Can't recommend enough! I got the corned beef hash omelette and my wife got eggs, sausage, home fries, and an English muffin. The eggs on my omelette were impossibly fluffy and light, the hash in it was so flavorful! It came with a slice of lemon corn bread that was very good (my 12 year old would've been in heaven) and half an English with a serving of their strawberry jam that, while very sweet, was incredibly good. Wife's eggs, home fries, and sausage were just spot on as well. Very odd though, the waitress gave us the check and it was only itemized without a total. I did quick math, left cash and headed out and on the walk back to the hotel I realized that I didn't account for meals tax. Not even sure if Maine has a prepared meals tax. We have eaten there several times and have always had a good breakfast. My wife always gets the omelette which are full of flavors and cooked to perfection. I have read in a few reviews their eggs were not cooked properly. We experienced this once and brought it to our servers attention and they happily redid the order. This place is not fancy and it is somewhat of a tight fit inside, but what it lacks in appearance, it more than makes up for in good food. We must have hit a bad day as this place used to be great! We sat at the counter where they cook. First we noticed that a plate was returned because it had scrambled eggs instead of over easy. No big deal it happens. The cook left the plate on the counter as he made the over easy eggs, no heat lamp or anything. Put the over easy eggs on a new plate and then (with his hands) put the now cold home fries and toast on the new plate. They started making my husband's omelet and had it on the plate before they had finished grilling the inside stuff. The cook took the omelet, opened it, wiped it off with a paper towel and put the filling in. Again, not too horrible but when he did this he placed his bagel on the counter ON TOP OF A DIRTY DISH RAG! Placed the bagel back on the plate and the waitress went to grab. Growing up, my mom would ration my egg intake, to the point where she would make my eggs separate from the rest of the family's just so she would know that I wouldn't steal anyone else's eggs "by accident." So imagine my surprise and delight when I came across a sign that said OMELETTE FACTORY this past Columbus Day weekend while vacationing in Maine. With a name like that, they're either selling the omelette's dirt cheap or they crank them out like a factory. It's both. Thinking about those omelettess now are making my salivating glands activate into overtime. I ordered the lobster and swiss cheese omelette, and my bf ordered his usual, sausage, mushroom, and cheddar cheese, aka the Italian. The eggs were light and fluffy, the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The omelette was BIG, and being the greedy Chinese girl that I am, I ate my whole omelette and 1/3 of his too. It was so DELICIOUS!!!! I don't know what the cook (who is also the owner) put in there, but my mouth was dancing like it was NYE 1999. It is by far, hands down, THE BEST omelettes i have ever tasted. Luckily, I went to Maine at the end of Ogunquit's beach season, so there was no wait, though I hear that the line is out the door during peak season. It is located modestly in the basement of a small building. The restaurant is small, with only 2 rooms, but it is very cozy, clean, and quaint with home-like decorations. The service staff was personable and amicable, as is most of the people we encountered in Maine. While chatting with the waiter, he told me the cook/owner has been making omelettes for 29 years! Practice DOES make perfect! The coffee was good, and they gave us some home-made banana sweet bread and some buttered english muffin. The prices are fair, though my lobster omelette was $16. But hey, its market priced, and what the heck, I was on vacation. The food was so good, it inspired me to start a yelp account JUST to write about this cute little place and its featured item, my favorites - the egg.
