Unexpectedly delicious omelets, completely underwhelming pancakes. The irony... Food: hubby and I went here after church nearby and both of us ordered omelets. I got the meat and cheese and added spinach and mushroom, and swapped my sides for pancakes. I wasn't planning on ordering an omelet but had read on the menu that omelets are ... in a few words ... made from real eggs. No pancake batter in these! This piqued my interest. And when I found out I could get pancakes, this seemed to be a win win. So my omelet comes out and it is SO good. I loved the texture of the eggs because they were real and everything worked together so nicely. Delicious from beginning to end. Now the pancakes are another story which is unacceptable if you're called Pancake Chef. The pancakes were bland and a really rough texture - so sad. Atmosphere: large diner. Reminded me of a mom and pop version of ihop. Service: very friendly and attentive service. No complaints here. Started our vacation out strong with breakfast here. It was delicious. I'm not usually a sausage fan, but after seeing theirs I had to get it and I was impressed. The food is so good, and the cooks are so consistent that I can say I've never had a bad meal here. On a small note, they never do over medium well. It's usually runny but I won't complain! You've got to try the Dutch pancake. I love that they have a small version. Classic down-home breakfast joint. They do have a legit lunch menu that we did not try (Reubens, Dips, salads etc) but can't wait to! We found this place because it's near where we board our dogs. We are about 20 min away without traffic, and have options within walking distance. I'd drive back again. Substitutions are openly stated and are super accommodating. Egg whites are pretty normal. The fact that you can do a variety of pancake subs for potatoes and/or toast is cool. The reason for the 5*? Executed as you expect, and pancakes come with three bottles of different syrups, but - most importantly - the staff! You are welcomed like they are your Grandma or Great Aunt, no matter the age. Seriously. Our hostess was probably in her 20s and her warm welcome was like I'd met my long-lost sister. Weird I don't know what the hype is about. We've never been here because it looked kinda shady but according to friends this place was the breakfast place so we decided to try it. The parking was full so we had to park further down the street thinking this place must be good. The whole wait time for waiting in line and then getting your food is an hour. I understand that it's busy but the waitress didn't stop by and say "sorry for the wait it should arrive soon" or at least she should have said something. We thought about walking out because the ppl next to us got their food before us even though we were there before them. Then they brought the food in and it's ok. It's not amazing it's the same quality of food they serve at Denny's. Not sure why there's a hype about this place. I know the food is good. But today my husband and his coworker stopped by to eat. Wait time for being seated was around 15 mins. When they were seated a older heavy set woman was there waitress. After waiting for awhile finally the waitress took there order. She did say it might be a little wait since they were very busy around 10am. My husband and his friend waited and waited but still had not received there food. The table next to them was cleared 4 customers sat down and within 20 mins they received there food. My husband and his friend still have not received there food. The worst part is the waitress went on break. Finally my husband and his friend left. Very sad read more

Hungry after our flight and after spending over $300 for a rental car for one day. (Yes, one day.) I quickly did a search on Yelp for decent local restaurants for breakfast. My traveling companion and I were vacationing and had no idea what was even close. I rely on Google and Yelp for reviews in these situations. I searched and found The Pancake Chef and decided it was a great place to try and I am so glad we did! We also wanted to support a local business and not a restaurant chain. I could not be more in-love with the atmosphere, the service, and the food. In fact, I was totally impressed with how delicious the food was! Our server was very kind, thoughtful, and checked in on us in a timely fashion. We noticed the staff new several of the patrons by name which was warming and inviting to witness. People were so friendly there! The ambiance is absolutely charming and has maintained that vintage look quite well. Honestly, I was so pleased by our choice to dine at The Pancake Chef. This is the place if you enjoy a large dose of nostalgia. We were greeted at the door more than once. The decor brings you back to the 60's and feel like your at grandma's house. My memory was much better than our recent drive from our home in Renton. We had a horrible waitress who brought everything à la carte instead my wife asked for the two egg breakfast with a side of pancakes. The pancakes were not warm it wasn't like they were right off the grill which I really was hoping for. The syrup was not really warm or cold the hash browns had kind of a foul taste to them and needless to say it was not a great adventure. We will no longer consider going back here for any breakfast. We have been eating here for over 50 years which is hard to believe and I really wanted the pancakes I remembered and was poorly disappointed. When we mentioned to the manager about how bad things were at the register he didn't even offer to deduct or make an adjustment on our bill he just said he was sorry. If Lauren would have been there the original owner who is still alive which I'm so glad we would have talked to him about it. Nice place to have breakfast near SeaTac airport. They are known for their German pancake which comes with a lemon sauce. The pancake takes about 15-20 minutes to cook. However it's worth the wait. The pancake is not as fluffy as a regular pancake and has a slightly different texture but it tastes great. Also tried the vegetable eggs Benedict and didn't miss the meat in the dish. Junior menu is great for the kids. Good place to have a hearty breakfast before your flight or if you are in the area. read more

Great for all ages, their currently limited menu has great breakfast and lunch choices to please everyone and menu items for vegetarians, young kids, and seniors (senior breakfast). The staff are friendly, we showed up around 11am on a Sunday and it was fairly busy, there was a short wait but it was worth it. Breakfast was just right - not overly fancy, not greasy, and certainly filling enough! Interesting place to dine, it's been open for several decades, a lot of Boeing photos around the walls and it almost feels like a trip back in time. The 3-egg omelettes are simple with a number to choose from. Hash browns and other sides are not greasy. Food was delicious and our waitress was very friendly. However definitely felt unwelcome when a different waitress came by and told us to have a good weekend. Seemed odd, we got up and went to pay where an older man (might be owner) proceeded to check us out not once looking at us at our face. Seemed as though he had summoned us to be ushered to leave. He told us to add the tip of we were going to leave any, and while we checked for cash he swiped our card that's on the customer side to swipe and check us out. As an LGBT couple we know we're not welcomed anywhere but this man needs to be decent when treating his paying customer or just refuse us a seat all together. read more

Small town feel next to the big 'ol airport. Good mix of locals and travellers, you are treated like a local from the first moment, and the food and coffee are simple and tasty. The bacon waffle was was the right mix of fluffy and solid, had bacon in it and on top!..and being able to get a side of corned beef hash, glorious. My visit was 1/19 later in the morning. Seated right away. Ordered biscuits and gravy with side of scrambled eggs. Took awhile to get the food. When I received my order it was a boat of gravy and two biscuits, side plate of scrambled eggs. When I looked at the menu what I saw said came with hash browns. Server said that was on the lighter menu?? My husband shared his hash browns with me. My eggs were cold, the biscuits were dry and the gravy was cold too. Very disappointed. The only saving grace was the fresh squeezed orange juice. Very disappointing. Overall nothing had an outstanding flavor to it very mediocre. I have been here before and this by far the worst. Another positive is that it appears they keep the establishment clean. I traveled a few miles to get here, disappointing that makes me wish I had just went to a drive thru and picked up fast food breakfast rather than the waste of time and money on this meal. read more

While I appreciated the service, I thought that the actual product was average when it came down to the pancakes, bacon, eggs & coffee. The portion sizes for the pancakes are quite large, yet the bacon was a little smaller than expected, albeit too brittle and overcooked. In fact, the bacon tasted as if it was microwaved. Pancakes required additional syrup, since you can taste more of the flour and not the batter (that bland taste). The coffee was so-so, in that it tasted as if it was made in one of those huge silver canisters that had a two scoops of coffee per 12 gallons of water (ugh). The food in itself reminded me of an old school diners with that homey style of customer service. Location-wise, this place is hard to beat. An excellent stop if you are heading west toward SeaTac airport. If you have a domestic flight that goes out at 8:30 am, I'd check out of your hotel at 5:50 am and get here when The Pankcake Chef opens at 6. Overall, I would say that customer service-wise, 5 stars. Food quality, 3 stars, possibly 3.5. Parking seemed to have been limited somewhat, and that was 3 stars. Pricing was as expected (reasonable). The ambiance seemed to have an older type of feel to it, which was interesting when you consider the eclectic vibe felt in many of the other venues (even Denny's) within King county. Nonetheless, I'd certainly give The Pancake Chef another try in the future as well as seek a different item on their menu. read more

To me with Bell's palsy the coffee was not good. We got pancakes 11.50 for 3 nice size. But first that price it would be better if they came with 2 eggs at that price. Try it for your self. The employees are all nice and they get the tables clean fast. read more
