1st time here. We were told about the Burgers and homemade buns. We were greeted by the nicest waitress, I think her name was Debbie Lynn. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger, wife ordered Bacon Cheddar burger. Both were Fantastic!! You can definitely tell the difference in meat quality and freshness of the buns. They also have a big menu selection if Burgers aren't your thing. read more

Flipping outstanding! Thats all that needs to be said, however... I will continue to persuade you to give this place a try! Sam was an excellent host and we found out that her and her dad run the joint! We love supporting a local place where the owners work in the business and especially when it is so dang good! We had a burger, buffalo chicken, fish sandwiches, pretzels, and fries!! Everything was most delicious and it was all cooked well! It came out hot and fast considering how the whole place was full! Our party of four had a great spot by the window and we really liked the atmosphere. It is a nice relaxing place serving outstanding fare for a reasonable price. We really enjoyed ourselves! On a recent visit on a Saturday night the food was very good. The service took away from this being an enjoyable experience. We ordered two appetizers, our entrees, and a couple of side salads. We received the salads first, then the appetizers arrived, and a minute later our meals. The timing and the quickness of the food to the table was terrible. We had a pleasant dinner here. The restaurant is very small, and not a lot of atmosphere, but we were lucky to walk right in and snag a table on a Saturday night. We had to wait a bit to be served, but the wait staff were hustling. Good for them that they're busy. They have a beer/wine menu only. I had a red sangria. Tasty but very sweet. This place has been voted "Best Burger", and that's what my husband chose. I got the chicken sandwich. They make their own buns, they make their own interesting sauces, and this chicken sandwich was delicious! We were happy to try a new spot and support local. read more

Fantastic! You must try The Press. Sam welcomed us in and explained all the deets. She and her Dad own the restaurant, plus her Dad bakes the buns fresh each morning. Great selection of beer, I stayed local and tried the St Augustine red ale. We had the pretzel as the appetizer, big win, and assortment of entrees from burgers, chicken, and fish sammiches. They were all delicious. The fries were well done as I ordered which is the way I like them, and tasted awesome. Great atmosphere, laid back, and just the kind of place to be. This small spot is a great stop! The employees are very friendly. It is a little warm, temperature wise inside. In the middle of the summer, any place is going to be warm though. I got the datil, cream cheese stuffed burger. The datil was a good spice and one that I would expect of a datil pepper. The beef could have had a little more seasoning, but it was nice and thick. The French fries were crisp. I also got a red sangria which was only $4.50 and very refreshing. I would have ordered a second one had the waitress come by before we were finished our meal. She wasn't necessarily neglecting our table, she was just managing quite a few. Not a big deal and we weren't mad, just saying the drink was that good. They have some great selections of salads, flatbreads, and other sandwiches. read more

I used to love this place. Hadn't eaten here in awhile though so yesterday i ordered lunch special, buffalo chicken wings, to go. When i opened container i found what appeared to be frozen chicken nuggets NOT wings. First bite was a SALT BOMB so i tried to scrape off coTing to no avail. I couldn't eat the celery stick because they were old. And looked bad. I tried one more chicken piece and then drank alot of water to kill the overpowering salt. The rest went in the trash. So sad. Went here for the first time this afternoon, although been in St. Augustine for almost 3 years. Had the Cowboy Burger. Ordered it cooked medium. I have to say that this is one of the best hamburgers I have eaten in the past few years... very thick, juicy, excellent bun, and toppings were superb! Ordered cold slaw on the side and it was better than in most places I've fined. Our server was very attentive to our needs, as well. The setting is primarily a bar with tables lining the side. Reminds me of a few other places I've had excellent burgers (Daytona, Nee Orleans, etc.). The other patrons seemed familiar with each other and the place... guessing I'd say they are regulars. Oh my gooooodness. I would give it more stars if I could. This place was amazing. We went on a whim for my son's bday. I had the stuffed burger and fried pickles. My son has the conquistador. (pictured) It took him a hot minute but he said it was the best thing he'd ever had. The staff were incredibly friendly, and we talked for a good minute since we are here on vacation. Eating a delicious lunch at a locally and a family-owned business was just a bonus. Has parking and outside dining , too! read more

Extremely disappointed in the advertised "giant pork schnitzel sandwich". The homemade buns are great - but just regular size, not extra large for the sandwich. The schnitzel didn't even stick out from the bun. We've had it in the past and had to share it because of the size. Mentioned it to our server - she said she would let "them" know. Heard nothing back. Will be removing this spot from our go-to lunch spot. By the way, it was $12.95 w/fries. read more

Compared with the previous location in the historic area, the new dining room is more spacious with most tables having at least one side with banquet seats. Parking is so much easier, and I think the food quality is better and more consistent than it used to be. This was our second visit to the new location and each time the food and service have been amazing. As always it's a great place for vegetarians and vegans with most items on the menu having vegetarian or vegan options. There is no shortage of great seafood and meat options too. They have local meat and seafood on the menu. There are also lots of gluten free options. We were celebrating our anniversary and the manager and our server were so nice and accommodating. There is a lot of outdoor seating under old live oak trees which will be amazing in the fall and spring. In August at least at lunchtime it would be far too hot to sit outside. For guests visiting from out of town, this is a great lunch stop before or after visiting the Alligator Farm!

The combination of imaginative cocktails, exceptional food, and a unique atmosphere makes every visit memorable. The cocktail program is outstanding. We enjoy trying a variety of their exotic and inventive drinks, and they never disappoint. The flavors are bold, creative, and unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant bar. The Yellow Submarine cocktail is quite possibly the best drink I have ever consumed. Made with curry-infused Bermuda black rum, lime, ginger, and Asian five-spice brown sugar syrup, it sounded unusual on paper but came together beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered four of them that evening, something I rarely do. That was three years ago, and despite returning several times since then, I have never seen it on the menu again. The food is equally impressive. Two years ago, I ordered the Skillet Roasted New York Strip served with Yukon Gold potato-anna, roasted asparagus and spring onions, watercress, and black truffle hollandaise. To this day, it remains one of the top five restaurant meals I have ever eaten. Every component on the plate was exceptional. The steak was perfectly prepared, the crispy potato galette was irresistible, and the black truffle hollandaise elevated the entire dish to another level. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after the plate is cleared. I would gladly drive 300 miles just to eat it again. Most recently, I had the wild mushroom bisque, and it was the best soup I have ever consumed. Rich, creamy, buttery, intensely mushroomy, and perfectly balanced, it was everything a mushroom soup should be. The addition of crispy pickled onions and crème fraîche added texture and contrast that made an already outstanding soup even better. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day hoping to order it again, only to discover it had already rotated off the menu. My only complaint about The Ice Plant is that some of their greatest creations seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. While I appreciate the constantly evolving menu and understand that seasonal changes are part of what makes the restaurant special, there are certain items that deserve a permanent home. The Yellow Submarine cocktail, the wild mushroom bisque, and the Skillet Roasted New York Strip with black truffle hollandaise are three of the finest things I have experienced there. The fact that I can vividly remember one of these items from three years ago and another from two years ago says everything. Great restaurants serve good food. Truly special restaurants create dishes and drinks that stay with you for years. The Ice Plant has done that for me more than once, and that is why we continue to return whenever we visit St. Augustine.

The Bloody Mary is where it lost me. $15 is a serious price for a cocktail, and mine arrived as a tall glass of ice with what was left over poured around it. By the time I was a few sips in, it was mostly meltwater. For that money I'd expect the drink to outlast the ice. Suggestion for the house: given the name, lean into it. Send everyone home with a free bag of ice -- at least then I'd feel like I paid for something I got to keep. Would go back for the food. Would think twice before ordering another cocktail.

Hand down, the best Shrimp & Grits I have ever had. 10/10.

We ordered a few drinks: Bushido Rhapsody (DELICIOUS), Stars & Sarsaparilla (husband liked it) and their currently rotating tiki drink - Escape from Black Mountain, which serves 2 and is served in a cool mug of the bust of Pedro Menendez. You can purchase it as well! It was so good and felt never ending between the 2 of us drinking it. For food we ordered a couple of apps - Cajun Chicken Eggrolls and the Montenegro Meatballs. Both were fantastic!! If we didn't already have dinner plans, we would have stayed here for dinner! Definitely will be coming back here next time we are in town and every time after that!

A hassle to get a table six day ahead of the requested date so we had to go with a 5:45 spot, I called to preorder a vegetable dish as I am a vegetarian and they said the reservation that was so hard to get would have to be cancelled and the entire table would need to do preordered entrees so I passed on that and then I called to ask about the corkage fee to bring my own wine and that was a no. Despite Florida allowing that, I do understand that is at the individual restaurants' discretion, but it is short sighted as that is pure profit for the restaurant. I dine at only high end restaurants locally and when traveling and they all allow byob wine with a corkage fee. We waited for the lady who drove us over to the restaurant to park and once inside (after checking in while she parked and they said we all had to be there), we stood around for another 10 minutes and then asked about our table and the two ladies at the hostess stand did not even seem to know who we were. I did speak to the manager in that time regarding the wine policy and she was not very friendly as neither were the other two people I spoke to on the days prior. When we were seated we were basically told they do things "their way" not that wording but interpretation. You must order everything at once- appetizers, sides, entrees, etc. The exact wording was "it is easier for the kitchen". I am sorry, but who is paying the check here? We did have several special requests regarding no onions for me and a few questions from those of us who had not been there. I knew from the minute we ordered which took us a little time to decide, that there was no way things were going to come out as requested and I was spot on though I did not realize how bad it could get/be. The charcuterie board was a joke. They did seperate the meat from the cheese as asked but it was pathetic and they had the nerve to serve stale Pepperidge Farm assorted crackers with that. A few pieces of other things but primarily PF crackers. Who does that? We ordered two salads to split between the four of us and asked that be the second course along with some bread. Some of the ladies ordered the beef tip appetizer as their entree to follow the charcuterie board and salads. I ordered the vegetable plate and the other lady ordered a filet special. Charcuterie came out and again pathetic, bread came out and beef tips. Not at all what was requested. We watched people get their meals that were seated after us and one and a half hours later we still had no salads. We finally asked another server to help us out and got our salads. Two hours later, we still did not have the vegetable plate or the filet. Needless to say, we were over it and found the manager to cash out and leave. They did comp the food we didn't receive and the apps but not the beef tips, bread, or drinks so we still spent $180 plus tip. In my opinion, they should have comped it all as it was such a terrible experience. We left to meet friends at Pesca Rooftop and they generously offered us some of the pizzas they had ordered as they heard about our horrible experience. We should have just gone there from the start. This was a one and done for those of us from Jacksonville. From service to management to food it was a huge disappointment. I sure hope they have a better team with better attitudes and such when they open in Jacksonville as we have lots of great restaurants here and that will not work here.

The Chryssaidis family, owns the Athena Restaurant also, but it's in the city center, and it always tough to find parking. The diner is away from the hubbub. It won't disappoint.

Everything about this place is perfect! You walk in and immediately feel comfortable. And I'm giving most of the credit for that to our server Megan. She is by far the most pleasant, and informative server I have ever encountered. She made wonderful recommendations (even got me to order the bread pudding which I normally would never) and was spot on with all of them. She made sure to include my daughter in the conversation with multiple compliments and the food came out hot and quick. We started with the calamari which was so tender and not overly breaded. And shared the conquistador burger, and that was the most delicious burger you will ever taste. This will be my new spot to stop every time I am in st Augustine! Half the salads went home with us to provide another meal. The shrimp were huge and perfectly prepared. The Chef Salad had great hunks of real ham and the most amazing produce and the dressings were excellent. I will be saddened to go back to store bought dressings and ranch and balsamic glazes. Get a side of (I think you have to specifically ask for) "Crispy" French fries no matter what else you order. They are the perfect size fries, crispy outside, moist delicious inside, and seasoned to perfection. We saw another table eating them and they looked so good we ordered a side - so glad we did. The restaurant is not inexpensive, but it is worth it. Quality food prepared with great attention to detail, fabulous tastes and excellent value. The restaurant has smoothies, ice cream, wraps, and more. Super nice for a beach day! I was with my family so we had a big order. I got the root beer float and my family all got ice cream. The girl at the counter may have been overwhelmed but she did come across a little passive. Overall though the ice cream was good (they only have a few flavors: vanilla, chocolate, and seasonal). They do have a lot of smoothie flavors though.
