This isn't a place to groom your cat. Period. The business is oriented towards serving dogs as they don't have the proper grooming tools to trim a cat. Instead of a trim, we got a complete shave of our cat's fur (who the hell shaves their cat's hair down to the skin). The person in charge, Oscar is the heir to the original owner (who's been there for 20+ years) according to Oscar - which I guess explains the original client base, but it's under new management now. When we called back to complain about the miscommunication between the shave Oscar was extremely rude, confrontational and said that I was in the wrong. Not once did he acknowledge that he never said BALD shave. Trust me, you're much better off going with a different pet groomer if you're a cat owner. If you don't believe me, you can see an excerpt from a previous review where again I'm presuming Oscar didn't communicate correctly the nature of the trim: "Just wanted a light trim and her paws cleaned up and nails clipped. Told them not to shave her - VERY SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS. I don't even understand why any well trained groomer would need to even be told to NOT shave off the long hair on a long haired dachshund." This demonstrates the pattern of lacking customer service and inattention to detail + their trigger happy fingers towards shaving animals - for whatever reason. At the end of the day, this place is very unprofessional, the workers didn't have a uniform on, the place is cash only (and doesn't even take cards), there isn't a waiting area. On top of all of this, as I mentioned earlier, Oscar let his pride take over his business and couldn't man up to the miscommunication. Don't bring a cat here to get trimmed / groomed. read more

I was looking for a groomer that could handle a dog that suffers from separation anxiety. I drop by to meet the owner and see how my dog would react to him and his shop. The owner, Oscar was very nice and my dog, Sheba kept her distance and didn't try to leave the shop. So I scheduled an appointment for grooming the following week. When we arrived Oscar took the time to get acquainted with Sheba. And she was fine until the bath. The person that bathed her was having some difficulty. Sheba was whining and backing a lot. Oscar went to help his helper, as he was finishing up Sheba's bath I heard him talking to Sheba. He was using a very calm soothing voice and Sheba wasn't whining or barking. He dried her, cleaned her ears and cut her nails. Sheba was so calm. I was so pleased with Oscar, usually Sheba puts up a finish with new people , especially males. The whole experience was great, we'll be returning to Pampered Pet. read more

I was like a nervous mom dropping off her kid for the first day of school but to my surprise when I picked her up she was not under any stress and the grooming was just what I requested. Had the most awful experience at this dog groomer , and I would never take my dog back there every again ! I have an Australian Shepard (naturally long hair / thick coat) and the groomer was too lazy to brush threw the tangles that he shaved her completely until her tail was completely raw and she had a gouge on her stomach that was 6 inches long and at least 3 inches wide . They poured tons of stop bleed on her without telling us, and locked her up in a cage all day because they didn't want to call us to tell us the bad news. We dropped her off at 8am in the morning and we barged in @ 5that night because we still didn't heard anything . Now my dog is terrified to ever go back to the groomer and her coat is ruined for the rest of her life. I miss my fluffy little baby. I RECOMMEND NEVER GOING HERE ! read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE! These people BROKE MY CAT'S JAW at around 1pm and never bothered to call me. I found out at 5pm when I came to pick him up. Worse yet, they could have walked him to the vet clinic located directly across the street but they chose not to. TOTAL NEGLIGENCE on their part. My cat had emergency surgery and his jaw was wired shut for 6 weeks. My poor baby was eating from a feeding tube from the side of his neck. If that wasn't bad enough, they had NO BUSINESS INSURANCE and therefore we were stuck with a $7K vet bill. I took him to small claim court and I won. But, to this day, they have not paid me one cent. Mary Lou Lathrop, caregiver of The Pampered Pet, has cared for our several cats for nearly 20 years. She is reliable and gives the cats loving and professional care for all the times she has worked for us. Our travel has been as long as 3 weeks and as short as a long weekend. On one trip she gave our old and sick cat subcutaneous injections that prolonged his life. She is not a vet and could have begged off, but she did volunteer to do that for us and our cat, for which we were most grateful. On a subsequent trip, when the cat grew very sick, she called us on the other side of the country, and we were able to call our son in the Bay Area, so he could come and take him to the vet. Took my maltipoo here to get groomed after her mom died and she was very timmid and wouldnt let anybody groom her but me. So i told the groomer the story about mi Bella and he told me i had nothing to worry about and that he would take care of her. So i went to pick my dog up 2 hours later and she was at home withh the groomer and his family. NEVER going back here! We brought our 2 dogs to this place earlier this week and my dogs came back with anxiety and scabs on their body from a super close shave to their genital areas! We just came back from the Vet yesterday because our dogs have not slept since we got them back and found out that one of our dogs might has a fracture on his back!! The Vet was livid as to why they shaved that close to their skin and told us that our other dog might have been dropped from a high place or his cage. Since that day both of my dogs came back uneasy, lots of crying, and stress anxiety per the vet. What did you do to them???? after reading the other reviews which we should have done prior to bringing them, I'm not surprised as to why people have written such horrible reviews! Now we've paid over 500 to rectify what you've done. Our pets are our family, you should take better care of them since that's what your in business for. read more

My parents took our new puppy we adopted to get her first haircut. Using Yelp, this seemed like a good place to go to. I'm not going to go into detail on how much my mom disliked our puppy's haircut because it can be subjective. However, there were many things that left us appalled. Most importantly, the groomer CUT our puppy's skin in MULTIPLE places (including a deep, long cut in her nipple area) and did NOT notify us. We only noticed when we took her back home and saw the scab the next day. I know for a fact it wasn't there before because we always rub her down every night before she sleeps. Overall, I would strongly recommend my fellow Yelpers to go elsewhere if you cherish your dog's appearance and well-being. I am extremely disappointed. read more

Took my dog to this place back in June so I hope things have improved for them BUT: Found this place through yelp and the reviews seemed great so I made an appointment. I have a long haired dachshund mix that requires a little bit more attention. But Since she's been going to various groomers in numerous states since she was a puppy, she's pretty use to the entire process. They didn't ask for shot records or anything and that should have been a red flag. Just wanted a light trim and her paws cleaned up and nails clipped. Told them not to shave her - VERY SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS. I don't even understand why any well trained groomer would need to even be told to NOT shave off the long hair on a long haired dachshund. When I got her back, she was shaved and the nails were still to long and jagged. Boot camp haircut just like at bark and bubbles. They called me twice to tell me they'll need more time with her leading up to about a 5 hour wait (horrible time with the tragic results). She came home and threw up and seemed so sick. The place was SO messy and entirely unorganized. I don't advise this place and won't go back myself. I read that the owner has been doing this for 30yrs... Maybe it's time for a change. read more

I hate writing long reciews but this is a must. First of all ask about your pet and how they serviced to them and not just about the haircut. Don't go here if you want your dog to be pampered. The place is called Pampered Pets and they didn't even pamper him. LAZY. My Shih Tzu's fur doesn't smell good, looks like they are cheap. His hair is uneven because they cut his hair last. He also has a CUT on his skin making some of his fur have dry blood. The owner of the store was arguing with me but I ask a simple question : Why does it take so long to cut his hair ? Waited for 5 hours and no wait time given. Asshole owner tells me "I'm doing you a favor to take him in." I told him straightforward if you knew you guys are booked why didn't give a time? If they been cutting hair for a Business then how can they not know per breed? I told him you are not answering my question. Then he says its because of the matts under his chin. Come on that only takes a fast shave off, which my vet told me earlier today before we came here for his haircut. The owner has three sons that looks like the manpower of this place could have finished already. Even more RUDE the sons butt in the conversation. Overall, the customer is always right and he was Objecting to everything I said. Then he says " you know what I am not going to cut his hair anymore don't come here." I told him if you want your customers to be happy give an exact wait time. What you will not do service to me because I asked this simple question? It looks like they always take more dogs in, let them wait in the cage for 3-4 hours. Haircut is like 1-2 hours. But we picked her up and her nails were short and her fur looked beautiful. Although I had no appointment, they worked me in the same day and had the cat bathed within a couple hours. Though they only take cash (and perhaps checks as others have indicated) they couldn't make change for me. This resulted in my paying a larger than expected gratuity but, at the end of the day, I just chalked it up to getting a last-minute service. Dam, these guys did a great job with my cat. (white, long haired, albino) He had mats of tuff on his back that I couldn't handle. His quality of life was going down hill for a long time. This is an overdue review for why i stopped going to the pampered pet. I use to come here all the time when the owner ran the business and my dogs loved him. Since he retired and his son took over my dogs were ill groomed and had been coming home shakinging, one got sick multiple times after a grooming. My dogs were always happy with the father. Took my dog here after reading the reviews on yelp and was not impressed with the service. My dog did not receive the cut I asked for and was semi wet when I picked her up. The price is definitely cheaper than most places, but wasn't worth it. This place may be better suited for smaller dogs. My pitbull/collie was the only medium sized dog there. read more

I had my cat groomed there today for the first and LAST time. My cat is a gorgeous long haired beauty. Well was. I asked for her to get a full groom and was quoted 80 on the phone. My son dropped her off and was told 90. I quickly called and reminded them of the telephone quote. He said he'd honor it as that was what was quoted. Why the difference? Next my kitty was indeed washed and her nails trimmed, ears cleaned etc. However, her "trim" is a joke. She's basically bald except for sporadic splotches of hair where they weren't able to reach I guess. I don't like it and neither does she! Either say you don't know how to do it evenly or don't do it. It's probably going to be 6 months before my poor Maybellene looks slightly normal again. Now I understand why they force you to pay cash in advance! Buyer beware! If you care how your baby looks take them somewhere else! My baby's bottom (the reason I brought her in) is now completely raw because he shaved her to close. I'd give a pic but it's nasty. She hurts! read more

I have been taking my little Yorkie here for almost 2 years there. The owner and groomer, Trini, has had my complete confidence after his first time grooming my dog. He does have some sort of special touch with animals as well as doing an excellent job of clipping them. No request I have had has ever been ignored. He has never been rude or unfriendly. He was wonderful with both myself and my Kiki. Although he is always busy, he can get your dog in to be clipped even with out appointment (no crazy long waiting periods like some of the other groomers have) Also, I love the fact that he is the ONLY one who grooms my Kiki each and every time. His wife Mina is the only one who help him to bathe, blow dry, and brush... but he does all of the clipping. This is a family own business. I just can't say enough nice things about this place... responsible, caring, clean, professional, etc. etc. etc.! Way to go Trini!!!!!!!! read more
