Old favorite here on Long Island ~ came back to this old Inn picture the days when people actually got dressed up to go out for a big birthday meal with all the trimmings even the waiters singing this is the Milleridge we came here for Grandma's birthday dinner the grand dining hall with the colonial theme was just about empty save for 3 tables filled with families just like ours having a birthday (I know because we heard the singing) service is very friendly and nice starting off with the HOT yummy popovers that are served from the popover lady's big basket these things are so good I could eat them and be happy cinnamon raisin loaf is also placed on the table menu is filled with "American Classics" Yankee pot roast Turkey dinner with all the fixins Leg of Lamb Salmon with a mustard sauce you get an little appetizer (choices are Onion soup,a pasta , fruit cup, tomato juice &liver Yes liver but Grandma loves it so all good) everyone gets a salad and the food is plated very nicely its all good as in GOOD this is not eclectic or WOW holy cow but this is straight forward food and tasty enough one might say a bit pricey as the cheapest meal is a chicken or a tilapia coming in at 25 dollars but for your 25 bucks you are getting a full meal including dessert tea and coffee plus the lovely service and they sang to Grandma her candle in the dessert fruit cup by the time our meal was finished and our song sung and the bellies over stuffed it was after 10 we were the last to leave but never for a second felt rushed. all in all a lovely experience and for the grand occasion we will return *side note they have a whole smattering of little shops right next door but it was late and they were all closed* *we heard it was sold hopefully the charm and the service will remain read more

Attended a wedding at The Milleridge Cottage last weekend. The place was beautifully decorated for the holidays with an abundance of white lights, white hydrangeas, and white poinsettias. It was a charming venue for an intimate affair. The ribs and bacon-wrapped shrimp at cocktail hour were standouts for me, and the grilled salmon I had for my entree was excellent. The selection of liquors for the open bar could be expanded a bit--not all major top shelf brands were present. The wedding cake, made on the premises at their bakery, had a very nice cannoli filling. The fixtures in the bathroom were very old and the toilet was wobbly, as if it was going to come off the wall. A few updates throughout this older venue would serve it well. read more

I absolutely love coming to this restaurant for Christmas! I come here every year for my dad's birthday with my family and we've always had a great time and a great experience. I love how the restaurant is old fashioned and it's decorated beautifully for the holiday season! The food is very delicious! I always get the Milleridge Chicken (chicken cordon bleu and we get a bottle of wine for our table my favorite part of the whole dinner service is the carolers coming around to each table to sing! This venerable old colonial period inn is a lovely place for a fancy lunch or dinner. They have a reasonably priced menu, and includes a soup, salad, entree and desert and coffee. Sadly, the food is not always perfectly prepared. I have brought friends there who ordered seafood dishes which were embarrasingly dry and overcooked. One nice touch that they do regularly is bring you freshly baked bread from their own 'village' bakery, and freshly baked pop overs which they offer to you while you eat. They have a collection of shops like a bakery, general store, confectionary with homemade ice cream and candies, an Irish shop and more on the property. It's quite charming. Some meals I have ordered which are usually very good are the prime rib, the lamb shank, the Yankee pot roast, the Virginia ham and chicken dishes. A disappointment has been the turkey platter with dry turkey meat and bread stuffing that tastes an awful lot like Stovetop stuffing and salmon dishes. I have also attended private parties there too and usually have a wonderful time. It is a very reasonable venue for a bridal or baby shower, baptism, etc. They usually do an excellent job at these private parties. We sat in a booth by the bar and we're given a menu. 10 minutes later a waiter came over to inform us the kitchen was closed. If I could give this lower than one star I would! My husband as I have been patrons of the Milleridge inn for years! We even had our rehearsal dinner here years ago! Anyways, we went her last year for Father's Day and we had a fantastic time! The food was great, service and we had a great time. It was was a price fix meal including beer wine and soda was included, and any kid under 3 are free. With that in mind my husband thought it would be great to go there for Mother's Day. I was excited. He made reservations and paid over the phone. We were good to go, and they told us that we wouldn't have to pay for our 20 month old. When we sat down we noticed that drinks even soft drinks were not included in the price, not a big deal but should be noted. When we went to order I wanted to order my Son lunch (he's 20 months old) the server said we'd have to pay for him since he wasn't included. We were confused because they old me that kids under a certain age are free. Mac and cheese for 26.00??? We said we would give the baby some of our food. No big deal. So then The food comes, the server spills all the Au JU from my husbands prime rib all over his shirt and pants!! The bus boy apologized and ran away!! We ate; the prime rib was terrible, chewy and tasted like chalk! The server never came to ask us about how our meal was, in fact we didn't see him again for 30 minutes! Finally we got the attention of a neighboring server to help clear our plates and wrap my left over chicken. He also was nice enough to take our dessert orders asking if we wanted it to go! It was clear he knew that this was a terrible experience! Our server ran up behind the other server to finalize our dessert orders, and coffee. Within 2 minutes he comes back running over with the dessert in his hands and my husbands Black Forest cake was served to. Him upside down and separated into two pieces! I couldn't believe the presentation!! The coffee also was all spilled over the saucer!! We ate our dessert and never heard from our server again! He even forgot to give me my leftovers! It was very obvious that a lot of people were complaining and the managers were walking around doing nothing! Not helping there staff out just talking as Bsing. I asked if we could leave since it was pre paid and a server said I guess so? I wouldn't know! so we left. This is Mother's Day! we were treated like garbage! Keep the Inn as a museum because it is from colonial times but ditch the restaurant. Went for Halloween Brunch. Had an early reservation. Thought we'd start out with appetizers. Had some smoked salmon (bagels were nothing to write home about), cocktail shrimp and crab legs. Then went back for the prime rib only to discover that there was no more prime rib left. Decided to try the quiche - since when is quiche made with mozzarella cheese? Other than the prime rib and the Turkey, which you have to get early and as soon as you arrive or else it's gone, the rest of the options - French toast, omelets, did not merit a $70 per person tab. Desserts not spectacular either and again if you don't hurry and get what you want, they're gone. Shame, it could be a great restaurant in a real, colonial inn, and at $70 per person for brunch, it could be amazing with the right chef and management. read more

I love Milleridge Inn. I have been here for dinner once, brunch once, for a baby shower (that I helped host for my sister in law) and a bridal shower. The food and service is always good and never disappoints. 4 stars because it is indeed pricey! Just walking in, you can literally feel the history. If the rumors are true and the building in danger of closing, it would be a tragic loss as it is probably the oldest building in Nassau County that is still in use today and one of the oldest on Long Island. I hear other reviewers say that the decor is outdated-uh, it's supposed to be! It's a huge part of the entire experience! A Long Island staple and true piece of history. I went tonight for the first time. I always wanted to go and was excited to try it. The inside decor is like a delightful travel back in time. I loved the fireplace. The staff was friendly but service was SO incredibly slow. We had kids and barely anyone was there but they took an extremely long time to get food out. It was everyone's birthday, which was mentioned on reservation but not one person acknowledged that (which is fine) but the long wait was just too much, especially when they forgot a meal. I could forgive all of that but the food was insanely salty. It's sad because the establishment itself was amazing but the food is not worth the price. This place is beautiful and the food is pretty good, however for other reasons which I'll delve into during this review for me it's just a three star place. I attended a wedding here with the hubby yesterday, besides our own wedding which may or may not count this was the first wedding we attended as a married couple. I've been here before for a couple of other events and always had a good time, however my review will be based on the wedding since it's the memory that's the most fresh for me. The ceremony was held at the Milleridge Inn before the reception took place and I felt like they were ill prepared for the number of people attending the ceremony. The ceremony was held in a small room on the upper level of the Inn. The room was beautiful and the lighting was terrific but it was really cramped. When my husband and I got to the ceremony location all the seats were filled. We were told they were getting more chairs but we had to step outside of the ceremony room so that the bride can come down the aisle without us stealing her thunder and we had to stand for the duration of the ceremony with about ten other people. You'll find throughout my review my biggest gripe about this place was the cramped tight space. Once the ceremony was over we were led to the cocktail hour. Again more cramped space. Usually during the cocktail hours space is sparse so you know if you don't snag a table you will be standing for the duration. It's a common theme among catering halls to not have many tables in a cocktail hour location so I can't really fault them for lack of tables. They did bring out a variety of food. There was a whole seafood bar, which I'm not really into as I'm a vegetarian, a fruit, vegetable, cheese and cracker bar (more my style), and hot food options of penne a la vodka, pasta with a meat sauce, and I think there was a roast and a ham I probably bypassed. After cocktail hour we were led to the reception location. The room was nicely set up, very beautiful they did an excellent job on the set up. But for the third time more cramped space! The guy next to me was practically in my lap, and I don't want any dude on top of me unless he's my husband because I'm uber faithful like that. Plus this wedding guest was kind of stinky too. My husband said he was probably also staring at my lack of boobage but I didn't realize if he was because sometimes I'm a space cadet like that. The food was half and half. Some of it was awesome but some of it I wouldn't want to eat again. The unique thing about the Milleridge Inn which I forgot about was the pop overs they serve as bread. Pop Overs are a historic bread, I've found them in Trader Joe's and I'm sure you can make them, but the Milleridge Inn is the only place I know that serves them. They had baskets and baskets of warm pop overs that they placed on the plate of each guests. They had various choices of two salads and a few entrees. I chose pasta primavera with a tomato and mozarella salad. The tomato and mozarella salad was good the tomatoes were pretty fresh plus it's easy to put together you can't really go wrong with it. The pasta primavera was good but not outrageous although I did stuff the whole plate down. In between the salad and the entree we were served a bowl of french onion soup which was very nice. So basically the space was tight but we weren't going hungry. They had so many dessert choices for a Viennese hour. So many cakes, warm apple and blueberry cobbler with whipped cream, pies, cookies, chocolate covered strawberries. Hubby and I had fun with the desserts, sugar in any form is my weakness. The warm apple cobbler was delish, the chocolate covered strawberries were oh so good, the wedding cake was really good (but I'm not sure if they made it). The chocolate chip cookies, don't eat them unless you like a hard cookie. I like my cookies soft, chewy, gooey and preferably warm so it just wasn't my type of cookie. Another unique thing about the Milleridge Inn is the little shops on the premises. I haven't seen anything like this in my life besides this place, although according to history they used to have some small little stores similar to these by my library but they were taken down before I started working there. They have a confectioner shop, a toy store, a general store and a florist. The shops are so pretty and I love spending time in the little tiny village whenever I get a chance to come to the Milleridge Inn. Overall it's a nice place to have an event, but if you are planning on a fairly large number of people showing up go elsewhere. I only see people being possibly comfortable here if they are attending a smaller sized event. read more

Drinks also took longer than an hour, this includes water. I will never return and I encourage others to not go to any restaurants owned by the Dover Group. They are just terrible. The food here can almost always be described in one word: bland. The flavor and preparation are off, but everyone's mom seems to love the place anyway. The shrimp cocktail and mashed potatoes aren't bad, but I've never had an entree I could describe as good, both their chicken and steak are tasteless. Most things from their bread and jam shop are delicious though. Especially the cinnamon bread, which you get with your meal. The popovers that are roaming around the dining room in baskets are also good. You can get all this in the bakery, as well as cookies and cakes. The only item I would avoid is the frosted apple pie (it sounds wonderful but tastes terrible). The place gets three stars instead of two because of the adorable village they have. A handful of unique shops in a beautiful setting, with carriages and a gazebo in the center. The non-food items in the shops can be over-priced, but there is a candy store, an ice cream parlor, and of course the bakery to make up for that. The whole establishment is really just nice to look at and be in. Its been around for so long, and such care has gone into maintaining the details, I don't mind going even though dinner is always disappointing. read more

Worst dinner and service ever! We have been here before and know they have pretty Christmas decorations but not worth it! Food was dry, tasteless, and cold. After everyone who sat down after us received their meal, we asked to see the manager. Nobody showed up with an apology or an explanation after we received our food 90 minutes later. A truly unfortunate dinner! To start, the place was cavernous but nearly empty, which should have been enough of a warning. Popovers come, pretty good, but not stellar. Cinnamon bread was completely stale and flavorless, and also odd to serve before dinner. Caesar salad was fine, Mac and cheese was pretty good, but the clams oreganato was almost certainly frozen. The cherry on top was a 55 dollar rib eye, asked for medium rare, came out well done. Asked for it to be redone, and received a rare steak because it was "better to get it cooked more than be wrong again!" I get it, but maybe we can just cook a steak we are selling for 50+ dollars the correct way? It was sent back a second time and returned completely unevenly cooked. At that point our party had finished their underwhelming meals and I lost my appetite. Also, the potatoes were like frozen breakfast potatoes from a diner, "crispy" Brussels sprouts were soggy and smelly. We had been going to the Milleridge for years having Graduations, weddings, birthdays and other group gatherings; and now planning to book our daughters baby shower in the garden room Friday 8/19/22. We arrived to meet Sarah the event planner she quickly said they could not give us the garden room in January which was not booked. I was planning to have 40 to 45 people. She proceeded to show us rooms upstairs. I agreed to pay for 60 meals if they would pack the extras up. She said they dont do that. Around 1pm we finished with Sarah and Debbie the maître d' became our waitress. There is no lunch menu. Salad was okay, we didn't have drinks or coffee, just water, they no longer serve Popovers, i ordered chicken pop pie. It was $45. And I couldn't eat it , it had no taste, the crust was one big hard cookie on top of a bowl of onions swimming in water, i needed to use a knife to cut it, flaky it was NOT. My husband ordered strip stake which was dry, no sauce and served with old breakfast potatoes and old canned soggy string beans. Nothing was fresh. We thought the 7 layer cake would make up for the terrible meals however the single slice of cake arrived stale and rancid. This place has gone down hill. I should have realized when there wasn't any customers inside. The only redeeming experience was our lovely waitress Debbie, she was a real doll. We walked out after paying $113.00 for lunch for 2 people! Disgusting food we took home to our neighbors dogs. Very very disappointed in what was once a landmark on Long Island. We were here for the St Patrick's Day event. Don't order the Irish coffee unless you are ready to pay extra. It's not listed as extra and when asked about it to the owner he was very nasty and not accommodating at all. We will not be here again. Service was only so so. Great event space! Hosted a memorial reception here with only a couple days to plan, and they were very accommodating about start time and number of guests. Last minute they added an extra table. Food and service were excellent, and the Garden Room was beautiful. Prices were also less expensive than similar restaurants for banquet events. The TV for a slideshow had to be rented in person on the Milleridge property and paid for separately. That was an inconvenience, but it worked out in the end. Overall a great experience. Will definitely recommend for future events! Our guests had a great time. read more

We ordered appetizers full dinners and desserts. The home cooked breads were great. The dinners were good. The appetizers were great. The dessert was mediocre. And unless you order a cappuccino the coffee is terrible. The atmosphere is wonderful and decorated beautifully for the holidays. It's all about a beautiful atmosphere. It's worth going. My friend invited me out to eat and I couldn't ignore her calls anymore. When I asked her were she insisted on "The Milleridge Inn." A historical sight, "Milleridge" is a great destination to take a date for a little romance. I've been here in the past, but I feel it's improved. Parking lot was definitely plentiful. Once that was out the way we made our way inside. The Inn has a very old school feel to it, you definitely feel a sense of privilege being inside. I practically loved the furniture. The soft leather red cushions made everything else around pop. The place was definitely clean and organized. Once we were seated our waiter came to the table. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Once we ordered our meals, she enjoyed a drink and I a water and lemon. The dining hall was getting packed. The busier it got the less we saw of the waiter, but I understood, he was really running around. When the food came out, it was hot and smelled incredible. I don't need to get into to much discussion on how spectacular the food was, a place like this you know is known for the dining experience. Once you eat you can walk around the area and here's were the date part comes into play. They have live animals on the premise. Turkeys, chickens and donkeys to name a few. It's enough to get people taking and enjoying themselves. Did you know that a turkey prefers to sleep in a tree? I didn't until tonight. "The Milleridge Inn" feeds you and educates you on mammals and more. Definitely worth a visit or two or three or four. Take my advice guys and bring a first date. I've only dined here once during this past Christmas season and it was a wonderful experience for me and my son. The decor is straight out of the North Pole with a little bit of a German Beer Hall vibe - very old school looking with lots of exposed wood and the place is HUGE!!! Like a multiple room banquet hall - not even sure how much further it went from where we were seated. They have people working the room singing Christmas carols to add to the atmosphere which is a nice touch. Tons of staff running around since the place is so huge and they are literally serving hundreds of people at a time! Given all that the service was very good and the food came at a nice pace which is always important but especially when dining w a 9 yr old. They give everyone a popover which was delicious as well as a small loaf of cinnamon bread so plenty to enjoy while waiting for your meals. Cocktails were good, they had a Christmas themed cosmo which was delicious. My son enjoyed the salmon and I ordered short ribs which were fall off the bone deliciousness! The entire evening was a lot of fun and will become a new holiday tradition for us. You can tell that many of the diners have been making this a tradition for many years and even many generations. Feels like you're stepping back in time into a place filled with Christmas nostalgia! Lots of beautiful decorations for taking nice holiday pictures too. And if you want to walk off the great meal then right outside the door is their Christmas Village filled with rows of cute shops for all the treats and goodies you could ask for as well as the big man himself good ole Saint Nick!! Placed in the room near the bar, noisy, noisy, noisy. Food was dismally bad. Requested a brandy Alexander and got a glass of milk with brandy in it. No crime de cocao. When the waiter delivered it he said he didn't think the bartender knew how to make the drink. Really???? Meat was cold, carrots were undercooked, and the cabbage was a soup! I am impressed, to say the least, with the new era of The Milleridge. Their food has become increasingly delicious, and their village continues to grow in excellence. For children, the village houses tons of activities during the holidays, but also a bakery and shops with tons of cute boutique-like gifts. Eh. Had a girl friend's rehearsal dinner here on a Friday night and it left a lot to be desired. The food was not appetizing- we had a choice of salmon, strip steak and eggplant rollatini- I had the eggplant. It was ok- a bit burnt. Came with veggies and a scoop of mashed potatoes with no flavor. The room we were in was upstairs and could hold probably around 50 people. It was dated and cold in terms of ambiance. 5 stars for the Village- it's very cute with several shops for food, dessert, drinks, toys, or knick-knacks. People are friendly and neighborhood is safe and friendly. Fun for young kids, especially during the holidays. The chicken and peacocks roam freely. Sometimes you'll see their large turkeys moving about. For the restaurant, I'd give it 2-3 stars. Their Yankee Pot Roast grilled cheese was very good the second time they brought it to us (first time the bottom of the sandwich is burnt entirely black). Basically, it's hit or miss with the food which is NOT GOOD for a place that could be so much better. Maybe it's time for Gordon Ramsey to pay them a visit. read more

After experiencing the worst Thanksgiving at the Milleridge Inn, Parents aged 95 and 99 had wait in line for over half hour to be seated, made reservation way in advance also forced to pay in advance for full dinner (bad business decision). Lost several guests to covid that week, notified restaurant they promised gift cards to their restaurant (also bad business decision) it is now January still waiting for these gift cards. Why would anyone want gift card to same horrible experience? Also extra charges for things like French Onion Soup on the fixed menu, what is that about? We had our baby shower in the "yellow room". We had about 70 guests. The room was beautiful. And I was pleasantly surprised to see that the catering was actually delicious ! The waiters were very attentive to my guests and overall it was a great experience. I'll definitely use this place again for another event. read more
