One night I was unusually craving their tuna sandwich but was dissatisfied with it. I took one bite and was like... nope! It tasted as though it had been sitting in the pregiater since a month ago. I got a BLTA which was perfect - just the right amount of mayo on a perfectly toasted bread, with a hearty portion of bacon, crisp lettuce, ripe avocado, and tangy tomato. This morning. A manager there was yelling at one of her employees that I hadn't seen before, but was incredibly sweet to us when she seated us. We go there pretty regularly, and this manager usually seems ok but not the nicest. I want to say you should never yell at your employees in front of customers. It's so disrespectful and tasteless. Learn better self control as an adult. The girl seemed really young. And was working and was yelled at for it. I saw the girl leave. That was so unprofessional. They definitely live up to their steak and eggs combo. I ordered my steak medium well and it came out just right. My scrambled eggs and potatoes were also just right. Prices on the menu were also what anyone would expect going into a diner. Nothing priced above $11. The only downside to this place is the service. Our waitress was nice, but it took her at least 10-15 minutes to ask us if we were ready to order, let alone introduce herself as our waitress. She also did not come back to see how we were doing and to refill our water. The only times she came around was when she introduced herself/we ordered, served our food, and gave us the check. They should also work on their speed because it also took them a while to get our food to us. Overall, I would say give this place a try IF you have the time and patience. read more

The spot is open. I would return as it seems to be good home cooking. The only issue we had was our order was not placed correctly. I order egg whites and the omelette came with real eggs. They did apologize and correct tit but the waitress should have redone everything at once. As it was she left the side orders on the table so they were cold when the omelette returned. read more

Our order came in under 10 mins but it was the wrong order.. we saw our plate with steaks and sunny side up egg, so when she came back for our hotcakes, we immediately got her attention that it wasnt the vegetarian omelette and she admitted the mistake .. the order was meant for the couple behind us but in less than a minute, she delivered our orders already.. This was our first time placing an order over the phone in a very long time due to Covid! The woman who answered the phone was absolutely wonderful and we received our pick up order on time and with everything we asked for! Huge portions and everything was delicious! We brought our small dog with us to enjoy our early lunch in the bed of our truck and saw that they opened their inside seating! It was a beautiful site to see! The staff was great and you can tell they are doing their best to keep everyone safe with all the proper precautions! Can't wait to return and enjoy some nice hot pancakes!! The first time I went, I ordered the jalapeno Melburger. The service at the time was overwhelmed and I gave them some slack as the waitress looked like she was at her wit's end. Had a mishap where only one of the burgers my friend and I ordered was pushed through, so I had to wait for my food as I let my friend eat first. Fast forward to tonight, I went there around 10:00pm, because my wife and I came back late and it was either Denny's or Mel's. We both didn't want Denny's, so this was the next best choice. Oooh, were we wrong. The service this time was fine. We got the same waitress, and she wasn't being overwhelmed this time, but the food. The food was an entirely different story. I ordered the BBQ chicken and steak dinner, while my wife got the taco salad. The taco salad, aesthetically, looked good, but that was where the good stopped. She got no salsa or pico, and the meat tasted of old feet. The meat looked as if someone took a cheese grater to a cow and then cooked it on the grill with no seasoning. The tortilla tasted like stale cornflakes, too. As for my dinner, I got a flimsy piece of NY Strip steak that had silver skin that was still attached and not trimmed. I had to saw on it harder than a lumberjack in a rainforest. Also, the chicken was bland and dry, much like eating a foam slipper. The coleslaw I ordered along with it tasted like the KFC coleslaw if you had left it open overnight. And to top it off, my fries were late. Also, I couldn't even review the cornbread. Why? Because it never made into my mouth. Or the table. Or the oven. Hell, I don't even think it was even made. Bummer. Overall, I don't think I'll come back. Save your cash. Buy taco bell, buy a frozen TV dinner. Eat a dirty sock. These will all taste better. read more

It took 45 minutes before one person at our table was served his meal. It took another 10 minutes for next meal to be served. We actually had to ask for the second meal to be boxed to go as we are on a schedule. They prepared multiple to go meals for pick up. It seemed that they were more concerned with those than with people actually in the restaurant. It is a very unorganized, chaotic place to be. There were also lots of flies in the restaurant. I had breakfast at Original Mels Diner Vacaville, CA at about 2:15pm today and after 10 min of waiting for a refill on coffee I get up & get it myself since it was about 10' from me and my cup was sitting at the edge of the table as waiters walked bye. Then the manager comes over and with attitude tells me I need to wait on coffee. I told him I did wait & I like coffee with my breakfast not after. He gets in my face and tells me to stop being a jerk like he was going to kick my ass or something. He said now they have to throw out the whole pot because I touched it which was a lie because they continued to serve others from it.
