To skip the long wait, I went to the defaced-dollar-covered bar downstairs with a bowling alley that screams "make a memory here". I'm not really the expert on Jucy Lucys but damn was this the place to get them at. Lovely people that treat you like a friend, great beer, and a burger that... for lack of a better term... EXPLODES cheese in your mouth. It was getting to a point where I tried to dissect the patty to see how could they fit that much cheese in there. The bar feel hear is very fun. They had stuff from all over with sports, high school photos and many more. I always love a good personality to a place. Although, spacing was a smidge tight, you didn't really feel it once you settled in. Our server was kind and very attentive. We asked a few questions, and they were kind about it. We ended up with dry rub wings, hot cheese curds, and splitting a Homet burger. The burger is what you'd expect, meat between donut halfs, I probably wouldn't get it again. Best Juicy Lucy in Minnesota! We went with a group of four on a Friday night around 6 and only waited about 20 minutes for a table. While we waited, we checked out the bowling downstairs and grabbed a drink at the lower bar, which made the time fly by. All of us ordered the Joe Maur Juicy Lucy with fries and it was so good. On a quest to find the best juicy Lucy in the twin cities, many people recommended this place. Unfortunately this was a very average/below average place for that... There is free street parking, but be careful! About 10 cars go ticketed for parking in the bike lane while we were there! It is safest to park in the surrounding neighborhoods. The wait was about 40 minutes at peak dinner time, so we just sat in the car until it was time. They do take your phone number and contact you when your table is ready. Our server was nice and checked In throughout the dining experience, despite it being so busy! So did a great job! The vibes here are very "hole in the wall" "been around the block" and felt like a slice of history in this area. With it being so busy, try to be respectful and plan no more that 60-70mins here. Not a good place to be a squatter. The food: We got the buffalo wings since they stayed they were award winning. This is a crispy wings and juicy inside and a mild buffalo taste. This is not a saucy wing. It was tasty. The ranch and blue cheese were also tasty with it. The Harris buckin bronco burger was very good! We would happily get that again!! The service was great, and the food came out in a good amount of time. We ordered the "leprechaun legs" (aka fried green beans, $12) and the Nook curds (drizzled in honey, $13.25). They were both pretty expensive, but made good appetizers. Though, the honey + curds wasn't for me. We both ordered juicy Lucy's, I got the #7 names for Joe Mauer's fav burger which rang up to $17. As one descends the stairs with posters for local events and vintage beer brands, a mix of music, talking, and bowling welcomes them. This is where you'll find the second bar with locals enjoying a meal and whatever game is on. When we were there, the place was full but not too loud, yes even with the mini bowling alley right next to our table. If you're gluten-free there really is nothing here for you, unless you want chicken (wings or breast) or a burger without a bun. That being said, the chicken skewers (chicken breast on a stick) we pretty good though a bit pricey in my eyes. My friend had the wings and we shared fries for the table, as they were not included with either of our meals. I remembered hearing about this restaurant and glad we did before they closed. Old neighborhood restaurant, there's a bowling alley in the basement. We sat at one of the tables and ordered few appetizers. They had their own special dry rub called Minnesota wild dry rub. Chipotle garlic sauce is delicious on the wings. Small restaurant but cozy, bar seats in the front and tables towards the open face kitchen in the back. I've come to The Nook twice now in the last two weeks, that's just how good the food is. When walking inside the restaurant, the upstairs has a unique dining feel, but the really cool part is downstairs where there's a bowling alley and a fun sitting area. I've tried two kinds of cheese curds on the menu, the hot honey and the spicy Cajun, and they're both really good. I've also had two of the burgers so far, the triple decker and the Guy Fieri special. This place also claims they invented the Juicy Lucy, though that's something a lot of spots in Minnesota say. As far as what to order, I actually recommend sticking with the regular burgers instead of the cheese stuffed ones. They can be a bit tricky to eat, and the cheese can either be super hot or just lukewarm. The regular burgers have a lot of unique flavors and are definitely worth trying. The staff is really nice and gave us great recommendations both times I visited. I plan on going again to check out the Wednesday and Thursday specials, and I still want to come back to try bowling. We got seated downstairs right away, and we reviewed the menu under and surrounded by dollar bills previous customers left behind. So you can definitely say it's a casual vibe. The locals I dined with didn't know there was a bowling alley too, 8 lanes. The kids menu is a great deal, you get an entree (kid chose cheeseburger), side, dessert, and a drink for $8! Our group had various types of juicy Lucy's (called the nookie here), fries, onion rings, coleslaw. Oh and we shared cheese curds. I had the root beer on draft. Our server was friendly and helpful. Kid lit up when he got his gigantic twist soft serve in a cone (of course I had to help eat the ice cream). The burgers were great, note the cheese stuffed burgers must be medium. Onion rings were super crispy, fries kept their skin on and were also crispy (similar to in n out fries). I only wished that the basket liners were paper instead of plastic. let me start off by saying I've been eating at this restaurant for many many years since I was a kid. I love their food. I usually love their service. I also love the atmosphere of the restaurant. I recently moved so I called 40 minutes early to place my order because I was on a time schedule. when I arrived, I was told my order ready in about 5 to 10 minutes after about 15 minutes. I was told that they had lost my order and it never got rang in so I'm extremely upset with the service I received today. I've never dealt with this situation from this place before, but It wasn't professional.I didn't have another 15 minutes to wait because of being on my time restriction.
