We ordered out a family dinner and was by far the worst seafood we have ever had. The scallops were overcooked and had the consistency of rubber. The crab was definitely imitation meat. The lobster rolls were tasteless. If we had eaten in the food would have been sent back but we did order out and not one person in our party ate their meal. Tasty seafood, like a take out counter, where you can order and go. The lobster bisque was more watery than I like, but taste was better with a bit of hot sauce. We got 2 of their fried dishes, the fish & chips and fried scallops. The fish & chips had hearty amounts of fish, very thin coating on the outside, barely seemed fried...but I thought it worked out better as you could have more of the fish texture. Yummy nummy in my tummy as my brother says. I was still thinking about the succulent lobster today as I ate my boring lunch at work. I decided to drag my whole family there for lunch based on the excellent reviews from the my fellow Yelpers (thanks a bushel!) Let's get down to business, here's what we ordered: Lobster (1.25lbs) w/ mussels and clams (.75 each) [22.50+tax=about 23.10] My dad wanted a 2lbs lobster since the lobsters we usually get from Long Island are just alot of shell and water and not alot meat. Boy, was he wrong. While we had to wait a while (about 15 min), the cashier warned us ahead of time with her "it'll be about 12min" line since they only steam it when you order. The lobster was really fresh, juicy and succulent. My mouth is still watering. We ate that sucker in less than 5 minutes. It comes with a cup of butter. Buttah! Lobstah! Aah! The mussels and clams were very fresh too but the clams were a bit sandy. Is that American style? I don't really know but I don't really like to eat sand. I ate it anyways b/c it was fresh good seafood. I'd say stick with the mussels. Fish and chips ($10) While the fish was really fresh, it wasn't really flaky or crunchy enough. Maybe it was the batter or the type of fish. It wasn't bad but it wasn't super good (which was what everything else was). My brother loved the fries but they're not the fresh cut potato kind of fries. My aunt really liked their coleslaw which comes with it when you order. She liked it so much she wanted to order it by itself. To me coleslaw tastes like coleslaw...cool, sweet and crisp. Peel and eat shrimp (0.5lbs) [$5] I thought this was going to be a boiled basket of hot shrimp with heads and everything but it actually was cold pre-packaged (head off) seasoned shrimp with cocktail sauce. Plus I saw them packaging the shrimp in the back since we came really early for lunch (11am) Nevertheless it was surprisingly really good! The seasoning was just perfect. Lobster Roll Pre-made ($12) This is how it went down: B. takes a bite out of lobster roll Me: Hey is it good? can I have a bite? B: Yeah, it's okay. Here Me: (takes a small bite, returns to B) Hey not bad B: Yup Me: (2 sec later) Hey where's that lobster roll? B: I ate it all. Me: What!? You practically inhaled that thing! B: Yuppm :D He said it was awesome but for the price I would rather buy a whole lobster. Crab Salad ($7.50) I'm not really a salad person but my family said it was really good and they give you a decent amount of crab. There's romaine lettuce chopped up with cherry tomatoes, some sort of cheese and your choice of dressing. For 5 people, we spent about $60-70 for a seafood feast. There are a bunch of clean long picnic tables with umbrellas on the side of the building perfect for lunch on a sunny day. The lunch line didn't really start building until 12-1pm and even so the cashier takes orders really quickly. I saw alot of people order sushi but it's a bit on the pricey side. It is true that they have locally caught seafood and they are fresh, if you consider mayo filled rolls and fried food fresh (hot). However, I don't think Japanese style sushi is quite a joke. Just like licking a candy bar. So the extended in-law family wanted me to write a review to reflect everyone's opinion of this place. All in all, I'd say it rated a 3-star. Between the dozen of us, we ordered clam strips, fish, calamari, fries, lobster rolls, and sushi. We got there late, so it closed before one of us could check out the dessert options. The long picnic tables are a little dirty (seafood/oil/lemon juice) from a full day's eatin'. It's not like they can be cleaned very well anyway because it's more or less raw wooden grooved planks. The wait for the food was decent. Some of the folks indicated that the lobster roll sauce could have been creamier; some liked it fine. (They had a ready opinion since they ate 11 lobster rolls in a little over a week.) My husband had some sort of miscommunication with the order-taker, and he indicated he was never asked if he wanted the bun grilled or about the lettuce and tomatoes but was just asked if he wanted the roll to be a special order (that would be a confused "No.") So, he was very surprised when his brother came back with a grilled bun and lettuce and tomatoes, and he had in his hand a cold bun and no fixings. He preferred no fixings anyway, but the communication could have been better. The rest of the food was decent or good. Nothing extra special in this land of lobster and clams. I ordered a lobster roll with mayo, and it was $3 extra for it to be made fresh, on a toasted roll. I asked for no Tomato. I received my order and the roll wasn't toasted, there was tomatoes and I could really see or taste any mayo. For $15, I expected a bit more. The lobster bisque was good. read more

I agree with other reviewers about the Net Result being a good local to get seafood while on Martha's Vineyard. My friends and I eat there at least once, sometimes twice in the week were are there for vacation. The first year we went to MV we ate chowder at every place we went and of the six places we sampled the Chowda we crowned the Net Result with the best on the island. So definitely get a pint of the chowder, a cup size just isn't enough. The clam rolls also hit the spot. Last time my wife and i split the clam bake (Lobster, clams, mussels) with some chowder and had plenty to chow down on. Now...for the not so good news. Navigating the line to order, particularly during dinner time, can be pretty hairy. This past summer when we went there the process was the worst. A rude cashier did not help the situation in the least. One of our friends also ended up asking for the money back because after waiting over an hour for a pint of chowder, and asking a couple times politely if the chowder was ready. He was eventually told they ran out of chowder. What?! We will probably go back to the Net Result for lunch or when we can be certain they are not busy. read more

Excellent place to stop in driving along the water in Vineyard Haven. We tried the chowder, bisque, fish sandwich, crab cake, and crab cake sandwich and they were all delicious. You can take away or eat on the picnic tables outside with a view of the harbor. Lunch for 4 ran about $40 which is reasonable for a seafood lunch on the island! One of my favorite places to eat on the vineyard. The prices are reasonable, and the seafood is fresh. The fried food is good as well (French fries, onion rings, chicken fingers). The only seating is outside and its limited and there isn't a restroom, but those are the only drawbacks. Update: the staff this year! So rude. I can barely understand the girl behind the counter. My mother, who is older, couldn't quite understand her accent and she spoke very softly. My mom wasn't being rude and was trying to order and she gave her attitude about it. We drive up from Maryland, we empty the truck, I mix myself a cocktail and she heads to Net Result for two five pound lobsters!!! No one can cook these like them. Great every time!!! A great take-out seafood restaurant in Vineyard Haven. They have fish and lobster that you can take back to your rented cottage or summer home and prepare. The selection is good, and everything is FRESH. If you're just stopping by for dinner or lunch, the Net Effect has pre-made wraps with tuna / crab salads, hummus, and so forth. They also have a decent menu of lobster rolls, chowder, fish sandwiches, hamburgers, & friend seafood. Everything looked good. I enjoyed their fish taco, which is really so large that it should be called a fish burrito. It had no relation to a real Mexican taco or burrito, but it was tasty and very filling. At $4.75, the price was allll riiight. They have a few picnic tables outside that are great for groups, but there is no indoor seating. read more

The fish and chips were deceiving--looked ordinary, rectangular shaped. But they were only lightly battered, just as I like them. Properly cooked, not overdone, and tasty. Excellent Cole slaw. My husband and I have been vacationing to Martha's Vineyard for over 20 years and The Net Result never disappoints. There is no better selection or service in a seafood market on the island. In fact, yesterday I was picking up my "to-go" bags of chowder and bisque while my husband secured our spot in the car line-up at the ferry. I was given a ride over to the ferry by one of the employees as they felt the bags were too heavy!!! I mean, seriously, where does this happen? The management and order staff at Net Result are absolutely horrible. Specific to Ashely, placed an order on Tuesday, August 18th for a delivery on Friday, August 28th. Never was informed that shipments were not going out other than Thursday deliveries were not taking place. Here I am on Friday with no calls/contact that all shipment orders would be cancelled. I understand stuff happens but communication being the key. Yes, would I prefer to not have dead Lobsters, but contact would have been great as we had planned a dinner party and knowing would have helped find another solution. Poor communication, leadership and training. You can blame COVID for a lot. read more

This got such great reviews that my SO and I starting searching for it as soon as we got off the Ferry. What a massive disappointment. They have a nice outside seating area. Maybe we didn't order the right things. You can decide. I ordered fried clams. My SO fried scallops. Nice simple, came with fries. The scallops were so greasy, she spent a good ten minutes patting the scallops with the provided napkins. She ate about 1/2 and offered the rest to me so I knew her verdict. Lol. I like real Plump fried clams and some of the great reviews talked about their big belly fryers. The ones I got were so thin, I actually thought they were clam strips. My clams were greasy but not as greasy as the scallops. I really hate giving negative reviews. Traveling on day trips is fun and I often rely on Yelp reviews. We were so over the long waits for tables at restaurants around the island and was thrilled to discover The Net Result. You order at the counter and the call out your number when your food is ready. My family of 5 had no problem finding a space at the picnic tables outside. Also, it's a good option if you want to just carry out and take home. This rating is based on the lobster roll I ate here over the weekend. The most disappointing blah roll I have ever had in my entire life. I don't know if that's how they are in Martha's Vineyard, and different everywhere else in New England, but it wasn't what I expected. There are two choices on the menu- "prepared" which meant that it had been prepared earlier that day, or a fresh made one, which meant they made it to order. The dollar difference between the two was $12 and $15, respectively. When I unwrapped the sandwich, mouth watering, ready for a lobster extravaganza, I was met with a cold, untoasted bun, and a huge amount of lobster salad stuffed into it. Not even lettuce!! A lobster roll is NOT a lobster roll without the buttered, crispy bun. It's half the joy of it! Without, it's just a piece of white bread and crustacean mayo. If you're making it fresh for customers, you should at least ASK how they want it. Or put on the menu that you have to indicate you want a PROPER lobster roll. Harumph. read more

I love visiting the Vineyard during their off-season. First weekend there (for the year) and every attempt to stop at the Net Result, was thwarted for one reason or another but I made my boyfriend promise me we'd stop in before the ferry ride home. Upon entering the store, I was greeted by the friendly staff. Stepped up and ordered the hot buttered lobster roll and a cup of chowda, while waiting for the lobster roll, my boyfriend and I decided to pick up a few other items from the fish market. When it was time to pay, our total came to $84.47. I thought, man, that's expensive, but paid and left the store. While in the car at the SSA, I looked at the receipt...we purchased wild salmon ($33), crab cakes ($15), 2 lemons ($1.50), cooler bag ($10.50), cup of chowda ($4.75) and the lobster roll ($17.50), and of course there's tax ($2.22)...figured, whatever, the reviews are great, can't wait to have my first bite!!! One bite-in, and NOT what I had imagined! The lobster tasted extremely dry...as if it was frozen and defrosted multiple times. This is not an exaggeration, it is seriously the worst lobster roll, I have EVER had. And no, it did not come w/ anything, just buttered dry/spongy lobster meat on a roll. It was so bad that it made me think, is this leftover lobster from last year??? I was definitely disappointed. :( So...why the two stars and not one? Well, like I said, the staff was friendly and the chowder was great! A ton of clam in every bite! WORST LOBSTER ROLL EVER!!! I got the buttered roll and the lobster meat was so bland and did not taste fresh at all. It tasted like it was previously frozen and there was barely any butter on it.
