She was shaking and struggling to even put my tips on for my acrylic full set. She place one of my tips on crooked and I told her and she tried to pull it off with her fingers. I snatched my hand back and told her she could not pull it off like that. She then proceeded to file it off to replace it. She was barely putting enough glue to make the tips stay on. Once she started to apply the acrylic powder she had so many holes and it was totally lumpy and thin. She finished one hand and it was terrible, she then tried to start my next hand and I asked her was she going to fix this hand first? She was confused and asked did I want it thicker? I told her no I wanted her to make the acrylic smooth and even. I then asked for the manager so I could get somone to do my nails that actually knew what they were doing. The manager came and tried to say she wasn't finished yet. I told her I am a licensed Cosmetologist and this lady clearly does not know what she is doing. She switched me to a new technician so he could finish my nails. I still thanked the other lady, I just could'nt pay $85 for nails that looked like trash. The new technician finished my other hand and tried to fix the hand the first technician messed up. I ended up getting decent nails with a beautiful design and I was actually happy even though it started off rocky. Well less than 24hrs on Saturday my first nail broke, Then Sunday my 2nd nail broke, and finally on Monday my 3rd nail broke. They all broke in the same place, where the tip was. Like I said earlier the lady was struggling gluing my tips on. So I went to the Salon on Tuesday when I got back in town, the manager wasn't there, so I came back on Wednesday. She told me they would take all my nails off and re-do them because we were worried the rest would start breaking at the tip. So I made an appointment for Thursday. Well when I get there Thursday the technician refused to do my nails, saying that they was scared that it would happen again. I asked the manager why would you tell me they would do it over and now refusing to fix their mistakes. She offered me a refund, but now I am extremely upset. I changed my plans to have my nails done. Now it's 4th of July weekend my nails are messed up and now I have to pay extra for someone to take my nails off just to get them done over. I will never come back to this establishment, I should have trusted the other reviews and not waste my time, money, and energy here. Please make sure you speak up when someone is doing your nails, everyone here is clearly not licensed and DOES NOT have the experience!

I went in and asked for a full set and on my toes, two of the chipped toenails to be re-polished(the pedicure I had was from their salon). The front desk person asked me three more times "do you want a pedicure" and I specifically said "no" and said what I wanted. When I sat down and someone began to work on my nails, they immediately started taking off all of the polish. I immediately said "that's not what I wanted, I only wanted two toes redone". The rep that I spoke to walked by and laughed. It became clear that despite what I asked for they were going to do what they wanted and charge me. I immediately told the lady once she removed all of the polish off of my feet that I do not want any additional service done to my feet. I was also getting a full set. The full set came out perfect. A lady later sat next to me and she asked for the cost of a full set and she was also getting coffin shape, the exact service I was getting. He quoted her $55. So imagine my surprise when I got up to pay and with my very simple design, my final tab was $75!!! I immediately asked what was the difference in the price. He said your set was longer and she wanted a short set. I asked " so a $20 increase because my nails are slightly longer"? I got a text granting me 10% off of my service because it was my birthday. He looked at it and said " OK five dollars off". I was frustrated by the up charge and just paid and immediately walked out without thinking. It wasn't until I got to my car that I started thinking 10% off should have been more than five dollars. Sure enough I should've received $8.50 off. Now I'm not going to make a big deal about three dollars. However, it's the principle of you send me a discount code and don't fully honor it, and then you frivolously up charge, and then you try to stick on a service that I did not request. I had been coming here for almost 2 years and I loved the work but I've had this type of similar experience with my last 3 to 4 visits. I get the same thing and my nails are never an intricate or complicated design and I realize my price is always different. I feel like they just tell me a price and because I am so trusting, I never question it until my last visit and my visit today confirms what I had been feeling. They have officially lost a regular customer! Even though I live in Valencia, I feel like it might just be best for me to find a better nail shop closer to LA.

Remembering this location, I made an appointment online with Mariam for Saturday at 11am. I arrived 10 minutes early, and she was ready for me. I warned her in advanced that I'm terrified of the drill and nail file, so I would most likely flinch or make a funny face when it is in use. Unfortunately, my fear is so much worse than I thought because I was uncontrollably squirming/ tensing up, and truly just being a nightmare client. Mariam was SO EXTREMELY patient, kind, and gentle with me. She kept checking in to make sure I was okay, and would announce when the scary part was done. I was so embarrassed by my behavior, but she was very sweet. In addition to her kindness, she was fast. I got a Russian manicure with fast gel (no removal) for $85 (and a $2.47 service fee). The whole process took 45 minutes. The color came out exactly how I wanted it to, and I was very please with how uniform the shape of the nails were. FYI: There are two Beauty By Lid locations. One is for hair, eyebrows, facials, etc, while the other one is the nail salon. The nail salon location has a smaller and tighter parking lot.
