I was going to complete this review yesterday but I needed a day to cool down from this awful moving experience. Honestly folks, from the bottom of my heart, if you are looking for a local professional company to move you, THIS IS NOT THE ONE. I'm a pretty laid back guy and I believe in giving people great reviews but this was just BAD. I MEAN BAD! The only good thing about Chris and his moving company is that they showed up on time. I give them that. Okay, where to start... Right away Chris was complaining about glass being in large boxes.. OOPS, yea AFTER he dropped a box (that had huge letters that said "FRAGILE" written on top) and broke a couple dishes. No big deal.. Let's keep rolling. They get the truck loaded and made up in there mind they aren't gonna take everything. Who does that? Yes, I had to personally take three trips myself after they left. Okay, the move downtown. We get to my new apartment in downtown Austin and they begin bringing up my belongings. As they walk into my new apartment they immediately begin scratching the new hardwood floor and scraping the walls up. I'm getting angry even typing this. At this point I really wanted to just say dude, please just leave, however they were still bringing my things up. The cable guy was here at the same time and witnessed them dropping things to the point where he asked me "Where did you find these guys?" I said, YELP! Finally, at the end i had a check written for $350 which is what Chris quoted me. All the sudden is says the price is $437.50 (Not the price you gave me over the phone dude) Me being the nice guy I am walked over to the ATM and gave him a $100 and said just keep it dude. Sure I'll pay the extra for you to RUN, not walk, but RUN as far away from me as you can. WORD OF ADVICE TO ANYONE. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Chris, the owner said to write the check payable to "Covered Contracting LLC" which is his parent company? Sounds kind of fishy to me. WILL NOT BE USING THEM EVER AGAIN. So I've been through hell and back these last two weeks with my current situation falling through and having to scramble to figure everything out. Now the only thing I'm looking for is moving help. I've been searching high and low and went on Craigslist to the labor section and found an ad for these guys. They seemed to be great and know what they were doing and have decent prices, but upon texting the number listed in the ad, I got no response for about 14 hours. Not a great way to start doing business with someone but again, I understand that he's running a business and may have been busy with a client. Onto this morning when I finally received a response. It all seemed very positive and I was about to schedule with him when he began to pressure me and made me extremely uncomfortable, asking me, "do you want a badass mover or a punkass mover?" amongst other pressurized questions. After explaining to him, as calmly as I could, that I would think it over, he turns around and says that after checking his calendar, he's completely booked for the day I originally asked about. After a few choice words, excluding vulgarities, I simply blocked him to avoid any lashing out on his end. It may not seem like much, but when you're in a tight spot with limited funds, and find someone you think might be a good fit to help you out, it's pretty difficult when you encounter a man-child. Unprofessional. Arrogant. Pushy. Rude. Pricy (for someone on a tight budget). If you have any other options, go with those. There are many movers in Austin, I would steer clear of this one. Let me preface by saying I don't normally leave negative reviews as I understand the impact it can have on a small business. Being a small business owner myself I generally approach the owner with my feedback directly should I have a negative experience. I did exactly that in this case but the way things unfolded I feel it would be a dis-service to others not to post my experience. Now onto the review.... I scheduled a move in early April for my second story 2/1 condo where we were moving about 4 miles down the road. I got a confirmation call the day before and let them know we were on for 930am. They called at 830 the morning of saying they were running about an hour behind schedule. At 11 they still were not there so I called and they were still experiencing delays due to his helper running behind. I told him if need be to go get contract labor from Home depot but that he needed to keep his promise to move me that day. At 12:30 they showed and got right to business. I was completely moved into the new place in under 2.5 hours. I was frustrated to be so far behind schedule but they made up for it with speed. After unpacking I did notice several scratches on my farily new sofa that were fresh and the result of a door jamb most likely. They were out of sight. There were also some bursted items in boxes such as shampoo and soap but it very well could have been the result of improper packing. As these things happen I did not fret nor complain it was minor in the grand scheme. I tipped the driver and assistant very well ($60 total tip) as again I am a small business man and I respect anyone who is working towards their dreams. My business partner needed to do a move a few weeks later so I recommended the moving badass. I did relay my experience but figured it was likely just a one time thing and didn't think they would be late for my partner. My partner called me to alert me that Chris called him and let him know he was running an hour behind about an hour before he was expected to arrive. Chris actually sent me a text Monday 4/13/15 asking me to review him on Yelp. I didn't feel it would be beneficial to his company as I am always honest and I didn't want to leave him a negative review so I sent the following text to Chris: "Chris, I don't think you really want me to share my experience as I won't leave out any details...I'm sure you recall being almost 3 hours late...also my business partner is doing a move with you today on my recommendation and he was just told you would be an hour late. As a fellow entrepreneur my advice is to get people you can rely on as it will make or break your business" Chris's reply was: "Who am I speaking with again? I'm sorry sir but I don't respond well to threats like this. Please tell your friend to take his business elsewhere. I will not be treated like this." My reply: "Chris you messaged me Monday asking me to leave a review. I just gave you that review with the courtesy of not leaving it on your site as I know how important this can be for a small business. This is in no way a threat, just courtesy. I'm simply pointing out that you should contract more reliable labor to ensure the long term success of your business. Best Wishes. " Chris's reply: "Your partner is pissed. I like how he told me "F___ you dirtbag and then called me unprofessional." No further correspondence was made on my part. I would have kept my word about not leaving a review but his blatant careless attitude had to be exposed. I expect with the abundance of moving companies this one won't stand the test of time unless some fundamental changes are made regarding operations and attitudes. read more

If you have any type of schedule, don't use this guy. This guy is unprofessional, his pricing is not particularly competitive, and the guy shows up late and/or not at all. My buddy used him to move his personal residence and they showed up an hour late. Not exactly the end of the world, but a few days later I hired him to move an entire property for my business. I had two families lined up to move, and dependent on him showing up at 9:00 in the morning, which he confirmed with me the evening before. At 9:00 he texted to say that he would be an hour late. Then two hours later, after my texting and calling several times, he tells me that he isn't showing up at all. Skip this guy and move on to the next company. read more

I was looking for a local moving company that could act quickly on moving some donated furniture from Austin to our warehouse for flood victims in San Marcos. I got ahold of Christopher and explained our situation. We are a 100% non profit and we were desperate. He was simply AMAZING! We set up a time for that Friday. He arrived exactly on time and ready to roll. We were on a time limit and he did his best at meeting those times. On the way back to SM we ran into three major car accidents. We ran a bit beyond our time frame but he helped us out knowing we were a non profit. I felt so bad for him as he and his partner as they worked very hard in the heat. They moved everything without damage in a VERY timely manner. This company has heart! I have moved from Austin to SM in the past year, I wish I had known of them then. You can not go wrong by hiring The moving Badass! Mr. Christopher is your guy. Reasonable rates, professional and courteous. These guys are Awesome!!! They moved me out of a 3 bedroom home. I had enough stuff for three houses and a salon!!!! They totally moved everything in about 2 hours and placed everything neatly in storage!!!! Get ready for round 2 guys in two months!!!! Lol!!!! read more

Chris and his guys saved me when I was in a tough pinch. every moving company was sold out the weekend I was moving but I was able to get in touch with him. Not only that but the closing on my house was delayed 24 hours and he was able to accommodate my last minute change of plans and came out at 8:00pm on Friday night. Had a really great experience with Chris and his assistant! He came with his own truck, though I did not need it for my move. I had rented one myself and in about an hour they moved the contents from my 3 story house into my moving truck with precision and speed. They packed it tight and everything survived the long drive from Austin to NYC! Highly recommend! read more

Wow these guys are the best. I needed a last minute move within reasonable prices and Chris and his team came through. Not only did they communicate clearly about the process and time/scheduling but they also, most importantly, showed me and my possessions the up most respect and care. Don't waste your time with the overpriced and contractual movers out there as this local business is a force to be reckon with. read more
