for the Yelp one time, and then got in my car and took a closer look. Gaaah daaayum! That grilled cheese was cheesier than a mug! I couldn't resist taking a bite... well, a few bites. The bread was buttery and crispy and the cheese was just oozing in pure delight. I finished it before I made it home. I couldn't help myself. When that cheese is callin', you gotta respond right away. The tomato soup was jusy as tasty. Super flavorful and hearty. This was the perfect meal for that rainy day. I appreciated the pickle too. Everything was just, yum! I even contemplated coming back the next day, but.... I had to control myself. It's like those highway gas stations that have several fast food brands in one small building. Love this place. They had one In Berkeley previously and it was a family go to , it closed and I had to fetch to San Francisco. Politely the melt has just fallen off my go to list. I've ordered from them twice before. I thought until today they had the best burger ever. Well that has come and gone, the burger was burnt and overcooked. I did not enjoy the burger the way I did in the past. They ran out of sweet potato fries. I can see why those sweet potato fries were the best. They substituted one garlic and one plain fry for the two sweet potato fries I originally ordered. I should have passed on the substitutes. The grilled cheese was fantastic. The soup was very good although I wished they would fill it up all the way. The problem is a sanitary one. When I picked up my food I observed one of the "cooks" on his phone. This is disgusting as we all know how dirty phones are. No gloves, nothing. And no hair nets just baseball hats. So I decided to got to The Melt as it was a place I was told with a very good grilled cheese sandwich. I pulled up to the location and was slightly surprised as this was not a stand alone restaurant but a micro food hall which i had yet to see. I was lucky as there is not much parking space and got the last spot on the small lot servicing the restaurant. When I walked it the place was fairly small but very nice employees. The ordering was easy with so many options that I probably need to come back and try them all. I ordered the highly regarded "MAC DADDY" and the tomato soup. One thing that was slightly annoying was the wait time as I waited roughly 40 minutes to get it. But since the area was nice it didn't bother me too much. When I got the food i was extremely surprised as it looked exactly as advertised. It was honestly one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soups I have had in a long time. My first time at the Melt my daughter recommended this place for dinner since it was close in walking distance and the cashier Komani was great he asked was it our first time and treated us very nice and even had casual conversation with us treated us to a cookie and the food was actually great I think we will come by again before heading back to Boston, i had the garlic Mac n cheese with bacon she had the original melt and loved it..
