Had marked this as a want to try place. Not too far from the place I was at so made the trek. Well it's pretty much street parking so had to park a few blocks away. The girl at the register was helpful. I ordered a single burger and fries. They do not have combos. The place is small with a few tables to sit at. My complaint is tgat the the two customers ahead of me go their food brought to them but I had to go pick mine up. The person that ordered after me also go their food delivered. The burger was okay with a difference is being sunomono cucumbers so more on the sweet side. The onion rings were tempura style but batter was too thick for me.

Wow! Let's start over WOW! A friend recently told us about Gami Burger and last night we gave them a shot at the midtown location. Definitely, unassuming as you walk in though we were greeted by an enthusiastic staffer. The menu can be overwhelming so ask for suggestions. We settled on the Royal, a special burger with the works and an ahi tuna burger with special coleslaw and avocado smash. Both were delicious! For sides we went sweet potato fries and waffle fries. Both cooked and salted perfectly. The sweets were - yes- sweet and a bit spicy, and love the thin and crispy texture. Seriously dear readers this is the best burger place in Sacramento and I'd bet top ten in Cali. Enjoy!!

Gami was pretty hyped up in the sac food scene so I was excited to try it out with the new midtown location. Double cheeseburger: B Solid burger, the patties are thin almost like a smashburger thickness so I'd recommend a triple. I believe you can customize the sauce too so I tried their house sauce but thought their wasabi aioli is better. Curly fries: A Fantastic curly fries, very crisp and very well seasoned. Tastes great even without any dipping sauce. Wasabi aioli: A+ I'm in love with this sauce and it works perfectly as a dip for fries and as a sauce on the burger. Highly recommend trying this one out!

Loved checking out their original location and I was so excited to have one closer to me in Midtown. We stopped by while exploring Midtown on a Saturday afternoon and since we had our dog with us I grabbed a table outside while my husband popped in to order. I had been telling him about this spot and was so excited for him to give it a try. Originally we were going to share a burger and keep walking around, but when he saw the menu he decided we were each getting a full sandwich. He ordered us the Single Gami Burger and the Pastrami Sandwich and we shared both. At first he was wary of the house made pickles because he prefers dill and doesn't like sweet pickles but their house made pickles won him over, especially on the sandwiches. Both sandwiches were delicious, but we loved the pastrami sandwich and would maybe even try a burger patty with pastrami on top on a future visit. Their house sauce is also very good. On top of burgers they also offer hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, an Ahi Tuna sandwich, kid friendly items, salads and sides. The location at K and 23 is great and inside is modern and welcoming. There are some tables outside as well. I'm sure we'll be back again soon.

First time here and already planning a return trip. We stopped in on a Thursday night around 7 p.m. before a Kings game, and it was a bit busy. The space itself is pretty small with limited seating, but there are a few bar-style seats and some extra chairs available that we figured we could grab if needed. Luckily, the timing worked in our favor and a table opened up just as we were got our food. Ordering can done through tablets, but since it was our first visit and we had plenty of questions about the menu, it was nice that there was still a counter option. The cashiers were super courteous and helpful while we asked about everything, which added to our experience. I ordered a single cheeseburger with onions and mayo and added NY cheddar, although I'm pretty sure the American cheese that normally comes on it was missed. Even with that small mix-up, the burger and the waffle fries were both fantastic and packed with flavor. We also grabbed a side of the wasabi sauce for the fries and holy moly... I did not expect it to be as good as it was, but it was seriously delicious and something we'll absolutely order again next time. I also tried to get the butter brickle milkshake, which sounded incredible, but unfortunately they were out that night. Definitely putting that at the top of the list for the next visit. This place is high on the list for best burgers!

Couldn't be happier that there's a location in midtown now. The burgers and fries are fresh and made with quality ingredients. I love that all of the fries have different seasonings so you can mix it up. The new location is smaller than the fair oaks one but it is clean, modern, and easy to order. The employees are kind and will check on you even though it's order at the counter and self service. Honestly nothing on this menu is a miss. All the items are unique in their own way.

I've been to the original Gami Burger location before so I was excited to hear that they opened one up closer to me. This part of K street is pretty busy but it's a great location since it's close to the Golden Bear and the beer garden. I believe it used to be a Burger Patch before. I came here on a Thursday night and it was relatively busy but the tables open up pretty quickly. It's definitely smaller than their Arden location. You can order at the counter or at the kiosks (there's two). Pros: our food came out quickly after ordering. I ordered a double patty burger with a fried egg, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Waffle fries were good. Food is on the pricier side. Cons: parking can be hard to find since it is located downtown.

Solid smash burger with some of the best waffle fries. Yum! Plenty of seating inside and outside. Service was great and the food came out quick. Dr pep bottle was a rare bonus! Check em out!

Single burger, add cheese, tomato, and lettuce with a side of sweet potato fries

Not your basic burger and fries!! The burger alone comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and sauce but you do have to pay for any extra toppings such as onions, cheese, avocado, and there's even an option for a fried egg. The sweet potato fries were seasoned to a perfect salty/sweet combo. The onion rings were delicious alone but even more so when added into the burger. The portions for the sides were generous, especially for only being around $5 each. The salads seemed like a popular choice and looked enormous and refreshing. I will be back for one and a chicken sandwich! I would love to see a vegan or even vegetarian burger option to honor the beloved Burger Patch that used to stand here!

    Chicago Dog and Gami Burger!

I killed two birds with one stone with my trip to Gami Burger- trying this place I had heard about for the past few months, and finding out what happened to the space left behind by the beloved Burger Patch. Gami Burger has kind of a fast food look to it at the counter when you order, but the food and dining area give fast-casual vibes- I'm a fan. The Burger was good and I ate nearly all of it but got full and saved the rest for a possible tipsy snack tonight. I also ordered the Chicago dog so I could try a few things in one trip. I'm gonna save that for dinner but it looked great, with the toppings neatly arranged over the dog. The only thing I was confused about was the addition of mayo, which is not listed in the ingredients on the menu. I'm not a mayo fan and didn't see it until I got home; if guests order this, they might want to double-check on the mayo if they're not a fan. The price keeps Gami from being a 5-star place for me- the Burger was $9 and the dog was $14, which seemed hefty to me but I do recognize that they're in a prime piece of real estate and I haven't ordered a hot dog in midtown/downtown in a while, so maybe this is a competitive price. They have some sides including fries and onion rings, and I'll have to try a milk shake and a chicken sando next time; both sound delicious : ) I'm looking forward to trying their other location as well, since it's in my neighborhood. One of the bonuses of the midtown location is that, like Burger Patch, they're open late for late night fuel. Cheers!

Western and Gami burger, an ahi tuna sandwich with curly fries

Just another burger place or something different? A lot of discussion surrounding this Gami Burger and their other location is whether their burgers are worth the heavier price tag. And now after having tried them, I can happily report back that they are just at the cusp of being overpriced, but ultimately fall within an acceptable value range. I think the main standalone feature of their burgers is the thickness of the beef patty. Think Five Guys in terms of the beefiness. Come to think of it, their prices are quite similar too but I would definitely consider going to Gami before Five Guys. The Gami and Western burgers we ordered weren't anything special though. Obviously, they want you to know about their special pickles but they were only OK in what was a pretty decent but average package. I'd like to see them get more creative with their burger selection. Perhaps including a secret "house sauce" to spice things up? Or perhaps not since that's sort of been played out at this point in the burger space. The ambiance and location was a standout though. Part of what you're paying for is eating in the slick space they've created with a comfy interior and ample outdoor seating near the heart of Midtown Sac. Parking is the typical Midtown street parking affair but unless I was in the area, not sure I'd actively seek out their burgers again.

Have been meaning to check this out since my friend told me they liked Carmichael site. Knowing its sister of "Ori-gami" Grill in E Sac, another favorite, sealed the deal. At $9, its tad higher than some of competitors at the under $10 pricepoint, it was a GREAT burger! Starting with buttery Brioche Bun, that holds up well. Hate the buns that fall apart or get smooshed. Their Gami Sauce is 1000 Island-ish), but has little kick. Not usually a fan of American Cheese, but you could pay $1 for other cheeses. There was a size able portion of crisp iceberg lettuce & two sliced tomatoes. True to Japanese influence, their sweet Sunomono Pickles were tasty-- but I wished there were more on burger. The meat was well seasoned & not overcooked even tho it is a thin burger (maybe 1/4 lb??). Some might feel too small, but just right for this light eater. You can add more patties. Tasty herbed waffle fries held up well-- delicious! Interior space is not too crowded-- nice mid-century vibe. You order right as you enter-- so not confusing. Staff were lovely-- attentive & friendly. Parking a bit of challenge

We did have to flag down another server a few times for quick questions, but it wasn't a big deal since we weren't in a rush. We started with their happy hour Justin Cabernet, which was flavorful and a great way to kick things off. For appetizers, we ordered the tuna poke nachos (with rice instead and no sauce), the giant pretzel, and the sweet and spicy shrimp--grilled instead of breaded to keep it gluten-free, which we really appreciated. It's been years since I've been, mainly because of the long wait times and no reservations on weekends. As a planner, I gravitate toward places where I can make a reservation. However, it was a special occasion, so we committed to it on a holiday weekend. The wait was estimated at 1.5 hours for a party of 7, but it ended up being closer to 40 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad at all. The patio and waiting area are gorgeous and make the wait worth it on a beautiful day. Great shade from the trees, solid service, and a really nice ambiance overall. The menu is massive with a little bit of everything and huge portions, so it's quite hard to decide. I settled on the Madame Cristo because it sounded decadent and somewhere between lunch and breakfast, which felt perfect for brunch. And decadent it was. The cheesy ham and béchamel blended into this super rich, fatty bite balanced by the French toast it was sandwiched between. The eggs on top were almost overkill, but still a welcome addition for some protein. The chipotle raspberry jam was surprisingly good too, almost like a smoky raspberry salsa that added sweetness and helped cut through some of the richness. The potatoes were standard and nothing to write home about. It was definitely a lot, but pretty good and exactly what you expect from a brunch spot like this. I'm not going to say the food is mind-blowing, but it's solid and they have unique dishes, great vibes, and something for everyone to enjoy. Nice to see that Tower Cafe is still doing well after all these years and remains a great place to celebrate special occasions.

This is a funny place for me as I've been here more than a few times, yet I don't have a favorite beer or food item but not because I don't like the food or the beer but because the more things I try the more things I had to my favorites list at this incredible brewery. This particular visit was on a Tuesday and they have a great pint beer special on Mondays and Tuesdays with $5 select pints all day. On this day we decided to go with Weird is the new Normal-a West Coast IPA($5.00) & a Luna De Miel-a Mexican Amber($5.00). Both beers were very refreshing and went down super easy and I've added both to my "will order again " list. For food I ended up ordering Brisket Tacos ($14.00) off the appetizer list and a Pulled Pork Sandwich($17.00) off the sandwich list. I upgraded my fries to Garlic Fries for an additional fee-I think $1 but not sure as I was being treated that day. This is the kid of place where u walk up to counter and place an order for your beer and food then they give u a number and will bring your grub out to ya at whatever table u can find. They have both indoor and outside seating-I prefer outside seating this time of year. Food was delivered very fast-in under 10 minutes. Brisket Tacos were super simple but still wonderful -really soft tortilla with a nice chew and flavor topped with their famous juicy tender perfectly flavored brisket with onions and cilantro as a topper-they are excellent because of the quality of the brisket. 8.8/10 Pulled Pork Sandwich was the item that stood out that day-pulled pork was smoked perfectly and smothered with a perfect amount of their BBQ sauce and one of their famous onion rings is in the sandwich also topped with BBQ sauce. The bun they use was so soft and meshed perfectly with the soft tasty bite of the pulled pork. 9.4/10 I really do love all of my visits to Urban Roots as every visit has been positive-I've recommended this place to many of my friends who visit from out of town for a high quality yet casual dining experience & if that isn't enough of a recommendation, the day I visited was my actual birthday and this was the place I choose to celebrate-I love this place that much.
