You'll have different experiences at The Net Result based on the timing of your visit. Mid day or at the end of the day in August? Tough luck. You'll be wedged into a sweet and simple family fish store with an impatient and demanding crowd of line-cutters. There's not a lot of order in here and the entire left half of the building is a circus. That's where the take-out section is. Some items are prepared ahead and in a case, others are ordered, and then you wait....and wait.....(If you want sushi, please do not get the pre-made rolls as the rice is inclined to be dry and the fish is, too.) If you come at a different time or in a different season, your experience will be much more pleasant. You will find that the staff is more relaxed and patient, the food is of the best quality, and nowhere will you find fresher fish to bring home and cook yourself. This really is a genuine, old fashioned fish store that expanded their space a few years ago to enlarge and improve the take out section. There are picnic benches outside, where you can find yourself seated next to tourists, locals, families or a minor celebrity. The Net Result also has a small refrigerated case of treats like smoked bluefish spread, lobster dip and seaweed salad. They have another area with frozen things like crab cakes. Around the wall they have assorted spices and fish related items. They also sell some pies and baked goods. Go here for the freshest fish (none of it has been frozen and thawed- although they do have a well marked freezer case for certain items), fantastic sushi (the nicest sushi chef on the island, make no mistake), and some delicious take out food. But if you arrive at noon or at rush hour in the summer months, be prepared to wait with patience and a sense of humor. And some sharp elbows to keep your place in line. Some of the people who come in seem to think they do not need to wait in line with the rest of us and march right up to the front, creating all kinds of interesting tension in the mob scene. read more

My new favorite spot on the Vineyard for fried clams. This is strictly a no-frills eatery, all the seating is outdoors. But that didn't bother anyone, both times we came the benches were full. Fried clams were cooked just right, with a mix of small and fat clams. Very fresh and sweet and briny. For $20 we got about a pint, which is the best deal I've seen on the island so far. Also ordered a piece of bluefish that was reasonably priced to grill later. It was also of very good quality. Will definitely make a trip out here next summer! read more

This is where my parents get their fresh fish that they take home and cook for dinner most nights. The prices are right and the fish is fresh and delicious! Or if you are just visiting the island and don't have a kitchen, this is a GREAT place to grab a fried fish sandwich, quite possibly the best on the island and for a fraction of the price of most other clip joints on Martha's Vineyard! And trust me, this island is FULL of clip joints! The fish is REAL fish, not McFish, and comes on a soft bun with lettuce, tarter sauce, and slice of cheese...mmmm!!! You can also get sushi here, too...considering this island doesn't have a lot of sushi restaurants (a few other places pretend to make it, but charge an arm and two legs for a California roll!), it's not too shabby... And for those not of the faint of heart, there's always lobster...achem....I meant lobstah! Must say it correctly... It comes on a roll or steamed to order, and it's delish!!!! Prices vary according to the market for the steamed version, it's a heck of a lot cheaper than going to one of the Vineyard's many over-priced restaurants for it! All in all, I love The Net Result, one of the good places to make a stop at while on-island! i take everyone here. on a sunny day it's new england at its finest. skip the crab cakes if you're thinking maryland lump crab. they're just frozen breaded patties. definitely get the fried shrimp, scallops, etc. lobster bisque is really good and creamy with pulpy bits of meat instead of chunks. the lobster roll is mediocre for the area. there are MUCH better ones on the island. read more

Really fresh, no-frills, reasonably priced take-out seafood joint and fish counter. Grab a crab cake sandwich ($3.50 on special the last time we were there) or some tasty stuffies ($4), plonk down at one of the outside picnic tables, and have at it. Note that while their mussels are generally grit-free, their steamers are definitely not; there's a reason they give you an extra tub of water for washing, and list on the menu that they can't be held responsible for grit inside the steamers. So just be warned- if you're not into grit, stick to a lobster roll or shrimp cocktail. read more

Ambiance: Subdivided into 2 sections, Net Results is both a fish shop and restaurant. You can order at the restaurant and then sit outside under one of their 3 LONG picnic tables with multiple umbrellas and eat. Food: They have pretty fresh looking seafood there. There are tanks full of lobsters ranging from 1 to 4lbs. The price of the lobsters is pretty cheap: approximately $10/lb. You can get it steamed for an extra $0.50. This is much cheaper than what you can get at any restaurant and the flavors will be super fresh. Their food is pretty fesh and tasty. I got a crab salad from them for less than $7 and it was filled with actual crab meat (unlike Linda Jean's--see Rob Y.'s review). It's very fresh, tasty seafood for a very reasonable price, especially for a tourist destination as Martha's Vineyard. Service: Order your food and pay. They'll holler out your name when your food is ready. No tips necessary and clean up after you're done. read more

A cousin treated my sister and I to the Net Result and I thought it would be the best food ever but I was so wrong. Also, it was recommended for having the best lobster roll on the island. However, I never got to find out because when I asked about the bread used, I was told it was a hot dog roll. That was is definitely not what I wanted. My sister ordered a fried fish sandwich, my cousin had swordfish, and I had steamed shrimp with fries. I am not a fan of swordfish but my cousin said it was good. I tasted my sister's fried fish sandwich and immediately regretted not ordering it myself. The fish sandwich was that good. However, my steamed shrimp did not taste fresh and it was off-putting. The fries tasted as if they were the microwave type, it was so disappointing. If I am ever on the island again, I would return just for the fried fish sandwich. read more

This was probably the best casual dining experience I had on the island. My boyfriend had the made-to-order lobster roll with the grilled bun and all the fixin's while I noshed on the fried whole belly clams. The lobster roll looked really good and got two thumbs up from him. Definitely splurge the extra dollar or two to get the roll freshly made to order with the toasted bun--worth it. The clams were lightly battered and served with insanely good fries. Even the coleslaw (which is usually an afterthought) was fresh and flavorful. I loved that the clams were not overly greasy. I could still taste the briny flavor of the clam. This was a fun dining experience since we grabbed a picnic table and sat outside. It was crowded, but not overly packed. The parking lot is a little hectic. The market inside was stocked full of every fish imaginable, plus all of the accoutrements necessary for cooking it. You can also select your own lobster to have cooked or to take home and make yourself. The sushi looked great, too, but I ran out of room! Maybe I'm just a New England girl through and through. As a result, if you serve fish and chips I has got to be extra good! The fish and chips here was just ok. I think the oil may have been too hot or the fish was cooked for too long because the fish was kind of dry and the accompanying fries were super well done. I don't like my fish or my chips well done and did not make this request so I was kind of bummed. I got take out lobsters from here with my family the other night. I liked how they start cracking open the lobster for you so it's not as much effort to eat as it could be. The lobsters were DELICIOUS and hit the spot. I ordered the Lobster Bake which also comes with steamers and mussels. The mussels were on the smaller side but it might have to do with the time of year...I'm not sure though. The steamers were really good but sandy so make sure you clean them off well in the broth. The clam chowder is FANTASTIC. I would stay away from the sushi. It's not horrible but nothing special. I just suggest sticking to the food that New England does best..Lobsters and Clams. You know somewhere is great if you visit it twice in two days. We could have tried a different restaurant on the island but we really didn't want to. I don't know if was the fried clams or the delicious steamed lobster with warm butter (a whole 1 1/4 pound lobster for $14.50) that kept us coming back for more. We also ordered the fried calamari and the crab cake sandwich. This crabcake sandwich was pretty large and tasty(only $4.50). There is only seating outside on picnic tables. This was great for us because we were trying to take advantage of the warm weather. If you are looking for a place where we can eat some seafood and just dig in with your bare hands then this is it. I was really excited to try this place because it got good reviews and seemed promising but I don't think I would eat here again. I paid extra to get the fresh made lobster roll vs the pre made one and I have a hard time believing mine was fresh. It did not taste freshly made whatsoever. The sushi was not good either. As I see it, this is the go-to place for Seafood on Martha's Vineyard. This is how much we love the Net Result. We go up to the window and get some of their clam and lobster rolls then we sit and devour them at the picnic benches outside. Then we get in line and pick up a couple of lobsters to take back to the house. Its the seafood equivalent of wrapping bacon with bacon. Yes, its just that good. The fried seafood is comparable to anything on the island -- The Bite, Nancy's, Shanty -- and the lobster rolls, at least the "fresh" ones -- can hold their heads up anywhere. A cool place in Vineyard Haven. We went for lunch and had the lobster roll and lobster bake (alot of seafood for $20 for sure). They were both good portions but lacked flavor. I was on a mission to find the perfect lobster roll on Martha's Vineyard and The Net Result's version was not it. The lobster bake was chock full of mussels and clams in addition to about a 1 lb. lobster. The clams still had the tails on them so they grossed us out. Everything in the bake tasted the same. The cole slaw was decent. I would agree with other reviews that the food is fresh...you'll see the live tanks when you walk in the place but I've had tastier seafood much farther away from the water so The Net Result was a big disappointment for us. read more

Not too far from the ferry. I've tried the fish and chips- average. Bit I'm impressed with the cheeseburger and clam chowder. The burger had plenty of meat and flavor-- I will get a burger again. This place has great seafood! A 1.25 lb lobster with butter is $15 which seems like a good deal to me - add sides of steamers and mussels and it's $19. Their fried seafood dinners are also about $19 and come with fries. The lines at dinner are always long and slow. You can carry out or eat at their outdoor picnic tables. There is pain involved dealing with the wait, but it is worth it in the end. They seem to close early, like around 8 pm, so check hours before you go.
