If I could pick 0 stars I would. This place neglects the dietary needs of their patients and is not very attentive.

The following are things I noticed: All staff members seemed to have professional attitudes and work ethics, keeping busy either with the residents or in the facility. I saw no less than 4 persons cleaning: 2 washing the walls, one a toilet and one cleaning & disinfecting wheelchairs. I didn't see any lolly gagging or idle chit chat among themselves. The facility was not only clean but, they take time there to make it feel homey, not only with the bedding that covers the beds but pictures and, with Easter around the corner, they had decorations for that on each residents' doors & on bulletin boards in different places. Each resident has their own space in a closet, their own nightstand and dresser. They can have their own decor, bedding, etc. in their room. My MIL has a lift chair other relatives bought for her in her room. There's a very nicely kept patio for the residents to enjoy complete with patio tables & chairs & healthy looking plants & flowers-cheerful. Lunch smelled wonderful! And, it was a healthy, balanced meal. All in all, I highly recommend Westchester Gardens as a facility for your elderly loved one who needs care you can no longer give. They give the residents their meds on time, are open to questions & have a caring, professional, well trained staff.

In any event, most of the reviewers either love or dislike this place. My biggest complaint is slow, or nonexistent response time, during long stretches of late night and early morning sleep tome. Also, it's been way too cold in here, even though we're in Bakersfield. My final verdict is 2 stars.

The doctor should have cleared the room of all family members and ask the patient specific questions regarding cognitive and memory conditions. But no, this doctor asked the patient while the abusive family member was standing right on top of them these questions. The family member who held power of attorney then threatened the doctor, nurses and other hospital staff. No report of elder abuse which could be construed as being a loving family member and protocols were thrown out the window. The family member who held the power of attorney documents over the hospital and NOT conservator ship then bullied Hospital staff not to give other family members life-threatening information, causing irreparable damage to the patient who was already in a Fraele medical condition. Shame on San Joaquin Hospital for not reading between the lines of what is not a loving family member but a abusive, iron fist controlling individual. God will judge those involved. This heartfelt message has been written by a family member in what I feel is the issue that needs to be addressed with a parent who cannot cope with overbearing family members. God will address this.

Round 1 The Lab gets 2 stars this location on Stockdale for my appointment I waited in the line marked appointments for 10 minutes with no one even coming out to see if there were customers waiting. 14 minutes in all and 6 customers outside a young man walks out and asks if there are any appointments I raised my hand and he checked me in. fine .. I look on the lab board and I am dead last.. ok I wait about 5 minutes and 3 people go into the lab. I walk back to the counter to ask why I have a 50-55 MJ ute wait when I have an appointment. He said " you have an appointment? I said yes when you asked I raised my hands and you checked me in . The young man checked me in and I shot to the top of the list . 1-2 minutes wait time. Round 2 I get called back and I asked for a butterfly needle because I have issues with the normal size and phlebotomists missing my veins.. Since I figured this out 6 years ago I have never had a problem.... Until now I get a girl/woman who puts in the butterfly and misses my vein.. spills out and reinserts to fine the vein. Blood drawn I get gauze and tape cool.. next day .. pictures below.. Round 3 my 9 yr old daughter goes with my wife and gets blood drawn with a butterfly needle , says the girl missed and had to wiggle it around . My wife was upset and took down her name says she told it to my kids PCD. Guess what ? same phlebotomist. So this is my issue and I've never done this before but the Stockdale location is fine except this one phlebotomist. I wont say her name but it rhymes with Bristal. Kaiser please send this person back to phlebotomy school I have never bruised in the last 6 years and my child bruised once a a child. This is expected but not with such frequency.. I'm sure she misses much more than she hits This is totally unacceptable. I've had blood drawn every 3 months for the last 12 years at the VA and let me tell you they are bad but they don't deal with children so it's different. Head are the pics of my arm I'll do an update my kid is ashamed to go to school with a noticeable bruise on her arm and wears a compression sleeve to hide it.. Luckily she's a bit athletic so her friend think it's cool. Long story but I believe necessary.
