I ordered the surf n turf Philly cheesesteak. It was $22 bucks i believe. And the whole drive home i was kinda mad at myself for spending that much on a sandwich. But when i got home and bit into it, i had no more regrets lol. They were generous with the meat and shrimp. Everything balanced beautifully. And it was very flavorful The vibes in the restaurant were pretty solid. It wasn't too crowded when i went in. The owner/manager(?) was personable and friendly. If you truly like it's known as a classic Philly cheesesteak stand stay away from this place. I ordered one through DoorDash and when it got delivered, it was obvious there was something like barbecue sauce on it. I didn't even see any cheese.. I called the store. They were very smug. Said they don't even have barbecue sauce. After being shut down by him on the phone I drove over there. They still said it's not barbecue sauce. . As I'm watching a guy make another one. He squirts this other sauce all over it and I said maybe I use the wrong name what's that?. The cook goes well that's our special Worcestershire type sauce. Then the manager came out and insisted again. They only put seasonings on there and I said what's he squirting on that sandwich right now he says that's our special steak sauce.. I pointed the menu doesn't say anything about a steak sauce and a classic Philly shouldn't have anything on there but salt and pepper. They very rely decided they could give me a refund but then after they made me wait 20 minutes, they admitted it wasn't gonna be so easy through DoorDash so they refunded me just for the sandwich not the other fee.. then after that, they hand me the money I've waited mostly a half an hour the guy finally says well can we make you another one? . The food overall was okay, the cheesesteak was too seasoned, almost felt like they used more than just salt and pepper, in my opinion I think a Cheesesteak only needs salt and pepper to enhance the flavor of the meat, the onion and cheese do the rest, no need for additional seasoning, that's what I got from this Cheesesteak, a lot of season, while it's not a bad thing, didn't give me cheesesteak vibes. The French fries looked good, but I made the mistake to pay the extra buck for onion rings- they use frozen - what a waste soggy doughy, oily and bland. Why don't they make these fresh? So cheep so easy & they have onions anyway- the to go container should be replaced with a tray so it doesn't steam them. So disappointed, I had expected so much. The thing about Philly cheesesteaks is their simplicity. You simply don't fuck with the magic. There's. no "special butter sauce;" the hot peppers are not chopped into the meat to give the whole sandwich a hot vinegar flavor. A Philly cheesesteak has browned meat in it.....not grey meat that boiled on an underheated grill like mine was from The Philly. Finally, the way this shop treats its rolls was horrible. A philly roll (technically on Amoroso brand) is never this hard to chew. The Philly's roll had an "impossible to chew" texture almost as if it had been pressed onto the grill like a Panini or something. And never, NEVER, would a Philly steak be drenched till its greasy in "Butter Sauce." There is no such thing in Philly, unless you used to go to Bookbinders for lobster tail. In fair disclosure, the shop owner? manager? pleaded with me to re-make the sandwich to my liking. But it was so far off, that there was no redeeming it.
