Everything not a sanitary environment, care was not good at all. Medications were not administered properly or on time. When any assistance was needed it would take over an hour for any one to come if any one came at all. Food was so bad would be given cereal no milk, most of the time very little juice if any or nothing to drink with meals. Food so overcooked could not eat it. Last two days I was there could not hardly breathe wife complained 2 days in a row and they did nothing. Finally daughters came from out of town and had me moved back to hospital. Orchards was the worst experience I have ever had in a medical facility. Facility should be closed. read more

It was a nightmare, especially with night shift. Didn't receive my correct medication. I was in a room with 2 older women who were worse off than me not getting care. It would take over and hour at night shift to recieve help after doing the call light, and my two daughters calling over and over. I was 68 and after broken leg surgery. They didn't change my diapers in a timely fashion. I had a bed sore so that was imperative. I was finally able to push my rear up and change myself! It was a nightmare!​ read more

My mother was here 2.5 weeks. She had one shower in that time period. One. Shower. After a week with none I called and explained she had been sent there from the ER with a severe UTI and a bed sore and that she should have had a shower (duh) and it still took two days to get them to bathe her. After my request they bathed her, but quickly with lukewarm water. There was no further bathing after that. I picked her up and she was unclean with a soiled diaper. The staff is very nice, however, I couldn't believe the bathing was such an issue. Other facilities bathe twice per week. Some days I went in and it smelled fine, other days like urine, other days like bleach. Wouldn't send her there again. read more

I read some of the reviews and was skeptical about picking this place for my grandma. The case manager didn't give us much time to find a place after discharging from the hospital. We were able to do tour and the admissions girl was so nice! I met a few of the staff and felt very welcomed. (We toured other places and didn't get the same vibe). We're on the tail end of my grandma's recovery from her fall and we were very happy with therapy and wound care at there. Thank you, Orchards! read more

I do not recommend putting your loved one here! If you must like we did because of insurance then make sure you visit multiple times a day and bring them food!! Omg where do I start! The place is falling apart except for the entry area and the staff offices! The patient rooms are deplorable, water stains, holes in the ceilings covered with plastic, molding missing, drawers falling off, latches on sliding glass doors broken, shutters broken to name a few! The food is even worse! They must use the cheapest lowest quality food available, then it's cooked to mush! My sister and brother tried the food along with myself and we all had the same reaction: we couldn't spit it out and rinse the taste out of our mouth fast enough! As far as care during the day the care was great! At night and on the weekends it was awful! Our father fell out of bed 4 times trying to use the bathroom because no one answered his call light! Also there is no physical therapy done on the weekends! The funny thing was our dad's last day there all of a sudden we had to take precautions because he had a drug resistant infection. He had been in the facility 18 days with the same infection! The only reason this happened was they were being inspected by the State! read more

I was discharged today after about 2 weeks of deplorable, elder abuse treatment at the Orchard. Where do I begin? After three of the most recent incidents of leaving me in soiled diapers (poop and urine) throughout the night I complained to a social worker about the night shift's treatment. It was always the night shift. The doctor's order was pain medication every 4 hours if asked for, yet the night shift held up the pain medication between 60 to 80 minutes before I got the medication. The food was horrible. I eat vegetarian but they kept putting pork and other meats in my meals. Of the breakfasts, lunches and dinners for the time I was there, the kitchen got just two meals right where I didn't have to send the food back. Last week I cried to two student nurses about the shared bathroom where the floor, toilet bowl and sink were so gross. The student nurses got housekeeping to clean it after 4 days of such filth. We're talking about elder abuse here. The authorities need to shut them down and I will gladly cooperate with them if they wish to investigate these complaints. read more

DO NOT ALLOW YOUR LOVED ONE TO COME TO THIS FACILITY. ZERO STARS but that is not an option I was extremely reluctant to send my mother to this facility after reading the reviews but it was the only facility in town available and my mom did not want to be placed out of town. This was the longest 2.5 days of my family's lives, worst nightmare possible! My mother barely made it out of this facility alive. By the time she was admitted back to hospital, she was severely constipated, severely dehydrated and had a severe uti. My mother was in such bad condition, terrified, trembling and was not wanting to be left alone. We were not sure she would make it! She has been left with a long road to recovery but Praise the Lord she is going to live. The facility cleanliness was worse than a disgusting gas station bathroom!!! When I went to see my mom, she was an inch away from falling off the bed. No bed rails, call button on the floor, she was laying completely flat, licking her lips desperately needing water. There was no water on her table. Her lips were so dry and cracked. I double checked with the nurse to make sure the doctor did not have orders for her to not have fluids but there were none. Unacceptable!!!!! They just did not want to help her to use the restroom. Instead they gave her NO water and put a diaper on her. The only fluid on her table was the bile she was spitting up. It took me asking 3 times and 30 minutes to get my mother water. I could go on and on about the negative and traumatizing experience but people stop reading after a while, so I will stop here. The only positive thing I can say is Melanie, Director of Nursing, was responsive most of the time and assisted in getting my mother to the hospital. Again, do not send your loved one to this facility!! read more

Not enough staff, case manager never returns calls, nurses at desks are on personal phones, pretty bad when an employee tells you to get care elsewhere, it took them 3 days to read my persons case after being admitted, they were not aware of most injuries, took 4 days to get meds ordered, patients don't receive meds as directed and / or wait hours to get them Housekeeping told me they only clean rooms 1 time a month because they do not have the staff, upon my person being admitted we had to have them come clean the room that had food and left over bandage dressings from another patient behind the bed and nightstand. read more

The Orchards Post Acute We had a family member admitted there late June of 2024 and was there approximately close to 3 weeks to a month. She went in with back problems and was there for physical therapy rehab. She left there with contacting pneumonia ,bronchitis , blood infection and a blood clot. Our family member said she felt like she was dying in there. We are now in the beginning of September 2024 and still dealing with health conditions because of health issues that she had acquired there at Orchards. She had passed out for about 4 to 5 minutes and the facility had called me up and told me most likely she was seizing. Well when I pulled the medical records from their facility they changed the story from 4 to 5 minutes to 10 seconds and was communicated to us to 2 family members that she had passed out for 4 to 5 minutes. They changed there story. She had to be rushed to the hospital. Her roommate confirmed what happened to our family member when I talk to her. Our family member is still battling heath conditions right now from what she acquired at that Orchards facility. If you don't want your friend family member or close love one getting sick do not send them to this facility. This has been the worst horrible experience in healthcare that we have ever experienced. The health department should really look into this facility. I don't know how a place of this kind can care for patients. Mostly their staffs are students or young interns trying to make their hours or obtain a certificate in nursing. And for people that need health care should not be around facilities like this. Their air conditioning are swamp coolers and there are three patients to a room and they all have a stand-up portable rotating fan in front of each patient and it is real muggy in there. Their ratings speak for themselves. Now I know why facilities end up changing their names. In the last 2 1/2 months I've talked to a lot of different nurses from the hospital that no of this place and actually confirmed that is not a good place to go to. When you push your nurses call Button and when they come in they sound irritated and rude like if you are disturbing them and they ask you what do you want. I'd literally hear nurses and case managers getting irritated with other patients as well and talking rude to them to. Horrible place!!! (-1) rating Don't send your Loved ones there. Went to the orchard around 2023. I had a massive medical emergency and my first memory was pretty damn awful. I remember waking up and my roommate helped me when I panicked saying to use my call button. I hit my button I tried putting words together asking what happened and in a rude tone they said you had a seizure and walked out. I call again cuz im still confused same attitude finally a sweet nurse Bobbie (thank you so much) kindly and sweetly explained to me that my family found me and this is what happened. Well the food not great but my family left to get me food. One man who was grouchy with my guests straight up left. I quickly finished pitcher of water and called a nurse asking for more. She stops asks where is he? I said I don't know he left. She asked what do you mean he left? I gave attitude I don't know he just left. They found him outside. He said my wife is waiting for me out there and in a cold tone they said no she's not and literally tossed him back into bed. Come to find out which he told me before leaving he was a holocaust survivor. Seeing him being treated that way nearly broke me down. Another roommate I had who calmed me and we chatted nurses ignored him. When I called a nurse for him a nurse said to me while in the same room don't hit your call button for others he's mentally ill. I literally said out loud can you believe that s***. He asked what was wrong and I spoke out and he said the saddest words. "Don't worry about me, worry about yourself." This place gave me a bit of PTSD. I am thankful to the nice nursing staff who treated others well and treated me well but overall I do not recommend this place at all. To the sweet nurse who helped me I say thank you she went above and beyond. She is the only reason why I'm not giving the place 1 star minus me having to get up to find a nurse and the poor treatment, it was her and the others who treated me well and were kind and understanding that made me give it two stars. read more

(when I say abusive, I mean physical abuse causing bruising) They let patients lay in their own body fluids, patients on feeding tubes do not get fed on time (several hours later) and the compassion and empathy is sorely lacking. If you know anyone that has a loved one there, pull them out. Please feel free to share this so that everyone in Bakersfield knows. We have filed complaints with every agency we can as well as a criminal complaint. I would not normally air our business but we need this place held accountable. We do not want anyone else to go through the trauma that our mom went through. We are her only voice as she can't speak. We are the only ones that can protect her. This place is a DUMP. Extremely outdated. Needs tons of work to bring up to date. In addition to being a dump, it's difficult getting anyone to answer the phone. I've tried numerous times to reach my elderly mother with no success. Water was requested numerous times with no success. The staff...well, I won't even comment. I had to go here for Rehabilitation and therapy after having a right leg below the knee amputation. Some of the Staff were nice and caring after you got to know them but also some of the staff would judge you before getting to know you. they didn't care if they just left you in your bed for an hour or more they did try to serve food that i guess was nutritious if you like mush everything had no flavor and was over cooked if you did not know your medications you may get the wrong pills. they did not care for patients rights hey just moved you around at there leisure and was always trying to place me in long term care. they are under staffed and over worked and they really need to do some remodeling i would not recommend coming here for short or long term care there are a few really good people who work there but sadly more are hard to communicate with or so over worked that they just don't care my therapy was good till i was told that my insurance would not cover it any more Just don't bring your family here its like a prison they would leave you sitting in your own urine or feces for hours. they would also rather leave you laying in bed as to get you up and active. you also need to keep an inventory of your belongings or they will be lost forever read more
