First time coming here, used to come here all the time when it was a Destiny! The restaurant decor and interior is super nice and new. Lots of seating with lots of dividing walls and furniture that gives many tables a slightly more private experience. We came here for Mother's Day, we were a little disappointed that they only had a modified menu for the day but the owner gave us to option to add some things that were off menu. We ordered the following (for a table of 6): Crab meat soup - a little bland but still tasty (6.5/10) Peking duck - very tasty with good wraps, I like how these ones were not super thin (8/10) Duck meat - normally restaurants use the leftover duck meat from the Peking duck to make a stir fry with vegetables and will use lettuce wraps to eat together but they didn't have that option on Mother's Day so we just go the leftover meat (5.5/10) Garlic fried ribs - these were pretty tasty and interesting texture to have ribs that are crispy (7/10) Golden shrimps - these were stir fried large shrimps in a duck egg sauce, it's really tasty and bursting with umami flavour (8/10) Lobster fried rice - these lobster sauce was tasty but the lobster itself was very small and the rice was a little bland (6/10) White fish and stir fried green beans - overall a decent dish but it was a little on the bland side in flavour (6/10) Overall the food was alright, but for a semi upscale Chinese cuisine I would say the service was subpar. A newish Chinese restaurant in the East Beaver Creek/York Blvd area. Extensive renovations have made the interior very serene with an almost Japanese zen feel. We came for dim sum and the selection is what you would find in most other menus with some different items. Service is attentive. The food? Pretty standard dim sum fare. Nothing really stood out. Fancy but medicore. Came here for dim sum on a Saturday and was surprised there were open tables. Immediately made me suspect that there was something wrong since good restaurants are always full. The moon serves big portions which is nice and does do a good job in presentation. However the flavours are mediocre. Special mention is the crispy shrimp ball which is basically a stuffed crab claw without the crab claw. The presentation is quite nice (see photo) but may not be worth the price. There are better options. Service is not good. On walking in, I told the lady at reception that my group is here and told her the table number. She gestured to her right and said in there. It's a big freakin' room. She should have been more specific or taken me there instead of making me search for it in the room that has internal walls blocking views. For some tables they helped package leftovers. For us they didn't. We were nothing but pleasant and in fact, we know the manager. Manager also gave us free tea but when the staff gave us the bill, they first did not include that and when they were reminded, we only got $5 off instead of all tea costs off. read more

The venue is well decorated and clean. But the food and service level is not high end. It is closer to the upper mid level. Venue 5/5 Easy to access, highway 7 and 404, plenty of parking. There is one construction in plaza right now, so there are some accessible spots at the front that are occupied. WheelcHair accessible and lots of space inside restaurant. The venue is not too noisy and the seats are comfortable. Service 4/5 Wait times can be busy sometimes, best to call ahead if you have a large party just to be on the waitlist or reserve. Dim sum comes out fairly quickly while special order dishes may take a bit longer. Food 4/5 Many traditional dishes to choose from as well as seafood specials on their menu. Portions are average for Markham Richmond Hill dim sum and they taste fresh. There may be a few frozen dishes but I can't recall which ones. Would come back for sure! read more

Came here again to have dim sum with family/friends and we had a good time. Wasn't super busy on a Saturday morning, I think because there's so much construction around the building. This time we got to try their fried shrimp ball, the presentation was super cute as they hang them on a tree. It is an XL item but I recommend getting it if you want something a different. Love that they keep the congee hot by putting a small fire under it. Also got the pan fried short ribs this time and it was so good. I always admire the interior when I come. read more

So many dim sum spots across Toronto area, and overall this was a pretty solid dimsum spot. The first time we came, we were told to come back another day cause all the seats were full and they weren't seating folks in a section of the restaurant. Decor is really beautiful with natural wood accents. The next day we came back and were seated right away. Probably one of the best BBQ buns with sweet tops we tried on this trip. Another favorite was the crispy shrimp rice roll - the roll was red and the different textures worked well together. I also liked the truffle and foie gra har gow! Timing of plates was off where there were long pauses in between courses, with the last dish (fish) not getting out until 30+ minutes and it wasn't super hot. read more

Beautiful interior/ newly renovated restaurant with okay food. Came here for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night. The place was surprisingly empty, from the moment we walked in, to the moment we left the restaurant. The first floor was very quiet. We booked their private room for 18 people and it comes with an automatic lazy susan, private washroom, tv/ seating area and a large family style round table. The upstairs only had one other party in another party room as well, so the entire space was a little eerie. Decor of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful and looks very upscale. The private room was hot and there wasn't really a way to turn down the temperature. Now onto the food. Food was mediocre and definitely had hit or miss dishes. We got a set menu coursed dinner, family style. - Started off with the succulent pig, which was great and came with jellyfish. - Steamed scallops were a bit bland but came with a bed of vermicelli noodles per scallop. - Hand peeled chicken: was okay but on the smaller side. - Fish maw soup was okay. - Braised abalone and pork belly: saucey and again okay. Not enough abalones to share for the table. - Lobster: a little dry - HK style crab: this was okay. - Crab steamed rice was bland Overall the meal was okay. In most cases I enjoy the dim sum here in Toronto. Coming from New York dim sum is pretty good. I enjoyed the dim sum from here. This place was very nice from the dim sum to the restaurant. It was one of the clearer newer and really nicely decorated. The service I can say is fairly quick, however we were also one of the earlier ones as the restaurant was still fairly empty. So our food had come out fast after placing the order. All food was very fresh and I really enjoyed the egg tarts. In general all food was good. My Couisn that came with me is normally a hard person to please with dim sum in Canada, however he really enjoyed this place and would like to go back. However do not order soup dumplings as this was the frozen type and just figured try to see. All other items were good. Great presentation. read more

This is the first time I visit this restraint and I guess it will be the last, too. Service: it's bad. The waitress was rushing to ask us what kind of tea we would like twice before we even sat down. We then asked her the type of tea they have, she rolled her eyes and said the typical one. I really don't understand the attitude. It used to be that if you wanted really good dimsum you would go to a dingy spot with absolutely terrible service. Not here at The Moon!! This is the kind of place that you would be proud to being your white friends to!! Very upscale decor and staff that was super helpful and nice!!! How was the food? Phenomenal!! Of course the prices was also..... phenomenal. But the giant portions make it feel a bit less painful. We ordered the same number of dishes we normally do but ended up packing away four FULL boxes for lunch the next day!!! We definitely got our money's worth!!! read more

I've been seeing this restaurant on different social media posts and made my way here to check it out with a couple of friends today. I called around 10:00am as soon as they opened to make a reservation, at first they were a little reluctant and told me that even if I make a reservation for 1:30pm for 5 people, I will still have to wait. I arrived around 1:00pm hoping I can start lining up but because my other three friends hasn't arrived, they wouldn't give me the table. I understand that this is their policy, but a little frustrating as they start calling other people waiting there. Ambiance reminds me of Yu Seafood. It's a nice dining area and even the washroom have the Shangri la scent. Moving onto the food, the lychee shrimp balls were not bad, the Truffle & Foie Gras Har Gow definitely tasted better than they looked. I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. The black cod pastry, you can't taste the cod, but it was moist inside and tasted more like mashed radish in terms of the texture. Flavour was not bad at all but just can't really taste the black cod. The crispy shrimp rice roll was pretty good, not too soggy and they managed to keep the crispiness inside. We wanted to try the Mango sago but it was sold out. My friend said the durian pastry was quite tasty. I wanted to try the fried pepper stuffed shrimp, but that was crossed out and not available today. The salty egg yolk pumpkin was not bad, my friends enjoyed it and we will come back and order a larger portion for dinner in the future. Overall, I liked the ambiance, however the waiting policy upon full party arrival before we can sit down, I find it a bit strict. The food was not bad, during soft opening it's definitely not bad at all. Came for dinner. We made a reservation but while it was fairly busy, there were available tables. This restaurant is located at Hwy 7 and 404 where the cluster of restaurants are. While there was a large parking lot, it was very full so we had to circle to find a spot. The restaurant was decorated nicely and felt spacious. The high ceilings made it airy but it was very loud inside so it was hard to hear. Service was ok and not very attentive. Food was decent and came fairly quick. This is a new dim sum place in Richmond hill on the same location of previous Destiny restaurant . Seating area is spacious with high ceilings , a new Chinese style design. Service is good and fast, we ordered many dim sum items , I would say that the quality is average compared to the interior design and price. I've been dying to try out this place, especially after my friend tried it for dinner/ dim sum & it was highly recommended but the experience felt short for dim sum. The good thing is the place is beautifully decorated, modern & new. High ceilings with inviting space. Even the washrooms were so clean. The lady at the front desk does have a lot of patience so as the other lady but they definitely need more people to enter orders, take payment or give change back . Even though I had a reservation & arrived 25 min early, we were not seated on time. So for those with kids on a schedule, beware. The reservation system is a joke & means nothing. You can arrive at your reserved time & all they do is check you in & add you to the end of the list of people who have already walked in, waiting for a table. They write your name next to a # on their only list. The only good thing about a reservation is you MAY get priority over walk ins. However, if there are no tables available, you still got to wait. Also, since it is so hectic, they may not remember you. So you got to constantly remind them of your presence or they may forgot your table. Also, their voices became so strained, u could barely hear them so you got to be close by. Basically, they won't sit you at your reserved time & may still end up waiting for close to over an hour. So highly recommend to check in earlier. We were finally brought over to a table on the other end, after waiting close to 50 minutes. We were not the ones who had reservations but still end up waiting for a long time. While the individual table & space was inviting by the window, quieter & more private, there was completely a lack of service. I rather sit in the main dining room as we had trouble getting items as no staff on site. They should have staff walking by constantly to make sure nothing is missing or have a bell at each table so that it can alert a staff to come by to see what is needed. Mind you the waitress was nice & sweet but I felt sorry for her as she had to handle so many tables by herself. The menu is not huge but it had a lot of the standard items. We placed the order right away but it took a long time before we got a paper back that said the order was placed. Close to 20+ min. It looks like they took our order but were either too busy to enter it or it was forgotten at the desk. The food finally came after 35 minutes of wait and it was a hit and miss.. More miss than hit. -ginseng dumpling with soup was good but lukewarm, which means it was steamed but sitting there for a while. -BBQ Pork pastry w/ pine nuts was delicious & good size. -Hargow were big but the skin was kind of thick. -Siu mai were big but it wasn't that tasty. -The biggest ripoff is the shrimp balls, which was also listed as a special menu item. While it looked pretty in red, it was half of the size of any standard dim sum place, even smaller than their har gow & it was covered in cheap fried rice instead of the usual almond flakes. Seriously, how can they get away in charging this as a special item? -short ribs were delicious, covered in sweet honey, likely my favourite dish. Good portion size too. -Molten Egg Yolk buns came out all shrivel, meaning they steamed it for a while and left it out to the point it became cold before serving. Quite disappointing with no lava oozing. -Seaweed Shrimp Roll was well fried & not oily. However, would prefer red sweet sauce over mayo. -Fried Shrimp Dough Roll was not bad but again lukewarm. Oyster sauce, peanut sauce and soy sauce made the dish a thousand times better. -Chicken feet were ok. Overall, the food prices are too high. They basically trying to be a high end dim sum but with average food. I would still try them for dinner & maybe go back for dim sum because the atmosphere and the tea is great. I would still be willing to try out diff dim sum. However, if the wait is long, I rather go somewhere else. Not sure if the experience is different when you go on a weekday over a weekend. I did go on Thanksgiving day. Could be why it was such an underwhelming experience vs my friend's positive experiences with her family. I went to this restaurant hoping for a good experience. Unfortunately, I ended up waiting 1 HOUR for my 2 lobsters! The service is absolutely atrocious and all the staff have no communication between each other. It seems like they are playing a game of broken telephone. I heard the kitchen staff yelling at the waitress. The service was ok from the waitress I just don't know what was going on behind the scenes. The waiters were also given numerous mentions about the friend rice that hasn't came up but they simply said they were going to do something but it never happened. Eventually we cancelled out the fried rice as it was taking too long. The decorations were really good especially the lanterns and everything. The decoration was really nice and the designs of the wood made it look great. The restaurant service is not up to par, and they constantly don't have food that is advertised on their menu. There is no point visiting this restaurant. They try to give excuses but it's all bullshit at this point. How can I visit each time and there are always a specific dish (the crispy chicken) is unavailable. We went to "the moon(花好月圆）" for dim sum this morning. The environment was nice, and the dim sum was decent, but the service was terrible. As soon as we walked in, the floor manager greeted us with a sour face and led us to a cramped corner near the entrance -- the kind of spot you have to squeeze into. My friend had been there several times before and knew there were better seats inside, so she asked to switch. The manager's face grew so long it could've been rolled up like a towel. Then, when he came over to place the teapot -- whether it was on purpose or not -- he slammed it down with a loud bang and walked away. I asked, "What's the matter with you?" I think even he was surprised by how loud it was, and maybe he scared himself too, because he quickly said, "I didn't mean it, sorry." But honestly, I think he did it on purpose. read more

Went there for weekday morning dim sum. The food was decent. No lineups and easy parking.

We went for yum cha before and the dim sum were okay. We wanted to try a different place for CNY dinner but turned out it's a total disappointment! We had to order based on some limited set menus and this was okay, however all dishes served were either too salty or with a thick sauce including the chicken dish, we savoured no chef's technique in preparing the dishes and my humble home cooking tastes better than their dishes. Can you imagine all overcooked vegetables soaked in total brown sauce?! And nearly all dishes were soaked in brown sauce! The set menu charged $488 plus tips was up to $560, it's a total ripoff & disappointment considering the quality. Service was on par but that was about it. We'll never go back to this place for dinner. I seldom gave one star but just couldn't help to do so with this visit. read more

The service at this restaurant was the worst I've ever experienced. Throughout the meal, we were completely ignored--nobody even bothered to ask if we needed water. When we finally asked for some, the staff slammed the water on the table with a very impatient attitude. As if that wasn't bad enough, we were packing up our leftovers ourselves, and before we could finish, a server came over and tossed our plates into the bin without asking. When we told them we weren't done, they pulled the plates back out and then asked if we needed them. Can they be any more ridiculous? This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. Not quite sure if this was an impromptu repair but there was heavy construction at the entrance of the restaurant that gave "we're not quite open yet" vibes. While the exterior entrance left a bit to be desired, the interior was quite pleasant and well decorated; I like the fake bamboo wall display by the window seats to help with the Chinese immersion. I did notice that while we were being guided to our seats that some tables were not quite clean with a sizeable amount of crumbs left on the seats from previous patrons. The food was definitely quite weak relative to the local competition; the dishes tasted frozen-made and were not quite hot when served. I will say the service was quite good, the servers were all on top of their game despite large staff to guest ratios and did their best to work with a smile. I think there's definitely potential for The Moon, but they will need to make major improvements to their food above all else to stay competitive with the market. read more
