This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Auburn. I go there before a long hike or afterward for a treat. I like the downstairs and upstairs areas, and you can also sit outside. There's always interesting food; I got the lavender muffin and a yummy tea. Definitely check it out in Auburn! It gets very busy on weekends, so I make sure to get there early.

Recently came back to Pour Choice with some friends after a hike in Auburn. This spot is still so adorable and I definitely understand why it is so popular. This time around I ordered their grilled cheese with bacon which was delicious. The bread was buttery, crispy, and perfectly toasted. The cheese and bacon went together perfectly and I found it pretty filling as a breakfast sandwich. I also got their version of an Arnold Palmer and it was refreshing and light. The first time I came I sat inside but this time we sat on the second level outside. It was super nice and lovely sitting outside in their beautiful patio area. I didn't realize there are three levels here, first level is indoors, second is outdoors, and third is both. The staff were nice and helpful even though it was super busy.

I had a nice time at The Pour Choice. My friends and I stopped by after a hike out in Auburn. The line was long, but it really wasn't a long wait! You order your food at the register and they give you a number for food and call out your name for drinks. We sat down and within 10 minutes we all had our food. I got the breakfast wrap and it was very good! I also tried their selection of lemon kombucha which was also delicious. I would recommend stopping by. They don't just have breakfast! I really want to come back and try their grilled cheese.

Trendy coffee shop in Old Town Auburn with great drinks and an assortment of lunch options. Stopped by after a hike for some coffee and a snack. We tried their new strawberry syrup in the latte and it was amazing. Not too sweet with great natural strawberry flavor. The deviled eggs were great but only came with one egg for $5 which is a little steep. Overall, seems like a great place for coffee if you live here or stopping by. Staff was super friendly and brought out our eggs for us.

Slow service as everyone comes to this coffee shop. Great views, nice people though. My day trip to Auburn: Pour house, skip the coffee and get the cookie. Their Old Auburn and downtown is full of junk. You can explore their tiny free Gold Rush Museum next to their viral thrift shop Moon Walk thread and grab pizza next door. All walkable! Original Ikeda is walkable but we drove. Prefer the Davis location.

Cozy ambiance, friendly staff: Their latte is pretty good - smooth and without any burnt coffee aftertaste. I had the jalapeño deviled eggs and it was delicious. Dog friendly place with nice indoor and outdoor seating.

We stopped off in Auburn on our way back from a baseball game and needed a pick-me-up after a filling dinner. Thankfully The Pour Choice was conveniently located close to the restaurant we patronized. We were warmly greeted by the staff, who were helpful with our selections, and we took in the sites of the quaint and sophisticated ambiance of the shop while we waited for our drinks to be made. We chose an espresso, a cortado, and a cappuccino, all of which were tasty and provided the right amount of caffeine we all needed. We loved that there were milk alternatives and you can't go wrong with some coffee art! There were many other beverage options to choose from, including teas, specialty coffees, drafts beer from local CA breweries, signature cocktails, and a nice wine selection. There was also plenty of seating upstairs (including a cute patio) and downstairs.

We were in the mood for a Cappuccino and now faced with where to find the best choice. I looked at my Yelp app and saw that we are close to " The Pour Choice" and decided on this one. Walking in the door and Neil Young is on the airways has us smiling. We were greeted with friendly service and our Cappuccino's were prepared perfectly in presentation and taste.

I really do hate to give a negative review, but when a business deserves it, I feel it is a must to keep these sites legit. Otherwise why have reviews! I've been visiting Pour Choice since they opened in 2017. We used to live near by and now visit annually from abroad as we have family here. I do enjoy their coffee (but do hate paying for alternative milk such as Oat) and my husband enjoys a matcha or chai tea (also with oat milk). We also like the avocado toast served as vegetarian. My issue is the tables have now become work space for those that feel a local coffee cafe is their personal office or library. No regard to others that would enjoy a seat at a table. No regard to those of us that do not want to hear their ZOOM meetings. No regard to those of us that ARE PAYING customers and you definitely pay a premium here as prices are on the high side. Today, 12 May 2025, happened to be a bit cool outside. Arriving at 2pm, my friend and I wanted to have a coffee and a light lunch at an inside table. I counted 11 - YES ELEVEN - tables occupied by laptop users. Both on the lower level and the upper level. Though we FINALLY found a seat, we were wedged tightly between the 'office workers'. And you know what, in our hour stay, we observed 99% of these tables with NO FOOD or BEVERAGES to consume!! Even as we left, the same 'gang' were occupying the tables. And as we were leaving, two came in to share a table and immediately pulled out their laptops. As I was walking down the stairs, another young man was arriving to - yep - sit down on the upper level with his lap top. At this point, all I could do was shake my head in disbelief. If this is the atmosphere you want to allow, that's fine. Then please replace your name with either THE POUR CHOICE LIBRARY or THE POUR CHOICE COMMUNAL WORKSPACE. That way, those of us PAYING CUSTOMERS would know to take our business elsewhere. I sure don't want to sit amongst entitled workers that don't know how to pay for their own WiFi or can't figure out how to commute into an actual office building. You know, like we all used to HAVE to do in the 'olden days' of real jobs or university libraries! Please Jordan and Melinda, listen to those of us long time customers. You could easily set restrictions. Make MOST of the tables laptop free. Set time limits. Set purchase requirements. There are many ways to make your establishment friendly to all of us. I know you are busy getting the new restaurant up and running. But just think, you will be offering dinner at the new location. How will it go over if this 'laptop gang' goes there, orders an inexpensive bite to eat or drink and then occupies a table all evening? That's not going to go over well as others wait for a table or have to be surrounded by an office atmosphere which most people are trying to escape! Thank you for 'listening'. I really hope you take this constructive criticism seriously.

Got hungry after hiking so stopped by here for food. They are located at Old Town Auburn. The ambiance was nice. Seating available downstairs, upstairs and outside. Order at the counter, pick up drinks from the barista and if ordering food, they will bring to you. We received our order pretty quick. I got the BLT and omg, it was so good. Thick cut bacons, perfectly crisp. Bread was toasted nicely. Presentation was great. Parking is free :)

We were driving through Auburn after spending a weekend in Lake Tahoe, so we needed some coffee for the road. Found this place on yelp and I'm so glad we stopped by! I loved the vibe and aesthetic, and the drinks were so good! I also really enjoyed the banana bread -- it was perfectly moist and not too sweet. There are lots of seating inside, upstairs, and outside! Service was friendly and drinks came out quick. They're also dog friendly which is always a plus! Only street parking is available but we were able to find a couple spots on a Sunday afternoon. I'm an out of towner, but if I lived nearby, you'd find me here often!

After waiting almost 30 minutes for our order, my husband's breakfast bowl turned out to be literally just a bowl of lettuce with an egg patty and some dressing. That was it. It was supposed to come with onions and peppers, but they had run out, and unfortunately, no one mentioned that when he ordered. He went back inside to share his feedback, and to their credit, they added some bacon and avocado afterward. Still, the experience felt disappointing overall, especially given the wait time and how excited we were to try this place. My avocado toast was just okay- not terrible, but not particularly memorable either. We really wanted to love this spot, but sadly, it just didn't meet our expectations this time. read more

Cute place,,,a bit pricey....hard to find seating but staff seemed nice. I've been three times now . I keep hoping each time would get better but past couple times have been a bit chaotic. Orders get a bit mixed up and no place to sit and not very relaxing to sit or visit with people. Being downstairs is too chaotic so if you can score a place upstairs it's good, difficult if you are more than 2 people to find a spot. read more

This place is SO cute. Im from the Fair Oaks area but was in Auburn visiting a friend, and she suggested me and my dad visit the pour choice on our way out! It was delish. I got the turkey mozz wrap and it was SUPER fresh and filling! My dad got the hot italian and he said he loved it as well. Not to mention, it smelled amazing. I also ordered an iced brown sugar oat latte. I personally dont love overpowering flavors in my coffee so when i tasted the subtle brown sugar, i was super satisfied! It was a busy saturday at lunch hour but everything got handed over in a timely manner, and employees were super helpful and kind. Only complaint was it was VERY warm inside the building but honestly that probably sucks more for the employees than just me stopping by. Lol. Thank you pour choice for the great first impression! I will definitely be back next time I am in Auburn. read more

WOW! What an amazing place! An incredibly cute building with outdoor seating and some surprisingly fantastic food and drinks. We dropped in after hiking one Saturday morning and the place was poppin! The line was out the door and the wait was fairly long. One person was taking orders, two ladies were working the coffee, there were a couple food runners and not sure how many people were in the kitchen. I ordered an iced brown sugar latte with oat milk which was very pleasant and came out fairly quickly for how busy it was. I also ordered the scone which which was a sandwich with jalepeno cheddar scones for the bread. By far one of the BEST breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. It came with a relish, more cheese, turkey and arugula. It's very crumbly and makes quite a mess but it's worth it. The lines and price are definitely worth it! They have fun cocktails too! read more

Came here with my husband after exploring some of Auburn. It was a really fun establishment to visit, with a mix of hipster and emo vibes. We are so happy we stopped by. We didn't get to try any food, but I liked how they had a decent selection of menu items (paired with a sense of humor "shark board" instead of "charcuterie board" lol). There is a variety of local beers, which enticed my husband who chose a Pilsner. I opted for a lavender latte, which was delicious but a little too sweet. Service was very friendly. However, I was overcharged. I just let that be my tip. There's lots of indoor seating and some outdoor seating. I would definitely return, but just check to make sure I wasn't overcharged again. read more

I was done with work for the day and just felt like It was time for a coffee. The Pour Choice was on my "To Try List" and this was a perfect timing. They're located close to downtown Auburn just a minute or two off the freeway. The drive to the coffee shop is nice but one issue is parking.... which is off the main street and limited but lucky me I found one within a min with about 2 min walking distance. The location has a very nice vibe and a antique feel to it. You walk up some stairs and voilà... you get to The Pour Choice Today I tried Honey Latte and taste wise it was really good. An amazing stop on the way to Truckee! We were very pleasantly surprised by how good the coffee and food were. They make their food in-house, and it tastes like home-made. We loved the yogurt parfait with apple preserves and granola: the preserves had little sugar and tasted like what I would make myself. The yogurt itself was great and tasted like minimally processed. Our kids loved the granola, too - we didn't get a chance to try )) Breakfast biscuit sandwich was very filling and tasty. Our cappuccinos were absolutely delicious, and kids really appreciated their hot chocolate. The coffee shop has lots of seating, including outdoors, and is very cozy. Wow - what a perfect spot! The coffee is great, the space is huge and decorated well. Both indoor and outdoor space. The staff are friendly. The red haired girl is putting out the most beautiful latte art - even on a busy Saturday morning. Such a smart idea to add beer, wine and cocktails and to be open late. This place was a little funky. The layout was interesting and it's definitely a busy place to say the least, which must be for a reason. The food was pretty good, hot, fresh, warm and delivered to your table. The coffee took a little while to get and was a bit tricky going up the second floor with the full cups. I think if they included as part of their service, that would get me to a 5 star. Aside from that, the location is pretty centralized, nice, relaxed ambiance and is a cool little place, where you can enjoy the indoors or the outdoors. I'll definitely be by, next time I'm passing through the area. read more

Staying a long weekend in Auburn, I was worried I wouldn't find an interesting coffee shop as I usually enjoy. I was very wrong, "The Pour Choice" is an excellent coffee shop, right up with the top of those that I frequent. It is in a beautiful location on the historic Sacramento Street in downtown Auburn. It has both a full service coffee bar as well as a wine bar for tasting and craft beers. I had a regular mocha, it was very tasty complete with well done latte art. They had a nice list of different flavored lattes which I'll be sure to try on my next visit. The loaded banana bread with peanut butter and banana was exquisite and surprisingly not overly filling as I was worried it would be. They have plenty of interesting breakfast and lunch foods or just afternoon snacks to enjoy. It was hard restraining myself from trying more of them on my morning visit, but I'll certainly be back so that I can get a taste of many of these. There is plenty of seating, deceptively so - I initially thought it was only downstairs and in front of the shop, but was pleased to discover that there is more seating in the back as well as an upstairs loft seating area, upstairs side patio and a porch up above with a view looking out onto the main street - All of these were great options for enjoying a nice view or people watching. The service was excellent despite there being many people enjoying their morning coffee and breakfast, the baristas all managed to keep up with demand with quality coffees and foods. A surprising little bonus was a little flower shop set up in the front which was nice and added to the atmosphere. read more

Love this place, although it's often packed and takes some time (duh, because it's yummy, but wanted people to know it may not be their best bet if they are in a hurry). Staff is usually very friendly and helpful. My favorite breakfast is the bacon and egg biscuit, absolutely delicious, the biscuit, one of the best I've ever had! I enjoyed the BLT last time I went for lunch, super yummy as well! Dog friendly with a nice outdoor space. A bit pricey, but isn't everything these days?! read more

You know...this place just needed another amazing 5-star review! Honestly, the vibe, the customer service, the FOOD, the drinks, it's a whole vibe that cannot be missed. Simply amazing and delicious. But I am enjoying getting to know the employees more Pro-Tip: Go during the week to avoid the crowds! And oh, please go to the Trivia nights, they are SO fun and the nighttime patio is lovely. The trivia host is also just so awesome, she had me cracking up nonstop! :-) read more

It's cool layout, great Americano, right off a Main Street for walking through the old town. On the other hand, it is the weekend, and the parking is next to impossible to find (maybe there is an event somewhere?), and pretty noisy. I'm going to visit again before i decide if it is a yea or a nay. Oh, the service was great! read more

Way too expensive for a latte. 7 bucks for like an 8 oz cup. I think they just do one size for every drink. The line is out the door, it takes 20 minutes to get a simple drink. If I hadn't already paid, i would not have stayed. No cup of coffee is worth 7 bucks and 20 minutes. The employees work hard. its not them, its the system. read more

Came in on a late Saturday morning. I got an iced vanilla latte. There were real vanilla specks in the coffee. The coffee was pretty smooth and strong in flavor. It wasn't too sweet, but I do wish there was more vanilla flavor. The place has a decent amount of seating, and it wasn't too crowded. They have a nice patio if you want to be outside and some indoor seating upstairs as well. read more

Food and cappuccino were great, but the line was out the door to order. That meant a 20 min wait for our drinks and a 40 min wait for our food. The cashier got our order wrong, so one person never got the food he had ordered. This place is a little stressful on a Saturday morning. Great place to come and enjoy old down town Auburn. They are super friendly and welcoming their food and drinks are good quality. However, in my opinion as a tea lover they steep their green tea latte too long. Making it taste bitter. Green tea is more delicate than black and requires less steeping time. Just my own view point. With three stories, this cafe is an exciting and unique choice that keeps you wanting to come back. The food and coffee were both lovely, but the service left something to be desired. Perhaps sitting on the top level and being so far from the food made it feel like a longer wait. I found the bottom floor next to the baristas far too loud to comfortably sit and work, but there was a good number of people sitting nearby. Despite my complaints, it's a lovely establishment that I'd happily go back to after hiking in auburn. read more

This place was f-ing delicious. I was on a drive from CA back to Sun Valley and was so happy to find this place not far off the highway. I got their breakfast sandwich and brewed coffee with a little bit of their house made chai in it So good. They have the cutest little patio area that's dog friendly too ~ 10/10 recommend but go early! It's a small space and gets crowded by 8:30-9 due to popularity. read more

My biggest gripe though is the bathrooms. Four restrooms for an event that size is just not it. Bring in some mobile restrooms for big events, something, anything. It's such an easy fix and makes a huge difference when you're waiting in a long line after a few beers. Still one of my favorite spots and I'll keep making the drive up even though its over an hour away.

I recently visited Pour Choice for the second time, and while the food and drink are consistently excellent, the service experience remains a bit of a mixed bag. The menu is fantastic and I was happy to see some new, well rounded additions. Their chai latte is easily the best I have ever had. It is rich in flavor, even if it leans a little on the sweet side. I also enjoyed a strawberry cider and a standout non-alcoholic kombucha. For food, the new deviled eggs were great, and the breakfast bowl with steak was perfect. It was filling and balanced with great texture. While it gets pricey once you add steak, avocado, and quinoa, the quality is definitely there. My friends also swear by the grilled cheese with bacon, the cookies, and the banana bread. Their coffee selection is equally impressive, whether you are drinking it there or buying bags to take home. However, there are some operational downsides. There are only two single bathrooms, so expect a wait. More importantly, the ordering process is quite slow. The line moves at a crawl because the staff member at the register often stops to pour drinks before helping the next customer. They also seem to struggle with inventory. By mid-afternoon, they were already out of biscuits, pretzels, and banana bread. What was more frustrating was the lack of helpfulness when items were unavailable. My friend was told they were out of biscuits for a sandwich, only to overhear someone else order it on brioche a moment later. Similarly, a child in our group was told there were no chocolate chip cookies, but we later found out snickerdoodles were still in stock. It would be a much better experience if the staff offered these kinds of alternatives rather than just saying no. I still recommend Pour Choice because the flavors are top tier, but I hope they can improve their efficiency and proactive communication. read more

I didn't know that dirty, smelly Dogs, Cats, and GOATS were allowed inside of restaurants now. Sitting on the chairs, being in the bathrooms, are you serious? According to California law, I thought only service dogs were allowed in restaurants and IF your restaurant were to allow dogs in then there needs to be a separate entrance for people with dogs and people without? And that the dogs have to be in the outdoor seating areas not INSIDE the restaurant. I've also seen multiple employees pet the dogs and go right back to work without washing their hands. I came to Auburn with a group of 10 doctors from Spain. I was recommended by a friend to come to pour choise. Nice place, to spend with friends, but the coffee quality was a shame, I have visited third world countries and have much better coffee than this and their menus are written in at least 2 or more languages. Employees very rude and without patience to serve foreigners, no one speaks another language. For such a place they should consider improving the quality of the coffee, the customer service, or at least the menu written in different languages. Stopped by The Pour Choice for a little me time, and it totally hit the spot. I grabbed a latte and found a cozy corner to just sit and unwind for a bit -- exactly what I needed after a long week. The place has this laid-back vibe with good music and a mix of people working, chatting, or just chilling. My drink was smooth and perfectly balanced (not too sweet!), and the staff was friendly without being over the top. I like that you can actually relax here -- it feels welcoming but not rushed. Try to go mid-morning if you can; it gets pretty busy later, but that's part of the charm. read more

When the customers are asking the employees to keep the cafe door closed during the early morning December cold, and the employees reply that they enjoy the fresh air because it's hot behind the coffee counter, it means that the owner/manager did not explain to employees that they will not be able to enjoy their job if the customers are not enjoying their visit. The solution is increadibly simple - install a fan for the barista and for the rest of the crew. It blows my mind that employees put their own comfort before customer's, while expecting higher tips. read more

I wish I could give no stars because the food I had the other day was disgusting. My roommate and I went there to get avocado toast and the girl who took our order was really mean and we kind of heard her make a racist comment about someone who was also working there So we already were angry. The avocado had an awful smell and tasted like it was not good anymore I will not come back! I'm just gonna add to my review that the Owner said my comment was ridiculous.. the hair in my toast was ridiculous read more

The Restaurant the Pour Choice is not following COVID-19 protocols. They are allowing people in the restaurant without masks and people are dining within 6 feet of each other without masks. In addition, people are standing in the restaurants designated areas without masks. They are crowding people into the outside dining areas such that they are within 3 feet of each other without masks. This is an unsafe place to visit during the pandemic. read more

i love pour choice and i've been coming here for years and am always happy ! the coffee always hits the spot and the latte art is super cool, all the baristas are insanely nice and the costumer service is amazing . the one thing i would say is if you're really into matcha i wouldn't recommend it here it's very milky and doesn't have a big matcha taste so i was pretty disappointed with that but everything else here is great! read more

The patio was overwhelmed by flies, making the experience very uncomfortable. Additionally, we were overcharged for the second time. Guests seated next to us also mentioned being charged for extra avocado they didn't request. It's becoming clear that visitors need to carefully review their bills. While occasional oversights can happen, this seems to be a recurring issue at this establishment. read more

It is a good place for a quick stop if you are in a mood for a cup of tea or something sweet. Service is very good and prices are very affordable. The person who served us, unfortunately I didn't know her name, was very nice and took her time to understand what we exactly want before taking our order. Highly recommend this place and will come back when I travel to this area. read more

Just a place this part of Sacramento-Auburn needed! Love this friendly coffee shop with amazing and very stylish decor. I love working in modern and nice spaces and this will definitely be my new go to spot! And for coffee lovers, almond milk lattes and single origin coffee are superb! Great for meetings, large group outtings, and catching up over coffee type of spot! read more

Just left The Pour Choice in Auburn, and we were blown away!! Real "Seasonal" menu!! Had the unbelievable mushroom sandwich, Oyster mushrooms, black garlic sauce, on a french roll, YUMMY. Gouda grill cheese (with bacon) and Velvety, satisfying squash soup! Killer wines on tap, 4 bears chard and Bonny Doon Rose , nice! This is a MUST stop when visiting Auburn!! read more

This place is racist. The owner supports his employees almost shoving my friend over and pulling the door out of her way. The Same employee made my coffee with the wrong milk which could have cause me to visit the emergency room and then yelled at me warning me next time I should order the right milk as if I would of intentionally tried to harm myself. read more

We love this place! By FAR the best coffee in town. Not to mention beer, wine and craft espresso drinks for the elitists. We were very impressed by the atmosphere, it feels classy and refined while still comfortable and casual. Wonderful place to meet up with friends! Also, the upstairs patio overlooking the town is wonderful! Highly recommend. read more

This place is the best! I have come here multiple times with friends, and the food, coffee, and atmosphere has been amazing! The restaurant itself is very modern, aesthetic, and cozy! The staff is fairly quick and friendly. I would recommend any of their drinks and the avocado toast. It's phenomenal! read more

I have been a long time fan of Auburn! My husband and I have been living in the area for many years. We came inside yesterday and the barista gave me the wrong coffee. Then she acted annoyed when I corrected her, and asked for a new cup! Please listen to your customers and fix your mistakes! read more

This place looks good on the outside, but as soon as you walk in the stench of musty dirty feet smack you in the face! If you can get past that they top off your experience with rude service and undercooked or overcooked food! I highly do not recommend going to The Poor Choice! read more

These guys are awesome! They have really done a great job with all the construction and decor. The environment is so fun and friendly love that they opened their arms to this community and are a living room for all of us to share. Definitely check them out! read more
