I have been waiting for this place to open up for months since I first saw the sign go up. Pizza Press is a pretty popular joint in California, and it's cool to see they're expanding to Texas. It's a build your own pizza style similar to Blaze or Mods. The toppings are great and the crust had a nice crunch. In my opinion, the crust holds up better and is more crispier than Mods. However, I think Mods has a better selection of toppings. Also they don't use a wood burning oven to cook the pies. Try it with some arugula and balsamic glaze on top! You won't regret it. The interior has a vintage feel and there's a nice patio out back. Parking is scared though, so you might want to walk here. My pizza was free because it was actually their grand opening!! They were also donating proceeds to the tragic event that happened at UT which was nice of them. Overall, finally a decent pizza joint to grab lunch near campus. read more

I'm not too fan of pizza (or burgers), but I do love DIY Pizza restaurants because it tastes more fresh and (way) less oily. I went to The Pizza Press handful times and I enjoyed during all of my visits. Since it's DIY, I've been trying in different combinations... //FOOD Variety of options from base to sauce. I really like how quick for pizza to be ready it is and how fresh the meat and vegetables taste. I added chopped garlic and I really enjoyed how fresh it was even though my breath smelled like garlic. I always add PESTO at the very end, which adds very mouth-popping flavor on top of the pizza. //ATMOSPHERE Indoor looks very high quality and upscale. There are many sitting areas inside from 2 people to 6?8? people tables. One thing is that there is a vent that always leaks condensed water to the ground; so, they should fix that. Pizza press is right down the street from where my UT classes, so i went again recently. You know those orange books they always pass out for free with all those coupons? The workers and staff were so friendly and nice, and gave us their most popular menu, but said their make your own was probably the best choice. pizza press make your own has UNLIMITED TOPPINGS. So many times i usually just get cheese or pepperoni because its the cheapest, but i could add as many toppings as I wanted. I basically got the sun but added more vegetables and took out things i dont eat, for the same price! "Chipotle" style ordering which is nice because you can see exactly what's going into it and it doesn't take long. Because it's so quick to order, it's thin crust only. Ingredients seemed fresh and selection abundant. Even better is that you can have a beer with it. We had vegetables only on our pizza. Wasn't greasy, hot and light. One could definitely eat a personal pizza with no guilt. It's definitely designed for students. If you're living on campus this is a good in and out option for you. If you're all grown up and just trying to get some pizza, it'll be a bit of a hassle to find parking. For this reason, if I have to get you and drive I'd drive somewhere like Aviator where there's a bit more time for the crust and toppings are creative. I really enjoyed the food at The Pizza Press. If I could, I'd give this place 3.5 stars. I chose to build my own pizza. The amount and quality of toppings were amazing- there are at least 8 different kinds of cheeses to choose from, and the pepperoni and sausage on my pizza were large in size and generously put on. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the service was slow, perhaps it was difficult to yell over the glass that divided the workers from customers. The glass is thick and a good few inches taller than me, and I'm not that short . Some interior designer messed up there. The glass caused some errors and plenty of miscommunication. Regardless, service was slow and it wasn't that busy. I will come here again for the food since it was good and close to campus. I might come here more often if I didn't have to yell to be heard. Good quality ingredients combined with a great value/unlimited toppings make for a delicious and satisfying product. I love the pink sauce and spicy sauce as a base, classic mozzarella and creamy ricotta on top, and any (or all) of the meats. My favorite vegetables would be the artichoke hearts, mushroom, and raw arugula! Basil pesto is definitely my go to as well. Honestly I love how the food is cooked right in front of you and it just makes you want it more while you're waiting in line. A single pizza could last you two meals if you have enough self control not to scarf it down. For ~$10 per personal pizza that's a pretty good deal. The Pizza Press is a hipster, slightly more expensive version of Mod Pizza. I really like how they carried their "newspaper print" theme throughout the restaurant from the ordering process, to the decor, and even the trashcan! They have a good variety of sauces (pink sauce is a mixture of red and white sauce), and toppings (wild arugula!) and last minute additions (rosemary!). They also serve ice cream and "seasonal dessert cups." (?) Ordering process leaves a little more to be desired however. The glass is so tall, it makes it difficult to communicate what you want. You're practically yelling at them. I don't quite remember how it was at at Mod but it was way easier. Second, the menu is SO far back that it's really a strain to read. The menu brochures are located at the cash register when they really should be at the front of the ordering line so people can look at the menu while waiting. All in all, I think Pizza Press filled a need in West Campus for personal, create-your-own pizzas. The crust is thinner than Mod's too, which some may prefer. This pizza is so affordable and SO tasty! My boyfriend and I knew we had to try it when we saw its grand opening. The location is perfect for students- really close to UT and in West Campus. Pizza Press is an awesome concept and similar to MOD pizza. They have a very wide variety of toppings and also offer vegan/ gluten-free options. Pizza was average for what you pay, however, the beer flight was awesome! The employees making my pizza were not knowledgeable on which toppings and crusts were vegan and I received a gluten-free crust instead... additionally, employees didn't give generous amount of each topping so there was a lot of, "Can I have some more of.... Ok just a little more please." Pizza turned out OK and I was turned off by the gluten-free crust, so I told the manager and she was kind enough to compensate by making me another pizza! Very high level of professionalism if you're unhappy with any part of your meal. I'd come back to give Pizza Press another try! You could go as crazy as you want I guess, but in pizza building, often times less is more, so you can appreciate the individual flavors of each item. On the opposite extreme is sadness when I see people only get like a pure pepperoni pizza though... They have an app too for a reward system and free garlic bread on first use. I really liked all of their topping choices and I finished it off with a pesto swirl. Oh! But I got sun dried tomatoes on my pizza and for some reason they all burned, like no other topping burned but all my sundries tomatoes were black so I sadly picked them all off. Food [4/5] - I like make-your-own-pizza places because of the sheer quantity of ingredients available, and Pizza Press doesn't disappoint. There are a plethora of options, and the final product is a pretty darn tasty pizza. Service [4/5] - The staff is nice and works hard to make your pizza well. The service chokepoint is at the pizza oven, which takes several minutes to cook your pizza once all your ingredients are on it. It's not a huge deal, but when you're the only one in line, it seems like an eternity. Value [4/5] - It's like $9-10 for a pizza. Hands down best pizza for the price in Austin. You can get as many toppings as you want and it's the same price so load up. It is best paired with an ice cold loko which they do not have on tap unfortunately. They do have lots of beer thought just no lokos. Late night pizza option (open until 1 AM!) that doesn't involve delivery from one of the usual chains? Sounds good to me. Short version? It's one of the better options out there for pizza, especially late night, but there are a few areas they need to work on. The concept is simple. They will custom make a pizza with any toppings or seasonings you want right in front of you and bake it quickly. As an added bonus, when you "print your own" (their term for making your own pizza), the price is all inclusive for as many toppings as you'd like. The pizzas come out quickly. The service is beyond friendly. And the pizza is pretty good. And their garlic cheese bread (garlic, olive oil, and cheese on their pizza crust) is good enough to make a meal of its own. So, you ask me, "why not five stars?" There's a couple of things, albeit mostly minor, that hold them back from five star perfection. First, at least for me, the pizza needed a bit more sauce and/or better distribution of the sauce. I may ask for extra sauce next time. Next, I skipped adding any meats to my pizza, which is unusual for me considering my virtual carnivore status. The meat selection looked like a sad deli counter, especially in comparison to the plethora of other options for the pizza. I'd have enjoyed seeing some better pepperoni or grilled chicken available as opposed to the sad grocery store deli display that I saw. Finally, iced tea is always something I pay attention to. But the iced tea wasn't even an option for me without the availability of sweeteners and/or lemons or limes for the tea. The good news is that their soft drink mixes are on point. All in all, it's good. It's very good. And for a late night option, it's even better. read more

I also got pretty lucky because the guy that took my order was also a fan of BBQ pizza so he knew exactly what to do. Their build-your-own pizzas are less than $9 and you can add unlimited amount of sauce, veggies, and MEAT!! Interior/ exterior and service of this place was also very satisfying. It might be because it's pretty new, but the place was very modern & clean which made my experience even better!
