The NOW is a beautiful space from their bathrooms to their waiting room. Each of the massage rooms have ocean sounds playing and are separated by a cloth wall (?) instead of a drywall so you can hear noises/conversations from your neighbors. They also have a parking garage with free parking as well. I got a 50 minute swedish massage (The Now) and my husband got the energy balancing massage (The Healer). The massages were relaxing and got our knots out but we weren't fans of their techniques where they use really slow movements. My masseuse Soshi had to go a bit deeper to get my knots out and focused on my problem area (neck/shoulder) so she barely worked on my arms/legs. She did a great job in 50 minutes since I came in really tight with sore muscles from my intense workouts a few days before. read more

Wow!! Can I give 10 stars??? Rachel was absolutely amazing. She gave me the massage I needed today. My hips and lower back are a constant pain I carry and she took such great detailed time to work it out thoroughly. I literally am not feeling and pain in my hips and lower back. Rachel has wonderful relaxing flow even though I requested a firmer deeper massage. Her technique and attention to my concerns really reflected in my session today. My neck and upper back are also areas I carry major stress and pain and both of them feel pushed out as well. Like I said 10 stars!!! I treated my partner to a massage at The Now for his birthday, and it was a total letdown. The front desk lady was super rude and rushed me in before I could even say hi to him. It was his first time there so he was running behind looking for the parking lot. She was literally burning holes in my head while I was on the phone with him telling him direction. During the massage, my masseuse wouldn't stop whispering to me, which was really uncomfortable and unprofessional. When it was time to pay, I asked for an itemized receipt since I used a gift card. Instead of just showing it to me, the front desk lady acted like I was asking for something outrageous. She was so dismissive, asking, "Is there a problem?? Do you have a question??" Honestly, I'd recommend going somewhere else. This place is way overpriced for its low level of service and inconsistent massages. I recommend Reboot in Eagle Rock. read more

Susana is truly a miracle worker. I came in feeling stiffness in my upper body. She listened to my concerns and made sure the presssure felt right throughout the entire massage. The front desk receptionists at this particular location are not friendly but hey, I guess that's not what you come here for, so, if you can schedule a massage with Russell, I highly recommend it. He's super nice, kind of a jokester, very experienced and boy does he give a wicked massage. Definitely stress the importance of your specific firmness because this man is STRONG. He will get ALL of the knots out like his life depends on it. The Now is really soothing with the sounds of crashing waves playing in the background and the aromatherapy they use is relaxing. I've been to the NOW's Silverlake location several times and had decent experiences there, so when the NOW opened a branch in Pasadena just 5 minutes from me, I was stoked! I really hoped that this newer location would be a more expanded facility than the Silverlake location. For example, it would be nice if they had a calming area that's dimly lit and comfortably furnished maybe with water, tea, and/or fresh fruit where you can spend 10-15 minutes after your massage before walking back into the brightness and starkness of the lobby. Unfortunately, the Pasadena location has even less space than Silverlake. Dollar for dollar, you get a LOT more out of a place like Spa Pura, just 10 minutes away in Montrose. Their massages are more affordable ($105 for a 60 min Swedish at Spa Pura vs. $120 for only 50 minutes at the NOW); they offer more than just massages (scrubs, facials, derm treatments, waxing, etc.); and they just have better facilities overall (a locker room, robes/slippers, showers, sauna, and comfy waiting areas to sit before/after or between services, tea). Final notes: My massage therapist Khalik (spelling?) was wonderful. However, I was also spoken to VERY rudely on the phone by one of the receptionists. Long story short-- Google maps currently has the NOW's location pinned to the incorrect parking lot, so when I arrived before my appointment time, I called to confirm that I was in the correct place. (I wasn't and had to drive back out onto the main street and into the neighboring the garage.) The person on the phone was SUPER impatient with me. She kept wanting to put me on hold even though I just needed a quick confirmation of where to park so my car wouldn't get towed. I wish I got her name, but I didn't. Anyway, that negative interaction doesn't really dictate my "Could've been better" 2-star rating of this place. It only confirms it. read more

I had an enjoyable experience that the NOW! A free parking lot with validation is in the same building taking the unneeded stress of having to find parking. It was an easy check-in and then 10 min. Wait or some for my masseuse to arrive. The facilities we clean and nicely decorated. The waiting area is a little small. There is an outdoor space, but not as useful for a late night appointment, and surprisingly there were quite a few people that arrived at the same time as me, so some people were standing while waiting - the wait wasn't long though. The massage room is one big room with curtains creating separation. It was dimly lit and they had pretty loud wave sounds to muffle out any noise from the other nearby patrons. The massage table and set up in the space was very clean and just what you need. As for the massage, my masseuse was very friendly, seemed to genuinely care about my experience. The massage was okay and what I needed. One call out not sure if it was a scab or just a rough spot, but there was a spot on her hand that when she was massaging felt rough against my back (almost scratching) but not that hard. Otherwise very much enjoyed it and would be fine to see her again. The only other thing was I felt they really push the add-ons. It was a little strange to have the front desk receptionist stand there with an iPad as my masseuse asked me how I was feeling and he kept inquiring about what add-ons to add to my service. I hope that not the intent and I'm sure several people would like the add-ons every once in awhile. I'll see how it goes time, it may be part of their process, but I feel there's a way to do that doesn't feel so sales like. Just ok, but not worth the price, I probably wouldn't recommend nor return. The place itself is beautiful and clean, staff is friendly and nice, just not sure if the massage experience was worth almost $200. Other massages for this price I was able to use other amenities like a steam room or even shower after, but this was simply the massage and I left covered in oil for the day because they don't use a hot towel to wipe off the oil slathered on your body. Tip: - the massage ended promptly at 80 minutes, so get there early to sign the waiver and do intake with the masseuse. This time took away from my actual massage :( but that's probably my fault for not getting there early. - the extra $15 for deep tissue wasn't worth it read more

I've been a sporadic regular at this location for about a year. The location is beautiful and calming, I love the candles they burn on a regular basis. I've had massages by various therapists here and they've all been good, but my go to is Mercy. She is just amazing and understands my problem areas pretty well. The reason I docked one star is because of the price. I am a member so I pay $90 for a 50 minute massage, but the fact that deep tissue is an extra $15 bothers me. I've never had to pay extra for a deeper massage. Mercy keeps me coming though, she's truly one of the best! read more

This is currently my favorite little massage place. It has a nice ambiance, the staff is friendly and they have lots of nice little touches. I appreciate the crystals, the ocean sounds and the cleanliness. I love the super cute boho decor except for the animal skin rug which is off-putting as a vegan. I just got a membership since it seemed like a pretty good deal and I want to go more often. I think it would be cool if they made more of their boutique items vegan friendly. Currently, the candles, the calm balm and the lip balm are made with beeswax. Switching to a cruelty free wax would allow both vegans and non vegans to enjoy the items plus I'd be able to try the calm balm enhancement. I'd also like it if members got a discount on enhancements and extra massages. But I do think the member prices for monthly massages are pretty reasonable. read more

Been going for almost one year since they opened this location. I mostly book my massages at night so parking has never been an issue and I have never had to pay. Location is very easy to find and very clean. Staff is wonderful. I see Taylor and she is amazing! Beautiful energy and she is very much in tune with what the body needs. She listens and makes me feel like not a care in the world when my session is done. The rooms are spacious and love the sound of the crashing waves. The products smell great and don't cause any breakouts on my skin. No pushy sales or pressure to buy add-ons but I almost always get the calm balm and more recently the gliding cups. My only problem is I spoke w/ someone on the phone to sign up for the membership with the gift card I received. Once she explained some of the details she signed me up & billed me. It wasn't until after she then mentioned how even if I cancel I'll still be billed the following cycle. I was not made aware of this when she was explaining prior to confirming my membership.
