So happy to visit The Paramount again after them being closed during remodel. They didn't disappoint! The Salmon Omelette was superb with generous portion of Home Fries and Hearty Wheat toast. I would've given 5 stars if not for my server. My waitress AM H however needs training or to be sent to dishwashing. She took my order, delivered the food and then my check. She never asked how the food was or if I needed anything. I had to ask another waitress who was very helpful for some butter and coffee refills. Been to this place many times for breakfast before the pandemic... seemed okay ( and crowded) back then. Went the other day for dinner and not sure whether the place just went downhill or whether the management changed!? NEVER again! The line wrapped twice inside, obstructing employees' access to the back room and the two restrooms, whose doors both open out, as well as those at tables along the right wall, who are essentially stuck in their seats because there's no room to walk. If you're claustrophobic, you'll want to try somewhere else. Now, all at once: fire hazard! Not very wheelchair-friendly, either. I had ordered two eggs on croissant and a side of pancakes, yet they gave me eggs only and forgot the pancakes. Spent $11.63 ($2.00 of that was tip). The place : this is by far the worst floor layout I have seen. The open kitchen, waiting line, order area, tables and restroom are all packed at the back of the restaurant. This obviously cause a lot of traffic (order line, staff, restroom user). We had to eat on a table located in the middle of the action with people leaning on our table while waiting. I have lived in downtown Boston for decades and have eaten at the Paramount probably over 100 times. I hate having to admit this, but sadly the quality has just dropped... I had breakfast w/ a friend two weeks ago and the food was so mediocre. The 'sour dough' toast was not sour dough and the equivalent of bagged bread. My omelet w/ cheese was skimpy. The waffle we ordered to share was overcooked--almost burnt. This morning I went for breakfast again--same omelet, super skimpy. I didn't want potatoes and asked if in place of them I could just have a small serving/side of fruit. Nope... only if willing to pay $3 mark up. Further, sour dough bread same bread. No butter--had to request it. And my side pancake had a huge piece of saran wrap baked into the middle of it. Saran wrap. Quite grateful I saw it before I swallowed it and potentially choked on it. The waiter was unphased. I had to ask him to please take the pancake off the bill. Quite frankly, most restaurants would have comped the whole breakfast. $30 breakfasts cannot be this crappy. Paramount, you're supposed to be better than an iHop or Denny's, right? I know mistakes happen and good help hard to find, but raise the bar. You're resting on your laurels, Paramount. And if the yes on question 5 passes and the prices go up further, people will absolutely go elsewhere if the quality is this poor. An institution for breakfast in Boston and well deserved. Wait in line, order your food and then get the table. It has worked for over 80 years so do not buck the system. Been coming here over the years and do not know why have not written a review until now. Paramount is consistently good. The line moves quickly and even when the line starts at the entrance the wait is not more than 15-20 minutes. This time I had the brioche french toast which was excellent. I added fresh berries and real maple syrup. My only complaint is why a charge of $2 for the maple syrup. Overall a really good experience for breakfast. This is a quality brunch location. My girlfriend and I stumbled upon it while we were in the area, and we are so happy that we did! As the other reviews have mentioned, the process here is a bit different because you order at the counter (after waiting in a line) and then your food comes to you as you find a table. We had to wait a bit for a table to open up, but this was while we were also waiting for our food, so it ended up working out. I ordered the roasted turkey panini. Piled high on freshly sliced turkey was sliced avocado, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese and peppercorn mayo on multigrain bread. I am usually against mayo on my sandwiches, but decided to let it roll with this one because I really enjoy peppercorn dressing so hoping it would be close. The flavors mixed perfectly. My boyfriend ordered a burger (+bacon) and had nothing negative to say about it. Our only complaint with the meal was the fries served with our sandwiches. The Paramount was a gem that a friend found through Yelp, and that I'm thrilled to know is in Boston! The space seems really unique in that you order at the counter, they make your food immediately, and hand it to you within a minute and a half -- as the kitchen isn't removed from the rest of the space, you watch them making everything fresh, and the smell of everything cooking is enough to drive a hungry person crazy. Smart on their part -- I ordered more than I needed after seeing/smelling all of the food. The meal itself was delicious! I ended up ordering the avocado toast with eggs, bacon, and Cajun home fries, and was thoroughly satisfied. The iced coffee was on the weaker side, but it made it easier to drink it without milk, and with the crowds, I wasn't about to get up when we were seated. They serve salads, sandwiches, and breakfast items. The shakshouka here is a breakfast toast, not the actual shakshouka stew. One slice of bread topped with braised tomato sauce, feta, and two over-easy eggs with a side of potatoes. The shakshouka sauce was very flavorful, but the feta was a bit too salty. The eggs were slightly overcooked, lacking the satisfactory oozing yolk that makes shakshouka so delicious. The Mediterranean kale salad was very yummy, with olives, feta, cucumbers, tomatoes, slivered almonds, and peppers. Raisins would have cut some of the saltiness and acidity, but it was delicious overall, especially with the shakshouka flavors. Once you come inside, you get on line and you order your food which they start cooking almost immediately, then you pay and bring it to a table they tell you to sit at. Once annoyance is that the line is parallel to the tables where everyone is eating their food and the people are literally hovering over your plate. My wife and i ate here on a Saturday night. We were seated outside and enjoyed the backdrop of the colonial style brick buildings and the 18th century street lamps.
