I have been a returning customer multiple of times , I have been getting pierced by Kellan twice. Has the best customer service and fun personality and great experience in the industry of body modification. However for this review I'm a little upset due to me booking an appointment for a vertical Labret, and I wrote specifically in the notes that I had my Ashley piercing done prior and took it out , that being said I had that piercing for well over 2 and a half years. As I drove in , waited for it be exactly 3:30 my appointment time I was great by a gal, who I have NOT ever been pierced by before but her personality was dry, and not friendly it made me uncomfortable, they proceeded to ask me what I wanted and in which they called me earlier to fill out the waiver before appointment they should have seen the notes that said I had my Ashley piercing and I took it out, now I'm in the shop and they proceed to say, "when did you take it out" I said when and they had said "I don't feel comfortable piercing that area again " "it needs time to heal" heal? It's healed do you mean close ? so that whole interaction was confusing, when they had said they didn't feel comfortable I said I'm pretty upset due to the fact my time has now been waisted and I drove over here when you called me earlier to do the waiver you should have asked me when I took the Ashley piercing so my time and gas was waisted. They then said we'll I'm sorry but kellan is here in Tuesday's so you can book it yourself when you leave in like two weeks from today. How about say let's get you booked before you leave so you have a reserved time and I'm very sorry for this inconvenience. I just wasn't pleased and I do not want to in the future be pierced by this person. read more

I cannot say enough about the amazing experience we had getting our daughter's ears pierced here! Kellan did such a thorough job - first meeting with our daughter to make sure she was truly ready to have her ears pierced, and then doing such an incredible job during the actual piercing itself! She laughed all through the experience! Afterwards they explained how to care for the piercings, and made sure we knew they were available to answer any questions or concerns we might have. Never go here to get a piercing. I took my daughters here for their third ear piercing and I had to pay $300. This was outrageous. The documents that are need for each appointment is also absurd. My daughter's ears kept getting infected and would not heal. Went in for a follow up and had to send weekly pictures. Scheduled the third appointment, didn't bring the required documents, even though I had been there two other times. They would not see my daughters. Then charged me for canceling the appointment. They also wanted to charge me again for more earrings. This place is an absolute joke. I should of gotten their ears pierced at Claire's again. Went to Claire's after they were so rude and was able to get my daughters new earrings. This is the worst place. It actually deserves no stars. read more

This place is AMAZING! they did a wonderful job of making me feel at ease from the moment I walked inside. They showed me the sani strip for the piercing and tools so I knew it was totally clean. Kayla did an amazing job making me feel comfortable and letting me know how it would feel throughout the piercing process. She also made sure I was completely content with the placement and I never felt rushed to make a decision. They have amazing steps to aftercare and they even gave me salt and directions for making wash solution. Their aftercare appointments are pretty amazing too. Kellen and the 2 women working the front desk (who's names escaped me, sorry) were very professional, kind and made us feel super comfortable. I went in today for new jewelry for my nose. I was greeted by Chris and told him what I was looking for. He spent time with me going through options, and helping me find just what I was looking for. While I was there, I got my tragus post shortened as well. I cannot express how great of an experience I had here. Best time having my jewelry changed out I've ever had. I am so so happy this piercing studio opened up in Vancouver! The actual space is huge, and I love all gallery style environment. THIS IS THE BEST PLACE TO GET PIERCED!! I went in on Saturday for a nose piercing - I was trying to decide between nostril vs. septum. Kellan was awesome - he looked at my nose and was very honest about the fact that my septum is crooked and a piercing there might always look a bit off center. So I went for the nostril piercing. I had my 7-year-old daughter with me and Kellan made her feel very comfortable. He joked about picking her mom's nose and made her giggle. The piercing itself was a piece of cake. My experience in the past has been that piercings hurt. But this one didn't! There's something about the way he pierces is quick, efficient, and painless. I still can't believe how easy it was! Two days later my new nose ring feels more healed than the one I got a year ago. I would highly recommend The Powers That Be Body Piercing to anyone. Wonderful experience! Very highly recommend. My two daughters had their ear lobes pierced today and they are thrilled! The earrings they chose were opal and turquoise, so pretty! I loved my experience here! The staff was friendly, the owner pierced my ears and it was almost painless. The only thing I would say, is prepare for the cost. For all piercings it isn't 40 for both lobes, it's 40 per lobe, so getting a normal ear piercing is 80 not 40. Jewelry is expensive as well, but it is quality and will last as well as you take care of it! read more

I went in for a septum piercing exactly two weeks ago, told them I had a septum piercing previously but it fell out so I asked them to screw the balls on extra tight so that it couldn't fall out again. For the price that it cost to get one of the most common piercings ($70) I am shocked that at exactly 14 days out from being pierced one of the balls has fallen off. I commented when I had it done that it didn't look fully screwed in, and clearly it was not. Also, I made an appointment time of 4:10, seeing on their website it says 30 minutes for the appointment. I showed up slightly before 4:10 and they were helping a walk in customer. 30 minutes later I had to go back to my car to put more money on the meter because they were still piercing the walk in customer. I was not taken back to be pierced until 4:50. What is the point of making an appointment if they will take a walk in first. It's been an extremely disappointing experience for the price. read more

By far the best experience I've had with piercings. I have had many done and no shop was as clean, professional, and welcoming. Kellan is AMAZING!! He took the time to show me all the jewelry options, and took me in last minute due to an awful jewelry trade out job that I was really upset over. I will never go to another piercer! After talking with him and having him (very gently and non painfully) remove and replace my nose rings, I decided I wanted to have my tragus pierced. I have had it done before and it was extremely painful for me. He seriously has magic hands and I hardly felt a thing. On Sunday, March 10th, my daughter and I went in for our first piercing. She was wanting to have her ear cartilage pierced and I was looking at a dermal chest piercing. Prior to going in, I had researched online and found very positive reviews for this place and I decided to give them a call. I spoke with Jennifer. She was lovely and kind and answered all of my questions. You could tell how much faith she had in Kellan's ability. I was sold. After we went in and met with Kellan, you feel like you've known him forever. He took the time to draw many options for my daughter and really walked her through the process. She was nervous but really put her at ease. We were all laughing and really having a great time. When it came time to do my dermal, he took the time to study my anatomy and drew and re-drew the lines to make sure it was going to be perfect. I could not get over how professional and how much of a perfectionist he was all while being funny and caring. It was awesome. The place was spotless and they show the measures they take to sterilize their tools and jewelry. I could not have asked for a better experience. I would recommend him for kids, first timers and well, just about anyone. We will be back. read more

Super knowledgeable of jewelry etc. I was hesitant to get my nipples pierced for over a year and got referred to Kellen from a friend, he made me feel so comfortable and couldn't have done more perfect of a job. 11/10. I've admired cartilage piercings since the late '90s, but never seriously considered one for myself. Too edgy, too painful, too not-me. I'd only ever had my lobes pierced and stretched. Lately, however, I've been really thinking of getting a cartilage piercing. But which one? Daith? Helix? Industrial? Orbital? Rook? Snug? Tragus? So many possibilities! I finally decided on a rook piercing. Unusual, yet not obvious. I started looking at reviews of piercing studios in the Portland area. Lots of good ones down in Portland, but I don't like driving across the river. Then I stumbled on The Powers That Be. Located in Vancouver, an APP certified member, a portfolio of Kellan's work on Instagram, and I liked how Kellan's personality jumped out of the photos and videos. I'd made my decision. I called and talked to Jennifer, she was so sweet and patient answering all my stupid questions, so I booked an appointment for the following day. I show up to my appointment super early, and I was a bundle of nerves. Kellan was so warm and calm though, that I quickly felt better. He examined my ears and confirmed I was well suited for a rook piercing. As we were waiting for the autoclave to process my jewelry we looked at pictures of piercings I'd saved to my phone that I was interested in. Kellan explained how each would or would not work on my ears, and offered alternatives. He took a marker and drew dots, circles, and lines all over my ears and took a picture of each ear so I could think about what piercings I might want for the future. I really enjoyed Kellan taking the time to connect with me and work on a consultation like that. Of course he explained the procedure for piercing my rook and the aftercare required. I was rather impressed he wanted me to come back in a month so he could see how it was healing. (Maybe that's standard for a reputable piercing studio, but it had never occurred to me they might follow similar procedures to a doctor's office.) The piercing room looked just like a doctor's exam room. Clean, professional, sanitary. Now it was time. A deep breath in, a deep breath out and the needle slides through followed by the barbell. Huh, that was it? I'd gotten myself all worked up and nervous over... well, not nothing... but I've had stubbed toes and banged elbows that hurt worse than that.
