I finally had the chance to visit this establishment and overall it was a good experience. The ambiance is excellent. It is spacious, has plenty of open air seating, and an excellent upper level with ample balcony seating (note that they go fast). I sat at the bar and initially the service was attentive, but it subsided after I got my drink and the bartender/server was mostly disengaged at that point. I had to work extra hard to get his attention for service. Fortunately another person started paying attention and helping and that sped things up. The smash burger was quite good, but the fries were lukewarm and nothing special. Their version of an old fashioned (called Hancock Hill) was tasty and had a good amount of liquor in it (not watered down). Overall it was a good experience. The ambiance is what makes this place such a popular spot, especially on the weekends. This is a huge two-story establishment with high ceilings and an outdoor deck. Our server was seriously awesome! The drinks and upstairs bartender were both personable and professional. I did take off two stars, however, for the food itself. Some dishes were over-salted while others lacked any flavor at all. this is my 2nd time at the Mercantile since it opened and it's really a cool spot. they have floor-ceiling windows on the first floor that they keep open and I believe the 2nd floor is a rooftop. Very social environment. The food was excellent too. Very sizeable portion. Great idea to get a full side salad and entree for two people to share. We also got the spinach artichoke dip which was great they served it with fried wonton triangles with a great change from chips. The spicy kale salad was excellent, I added tomatoes, red onions and cucumbers which they were happy to accommodate. We went on a Friday night and it was packed so it was great that we had a reservation. We were seated immediately so I would definitely recommend a reservation if you are going for dinner. I was really impressed by how smooth everything was running despite how busy the restaurant was. They've only been open for about 4 weeks but I didn't experience any of the hiccups that you often get with a new place. My experience at The Mercantile was a 10 out of 10: Excellent food, drinks and service. I love the look of the restaurant and can't wait to go back. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. We had the crispy broccoli as a starter, then I had the CBR and my husband had the Chicken Bahn Mi sandwich. We really enjoyed all of it. Cocktails were great too and the beer list is solid. There's something for everyone. The Mercantile is a welcome addition to the Worcester restaurant scene. I felt like I was in Boston and it was cool to have that big city feel so close to home. read more

We called the place ahead of time to see if tables were available and the lady over the phone and told us to come on down as there's tables available, me and my family had then drove down to the place expecting their to be a table available like they had just told us over the phone but then the lady (didn't get her name) smiles at us telling us they're booked for the night and would have to wait an hour-2 hours for a seat. Make sure you make reservations on the weekends! it is hard to get if you don't unless you want to sit at the bar. I came here for the brunch and it was slightly underwhelming. I ordered the simple breakfast and my eggs desperately needed tons of salt and pepper, the potatoes LOOKED crispy on the outside but tasted flavorless and boiled on the inside. Luckily we also ordered French toast sticks, fries and waffles as appetizers and all 3 of those did not disappoint. I HIGHLY recommend the waffles if you ever find yourself brunching here. This was my first experience since the location is relatively new in Worcester. Decided to have a girls brunch for my birthday this past weekend and invited a few friends. We started with the French Toast stix, my friends really loved them, I felt differently. They were very thick and kind of soggy on the inside, the texture wasn't for me. We ordered a mimosa tower for like $80 and I wouldn't have minded the price but the container was full of ice which eventually watered down our mimosas and I just felt like the ice took up more space than the actual liquid. Just didn't feel very worth it. I had the steak and eggs and all my other friends chose the simple breakfast. The steak was just okay but it was cooked perfectly to order, I won't take that away from them. The potatoes were a tad overly salted but overall very enjoyable and well cooked. The star that stole the show for each and every one of us was the waffle !! It was a crisp and delicious perfection while being served with a side of lemon infused butter ? YUMMMMMMM !!!! The server was great, very attentive and didn't slip a beat. The only thing I didn't like was that I wanted to rent the outdoor globes, they told me they were booked for the day... except for our entire meal all 3 of them were empty so like why lie? Did you not want to serve us there ? Idk, but the experience was great, the food just wasnt 100% our style but that doesn't mean it was bad at all. We decided to have date night at the Mercantile on Saturday July 19th 2025. We made a reservation and got seated right away, upstairs. Our server was sweet and had a permanent smile on her face. We ordered a beer and a martini for the wife, they came quickly, we asked for some waters and she also brought those out promptly. Took one sip of the water and honestly tasted like they might of gotten it out of the toilet. Moldy and awful. We ended up ordering a bottle of $6.00 water. Next up dinner. My wife ordered a salad with steak tips which was totally amazing, I ordered the Buffalo CBR sandwich. The meal came out quickly however the Buffalo was anything but, dry, overcooked and didn't have any buffalo taste whatsoever, Probably the worst choice on the menu. I could only eat a couple of bites and through the rest out in the garbage. With the long drive and parking limitations we won't be returning to the mercantile to spend $120 on mediocre food. So we tried this cute little joint out on a Worcester layover. Great venue in good weather...rooftop bar plus big garage door sides allowing for plenty of natural light & fresh air. Our server was named Honesty and she took exceptional care of our needs. Food was great...drinks were cold and we were beyond delighted with the overall experience. I tried the Bianci pizza. Although a bit saucier Than I would've liked-it was great and a great value. One person ordered the Brisket handheld. He said it was delicious-tender and not dry. My reviews have 3 components Location, Service, and Food. I was so excited to try this place, because Worcester definilty needed a restaurant with a rooftop bar. However, make sure to make a reservation for the rooftop bar or else you will have to wait 2 hours plus depending on the day. For location and atmosphere: The atmosphere is great and location is great. We sat in the bottom. Even though it wasn't in the rooftop, all of the windows open up to the street which is awesome and they are pretty big. The place has an industrial chic feel, which is a plus and the music is at a perfect leve for the ambiance. Location gets a 5/5. The service was good. It could have been slightly better. It was a little slow, and waitress could've paid a little more attention. For the magnitude of this restaurant it needs to go up a bit, but it wasn't bad. Service gets a 4/5. For food we got the pretzel bites for apps, and for entries we got the chicken bah mi and poke bowl. The food was really good, presentation was good and the flavor was great. Portions were also good, but for the apps could be a little more. Because it's more like a snack portion. Overall food was 5/5. I came here two times and both times had a great experience. read more

Ohhhh man!! I got stuffed like a Christmas goose! And that was just for brunch, so that says something right there. I had never even heard of this place before the morning of April 6fh, 2024. I knew we were all going out to brunch, but I had no clue where until we rolled up to this place. Anyway, the French toast sticks I had were 'da bomb!! It was like an explosion of cinnamon sugar flavor in my mouth. I wasn't quite sure what to get for brunch, but I am sooo glad I went with this. It's like every bite was triggering the pleasure receptors in my brain, like, "Oh yeah, this is yummy." The second floor might have been closed while we were there, but I did manage to get a look at all the cool keychains hanging from all of the railings and even around the bar. Our waitress (I think my sister said her name was Miranda) was super nice, and I just had to tell her the French toast sticks were delicious. I didn't just leave full, I felt satisfied. It was like I didn't just eat something to get rid of the Morning Munchies. I had something that was going to fill me up and give me fuel to get through the rest of my day. They addressed me immediately and started a drink and a menu. It was hard to pick something cuz it all looked so good. I had been traveling and wanted something not to heavy. I ordered the Poke Bowl.
