Me and my partner went to the melting pot to celebrate our anniversary, we had noticed the times had said they closed at 9 but our reservation was for 8:30 we called to just make sure we would still have a set reservation and to our luck the hostess was very polite and reassured us that we were more than welcome to come at our scheduled reservation and that they looked forward to seeing us. Upon arrival the hostess greeted us very warmly as well as acknowledging our anniversary. Once we were seated we were greeted again shortly after by our server Hannah. Hannah was very very lovely, she made us feel so welcomed and not rushed at all. She explained how everything worked and made sure to answer any questions we had. She consistently checked in on us but also not to the point to where it could be overwhelming she checked on us in the best ways possible. They are pleasantly flexible in which entrees are presented in their suggested combos. It encouraged me to tell them about a special occasion and mention if I wanted a rose package for it. I said yes and that it was a birthday. Checking in, the hostess was polite but checked out. She didn't acknowledge the reservation notes. Server did not mention them either. Once he heard that I had been there before, he opted out of explaining the meal. Heard that line repeated at other tables. Drinks came fast. Cheese was made before we placed our main order. Later, waiter had me remind him which chocolate we wanted. He learned about the birthday celebration and didn't offer anything as an option. I'd have paid for a birthday upgrade. All the food items were fresh. Food was tasty. Left full and feeling good. No complaints there. First off, our server was very sweet. This entire review is in no way a reflection of her. She was great and sadly I forgot her name but just lovely. In fact everyone working there was. But thats the best part of this place. For $230 for a family of four we were met with the most mediocre meal of all time. The cheese course came out and if you were waiting for the apples to come with it, they dont do apples anymore which was literally the best part. They have replaced it with rock hard cauliflower, carrot sticks and celery for some godforsaken reason. Celery has no business in cheese sauce of any kind and if felt like someone went to wingstop's dumpster and took all their extra bits for this platter. The two breads on it were equally dreadful. Then the main course came and the broths were good, but there should be better division of the raw plate vs your cooked plate. I am kind of shocked none of us got any food borne illness from this last night. Then we move to dessert, there used to be little cheesecake bites but now you have to pay extra and for some reason for $5 i was presented an entire skinny slice of cheesecake (maybe the width of a quarter) which was the grossest graniest cheesecake ever. Even dousing it in their chocolate fondue couldnt save it. The rest of the dessert pieces were rock hard and ice cold which was terrible. If you have no tastebuds at all, this place should be fine, but for 230 bucks for dinner- we expected much higher quality of these items. Came here while visiting to try their new 5 course premium menu for an early birthday celebration. They also always send me a birthday coupon for chocolate covered strawberries, so I was able to get those during this visit. We tried the new Octoberfest Beer Cheese, which was amazing. Their bacon Parmesan peppercorn salad was really good too and I bought the garlic wine seasoning to take home. The dessert was very fun! So, we ordered a "Bigger Night Out" at this place, which cost nearly $200 plus tip. For that price, I have to express my condolences to people who think this is delicious and have never had authentic Asian hotpot before. It just tastes cheap. It feels like they're trying to mimic something high-end, but the food simply isn't there yet. Eating here is a unique experience, but afterward, I felt sick for the entire next day because the entrée was just too disgusting. I'm not saying the food quality is bad; I'm saying this style of cooking is pathetic. So glad we did!! Chris P. (co-owner) was super gracious in helping us set the reservation and had the on-duty Mgr come over to say hello to us and thank us for coming. It was different as the server prepare all the food in the 2 burners we had on the table. Great cheese appetizer, salad, then meat and finally melted chocolate with and array of sweets ready to dip ! Kids loved it, my wife and I enjoyed it. That was the good part. The problem for me is that I don't see me coming here again. The cost was about $220 for all 4, I could pay that once due to the wow factor but now that you know what to expect then the food by itself is not worth that much. To be honest, my experience at all of them has been about the same, I'm giving it four stars because it's good fondue but not great. I've been to non-chain fondues, which are typically a little pricier, but the food and experience are better. My friend and I started with the Wisconsin Cheese, it's good but nothing to die for. I really like the apples and bread, the vegetables were meh. I have always really liked Melting Pot's house salad dressing, so I was impressed. I had the land and sea with the Mojo style preparation. The shrimp and salmon were my favorite. I love the different sauce options. For dessert, we opted for the pure milk chocolate. I wish they offered more fruit. This is a good place to celebrate birthdays or anniversaries or just to have an intimate date night. Came here to celebrate my husband's birthday and it had been quite a few years since the last time we came. It is just as I remember it. If I have anything negative to say, it would be that it's time for the chain to get an update. I get the intimate feel but I think the decor is too dark and drab. Our server was Simon. He did a fantastic job of refreshing our memory in regards to the menu and offering suggestions. He didn't try and upsell us and checked on us enough to not be a bother. Our party of 11 visited the Melting Pot to celebrate my mom's birthday. When you have a large party you have to fill out a "large party agreement" and select all your food in advance. This has positives and negatives. On the positive side you can choose for your first course cheeses to be on the table when you arrive. This is great when you have small kids and hungry adults. Cheeses were a big hit with all of us. I chose the cheddar and the queso thinking it would be a regular one for the kids and a spicy one for the adults but it was not spicy at all. Cheeses are served with breads, fruit and chips. Next course was salad. My only complaint about the salad is that you had to choose the same one for every member of your party. I chose the California because it seemed most interesting. I loved it but about half our party did not and would have preferred a Caesar or House. Third course -- the meats. We ordered the land and sea which was steak, chicken, shrimp and salmon. It worked well with our big group because we could swap and share preferred proteins. This course also came with broccoli, potatoes and mushrooms. I ordered the Court Bouillon and Mojo broths. Bouillon was pretty boring but Mojo was good. Also, the waiter brought out six different sauces to dip your meat in. Grand finale was the chocolates. I ordered the original thinking the kids would like that one best and the cookies and cream. Everyone preferred the cookies and cream and the kids really enjoyed roasting their marshmallows over it. The chocolate came out with cake, fruit, marshmallows and Rice Krispie treats to dip. They also brought my mom a small piece of cake with a macaron and cream puff. Overall, was it the best food I've ever eaten? No. Was it a fabulous experience that all ages enjoyed? Yes. Our table was ready.. great communication in the beginning with the hostess worrying I may want to change an order and informing our server immediately. Michel was our server and he was great. I always like The Melting Pot; it is probably my family's top go-to location for a special meal (e.g. birthday). However, based on my recent trip, I would drop a star to give them 4-stars because of one thing--they now prepare the cheese fondue in the back and bring it out when ready. The server explained that this was to make it available faster. However, the goal of a trip to The Melting Pot is not to make it a fast experience. It's not supposed to be fast food! I previously enjoyed watching the server prepare the fondue, watching the shredded cheese melt as they mixed in the beer base and asked how much spice we wanted, then watching them add it. And when the server explained the change in practice, I got a sense that the goal was to turn the tables over faster, opening up the opportunity for more patrons and, therefore, more revenue. Some people might like not waiting as long for the cheese, but I don't mind. Suggestion to the management: Provide both options and have the server ask which the table wants. Some people might prefer the new approach; I like the old. read more

I've been to several Melting Pots in several states over the years and decided to try this one while visiting the area. The Alpine cheese fondue, Yin and Yeng chocolate and California salad is always our favorite which were excellent. The Coq Au Vin is one of our favorite cooking styles for Bigger Night Out. Our server was good but a couple times see did not check on our table as frequent as. I would of expected. Also, compared to other Melting Pots we have been, this one is more of an open atmosphere and not as low lighted and private as I would of expected for dining out for special occasions. I'm calling every single cheese lover to read this review. Listen, cheese is the single most important food that I incorporate into my diet daily. Tonight, I had the pleasure to eat at the Melting Pot, while celebrating my good friend's birthday! We decided to go with the four course meal. To start off, we got to pick a cheese melt from many different options. I was extremely interested in the Quattro Formaggio, considering mozzarella is involved, and that's a done deal for me. Let's just say, I LOVED this cheese fondue! It was the perfect blend between four amazing cheeses, roasted garlic, and sun-dried tomatoes, which was paired with bread, apples, and vegetables. I wish I could eat this every single day. I literally mean it when I say, EVERY day! From the sweet apple and sharp cheese combination, to the classic bread and cheese dip, I enjoyed each bite. Next, I had a classic house salad with ranch, which was really refreshing before my entree. They also bring out a special garlic seasoning, which was a nice addition to my salad. For my main course, I chose the "create your own" option, which I picked their duck breast, filet mignon, and herb-crusted chicken breast. We picked the Mojo broth to cook our entrees, which I really enjoyed as well. I like the idea of cooking food in front of you, except I realized I am the most impatient person ever, and kept checking my meat after every 20 seconds. Just wait guys, and you will have perfectly cooked meat if you leave it in the pot for the recommended amount of time. My duck was delicious, and my most favorite part. The filet was also pretty delicious. Honestly, if I could I'd personally just choose a plate full of duck and steak! Also, they have many different dipping sauce that you can dress up your entrees with! Our waiter recommended mixing the sweet and sour with the green goddess, which was absolutely banging because it tasted just like a crab Rangoon. Now for the other best part, we ordered the turtle chocolate, and it was so good paired with pineapple and strawberries. I'm not a huge marshmallow/ rice crispy person, but boy I would dunk one of those into this chocolate because it's great! The staff was kind as soon as we entered. Our waiter was super friendly as well. He had great recommendations, and brought my friend an extra birthday treat of strawberries, which was awesome! The atmosphere was really calm and quiet. I truly enjoyed this place. The experience is definitely one of a kind. We made reservations and didn't have to wait at all upon arriving. I wish they provide you with more seasonings, as it can be a bit bland since you make the food based on their pre seasonings to the food they provide. The drinks were also fantastic and service was great That being said, we chose the grilling option for our entree as we prefer meat to be seared. The steak was incredibly bland as they do almost no seasoning on it. We had to move tables because the burners would not cook the shrimp. 10 mins and it just wouldn't not cook through, even after we moved Staff accommodated, and they comp'd some of the bill without any asking to do that. Came here for my brother's birthday, we've been here before and we always love coming! Definitely the best fondue experience you can get in Raleigh, there are plenty of options to choose from and you can enjoy the experience of cooking/dipping your own food! We got 4 courses, we spent about 3 hours here so make sure you have plenty of time to spare! We got the fiesta and Wisconsin trio for the first course, it came with chips, vegetables, and bread, I personally enjoyed the fiesta with the chips and the Wisconsin for the veggies and bread! I got the house salad with ranch dressing as well, it was super tasty, a good break between the cheese and the main course. We got the classic broth and the Mojo (citrus!) for cooking, I ordered the steak lovers for the meats. Each pot comes with a mix of mushrooms, potatoes, and broccoli as well. The steak came with 3 options, all of which I enjoyed, the 6 sauces they give the table really helps give variety to the meal, I loved the teriyaki the most. For the cooking, I personally couldn't taste a difference between the broths for the meat, but you can definitely taste the citrus in the vegetables from the Mojo. I did not enjoy it, so I'd personally recommend the classic cooking broth, but if you like citrus, go for it! Lastly, for dessert, we got the Oreo dream extreme and the milk chocolate. I did not try the Oreo, but the milk chocolate was great! You get an array of desserts: brownie, blondies, strawberries, banana, pound cake, graham-cracker coated marshmallows, and rice crispy treats. You need to plan for AT LEAST 2-3 hours for your visit. Your meal is served in courses, and cooked right at your table in your own fondue pot. This is high-quality gourmet here, with fondue sauces and of course the chocolate fondue dessert! (I highly recommend the Flaming Turtle, with its chocolate, caramel and pecan!) or the crushed Butterfingerdessert.) The cocktail menu and wine list are unbelievable! Try one - there is a variety of exotic and delicious gourmets-in-a-glass that will delight your taste buds. Let the staff know if it's a special occasion, and they will go above their already-topnotch customer service to arrange a special treat that will make your night memorable. A friend proposed at their dinner, and they had rose petals and champagne plus a staff photographer standing by for his signal. We had our own wedding rehearsal dinner here and it was more fun than our wedding reception the next day!! Should have just had it there! We brought our own no-alcohol wine & they charged a $15 corking fee/bottle. One of them we opened, not them. I'm a big believer in restaurants charging the right amount & paying workers fair wage, but, cmon...we cooked our own food LOL! I'm not a fan of restaurants automatically adding 18% for a TIP, but she earned it, so not complaining here. The quality of the food was excellent, the variety was great. Dessert was fun. First time visitor. Took the wife here on our 5th anniversary, and enjoyed it. We ended up selecting the "Big Night Out" dinner for two, and it was more than enough for both of us! For our cheese, we selected the Quattro Formaggio-absolutely amazing starter. Salads were next; I picked the Apple Bacon Spinach; the wife picked the California. Both were good. The meats were steak, chicken, salmon, shrimp and mushroom Saccheti. All were good. Dessert was chocolate fondue, with assorted dipping stuff like brownies, cookies, etc. Overall, it was a pricey dinner, but enjoyable. Truth be told, I like my meats over flame...not steamed. I was curious how long the Melting Pot has been around and discovered their opening was in 1975 in Florida. Seems that they may have something good going on to stay in business for 43 years. Having grown up in Florida, my first time eating at a Melting Pot was about 25 years ago and I still enjoy the Melting Pot today. Perhaps part of the dining experience is nostalgia, but it's also unique and interactive. How can you not love dipping delicacies into melted cheese and chocolate? It is indeed expensive to dine at the Melting Pot so we only find ourselves here about once a year. Time slows down and dinner takes about 2 to 3 hours. We dined with friends so a difficult part of the process is that we all have to agree on one type of cheese, cooking style, and chocolate. We all agreed on the Wisconsin cheddar and it did not disappoint. It's always a nice presentation when the server mixes the cheese at the table. I love the apples and bread dipped in the cheese. I also got the Caesar salad, which had yummy Parmesan-dusted pine nuts that added a little pop to the salad. We decided on the bourguignonne cooking style, which was basically oil with some batter and panko on the side. I think we all tried the batter and breading once and then didn't use it again. A lot of the proteins already had seasoning. My favorite was the Cajun shrimp; also green goddess dipping sauce was so delicious! The server did a great job of explaining how long everything gets cooked and all the flavors of the sauces. For dessert, we opted for the flaming turtle. I highly recommend this fondue; it was wonderful. The candied pecans are a pleasantly sweet crunch along with the smooth chocolate. I love the bananas and pound cake the best for dipping. One observation was that the cooking surface didn't seem to be stable, it kept moving around a bit and seemed in need of replacement. Also the temperatures were a bit inconsistent. Our server stated that the restaurant was getting a complete remodeling soon, which I was happy to hear; it seems due. I'm excited to see it when the remodeling is done.
