I love this place! All the food was perfect and tasted amazing. The pork melted in your mouth and no knife needed to cut it. Homestyle mashed potatoes and gravy was so so good. Whenever we visit Boulder, this is a must for us. This was our first visit to the Boulder location and it is just as amazing. Best fried chicken ever (and gluten free), not to mention the sides (highly recommend the mashed potatoes with gravy) and biscuits. Make sure you try the whoopie pie! While the overall design and atmosphere is nice, we did not care for this bar. We sat at the bar- the two bartenders were not very friendly or accommodating... no "Welcome, have you been here before? Any questions about our beers?" Took several minutes to be greeted and then another several minutes to come back and take our order. The gentlemen next to us finished a plate of chicken wings and the bartender left them there the entire 30 min we were at the bar. Problem was we were seated at the corner so it was in front of my husband the whole time. We only had a beer as the food looked greasy and boring. The seating is also awkward at the bar as the chairs are so close together it's hard to get in and out. We tasted two beers, we'd rate them a 6/10. My friends and I came to Post Brewing tonight for Harry Potter trivia. Their website said you didn't require a reservation, so we showed up 2 hours early to get a table and were told you did in fact need a reservation. We pointed out the inconsistency. Post staff got us a table, kept the drinks flowing, and comped our entire tab. Thank you Dana, Matt, and our server whose name I don't remember. Stopped in here for lunch after hiking. I was excited to try the "Nashville hot" chicken and ordered the half chicken, along with the mashed potatoes and the green Chile macaroni and cheese. The food was just ok, and the hot chicken wasn't really flavorful or hot. Additionally, it was probably just an off day for her but our server was extremely slow and we waited about 15 minutes for drinks and then about 30 minutes after we had completely finished eating for her to notice us and give us our bill. Overall it took us almost two hours to just have lunch so that wasn't a great experience. I probably wouldn't eat here again. read more

Came here for lunch and had a great experience. Our waiter, Adrian, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Ordered a flight and had some cocktails and the pulled pork sandwich. It was delicious. I was excited to hear that Post Brewing was opening a location at Pearl Street in Boulder. I had never been, but was told they had good beer. So my husband and I went specifically for happy hour on a Saturday. I was a bit surprised on HOW they advertise happy hour, which is every day of the week - with a catch. First of all, the only beer on HH is a bucket (mix & match 5 cans) or the "Howdy" pitcher. That's it - no draft beers. I was totally bummed as I enjoy beer on draft, after all, it's Boulder. If I wanted cans, I could stop at any liquor store. Second, the food is NOT on HH on weekends, only M-F. So of course, you're stuck with regular menu prices, which are expensive. After all, HH is all about saving a few bucks. We didn't end up eating because we each ordered a draft beer, which already came to $12. Had we ate one of the least priced items -a sandwich- it would've brought our food total to around $25. Total bill for one beer each and a sandwich each (with tax) to around $40, and that doesn't include tip! Not much of a happy hour. And honestly, their HH menu that's available during the week is not very good. It's primarily a biscuit of some sort. In comparison, for example, you can get 2 slices of pizza for $4 at Oskar Blues, and their HH beers are $3 each on draft. Boulder Beer Co. offers a draft beer and a burger for $10. So, if you don't mind Post prices, then I think you will enjoy the place. On the positive, the atmosphere was pretty nice and so was our waitress, and their stout on draft was good. Overall, I wasn't impressed and don't think we will be returning. read more

Fantastic fried chicken, fried cheese curds were great too! Sides were just okay, but I'm from the south so maybe my standards were too high. My only complaint was that they don't serve sweet tea. If you're serving southern cuisine, sweet tea is a must. read more

Ya know, the fried chicken is pretty good (gf, which is cool). The problem I have with this place is the staff completely ignore my friends and I every time we walk in. We've gone a few times more than an hour before they close and no one will even talk to us! Even when we are seated by someone, no one seems to know their sections enough to serve us? One time they even told us the kitchen was closed and when the sign on the door said they closed over an hour later! They used to have a great cava/sparkling list but no one who worked there ever knew anything about the options....even after I ordered what I wanted, I was poured the wrong wine. Definitely on the pricey side from my last experience but makes up everywhere else. Pretty good service with good food and drink recommendations. Most the food had a slightly over salted flavor. Nothing bad but noticeable. I'm sure it was more of a slight slip up than their norm because a precious time I went, it was perfect. Very good casual dining in a comfortable atmosphere. My friend and I dined here based on an episode of Dinners, Drive Ins and Dives. Some of the best fried chicken I've ever tasted. Super crispy, flavorful and the meat was juicy; not greasy, but juicy. I had the "Nashville hot" version and my friend had the regular variety. Both were excellent. Service was attentive, but casual. In summary, I will go get busy and the kit may look full, but there is ample on street parking and the restaurant seats a lot of guest. read more

For a restaurant that touts fried chicken and soul food, this was everything but it. As someone from Louisiana, I know soul food and fried chicken more than your average Boulderite. The only sauces they have to offer are barbecue, ranch, hot sauce. A restaurant like this should offer multiple barbecue sauces and aioli. I ordered the chicken sandwich. The chicken looks as though it had been frozen, it was definitely not crispy and fresh. They gave mayo for the sauce on the sandwich. The least this restaurant could do is make a simple sauce to elevate the sandwich. The pickles were bland and worse than the pickles they served at my elementary school lunch. The coleslaw had broccoli in it and that's inappropriate and doesn't stay true to a barbecue slaw. The only thing that made my meal taste good was what I took from my own fridge to add on it. Disappointed. This is not anything that barbecue, fried chicken, or soul food is. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

Without hyperbole, I can say that the waffle with the Chicken and waffle entree was the best I've had in my life. I don't know how they did it, but the texture is absolutely perfect and the flavored butter and maple syrup soak into it just right without compromising said texture. They make some delicious beers as well, and everything is served in large portions with lots of flavor. I've been there three times now and had a beer appetizer and entree each time along with my company and I haven't tasted a single thing I was disappointed in. A little pricier than you might expect from the type of food, but the stellar quality, excellent flavors, and huge portions more than make up for it in my opinion. read more

The food was excellent. Those cheddar biscuits... nom nom. The service was good. But I'm taking off two stars for the music. That seems harsh, but they were totally blaring really bad music. I had to yell to talk. And then there was just some weirdness going on with some uber bass that shook my seat but wasn't from the song they were playing (maybe they have a rock music venue in the basement?). It really ruined the dinner experience and left me feeling stressed out and irritated. I probably won't come back again because they music was just too damn loud. It's a dinner, not a late night bar. Smaller than the other locations with all the flavor. If you're with a group get the family deal and if you like spice get it Nashville hot. My family moved to Boulder in Jan 2020 and then Covid hit. One of the few places we have been ordering food from (we feel like they are taking all precautions) is The Post. We love their oven roast chicken and have been ordering the family pack almost once a week. The Post has been so wonderful in expressing their thanks for our patronage and the staff works so hard. The other night we were celebrating my husband's birthday so I placed an order over the phone the night before. I asked for a few changes from what was on the menu and the woman taking the order said it was not a problem. Fast forward to us bringing our very large order home and the changes had not been made. I called and explained and not only were they apologetic, they made the roast chicken AND delivered it within 20 minutes, and this restaurant does not do delivery. I am super thankful that I didn't need to go out again and pick up more food and miss part of the festivities. The customer service, food and beer at The Post is amazing. We will continue to support them and hope they weather this Covid storm. read more

I've visited the post two weeks ago, One of my friends recommended it. I liked the ambience, It had great atmosphere, and there was even a live jazz band in the back room. The presentation was great for the food, and honestly you could still talk amongst your friends even though it was a small place. It's seem to be very busy, but the food was good. My husband and I went to Easter brunch at The Post last weekend after seeing them on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. We decided on the fried chicken, the chicken chicharrones, deli slaw and cocktails. The "house" Bloody Mary was delicious, the deli slaw.. amazing, and the chicharrones very yummy! What I thought was to be the highlight of the meal, the Half Bird fried chicken was very disappointing. The chicken was served and my husband and I thought it looked very dark in color. Crispy was an understatement of the four pieces and we couldn't even eat the leg and wing because they were so overcooked. The chicken was only juicy in the center of the breast and you had to cut the skin with a knife and fork to get through it. I had heard such great things about the chicken and the flavor and we really missed out. Maybe it was an isolated bad batch of overcooked chicken. We notified the staff about our findings but it appeared not to matter to them. On a better note, Zoey or Zoe, our server was awesome! Had it not been for her friendly and fast service and the Bloody Mary, I would have considered this a very disappointing lunch. Maybe we'll try the Longmont location to see if it's better there. read more

So I made a reservation last Saturday night at The Post but turns out I made it for another location. The staff in Boulder could not have been more helpful -- they got my party seated (at a booth! Perfect for us because of mobility issues so a high-top table would have been problematic). Plus, they went out of their way to NOT make me feel like an idiot. We had great service -- our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. One guest wanted coffee and he had to brew a pot but was gracious about (unlike some Boulder restaurants where the waitstaff act as though they are doing YOU a big favor by taking your order). And the food is great -- one of our party said it was Top 3 mashed potatoes of all time. When we were leaving, we met Assistant General Manager Shawna Talbot who was genuinely interested in our experience at The Post. I will definitely visit again (this time making the reservation at the right location). It's a fun place to take out-of-town guests and in-town ones, too.
