We went here for Mother's Day and the place was hopping. I had requested a table "in the shade" and it was interpreted as "indoor". When I asked to be outside the receptionist said, I was abruptly told it was impossible because others had specifically requested to be outdoors. Whatever. It was fine indoors. But I was a bit disappointed since the weather was beautiful and indoors was quite dark. The food was average. My son had the post breakfast of eggs, meat and potatoes. The plate (wish I had taken a photo) was "sad" looking. Not a pretty plate. Small serving of dry eggs and just something I could've done at home. Hubby had the fried chicken sandwich which he said was tasty. I had the chicken and waffles which were quite tasty and worth the crazy calories. Both plates again were plain with no garnish or anything to elevate the presentation. Would I go back? Sure. If I'm in the area I'd probably return. Solid food, decent service. The Post is definitely one of my go-to's in Los Altos! The wait times can get hefty during dinner time so be prepared. They had a really nice outdoor seating layout during the summertime but I'm not sure what it's like right now. Food: - BBQ Ribs ($26): Really delicious! You won't be sorry ordering this. - Brussel Sprouts ($10): I love Brussel sprouts so I had high expectations for this one. Unfortunately this was a flop :( it was crispy to the point of burnt, we barely touched this. - Buffalo Cauliflower ($11): Yum! A really great appetizer. - Mac and Cheese ($11): So creamy and rich! I completely adore this restaurant. The first time I tried it out on New Year's Eve 2021 with friends. I ordered the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer, which were quite tasty and the Peppercorn Ribeye with asparagus - oh my gosh, so amazing! The ambiance here is terrific - it's beautiful inside and decorated tastefully. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, despite it seeming kind of fancy. For brunch today, I went with the same friends and had the corned beef hash, with a substitution of fresh berries instead of toast. This dish, with 2 perfectly poached eggs totally hit the spot! I was so impressed, I snapped a picture of them right when they were placed on the table AND mid-nosh . Those beautiful eggs oozed yummy goodness into the hash. Despite having so much protein already, I had a side of crispy bacon as well. Jenny and her "sidekick" Fran were absolutely wonderful. (Our waitress and her trainee) They were friendly and attentive and conversed with us just the right amount - not so much that we felt smothered, but not so little that we felt ignored. As I sit on my toilet eating tums I write this review. The steak has way too much gristle and was not edible. I told the server and she basically took my plate away and didn't say a word. The staff knew I was not happy with the food and they did a quick "here's your check, have a good night" and ran away. Not classy "The Post"... It's always packed here when I walk by, and we finally got around to trying it on a warm evening. Reservations are available via open table (we got one the same day). They have indoor seating but also a nice big outdoor setup, and we were there on a Saturday night, so there was also live music from Bari Bistro across the street. Food: - Buffalo cauliflower: battered and fried with 3 dipping sauces - Chicken risotto: half chicken (grilled), mushroom risotto, and arugula. The risotto was a good texture and had lots of mushrooms - Fish and chips: good flavor on the fish, and fries were great. It comes with tartar sauce but also traditional malt vinegar Service was friendly, and they checked in to see when we wanted them to start the mains, which was nice (that way we got all the fried foods at a good pace). The avocado toast tasted good but $22 for single piece? Waaay too over priced. This is a $$$ restaurant not $$. The smoke salmon Benedict tasted fine but the bread wasn't toasted very well. Again over priced for the portion ($21), overall small plate specifically not enough salmon. Our friend was still hungry leaving this place. The burrito tasted fine, it was nice that they toasted it after. But $17, again too experience for a breakfast burrito. And it wasn't even a generous portion. Would have liked some salsa on the side. A cup of black coffee was $6. Waaay over priced. Also no option for a latte or cappuccino. If you're open for brunch, please consider adding espresso drinks. We ended up going next door to get proper coffee & some pastry as we needed our caffeine and we're all still kind of hungry! Instead of over-charging customers for small portion average food, offer good food at a good price so we come back and bring friends to support! Very disappointing experience. Wait staff was extremely friendly and attentive but the food & drinks were over priced and not very good. The postloma cocktail tasted like pink lemonade. Couldn't taste any alcohol at all, not in a good way. In a sugary way. The bbq pork quinoa bowl was also overly sweet and saucy. The pork was super fatty. My husbands risotto tasted like something you'd get from a microwaved package of uncle bens. Draft Beers were also $9. The black bean empanadas were the only thing that tasted good. So at least I know where the famed Chef Charlie Ayers has turned up. Charlie is known for being the chef for the Grateful Dead, the first chef at Google and his restaurant Calafia which I believe he had for 12 years. Wondered in to The Post today for brunch, and damn what a nice surprise to see Charlie's cookbook at the bar. What I liked the most was there are dishes for everyone. Omnivores to Vegans. And you can tell the quality is outstanding. Had the impossible burger, and they dial it in. So much so that it was impossible to tell it apart from the real deal. The Avocado Toast was excellent. Really like the contrast that radish and daikon sprouts bring to the dish. The Dessert, see picture, was spot on. I was excited to try the Post based on the reviews and ended up having quite a disappointing experience. I was there late on Friday afternoon and it was empty. There is a dining area and I settled in the separate bar area which had some big screen TVs. Everything was meh. I am pretty sure our waitress was high, she seemed out of it. The mojito that I ordered came in the same glass that my friend's vodka soda came in. It was super watered down. The brussel sprouts were too big and undercooked, the lettuce wrap was dry and the shishito peppers did not taste that good. So yeah...not a great experience. read more

I'd rather eat at terminal 3 of the West Virginia airport than this place. A DMV employee will show you more hospitality than the employees at this restaurant. The "Korean Fried Chicken tacos" were like a horrible joke. They need to take that off the menu immediately. Myself and 3 others arrived at about 1:30pm. We had reservations. We were seated in the back room away from the main restaurant. Let's talk about the food first: I ordered the Corned Beef Hash with 2 eggs. What I received was a plate filled with Tator tots and four .75" chunks of hard/dry corned beef. In my attempt to salvage the plate of meat chucks and tots I asked for catsup and Tabasco sauce. The waitress came back with a squirt-bottle of catsup and a squirt-bottle of yellow mustard. I again asked for Tabasco sauce, but they couldn't find any but instead returned with a Cholula pepper sauce and a Sriracha sauce (the server had to find a supervisor) to help look. Finally, in their defense I will say that the 2 sunny-side-up eggs were properly cooked. Service: The original table we were seated at was not level and rocked every time a hand or elbow caused it to dip from side-to-side. The next table was better but still rocked. Ambiance: The ambiance was lost on the fact that the food didn't meet expectations and the fact that catsup & tabasco weren't provided for a dish filled with Tator-tots without having to ask (and then the server had to ask her supervisor where to look). The bottom line is that I was expecting something better. It's now 8:30pm and I'm still bothered by this and felt compelled to write this review. Somebody needs to show the chef what is a proper corned beef hash and give instructions on how to create it. read more

We've been here twice over the last few weeks, and I'm really liking The Post. They've got a solid mix of "comfort food" executed really well, an open airy space, and a great friendly bar. We've had the cauliflower buffalo wings, the tater tots in several forms, the shishito peppers, some meatball sliders, and we've shared a Post burger. All are kind of standard cool-bar menu items, yeah, but they're executed perfectly. Seriously, its like each tater tot and pepper was hand-inspected before it came out. There has not been a bad morsel in the batch on either visit. I have to try the Impossible burger next time -I'm pretty confident that if it can be made well, here is where that would happen. On one visit we sat at a high top table (love those) and on the second we sat at the bar. Both times service was pretty speedy and perfectly smooth. The space is open, so on the loud side, but then again this is Los Altos we're talking about here so it is also pretty mellow. Haley has been behind the bar on both of our visits, and she sets a fun tone at the bar -she's happy to suggest a favorite spirit for a cocktail, and the happy hour cocktail that I had last visit -the Postloma- was pretty darn tasty. I'd love to see The Post expand their spirits selection, but hey, that's not going to keep me away. read more

What a shame! We have been going to The Post since it opened and enjoyed the good food. The calamari were among the best in the Bay Area, good risotto, good duck etc No more calamari, duck or risotto. All replaced by low quality junk food. We were told that there is a new "chef". Quotes because l would not call a chef the author of what we were served. They used to have a very decent house cabernet. I believe they replaced it by vinegar. Unfortunately, there is a new chef and the menu has completely changed..... how could they take the calamari or fish tacos off the menu!? It's very limited and it's trying to be too upscale. They said they would send us a survey after but we never received it so we are leaving the feedback here. Please go back to the old menu! Nothing needed to change! We came in on a Sunday in the afternoon. When we got inside, we were told that they were in between lunch and dinner so they only good serve us burgers or sandwiches, which was not a big deal since we were thinking about getting burgers anyway. We got inside and were seated at the bar. We ordered two Lamb burgers and got our burgers in about 10-15 minutes. When we first got the burgers, we noticed the buns were nicely toasted and did not have a problem with sogginess which was nice, and told us the burgers were pretty well made. Since we ordered lamb burgers, we knew they would be slightly dry--which they were. However, these guys did a good job seasoning their lamb burgers that we did not have too much of an issue with dryness or aftertaste. It was also not overwhelmingly overpowered with cheese which gave us a chance to appreciate the taste in the lamb. The place is slightly pricey with lamb burgers exceeding $21+ each. However, I would say to give this place a try. We will come back and try other entrees when we get a chance, and will probably update this review. read more

If they can't abide by the COVID restrictions, what makes us think they can be trusted to run their own establishment in a sanitary manner? The safety of their patrons and staff obviously doesn't mean anything to them. No, thank you! I'll go somewhere else that is conducting their business responsibly. I parked and walked over and noticed patrons sitting outside at tables. Outdoor dining was currently banned, so this alarmed me. I asked someone waiting outside why there was outdoor dining happening and the patron told me the owners were "taking a stand" and disregarding the outdoor dining ban. Needless to say, this made me feel like the staff did not care about safety during COVID and I definitely felt that eating there would be unwise. We got a nice booth inside and were promptly greeted by our waiter. He was great! Friendly, efficient, kept our waters filled. We were in a bit of a hurry and still enjoyed our meal. Went straight for the entrees- I had the flat iron steak w/ mashed potatoes and broccoli. Daughter had the caesar salad adding salmon. Her hubby had the grilled salmon w/ mashed potatoes and veggies. I was skeptical about stopping in after having visited First and Main in it's various stages of disarray over the years. While it kind of feels like this place has gone through an amazing Bar Rescue, I still have flashbacks. The drink program has been elevated big time. I truly LOVED my Scofflaw Cocktail. The ambiance is very modern and pretty, but it feels a little cold - white tile and white counter tops and cold metal chairs. Again, very pretty, just not overly inviting. The food seems forced. Much of it feels reminiscent of the former business - tacos and totchos and burgers. They have made an effort to step the food up a bit - flat iron steak and mussels and poke, etc. However, I feel the prices on the elevated food are too much too soon. $17 for a salad, $16 for a breakfast burrito and $28 for salmon seem extremely steep for a place that needs to earn its stripes and convince me its not First and Main in a costume. read more

Snackables that my coworkers and I frequent are the cauliflower hot wings, fries, and did I mention the cocktails? We've also been there a few times with a large family and friends group and have not been disappointed.
