I visited the Nail Bar on a Thursday evening around 6:30pm...I was pretty apprehensive about going since I wanted a mani (shellac) and pedi and I'm aware that the salon closes at 7pm. When I arrived the staff was not very friendly as it took a couple of seconds for someone to acknowledge me; however they were all working so I didn't take much offense to it. As for the services I received; I'm very pleased! Debbie did my gel manicure. She was very attentive and thorough. I was very pleased with the results, my nails look really nice. Next, the pedicure was amazing! Susan did my pedicure and she is excellent!! She suggested the callus removal and did a fabulous job with removing my callus -- my feet are so smooth! I just happened to stop in at the nail bar because I had a meeting next door and was overdue for a pedi. The gal was kind and warm. I told her I was in a hurry and she understood and tried to accomodate. Prices are reasonable for what you get. The lower leg massage was really really good. Massage chairs were clean and in like new condition. Before I got into my shoes which would have probably ruined my pedi, she slipped the foam sandles on me so I could drive away not ruining my pedicure. Great service. if this is the one i'm thinking about off jeffery in the center this place is great! i took my mom there for her bday and we were able to walk in with no appointment and they took us right away--they cleaned and scrubed and took really good care of my mom and laughed with us the whole time. I really appreciated how they made sure to listen to what she wanted and included a really long massage for her as well.. i was super pleased, the price was a little expensive compared to other places, and the manicure didnt last too long (maybe 2 weeks at most?) but for the quality of customer service, it was great and we left very happy! read more

I went here based on excellent yelp reviews. All I needed were my nails Japanese Gel removed and trimmed. My regular gal was too busy to take me on short notice. I don't remember if it was Susan or Julie on my hands, I think Susan. Anyhow, she was in a RUSH to take those nails off and paint. I don't know why because I made my appointment at 6, salon closes at 7pm. She couldn't wait to get out of there! She filed my nails so hard, I had to pull my hand away several times, and I told her repeatedly it was too hot. I was being polite about it as well. Then she painted super quick. I could still see the Gel under the polish when she was done. What was worse was that the next day, my nails started breaking. Each one of my nails broke, I believe due to her careless filing, even my thumb nail. They bill even charged an extra $10 for massage. Isn't that supposed to come with the manicure? I understand if it's $10 to take off the gel, but say so, and do a good job. The pedicure was fine, but after ruining my fingernails, I will never never never come here again or recommend anyone. read more

I've only been here a couple of times and I won't be back. I came here initially because of the good reviews, but the service was subpar. The first time I came here I got a gel mani and I scheduled an appointment because I didn't want to wait. The receptionist sounded friendly and cheerful on the phone (I think she's also the owner, Nicole). I came about 10 minutes earlier than my scheduled appointment because I was afraid I was going to be late since it was first time there and I wasn't sure where it was located. When I got there, Nicole informed me I was early and it would be a few minutes. I didn't mind waiting since I was early, just not 15 minutes AFTER my scheduled appointment. A lady who walked in AFTER me was attended to before they got to me. Perhaps she was a regular because they seemed to know her pretty well, but they're not going to get new customers if they keep this up. When they finally got to me, they told me to sit at one of the manicure tables. One lady gave me a bowl to dip my fingers in and I waited for about 5 minutes before anyone paid any attention to me. After that, a different lady came and cleaned my cuticles. She then instructed me to move to another table further in the back. I wasn't sure why it was necessary to move, but I did it anyway. Kim did my gel nails and they looked great even though she seemed to rush them. The gel was a bit thin so they chipped within 3 days which was a big disappointment because they looked really nice. That was the only reason I came back a second time and gave them the benefit of the doubt. I gave this place another shot because the prices are cheaper than a lot of the nail salon places in Irvine and I liked how my gel nails looked even though they didn't last a while. I again scheduled an appointment, but this time for a gel mani and a pedi. When I got there the wait was longer because the place seemed busy. When a spot opened up, they had me sit on the spa chair. I didn't put my feet in the tub because I know they haven't disinfected or even cleaned the tub. The pedicurist did a two minute rinse and half hearted scrub. She seemed to skimp on the soap while doing it. I asked for a french tip on my toes since I was getting gel french tipped nails as well. They looked horrible. The white tip was uneven because she didn't file my nail bed evenly unfortunately I didn't notice until I took a closer look after I left. After the pedi they told me the bill and I was surprised because I hadn't had my gel mani yet. I told them I wanted gel nails as well so they told me to sit at the manicure table. I had to wait about 10 minutes until someone came to do my gel nails. It seemed like this lady wasn't used to doing gel nails. I saw her only doing pedicures the two times I've been here. She proceeded to look for the gel polish and the supplies. She took used cuticle tools, put them in Barbicied for like 30 seconds and took them out again. She then took a nail file cube and inspected it. It looked used and she just looked for a spot that didn't have white nail filings on them. I asked her to get a new one, but she was distracted by a coworker who spoke to her in their native language. She did a quick file and then proceeded to pile on the gel polish. By the end of the manicure the white tips were not even and the lines looked frayed because she went over the white tip twice but failed to follow the lines she initially made. The gel lasted about a week. It could have lasted longer but I removed them when someone asked if it was my first time putting on gel nails by myself. Needless to say, I'm not going back to the Nail Bar. read more

Quick and fast, but not in good way. I sat down and she immediately began working on my nails and then she started to paint without filing or cutting them down. I had to stop her and tell her that I wanted my nails trimmed (everywhere else always consulted me as to what I wanted), so she took the clippers and snap, snap, snap! My nails came out uneven on both sides which she didn't even acknowledge or check. In addition, the lady who did my color change for my toes did a sloppy job. There was paint outside my toe nails and she didn't even bother to fix it. She did the paint job then left to attend another client and never came back to check up or help put my sandals on, so I messed up my toe nails putting on my sandals since my manicure was also still drying. The salon also didn't seem very clean... the sponge filer that they used was peeling apart and discolored and they still used it. I was also a little uncomfortable with them using the same hair clip for every client without cleaning it. Yikes, what a very bad trip. read more

Just got back from The Nail Bar. It had been recommended to me by a friend, so I was hopeful and my teenage daughter needed a manicure. The place was a bit CLAUSTROPHOBIC, MESSY AND DIRTY. They were NOT VERY FRIENDLY upon arriving, basically ignoring us for awhile, not even being courteous enough to tell us they would be with us in a minute. When they finally did get to us, it just seemed like they felt they were doing us a favor rather than treating us like a valued customer. The manicure itself was not very well done. They made my daughter BLEED when they did her cuticles and didn't cut her nails to the length she wanted. She was not very happy about the experience, which was supposed to be a treat for her. Then, they were RUDE when I went to pay. I guess they just don't need the business that they can treat new customers this way. Must be nice. WE DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE BACK. read more

this place was horrible!! i went here for the first time to get a gel pedicure (not sure what the actual procedure is called), and the girl who was working on me was unfriendly, NEVER smiled, and CLEARLY had no idea what she was doing. the first sign of her not knowing what she was doing was when she asked me in the beginning, "you want a gel pedicure? on your hands or on your feet?" (?????) my dear, a pedicure refers to your feet only. i thought all people who worked at nail salons would know such a simple thing...apparently i was horribly mistaken. next, because i was getting gel, i had to periodically stick my feet into that little gadget that gives off heat (there were two gadgets, one for each foot). this girl was beyond confused as to how and where to put the gadgets to where i could stick my feet in them at the same time. you'd think that she would just place it on the foot rests, but for some odd reason, she put one on each side of the tub, where she had wanted me to sit COMPLETELY SPREAD EAGLE to stick my feet in them. umm, i said no, i would NOT sit with my legs spread wide apart for the next half hour. so, what does she do instead? she puts both foot gadgets on one side of the chair and places them on a little rolling stool, the one with wheels. this means that while my feet sat in the gadgets for some odd minutes, i could not put ANY pressure on my feet or else the chair would roll away. try holding your feet in the air while sitting down for 5 minutes, and you'll see the pain and discomfort for yourself. i did this for about 15 minutes. furthermore, apparently there was a shortage of gadgets that day, so my friend who was sitting right next to me had to wait for at LEAST 20 minutes for her tech to get a gadget for her to stick her feet in. so what did she do while she waited for 20 minutes? absolutely nothing. my friend just sat in the chair doing absolutely nothing for 20 minutes. i don't know what else could have been done, but that's just a complete waste of time to me. get more of those gadgets in stead of having customers sit in a chair doing NOTHING for 20 minutes!!!! something is really not right about this place. ok, so you might be wondering how my actual pedicure turned out. if it turned out really well, i may have cut this place some slack. i'll admit that i've gotten worse pedicures in my lifetime, but it's definitely nothing that wow'ed me. my friends and i all said that we probably could have done just as good at home. i got a french pedicure, and some of the white parts look really sloppy and crooked. and again, while it's not horrible, why would i pay $35 for something that i could have done myself. I'm sad I moved away from this place but thought I'd help others find it. Nail Bar is a hidden gem. Very friendly staff and the gel manicure was really good. They even steered me to a better brand of polish knowing how the one I picked has been problematic. They give you a shoulder massage after your manicure while you're drying. When I make an appointment I have an expectation of being taken within 10 min of that time. I had to leave before I could get my nails done today because I waited 15 min and was then told it would be 10 more before she was done with the customer she was with. I am very picky about how my nails look and most importantly the service that I get when going to get them done. Nail salons are a dime a dozen, but GOOD ones are extremely rare. I have been to every salon over the rainbow and had yet to find somewhere that I truly got excited about. I was looking specifically for a salon that used OPI Axxium Gel Polish. I called the Nail Bar and firstly, a breath of fresh air-a person answered the phone that could actually understand me! I made an appt for that afternoon. Im glad I did because even at 3:30 the salon was hopping. I sat down at Bill's station and had a manicure first. The BEST manicure ever! At the Nail Bar all manicures include not only a arm massage but a shoulder and neck massage as well. AMAZING! I had low expectations because I rarely have a good experience that I want to write home about, HOWEVER this was sooo different. Attention to detail was superb and when it came time to apply the gel polish. Bill was such a perfectionist. I love my OPI Lincoln Park After Dark and it gets tricky making it look perfect. He did an amazing job at that. Overall my experience was 5 star and the owner-Nicole is a Gem. I also love the "limited cell phone usage policy" I hate it when the girl next to you holds conversations with everyone in her phone book and making sure everyone knows her business. Was out of town and badly needed a manicure so I found the Nail Bar. I went in without an appt and was seated within 15 mins. They were very busy (for a small place) when I entered. At first I almost walked out because I thought the gal was a bit rude or short with me, but I think she was just overwhelmed. Once it settled down a bit I had a good manicure. I got the gel which I always get at my usual place. Nail Bar was very detail oriented with the mani. Very knowledgable as well. I could tell they had many regulars which is a good sign. I would have given more stars if the first impression was better and the lady was nice to begin with. The only thing I really did not like was that they used a previously used nail file/buffer on me, which I thought was a bit unsanitary and I'm used to my regular place that uses a new file every single time. No one else seemed to mind, which makes me think it must be the norm in this nail place. Otherwise good mani and convenient.
