Mel's has not been a favorite of ours in years but since they started to offer nyc chopped cheese we decided to give it another go, welll we doordashed it and they screwed up our entire order, we recieved items we didn't even order, we didn't recieve half of what actually ordered and what we did recieve was totally incorrect and had ingredients on it that were NOT supposed to be on it, half of our food was so god damn saugy and disgusting too. I am over beyond furious, Mel's you better count your damn days, yall are fucking terrible. and before anyone says "well don't doordash it", we literally live less than three minutes from Mel's. read more

I don't often eat "traditional" large American breakfasts, but sometimes I just need it. I didn't really want to battle the mimosa crowd so we decided on a more family friendly spot. This place is in a great location to knock out some errands afterwards too. The inside is standard Mel's diner with throwbacks to the 50s everywhere. This was a nice change of pace from the farmhouse decor that every new restaurant uses. The restaurant was clean, but a bit cramped. The service was outstanding. You can tell when a server is experienced and ours was really good. He was polite, professional, and confident. He didn't write anything down and everything came out perfect. I ordered the full stack of pancakes. They were fluffy and tasty! I couldn't eat all of them, but I tried. I ordered 2 sides of bacon thinking that I would get 4 pieces and my son would get 4. I got 1! The bacon was good too. This place has the best coffee I've tasted at a breakfast place in the area. Most places taste like instant coffee. I highly recommend! read more

I've been here a few times years ago and my most recent visit was on Wednesday, 10/5/22 with a party of 3 around 2pm. We were seated right away. I noticed very few guests dining in. The service on this visit was great. I ordered the San Francisco Melburger which is severed on a sourdough bread w/ a side of Clam Chowder Soup. The bun was toasted nicely and the overall burger was good. The Clam Chowder was great. We also got the Egg-White Omelette w/ Hash. This was fine. Lastly, we ordered a Patty Melt Burger. I've been to this Mel's location several times as it's near my house and every time it's been fine with the service and the food. The staff is friendly and the food is decent for chain diner food. Don't expect anything fancy here, just the basic burgers and salads and some other fried foods. This last visit we had the cheeseburger served with fries and the fried chicken tenders or pieces or whatever. The burger was great, tasted as expected, but the chicken pieces were on the dry side. I know it's just frozen per battered pieces tossed in the fryer, but I think they could do better. The pieces reminded me of those circus animal crackers or those pink and white animal cookies. I'll still come here, but stay away from most chicken things here and go with the burgers ans shakes. read more

Like with anything their menu has gone up in price. The service is good. I tried a new dish I had pancakes and scrambled eggs, the pancakes were a little on the dry side even with extra butter. My husband enjoyed the country scramble skillet. The place is clean and the folks are friendly. And playing the jukebox is always fun. read more

I recommend the Monte Cristo sandwich and their onion rings--so crispy and juicy. I also love the fries and have had Mel's shakes and malts. Fish & chips also very good. It's a great vibe ala "Happy Days" and "American Graffiti." It's close to the Blue Oaks movie theater. You can eat here before or after your movie. I like this place! read more

I was blown away by the friendly service and quality food. I do not frequent Mel's, and honestly my favorite part of my meal was the fresh side salad with a delicious blue cheese to help that huge french dip sandwich with also a delicious au ju. First time to this location had breakfast with my family. We were greeted by a sweet friendly server named Madison who provided excellent customer service all morning. I had the breakfast sandwich with bacon and Swiss and the Mel's hashbrowns everything was great but the hashbrowns could've been a little warmer. My mom had the 2+2 and my kid had the strawberry pancakes and was happy to see they use fresh strawberries not canned! Overall great experience will be back for breakfast! read more

Went to Mel's yesterday. Was very pleased with the greatly improved service and food quality. Things had experienced a real decline in quality and service for quite a while. With the recent change in ownership this location has made a real come back. I had the club sandwich and it met all of my expectations. The sandwich was great and the fries were tasty and served with a side of ranch dressing which was unusual but a very nice compliment for the fries. The service was excellent. The server checked in often and was very prompt with our orders. Will be returning. read more

Hash browns for both of our plates were way undercooked and completely drenched in oil. Doesn't even taste like potatos. It taste like straight oil and to make it worse they were cold. There is only what i can explain as an ocean of oil at the bottom of my plate. Did my hash brown get a full-on oil bathing? Was this potato from Oildale? How can you mess up literally the easiest thing to make on the entire breakfast menu? Even the tortilla on my breakfast burrito was drenched in oil. At least my order was right this time. read more

Really looking forward to a nice home style fried chicken dinner - you know the kind you have to wait for the kitchen to cook up fresh for you. I was warned "we just changed vendors and you get two thighs and a tiny wing and leg" - try something else. So I got a fried chicken sandwich (Parmesan) and a side salad (the dressing was great - the one highlight of this meal) Sub par, over cooked chicken sandwich, fresh bun ( another mini highlight). And about a third of my "salad" was the mess photographed here. My advice (1st time ever saying this in a review) - SKIP this place and wait a year - It really is that bad. If you work here please look for another job, save yourself - worst meal in the Lincoln, Rocklin, Roseville area! The girlfriend and I popped in on Friday for some steak and eggs; which we've always loved especially since we don't have to clean up. The food tasted great (as always), and the staff were awesome as usual. But an hour later GI issues began. Normally, I wouldn't even think about posting about it knowing that it could be the flu, or Covid or anything else. However, the next day the girlfriend made a sandwich out of the steak that was left over from the day before and boom! the GI attack happened to her too an hour later. The "MelFries" are as good as it gets, if you're a fan of fries, such as I am. I've been to this Mel's location once before but I frequently order for delivery through one of the food delivery apps. I always love their food. This visit was a "late night" morning visit at 0500. No line, only a few customers. Immediately greeted by our waiter, Christian. Polite, courteous and quickly got our drink orders. He was very attentive and easy going. We all got orders of milkshakes/floats and they were massive. Our food came out pretty quickly, everything was correct, hot, and perfect. Everyone was overstuffed with how much food they give you in their servings. I've been to a couple Mel's Diners and this one ranks at the top. read more

This place has gone downhill. We used to love Mel's. We went Friday night around 8:30pm the place was almost empty. There are flies everywhere. We ate shooing flies from our food. It was disgusting. We've been going to Mel's for years, and this location remains one of our favorite locations in the Sacramento metropolitan area. The prices are more affordable than some of the other locations in the region. The restaurant is located in a nice shopping center where you have options for entertainment, including a movie theatre, and the employees are accommodating and patient with our dietary desires and needs. The last time we went here, I got a heaping plate of chili cheese fries for under $10, and our server, Jacob, was particularly conversational, insightful, and attentive! I always enjoy going to Mels, it holds a special place in my heart, especially this one. Frequently, I get the chicken tenders (yummy and classic, plus their ranch is so good!), the Belgian waffle (wow!!! So good, a little pricey though FYI), or the Caesar salad (also classically good, with a delicious side bread). Don't forget their milkshakes, they're always a fun treat to enjoy out with friends! My friends and I always have a blast coming here, we love the vibes of the restaurant -- it's decorated 50s diner themed. This is one of those restaurants I'd call "reliable". Fortunately I've never had a bad experience here. It's a cool place to go hang out and the food is pretty good. I have found the quality and service to be consistent...and that is more than I could ask for. **Plus the fruit that comes on the side with their breakfasts tastes fresh, unlike some other comparable breakfast places around town.
