Absolutely amazing Philly sandwiches and other items on the menu! staff is amazing very helpful and kind! definitely worth the visit!

I've been here twice before and had great service and good food, so I was genuinely surprised by how frustrating this visit was. I ordered a classic Philly with provolone and added mushrooms. I waited at least 30 minutes while watching another customer come in after me and receive his food first. When I asked the cashier about it, she told me he had called his order in, but I personally saw him standing there asking questions about the menu before ordering. Then I was asked if I had a number, I said no because I either genuinely didn't hear one called out and a paper one was never given to me. The cashier insisted everyone gets a number, while also trying to figure out which ticket I "must have been." Meanwhile, the cook even tried handing me someone else's sandwich before realizing it wasn't mine. At that point there was a lot of fumbling and confusion while I just sat waiting, getting closer and closer to being late getting back to work. To the owner's credit, he did apologize and gave me fries for the inconvenience, which I appreciated. When I finally got back to work and opened the sandwich, I initially thought the mushrooms were missing completely, but they were actually only on one half of the sandwich. After such a long wait and all the confusion, it just added to the disappointment. I hate leaving reviews like this because my previous experiences here were actually really good, but this visit definitely left more to be desired. read more

Short and simple review. The Philly was a solid choice for a big sandwich. $14 dollars for it seemed a bit steep but that's the same price as most subways now. This was a great Philly cheese steak. The peppers were perfect tender and firm. I got mine with pepper jack. Walked right up to the counter. It was towards closing and the smelling of mopping was thick in the air. It was a bit off putting but the store itself was clean looking. The guy behind the counter's advice was to not get the classic cheese wizz. Will eat again read more

Met with an old coworker here for lunch. It was not a bad spot, a wee bit expensive for 2 people. Our total came out to $49 (with tip). The service was mediocre and the environment wasn't too bad but a few homeless people outside but did no harm. My coworker loved the food and I loved my food too. I had gotten (2) original full Philly cheesesteaks from this location with provolone, peppers and onions for $18.03 dining in. It was pipping fresh/hot, and seasoned well. It was good for a Philly cheesesteak right here in Sacramento. Very filling sandwich as well. Probably my last time going back. The owner is yelling at people on the street to come in his restaurant, with what looked like a "Modelo Negra" in his hand. The owner is yelling at his cooks and server still with the beer in his hand (I was very shocked seeing this) ...all while the server is serving and taking orders! music was very loud and as the owner is trying to talk to us and make jokes we can't hear him or anyone else. He proceeds to turn it down to conversate, then turns it all the way back up. It was extremely hot in the restaurant as well. I had to hurry up and finish my food, as the music was so loud it hurt my head and it felt much cooler outside. Located on k street busy area, especially on weekdays with all the state workers. Still they're pretty quick. Lots of seating, could be cleaned up a bit but I've seen a lot worse. As for the food, it's ok. Not great tasting, not the greatest of value but gets the job done if you want a cheese steak. My biggest gripe, they microwave the stale bread so you get a chewy roll. read more

My husband and I wanted to try something new so after reading the Yelp reviews, we landed here. Excellent customer service! The young man who took our order was friendly and had no problems answering our questions. We both landed in the original Philly w/provolone cheese & hot peppers instead of the sweet. We also shared a side of garlic fries. The food was great!! Piping hot, prepared to perfection with a nice amount of steak! $14 is a great price point and we both only managed to eat half of our sandwiches! Walking past this place, you'll be drawn in by the classics and oldies music blaring from their outside speakers, instantly setting a positive atmosphere. The Philly is a fantastic lil Philly cheesesteak sandwich spot in the heart of downtown Sacramento on Kst. The two gentlemen staff were very informative and helpful when ordering, we were welcomed right away. There is a kiosk or cash register just ask for help if you need it. We notice the lunch special which incudes a large freshly made cheese steak, fries and a drink for $21 so we took advantage of this awesome deal. Food arrives fast and hot. Very tasty and satisfying, loved the sweet peppers and cheese. Fries were crispy, and fresh. And I loved that they have black cherry flavored soda! I'll be back again for lunch soon! read more

Sac has been lacking in the philly cheese steak game for awhile so it's a pleasure to have one here! The Philly was solid, I enjoyed the sandwich. I got the Classic cheese steak with onions, peppers, mushroom, jalapeno. Quality of beef is good. I would highly recommend getting extra cheese, I think that would have made it a 5 star sandwich if it had more cheesyness. Garlic fries were pretty good, they give a lot and there is a ton of garlic. Fries are steak cut style and are decently crispy. Friendly service. Went to The Philly before hitting the Wu Tang show at Golden 1. Maybe we had a beer beforehand. Maybe we had two. Either way, we needed something to fuel us up, keep us in the game, and satisfy our palates. One of the crew suggested this spot, so we all went in and ordered up some classics. First off - you get cheese options. Provolone (i.e. the correct choice)? Got it. Pepper jack, cuz you fancy now? Got it. Whiz because you're some sort of processed food heathen? They got you covered. There was another one too - white ... cheddar? American? The sandwiches were solid. Went with the classic, added mushrooms. We all thought this place was the closest to Jay's Cheesesteaks (SF, Divisadero, shout out) that we'd had in Sac. The crew was cool, friendly, and chatted with us about music while we grubbed. My only want? Another beer. If this place could get a license for that, it would be even better. But as is, it's pretty damn good. We'll be back. read more

After walking by this place so many times on the way to work, I finally decided to try it. My friend and i ordered the pizza Philly, the original and garlic fries to share. The original was good, but the pizza Philly was so really, really good. The portions were huge too, we weren't able to finish half of our sandwiches. The garlic fries were OK, crispy and fresh but not lacking flavor and seasoning. Isn't much service since you order at the cashier by the front door. Roberto is so nice and welcoming... He remembered me from over 5 months ago (the first time I came in). I was craving a cheeseburger which I saw on their menu online but didn't see it on the menu when I came in. I then saw they offered a $14 cheeseburger special that comes with fries and a 16 oz drink which was displayed at the cash register. I asked if there was any way to just get the burger and he gave it to me for $8...actually $7 because I work for Golden 1 Center. What a great deal! The cheeseburger was big and tasty. I really liked the bread they used and all the fixins - lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, Mayo, mustard, American cheese. It was ready pretty quick and he gave it to me in a to go container because he knew I was heading to work.
