Recently, I visited The Mill for drinks. I saw on their Facebook page the new Toasted Old Fashioned. It's was the perfect fall cocktail to cozy up with on a cold Friday night. We did not have a reservation, but were quickly seated on the ground floor. A bit chilly down there this time of year. Our waitperson was prompt, attentive, and very helpful as we considered the menu. We shared the Seared Scallops appetizer (3 scallops), and it was tasty. My entree was the Udon Noodle Bowl with chicken. A very zippy dish. My husband had House Smoked Sliced Brisket. He liked his meal, and I enjoyed the Brussel sprouts I snitched from his plate. We stopped short of finishing our meals to have dessert. Snickerdoodle Creme Brulee - holy moly was it amazing. Hubby had the peanut butter and was over the moon. The Mill is always one of my favorite restaurants in the area and therefore was excited to show it off while a friend was visiting. They didn't have their usual menu which was slightly upsetting (LOVE their salmon wrap) but was able to find something else... The chicken taco was tasty and flavorful however it was a bit soggy and crumbled in my hands. That said the covid menu is a fixed $10 so definitely cheaper than their usual entree prices! They have a cute enclosed patio in the front with heat lamps above every table. Will return like I always do! read more

This place as many other reviewers point out, is the best you can get around here. From the classy, big-wooden beamed multi-level interiors to warm and inviting servers, this place pulled out all the stops for a perfect dinner night. My pictures speak for themselves - they were all good so I'm not gonna say much, other than to say pear salad and the beef dish were extraordinary. The Mill is a solid spot for all kinds of gatherings and meals - great vibe, music, and extensive selection of beverages. The Mill is definitely over priced and over hyped. I was excited to give it a second chance because it didn't live up to the expectations the reviews set a year ago. It is sadly still the same. The building and area itself was wonderful. I loved the beautiful outdoor seating. However the food is overpriced for the flavor and portions. A nice place like this should offer a complementary appetizer such as bread. I'm happy the service was fairly quick, but many other restaurants with lower prices could have had better portions and flavors. Our waitress also had no personality and when we decided to pay, she gave back my husbands card and told us to wait. She came back with a dessert menu, sat it at our table, and left. She did not tend to us other than asking if we wanted a drink. It was pretty dead for a Saturday night and she was standing talking at the bar to her coworkers most of the time we were there. Our food came out cold and a different waiter brought it to us while our waitress mingled with her coworkers. Half of my plate was unfinished and the waitress tried to take my plate without asking if I wanted a box. I was not pleased with the unprofessionalism from the waitress. I appreciated the other staff members who complimented my dress but they were much younger with more enthusiasm and personality. I understand some days are harder than others but I am easy to please and this waitress was very unprofessional. read more

Stopped here while visiting hersey in November for dinner with the family and had a great experience; even in 2020 lol. For dinner i got the peppercorn steak which was delicious. Steak was cooked perfectly and the sauce was great. For dessert I got the pumpkin bread pudding which was pretty good. Not to pumpkin tasting and came with a good ice cream. Service was good and the venue itself had a very nice rustic look. Overall a great spot to try for dinner. read more

After a day at Hershey we were looking for a nice meal. Love the rustic decor of this place. They are strict with the 90 minute seating limit which we understood especially during Covid and how much restaurants are hurting. Our service was prompt so the 90 minutes were not an issue even though we were a group of 7. They have a nice drink menu and I would have liked to tried a few of the options but went with the seasonal mule. it was delicious! steaks were all cooked to perfection and the monk fish literally tasted like lobster. The salads were fresh and tasty. The only thing we were not fans of were the duck wings. They were rubbery and greasy. They didn't look or taste good. when in the area again I would love to stop in again and try some of the other options on the menu read more

I recently had my friend's bridal shower here. It was a great event but there were definitely some concerns along the way. I will start out with the good things. They were very accommodating and let me bring in decorations the evening before. The atmosphere is fantastic! The building is beautiful, the food is very good, and I have no complaints about the servers. The banquet team however needs serious improvement. Getting information out of them was VERY difficult. I had reached out numerous times by email, phone, text and even stopped in without someone getting back to me. I was told that is not uncommon. The person assigned to my event didn't even show up on the day of the event, she did not let me know she would not be there and she has not responded to my message thanking her for her help anyway. My advice to the owner of this business would be to consider hiring a new events team or work with the one you have now on greatly improving their response time. Teach them how to give your guests a proper tour of the facility and suggestions on the layout for their event. You are in the service industry and getting back to your customers is crucial. Don't take your customers business for granted. You should want your level of service to match or exceed your cuisine. read more

Kim and I first met in September of 2021. In 2022, to celebrate our 1st-meeting anniversary, we had a meal at the Mill in Hershey. We ate on the patio and loved it, so we did the same thing in 2023. When we decided to marry, it was an obvious choice to have our wedding there. We contacted the folks at The Mill and arranged to have our small ceremony on the patio in early May of this year. The event manager, Nicole Schlesman, was amazing to deal with from start to finish. Nicole's enthusiasm and interest in the success of our wedding were obvious from the beginning. It was apparent that she was personally invested in helping us to make the day a memorable one. She was receptive to our plans, added some great ideas, and made sure that everything would go smoothly. The food we chose was beautifully presented and was delicious. The service of the staff was flawless. Marcus and Amanda were our primary servers and Nicole was there as well. They made the event a complete success. They made sure that all we had to think about was the ceremony. Because of their attentiveness, it was perfect! The Mill is an excellent restaurant/venue. The ambiance is warm and inviting, the food is spectacular, and the staff are fabulous. I wish I could rate The Mill- Hershey 10/10 stars because I was so impressed with the food, service, and ambiance. After a full day exploring and indulging in chocolate at Hershey's Chocolate World, we headed over for an intimate dinner at The Mill. We had made reservations for outdoor seating given the pandemic, however, did not dress warm enough and requested to be moved indoors. Thankfully, the staff were very accommodating and honored our request. We felt comfortable dining indoors as staff were wearing masks and tables were socially distanced. We were seated at a high top table in the lower level. The lower level was impeccably and simply decorated with boasting large wood beams and stone walls. From our table, we were able to watch as the bartenders poured specialty cocktails with fresh fruit and herbs. I ordered the St. Germain Cocktail with Elderberry Liqueur, Ketel One Vodka, Pear Nectar, Fresh Lime, and Champagne. It was delicious! Brian ordered the Cinnamon Spice Mule with Apple Liqueur, Apple Cider, Ginger Beer, and a Cinnamon Stick. He said he could drink his cocktail all day. For dinner, the Low & Slow Brisket stood out to both of us. After the first bite, you could tell the ingredients were locally sourced and of high quality. The brisket was served with mac & cheese and green beans. The portions were so generous that it allowed for two meals worth of leftovers. Third star for the server, Colin, who ROCKED with his simple service on this Sunday brunch hour. We started with the deviled eggs. Standard. Hubs ordered the sausage gravy, too much flour/gravy, needs more meat. And seasoning, which it would have had if cooked with more sausage. The crab cake was barely warm, side of ditalini Mac and cheese, it was clumped together and not even warm, like dished from last nights left overs. Oh and those looong garden carrots. Bland. Add a bit of brown sugar, maple syrup, something. $25 for that entree. A clementine salad with rotten edged greens And assorted toppings And citrus dressing. Lastly, the quiche was tasty. The highlight of brunch was the two desserts of Snickerdoodle crème brûlée and that peanut butter pie enrobed in chocolate. Cheers to the baker! Overall, the food does not parallel the cost. It wouldn't have bothered me at all if the food was hot and fresh as indicated by the SCRATCH KITCHEN marketing statement. And I'm sure the head cook was relegated to that nights' kitchen duty. Salad was okay. Seafood entire was okay. Ribs were dried out and hard. I've heard decent things about The Mill, but it seems to me there's a lack of art and craft in their how they prep and cook their food. I could have hit it on a bad night, but even how the salad was prepared was sort of cartoonish. There were massive chunks of cucumber, it all looked sorta random. The ambiance was pleasant and the staff were kind and friendly. I don't plan on going back any time soon. It's a very big restaurant and it's hard to get everything perfect at that scale. read more

The outdoor seating, which I am told is relatively new, is comfortable. There are fans and sun shades and the tables are nicely spaced out. We were gathered for a birthday. Part of our party was a couple that lives together and the other part a couple with a toddler. The Mill has both booster seat and high chairs available. We all sat at a table but with a seat separating each family because social distancing is important with part of the family having a compromised immune system. All of the staff wore masks at all times and we only removed ours to eat & drink. The Mill has hard copies of the menu if you need one, but the tables have a QR code to access the menu with smart phones. We went to the Mill because I wanted a crab cake and I got an excellent crab cake meal. The remoulade was flavorful and the fingerling potatoes were creamy and soft. The crab cakes had very little filler and large sweet prices of crab seasoned just enough that I could enjoy the flavor of crab. The carrots were crunchy. Everyone else had salads and a "not" burger and there were no complaints about the food or coffee with one exception. I'm told the espresso was so awful that he could not drink it. I tried a sip and it didn't seem that bad to me, but I am not enamored with espresso to begin with. read more

My husband and I decided to have a late dinner and it was nearing closing time, but we were treated well. The wait staff was attentive but not intrusive. I asked for a recommendation and the suggestion from our amazing waiter was try the brisket. I loved the brisket. I would have asked for a little less BBQ sauce on it because the horseradish sauce was so good too. I probably could have eaten my own weight in their mac and cheese too. It was perfectly smokey and fall apart good. My husband is a picky eater and did struggle a bit to find something on the menu where he would eat the sides as well. Amazing. Sometimes a meal is transcendental. This place was almost that. The locale was beautiful, a mill from the 19th century that was rebuilt in 1914 and renovated for the restaurant. Our waiter was hilarious! I had such a great time! The wait is worth it but I wish we had made reservations earlier. The wait was roughly an hour and that was during the week. At first I was worried. My family and I decided to sit at the bar. No one had cleared out the dishes and we were sitting there for almost 10 minutes before anyone paid attention to us. The good: the ambience is lovely and relaxing. It was quite crowded, but not too loud. Service was attentive, but sometimes a bit slow. We didn't have to ask for a water refill though, which was nice. We were celebrating my birthday, and the water brought out a complimentary peanut butter pie dessert, which was much appreciated. On the whole, everyone enjoyed their mains except me. I tried a bit of the duck, which was perfectly cooked with crispy skin. And my brother's burger looked great too. The bad: i ordered the scallops, and the dish was way too sweet for my taste. The sweetness came from the caramelized onions and peppers, which completely overpowered the natural flavor of the scallops. First of all if you ask anybody in any store or hotel what the best place to eat in here, they will say "the Mill". They might follow with but it's expensive etc. I think they mean pretty expensive for the area. The prices were fairly standard in my book actually. This Friday night the restaurant was jam packed with couples and families enjoying their meals. There were several different atmosphere options ranging from outside to around a bar to a basement. We were put in the basement with a bunch of other people. I enjoyed my duck but it wasn't exactly fantastically memorable. When I go to Hershey PA, I will likely re-visit "the Mill" for my "fine dining" because in many ways it's the only game in town. The other suggestions where the iron hill brewery. My advice is to take the Restaurant recommendation with a grain of salt. It might help temper of the enthusiasm and aide to a more realistically satisfying meal.
