Went to dinner with my wife our three children and met a friend who brought her two. Our server Tyler was awesome! She took great care of us made sure our drinks never got empty and helped make recommendations when we couldn't decide on what to order. The portions were much larger than we anticipated and the food warmed my soul, or maybe it was the house made peanut butter whiskey cream! We were there at the right time to watch the Sea World fireworks from the patio. Looking forward to eating here again. read more

I was in San Diego with family, and after a long day playing tour guide, we holed up in Mission Bay so that we'd be near the airport for early flights. The dining choices were limited, but Dan Diegos stood out -= Irish pub and restaurant....since half the family was Irish, it was worth checking out. We got there, and were seated immediately. Drink orders were quickly taken....Stella on tap....bonus! After chitchatting for a while, we got around to ordering from the rather extensive, and very Irish-centric, menu. The senior Irish person ordered blood pudding (I don't know what that is, I don't WANT to know what that is), while the rest of us ordered rather ordinary eats. I ended up with the special, steak and mashed potatoes. Our meals came....and the steak I ordered turned out to be the side of a cow. GEEEESSHH was it huge! A rib-eye weighing in well over a pound! It was good, but huge. I ate about four ounces and shared the rest. The mashed potatoes, however, left a lot to be desired. It could be an Irish thing, but they were VERY lumpy. And I really hate lumpy mashed potatoes. All in all, that was the only nit....good food, good staff, good layout. An enjoyable evening. read more

I am here as I wright this review because I couldn't wait to share my experience. My boyfriend and I came here looking for fish n chips and as we browsed the menu we found it hard to decide on just one thing. We ended up getting the corned beef sliders and the fish and chips. Both absolutely amazing, we ate it so fast I didn't have time to take a picture of the food. As soon as we sat our server mo greeted us with menus and a smile, she was absolutely great and checked on us in a very comfortable amount of time everytime throughout our service. I don't think the food took more than ten minutes to arrive, very fast and efficient, and did mention how good it was yet? Very clean and family friendly environment, I loved the service we received from mo, she was wonderful and we can't wait to come back and try more of their yummy food! read more

My family and I stopped here on our way to Sea World for some lunch after seeing the amazing Yelp rating and reviews...and needless to say we were not disappointed. Here's what we ordered: * Guiness Wings - $6 - Great! * Fish and Chips - $12.50 - Very good * Kids Chicken Strips - $5 - All right * Kids Grilled Cheese - $5 - WTF OMFG!! * Red Cider - mix of cider and red sangria * Big Sky Moose Drool - $4.50 - Nice * Snakebite - Crisp! Everything was excellent, but the real star of this show? THE KIDS GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH. I kid you not. This is the best grilled cheese I've ever had in my life. It was so buttery. Everyone at the table kept wanting more bites. My daughter also ordered the fresh Apple Slices, which they cut into a spiral shape - very unique! Dan Diegos feels very much like an Irish Pub. Darkish inside, they also have patio seating if you need more air & light. The staff is very friendly. I had to dock a star because the table was very wobbly and the menus were very wet (I think they clean them off with a wet rag). Ugh...I have a love/hate relationship with this place because of the side of bangers that I ordered. let the puns begin: The banger was not worth the buck The banger was short of my expectations 2 buck bang okay, now that was out of the way. This is a hidden gem if you are a chicken and waffles person. After a good 5k run, our friend recommended this place and was this the place to refuel and get some protein gains! Out of the whole party, 4 of the 6 of us ordered the chicken and waffles. I ordered the cold salmon plate and my friend who was going Vegan had their banana vegan bread, potatoes and soup. When those chicken and waffle plates came out we literally gasp out of shock...those f***kers were big! Waffle, chicken, chicken, waffle and held together by a stick. Syrup, butter and oil where just dripping happily from the top. Ugh...that crispy skin, the smell of diabetes...and I got a stupid cold salmon? What the hell was I thinking? (oh yea, eating healthy. duh) the salmon was yummy though! I'm not going to lie, I did like my dish. The salmon was deboned, cooked and then chilled with seasoning. It came out with the typical lox sides and this dill cream cheese spread that I cleaned up. Well, we had not been here since 2013 and gave it another chance. The first time we went they had just opened, so maybe now they had things running smoothly. First, we had a snotty server with an attitude. Since they offer a special brunch menu on Saturday and Sunday, I figured coffee was a safe bet considering it was 12:30 PM. Got the coffee, kept pouring cream in, realizing that it was very old. Fine, I will drink old coffee. I was with family and didn't want to be a sore thumb. First sip and it was COLD. When Snoots returned to take our orders, I told her it was old and cold. No apologies, nada. She returns later with a fresh hot coffee. Then of course, now there was no spoon or any cream, so I had to ask Snoots for some. Snoots didn't like that very well. Seems that was an imposition for her. Another gal in our party ordered a Bloody Mary. It came sans Vodka. She asked about it and was given a song and dance that it was some special kind of vodka and she could order another shot. She chose not to. Again figuring it was brunch and that eggs would be a safe order---I ordered a veggie scramble, dry, without bell peppers. They got that part right----but it was GROSS. A veritable egg soup; I couldn't eat it. Big mushy disgusting pile of eggs. The "soda" biscuit was stale. Didn't make any complaints and Snoots didn't come back to check on us anyway. The rest of the party had some mediocre food---a biscuits and gravy dish, fried shrimp and eggs over easy. Not great, but passable. Snoots never brought the waters, so some of our party had no drinks. I went to the bar and the bartender was accommodating and got us the waters. That was okay, as the bar was not far away. We arrived here on a Friday night around 6:45pm and it was happening. We only waited a few minutes before being sat. My two girls (5 and 7) wanted to sit out on the patio but I knew we needed to get sat where we could because all of us were hungry. The manager and our server Courtney were on the ball taking care of us even though they had a huge party and the place was crowded. My husband and I shared the Shepherds Pie and Irish fries with corned beef. The pie was perfect and tasted the way I expected; the typical comfort food that I was craving. My husband loved the sweet/spicy jalepenos and relish side that came with the fries. We were very satisfied and the food was tasty. What also hit the spot was the assortment of biers; local craft or what ever quenches your palatte. My husband had the SLAM IPA and I had my first taste of Fat Bastard Chardonnay. They don't have a printed kids meal but the kids were happy with their chicken nuggets and butter noodles. To top it off, we met the owners dad, Larry, who was ever so kind and especially sweet to our girls. We will be back and next time hope to sit on the patio and to try their brunch menu! read more

So happy this place opened in the area, work nearby and usually go here at least once a week (sometimes 3-4 times) Great family run, local business. Ryan makes most of the items from scratch, including sauces and sauerkraut! No meal complete without one of Patty, the mom's, delicious desserts! I'm not the only one who says this, but the bread pudding will convert non-bread pudding lovers -- its that good! Great food at a great prices, most items 5-10, tax included (makes it easy when paying the bill) and great beer choices. The outdoor patio is great to relax at lunch time. Finally, no visit complete without seeing Larry, the dad. If Larry is onsite, he always makes rounds checking on everyone, you can tell he genuinely wants everyone to have a good time and they are extremely appreciative of their customers and staff! My friends come here almost every other week so I decided that a second look was in order. My second trip was much much better. Matt is an amazing server. Our group was big, we sat on the patio and he was always there to make sure the heater was on and our drinks were filled. I didn't get a meal this time, but I did try an appetizer and dessert. I had cheese fries, which were awesome, and the bread pussing which was even more awesome. I definitely want to go back even if it is just for the bread pudding. read more

They are from a small town in northern California and they are not used to all the dining options that we have in San Diego. I got the fries with corned beef on top (delicious) We all loved them, we would order again for sure The Fish and chips that my wife got were good too My father in law got the shepherds pie, which looked good too I got the pastrami sandwich, it was good but it needed something. It needed cole slaw or a sauce or artisan mustard with it. Just moved to San Diego and was looking around for easy to walk to places that are also dog friendly. Honestly the only potential issue I initially noticed on my first visit was the outdoor seating is smaller and the tables are long so you aren't as separated for social distancing purposes if there are only a few of you in a group. But that might also be a new thing they've done for social distancing, so not the worst thing ever since I already like my personal space It just might mean you'd have to plan a non busy time to be there if you prefer to sit outside or bring your fur baby with you (dogs are only allowed on the outdoor patio). Also I did not have a chance to investigate the bathroom situation, so I don't have a review on that just yet. They do have a small parking lot to the right of the building, but there is also lots of street parking around in front and up each of the side streets within the block. But I definitely plan on making this a spot since it is so close and it just seemed like a nice chill atmosphere. They have a lot of TV screens, but most that I saw were inside. I had my fur baby with me and I didn't get a chance to investigate the other side of the building after we sat. But definitely a nice place to catch a game. It isn't very large, but it definitely reminds me of a spot from home that I used to go to all the time with my friends and my puppy, to hang out get good food and great drinks. It's definitely got the closed in atomosphere that keeps out the noise from the street and surrounding area, with the exceptions of loud motorists and the occasional train passing by. Their food selection is pretty varied. I would say it was like a cross between your typical American burger type resturants/foods with a little Irish twist to some things. Check to see which nights they have specials. I scored with Ribeye steak special for Monday with carmelized carrots and mashed potatoes and all day happy hour! The quality of the food was excellent, I hadn't had an acutal good blend of food like that since I was actually in Ireland. And their drinks were well made, not watered down. My mom was visiting and was with me and she is vegetarian and they had a good selection of options for vegetarians. Their veggie pattie was not dry and tasted like a nice vegan blend of lentils, polenta, bulghur wheat, tree nuts and veggies. I usually don't eat as much veggie or vegan options when we eat out, but I would definitely eat this next time I am there. And finally, they home make their doggie treats and you get a whole bag (like a small bag of fries size) for the fur baby. They also had water for the pups so no one is dehydrated So if you're around the Mission Bay/Fiesta Island area, come check them out! read more

I would seriously move to SD just to be able to be a regular at this place. We had a magical time last night, with amazing food and drink. I would return even if the service had sucked. But it didn't. The folks there made us feel like part of the family. My picky son wanted his favorite corned beef and cabbage, but it wasn't on the menu. Guess what? They made it for him anyway! We had the Loaded Board and the Smoked Salmon Board, and both had amazing flavors and textures that melded beautifully. My kids had Shrimp and Chips, a veggie burger, and grilled cheese, while my husband had pastrami and I had a salad. The portions were huge, but everything tasted fantastic. Been here several times now. The atmosphere is a super-friendly Irish/Euro Cafe pub with Irish jig music playing softly in the background. The servers are down-to-earth and eager to please...no pretensions at all! I've had the fish and chips, poutine with fries, "happy" biscuits with sausage gravy (should be called "the happy, then nappy"), and of course the bread pudding with whiskey caramel sauce. It was juicy and flavorful. we had the guiness dip on the side which is a must! We then had their weekly special which is a burger cooked to perfection and top it off with juicy chicken patty (oh la la) I ordered their beef shepards pie and a side of beef stew (ya girl loves her savory meats) and as an ultimate finisher, we had their amazing bread pudding in whiskey, pattys smores and a scoop of spumoni. How can any Irish bar score such low points with me especially when they have BEER??!! Service is is pretty slow for such a small joint. The servers were friendly...just grab them when you can. Food was ok but nothing exceptional. I had the fish and chips but for $13, I expected something more. Was a bit surprised there were NO Happy Hour specials for food. A big reason I probably won't come back. $5 pints for Happy Hour but didn't really want to buy a whole $13 meal to go with my pints. Another ding is there's really not much parking. Maybe 6 spots in the lot and then enough for 6 caRS out front on Morena...otherwise go the neighborhood behind.
