Second time here for a freshly prepared beef burger along with celebrating a friend's son's birthday. Our order consisted of a two mushroom cheeseburgers and a bacon cheese burger. Mac and cheese, bacon fries, strawberry lemonade and ice tea. Th ice tea was delivered to our table by Michael who was so friendly and kind. We added to our celebration with a cookies and cream shake and a cookie! The burgers here are smooshed via an automatic griddle and then built. Really well seasoned and juicy. I took a bite of the Mac n cheese and liked it. It is topped with bread crumbs and baked for the crispy top. We enjoyed our meal al fresco and took in the sites of the city. Street parking not hard to find and it's busy during lunch so no worries about anything. Give this place a try! read more

I've ordered The Melt's patty melt multiple times via Door Dash. My order is prepared quickly, which is mostly great, but I wish they'd take a second to follow the request not to put the weird version of mustard on the patty melt (who puts mustard on a patty melt instead of an in house "special sauce" or thousand island dressing?). The sandwich has been excellent the couple times they left it off and gross the other two times. 50/50 chance means I won't order it again. Bummer. Fortunately, DoorDash provides so many options and the Cheddar bacon ranch fries are good more often than not (bacon is sometimes poor quality but usually is good). read more

Ordered through Door dash, Yummy burgers, pink in the middle, cooked perfectly. Sauce is good Not overpriced as other burger places. Reasonable. Worth it. You'll definitely need a lot of napkins eating this burger, it's juicy and gets all over your fingers. Fries are good hot or cold. Pairs well with the burger. Strawberry lemonade is good too. The tomato soup is a must! I always get one with a sandwich. The Sicilian chicken sandwich is my favorite. I add tomatoes to it too. So convenient in downtown and they're open late so it's a good place to grab some food and head home after the bars. I'm sad they didn't give me a pickle this time around. read more

I've been to Market street SF Melt locations with Blondie, but this the first time with The Wife. We had just attended a show at The Paramount theater, just a few blocks away. We both ordered the basic grilled cheese and fries, and once again, I was amazed at how perfectly this was cooked. It looks so thick and heavy, but it really wasn't that dense, so we had no problem finishing. I also got a fountain drink, and I didn't realize at first that I had to go to a different spot in the store to get the drink, but it was all good. Nice lively crowd at 11 pm on a Friday night, and the price was very reasonable. There should be more of these. read more

I order food here whenever we host at Zanzi across the street. I love that it opens late and whenever I get hungry, I can rely on The Melt for a quick bite to eat! I've tried their garlic parmesan fries and they do not skimp on the garlic, for sure. Also, I've tried their mac & cheese which had to perfect seasoning. The customer service from Tish was above and beyond. She has a very welcoming smile and was very polite. I observed her help people who had never been to The Melt and helped them order all the whole being pleasant and keeping a smile on her face. My son and I ordered our food and planned on eating in but I got called into work. Had a group dinner at The Melt for the first time and it was a phenomenal time. The service was incredibly attentive and friendly, could not have anything greater to say about these employees. The night was pretty chilly but once we got inside, the ambience was so warm and pleasant. Despite it being fairly busy in there, the tables were well organized and very clean. Definitely big enough to fit our party of 5 without being cramped. The food was wonderful as well. Didn't take too long for our food to come out yet it was piping hot and delicious. Ordered the mushroom burger, garlic fries, and bbq bacon burger. The pickles are great!!! I ordered a patty melt and garlic bacon two days ago and THIS was not the quality I expected. The sandwich was bland, the wouldn't even acknowledge me at the register, and even the sodas at the front were dirty when I had asked to buy a drink and saw the unfortunate state of the top cans. I emailed about this with no response but a 20 dollar off when I had spent 29 dollars on this very sad meal. I do not expect to eat old avocados or burnt bacon for something I pay so much for. By the time we had actually received our food, almost an hour had passed. While we were waiting, a few other servers eventually joined, but service was still pretty bare for us and we never received refills on water or plates to eat off of when we received our food. I understand that staffing and a backup in the kitchen are out of the staff's control, but it would've definitely helped for us to know in advance how long to expect to wait to align our expectations and arrange our plans for the day. Would advise giving customers a quick heads up/warning because that on its own would've made a big difference. As for the actual food, we ordered the mac trio with elote mac, chicken pot pie mac, and kogi short rib mac (for an extra fee). The elote mac was the best and most flavorful, the short rib mac was okay but not amazing or worth the extra money, and the chicken pot pie mac was very bland/flavorless and didn't have much chicken in it. The food didn't feel like it warranted the wait time and because of that I would not return.

Maybe I needed to ask it they had a garlic, chili and vinegar dipping sauce. Or maybe atchara (aka pickled veg). Didn't care for the sticky rice dessert (aka suman). Didn't like the pureed texture. The green mango garnish was better when I dipped the slices in salt. FOB Kitchen's food is refined. Maybe too subtle and restrained. I get it. The chef has to appeal to the western palate, a wider audience than just Filipinos, to survive in an industry with razor thin margins. I look for good food and flavor, not necessarily for authenticity. So yes, I would still recommend this restaurant, for good eats but not for Filipino food.

The melt was a great option for a late night bite to eat. Dominic and Dylan helped us decide what we wanted with so many great options on the menu. They had such great attitudes especially serving the late night crowd. It was very refreshing chatting with them. Lots of options in downtown Oakland but I will remember this experience for the next time. Highly recommend this place to eat. Lots of delicious options and plenty of space to eat indoors and outdoors as well. read more

I came here yesterday after getting off I was hungry and I was looking for a good old fashioned melt in your mouth burger. Let me tell you this place hit it right on head so delicious and savory I had the Swiss and Shroom burger and garlic parm fries and I was very much satisfied. the service of the staff was top level so nice and so helpful really made we feel like I was welcome even though it was a busy night. Huge shoutout to Dennis and the staff at The Melt. They're amazing people and always make the experience enjoyable from the moment you walk in. The service is not only super fast, but what really stands out is how social and welcoming everyone is. They make you feel the rapport and positive energy of the place immediately. Like fast food, the wait was less than ten minutes for a spicy chicken tender and medium spicy medium size loaded fries with chicken chunks. My nephew had asked for some spicy chicken, to have a little kick to it. But he said that the "Spicy" level chicken "felt like a kick to the groin". The medium chicken was also tasty, and I preferred it over the spicy one. These were a bit smaller, like the width of two nickels side by side. What really struck me as off were the fries themselves. They were salty, and they had sliced pickles and a dash of cheese and sauce--but they were practically naked. What the hell were they doing back there? Is it that hard to sprinkle more than a pinch of cheese, more than a drop of sauce? For the meal, $21 was expensive, and seemingly not worth it. Three stars.

I can buy an entire head of lettuce for about that price. What bothered me even more was that no one mentioned the charge when I placed my order. It wasn't until I picked up my food and saw the receipt that I realized I had been charged extra. Customers deserve to know about additional charges before they order, not after the fact. When I politely asked why there was a $2.50 charge, the employee simply looked at me and said, "I don't know." There was no explanation, no offer to ask someone else, and no attempt to address a perfectly reasonable question. That level of customer service was just as disappointing as the surprise charge. The burger was excellent, but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. At this point, I don't plan on coming back. Or maybe I'll just bring my own lettuce next time. Better yet, just give me the burger without the bun, and I'll wrap the damn thing myself when I get home.
