WHEN: Sunday @3:30pm and Tuesday @11:30am My friend wanted to a nice cup of coffee from a nice spot and found Pour Choice. I love the name name, and I won't make any punny comments about it, haha. It was a hot day and we found parking across the street in a tiny lot for $3/hour. It was around 3:30pm on a Sunday afternoon and it seemed busy. However, we managed to find seating for our part of 5 and dog upstairs. What I love about this wonderfully decorated shop t is there is a good amount of seating: - First floor inside - Outside Side Patio (large!) - Front standing bar - Upstairs - Upstairs Balcony Here's what I had: GOLDEN TURMERIC ELIXER - $4.50 I had it slightly sweetened with a shot of vanilla syrup (+$0.50) and the sweetness level was perfect. Since it was hot, I had it served over ice and it was so wonderful. It was creamy, and you definitely taste all the spices--but not too much! After coming the first time, I knew I wanted to come back to work there for a bit. So on a Tuesday morning I came and had some food while I worked. Here's what I had: NORTH FORK CHAI LATTE - $4.50 I had this over ice and it was fine. I just wanted to try something different from the Golden Turmeric Elixir. It's thick and looks like no ordinary cookie. It has chocolate chips, pecans, and should have oats and coconut. I think they are all there but subtle. It was a fine cookie that would have been yummier maybe if it was warm. At least it wasn't hard! TURMERIC OATMEAL COOKIE - $4.25 This was already pre-wrapped in ceramic so I am guessing this was not baked in-house. Too bad they can't warm it for me, I bet it would have tasted so much better. Although I didn't taste that much turmeric, I can definitely see it! It's still chewy tough and I love the oats in it. AVOCADO TOAST - $6.50 With avo mash, microgreens, and shaved radish. +$2 with 6 minute egg +$2 with goat chévre Oh man this was so good. You definitely need that goat chèvre. Overall wonderful. The entire staff seemed friendly. My only complaint here is that there are no enough outlets! I can see a lot of people come here to work, and have the piece of mind to use the bathroom with their things unattended. This cafe is so classy looking and I appreciate all the lovely decor! The employees are also really nice, and considering how many people are here they get things out pretty fast altogether. I've had the pumpkin chai and a latte, both with oat milk, in the past couple months. The pumpkin chai is great, but you can taste the fresh pumpkin more than the spice. Be warned if you're not a fan of real pumpkin. The latte was excellent. The espresso they use has a deep, rounded but still bright flavor. This is hands down one of the best coffee spots in town. The space is modern, clean, and has a great energy. It's perfect for meeting up with friends or getting some work done. Everything here is high quality, from the coffee and food to the interior design and service. The drinks are consistently excellent. They only serve perfect shots, which I really appreciate as a barista who knows what it's like to pay for coffee that doesn't meet the mark. You can tell they truly care about what they're making. On my first visit to Pour Choice, I mentioned that I didn't usually like chai. Instead of brushing it off, they offered to make me one to try and said they would gladly make a different drink free of charge if I didn't like it. That kind of hospitality really stood out to me. I have seen this place all over social media and have friends who rave about it. Finally got to try it and so happy I did because it's probably one of the best Coffee/ Drink spots in the area. If you're in the Auburn area this is a must try! Let me start with the drinks. I'm usually not a Chai person but I love pumpkin and the Pumpkin Chai Latte sounded good. I'm so glad that's what I picked because it was delicious. You could taste the pumpkin and the latte wasn't super strong. These is probably a seasonal item so if it's on the menu would definitely recommend you try it before it's gone! It was delicious! We also ordered a Lavender Lemonade and I'm huge on lemonade and this really good, it is a bit on the sour side but yummy, so be prepared. You can taste the hint of lavender yet it is very subtle. Now on to the foods. The almond croissant was really delicious. It was flakey and had a nice honey coating on the inside and it was a really large portion, so definitely shareable. The Sourdough pretzels were probably one of my favorites, they were warmed up and so delicious! Especially with the side of Honey Dijon mustard- would definitely recommend trying those if you're a fan of pretzels. My friend loved her Avocado toast and said it was really filling. There is a load of Avocado, with micro greens and watermelon radishes. The aesthetic of this place is also amazing. As much as I enjoy venturing to coffeeshops, I am surprised I have not been to this place sooner! This takes me on a journey to Auburn, CA where you will find their #1 local coffee place, "The Pour Choice". I would even say that this is one of the best places to go in the Sacramento area. That is saying a lot but as you continue to read my review, I will explain why. Located directly on Sacramento St. and just off of the I-80 freeway in downtown Auburn, the Pour Choice has been offering some of the best tasting coffee and small bites since 2017. I've already been here on more than one occasion and both times I've been overly impressed. The one thing that can be a bit challenging is the parking situation as you may have to find something quite a distance away especially during the peak hours. Now there's one thing that makes a business thrive and that's the ambiance. This place has one of the most impressive interiors AND exteriors I've ever seen. There are two floors located throughout the building have seating located everywhere. This pairs up nicely with natural lighting, amazing modern furniture and decor, and even striking attention to detail. The outside is just as good with 2 sizable patios completed with large oversized umbrellas at the tables (to keep out the shade) and even a full size balcony. This is where my lady and I sat on both occasions where you could watch the traffic and even people watch. Its very impressive and well thought out. Now that we got that out of the way, let's talk about their coffee and food! The first time we came here, I enjoyed their "Avocado Toast with a 6-Minute Egg" and a "Sparkling Lavender Lemonade" while she also went with their avocado toast but a creamy hot "Vanilla Latte". Our second visit I enjoyed their "Barcelona Sandwich" with an "Iced Latte" while she went with the same food/drink items as her first visit. I will say, their avocado toast is amazingly delicious with a very nice presentation. She even stated her coffee tasted excellent and smooth. The Barcelona Sandwich includes serrano jamón, manchego reserva, arugula, chorizo aioli, and pepperoncinis on a baguette roll. And to those "non" coffee-lovers; The Pour Choice also has a very extensive wine and beer menu with business hours going as late as 10:00pm on Friday and Saturday nights. And if that's not all, they also have live music nights! Overall, this place does things right in every way possible. The service here has been amazing while the food, drinks, and ambiance are as good as it gets. I see a ton of future visits to "The Pour Choice". My rating, a unanimous five-stars. read more

Cute coffee shop in historic Auburn. The staff were all friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our drinks. Limited seating but it's a nice area so we sat outside. My only complaint is that this location is not very accessible. If you have a stroller, wheels chair, or can't walk stairs it will be difficult to get to. We had a stroller and we ended up just carrying it up the steps with our baby. Old Auburn has a lot of hills anyways so we weren't totally surprised. read more

I really think they did a great job, but there were a few things that didn't go so well here. They had dirty tables here and we had to take all the plates, garbage, and leftover food away and clean our own table. Also, they were out of the cheese that comes on the breakfast sandwich, so we had to substitute it. Furthermore, during 3 occasions while I was there, someone who was cleaning broke plates or cups and everyone could hear the crashes. They seem a little disorganized and rushed, but they did prepare food and drink in a timely manner. Their bathroom is clean. The staff seemed nice and helpful. The food and drink were made well. Also, the almond croissant was the best I've ever tasted and I could eat them probably every day. I still recommend them. Been going here since 18' and I'm telling ya it's a vibe. It has indoor and outdoor seating and it's got very aesthetic vibes. The food is pricey for auburn but it is worth it. Nothing is disappointing. The coffee is really good and they also serve kombucha, beer, and wine. They sometimes have little flower bouquets events and you can purchase them near the coffee. Service is normal and good. Like every other place. Auburn will never let it close because it's what keeps downtown auburn bustling. Definitely worth a try, you'll be back for more. read more

There's lots of seating which is nice, they don't have WiFi available on weekends which is kind of a bummer but I came prepared. If you're concerned about Covid I would be cautious because it can get quite crowded and the seats aren't really socially distanced. Update: due to county wide shut downs back to purple, indoor dining is a no go right now. Luckily, they've got a great outdoor dining option!
