I haven't been here in forever... and by forever I mean a decade. Distance is probably the biggest factor as it's 20 miles from where I currently live... However I digress. My brother came into town last night for Thanksgiving and we rolled the pizza dice and ended up going to Lago Mar Pizza. We were greeted immediately when we talked in the door and the young lady behind the counter brought us menus, took our drink order and ended up also being my server. The establishment was at about 1/3 capacity as well which isn't bad for a Tuesday night. We ordered some fried cheese sticks and a 16" pie with pepperoni and onions. The app promptly arrived at the table right after our drinks and the pizza arrived about 10-12 minutes after the app. I found the cheese sticks to be nothing special, however the pizza was on point. It didn't quite taste the same as I remember it, however it's been 10 years and recipes / ingredients are bound to change. It's not a complaint at all, it was just slightly different. I want to point out the dough was very fresh and the sauce was good to. I think it's the sauce that was different actually now that I'm thinking about it. Long story short, the only evidence of this pizza ever existing are the photos attached to this review. It's gone! We ordered ahead for delivery two hours later and it was pretty much on time - super warm and fresh and very very good. We chose a loaded specialty pizza that came with everything and made our own white pizza with ricotta, mozzarella, basil and sausage. I loved the crust - it's thick and delicious. The wings were perfect size, not fatty, and cooked and crisped to perfection. I am not sure how or what they do, but they taste like they are rubbed with seasoning and then sauced. Given a number of reviews about non/late delivery of orders, I called a couple days ahead to get the down-low on the best timing for an order of 6 pies and the best way to order. I was told that calling a day ahead for an order of this size to be delivered on a Saturday during June/July/August would be best. I was also told that the app charges more in fees than calling in an order to the pizza parlor. Our order was delivered within the 15 minute before/after window, the pies were still hot, and the order was correct. Being from Upstate NY, its hard to find good pizza outside of the Northeast, but Lago Mar's pizza was really good!! They used quality meat and veggie toppings, they were plentiful on the pies, and had just the right amount of sauce and cheese. The only complaint from some of our party was that the crust was on the thick and doughy side. I think if the pies were cooked for just a couple of minutes longer, we wouldn't have experienced that. I would definitely order from Lago Mar -- just do it early and on the phone! read more

I love Lago Mar Pizza so much! Their ranch is homemade and to die for. It is unmatched if you order their fries with a side of ranch. HEAVENLY. The waitresses are the best, so kind and helpful. This place is family owned and the owner is a huge fan of soccer and has signed jerseys all along the wall. Another thing I would recommend are the gyros, they are so so good. Love this place! One more thing- There is a customer named Kevin that has been ordering the same pizza every Friday for around 14 years. Every week the owners draw cute drawings on the pizza box that they designate to go to Kevin each Friday. Ten strikes and you're out. We are a local Pungo family and have tried to keep business in our community. Unfortunately like Pungo Pizza, we have to cut Lago Mar off too. We are 12 miles from the store and have always gotten the "about an hour" delivery estimate. Tonight was the last straw. Our order took an hour and fifty minutes and our food was cold. It's unfortunate that with more and more competition that businesses don't step up their game to keep the customers they have. Lago Mar use to be the only game in town for delivery but now Shore Break delivers well past monks in less than 45 minutes plus's all of the apps that deliver. read more

I plug the zip code into Yelp. It gives me a nearby pizza place for which the last 2 reviewers have given it 5 stars. As previous reviewers have noted, based on location, you'd probably pass it by. I mean, it's co-located with a Citgo station! Darling wife is used to my "Yelp expeditions" by now so we give it a whirl. Sure enough, there's a young lady with dark hair who greets us and who has taken eight years of martial arts classes. Georgina is a delightful server with an engaging personality. She is currently sporting a black eye, and threatens us with one if we stiff her on the tip. Picture posted here. Use Calamata olives (instead of black ones) and real Greek salad dressing (instead of Italian) on the Greek salad which had ample tidbits of Feta.
