"Bleak" is the best way I can describe this place. The staff acts like they couldn't care less about the job, you, or the food. It was one of the only places open on New Years Day, so I get that to some extent, but the attitude was reflected also in one of the worst briskets I've ever had - fatty, cold and a light grayish hue. Thoroughly awful. Despite being hungry we left most of the food. I will say that the beans were decent. So, if you like bbq beans this might be your spot. Besides someone there to pick up a to go order no one was around, started looking over the Menu I decided there wouldn't be anything on the Menu I would eat after listening to the "chef" cussing! My Husband & Son returned months later stated the food wasn't worth it! November 2014 Decided I would try this place. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich it was very dry. My husbands potato salad was still raw it was like pulling the potato out of the bag and taking a bite. I took a photo of one of the sauces on the table you could see where they had poured in additional sauce, they were two different colors it was beyond gross whoever owns this establishment should be ashamed. Also at the end of our dining experience it wasn't cool for the Manager to show up & tell the kitchen guy to turn down his music since there was people out there. we stayed at the Andiron inn and they recommended this place. My boyfriend and i went and for our first experience it was AMAZING. Their food was delicious, the bbq in our town is way pricier than this one and not as good. We got a full order of baby back ribs, with french fries and corn bread. also got the 3 bbq grilled oyster and 3 garlic and herb. it was my first oyster experience and i have to say it was good. the ribs were delicious and the fries good. the corn bread was dry and i had to put lots of honey and butter on it. however ill go again maybe it was just that one batch :D we were both stuffed and couldn't finish it all and we payed about 30 for all and sodas. read more

The brisket was smoky & delicious and the spicy sauce excellent but it was very disappointing when I asked the young lady taking my order what she recommended and she made a face and said she doesn't really eat meat so she wouldn't know. Disappointing. A few year ago we had a great family meal here. The BBQ was moist with proper smoke bark, and sides were good. We were excited to try this place again on this trip to the area, but it was not the same. The ribs and the brisket were disrespected by being overcooked, dry, with no more taste left. I heard about this place, and I found it... July 2nd, while escaping the inland heat wave, I went over to Ft Bragg & tried this place out July 2nd I had the half plate of Brisket...which was very good and a very generous serving. The side was what they called "chili" but if'n you're expecting a bowl of Texas Red, this ain't it...it was a meatless baked bean concoction that simply was NOT "chili"... July 4th I went back and tried the half plate of pulled pork...again a generous serving, but could've used a bit of juice sprinkled on top before serving...not *very* dry but borderline. The cornbread side was fairly dense & dry-ish... Owners David & Diane were VERY friendly, and David showed me their pit, which came from MO. It's a propane / wood combo and has a programmable thermostat... I look forward to trying their other dishes. They're open EVERY day (yay!) read more

The wife and I decided to give this place a try since it's more our speed vs the fancier places. When we pulled into the parking lot we were a little skeptical because there was only one other car there. So we were hesitant to try it out with the lack of customers. Our food was good and we were satisfied with our choices. Wife got a full order of the shrimp which was 12 pieces. I sampled one and it had a nice flavor to it. For me I got a full order of the blackened rockfish. The flavor was good, just a little on the greasy side and the tartar sauce was a bit vinegary for my taste. First off I'm a big fan of BBQ foods. We didn't have the best here though. Half order of each baby back ribs and beef brisket. They were good smothered with the sauces but seemed dry. Like maybe cooked yesterday? And what's with only getting one side with half orders? That's just plain tight. Our cornbread was real, real dry. I pointed this out to manager..He said "Maybe I over baked it?" Well yeah! Why serve it then? Our chili beans were excellent... Oh, they have good prices for bottled beer, but a paper cup of water will cost ya a buck! I'm a local and not sure if they can stay in business with the iffy food. We have needed a good BBQ joint in this area and finally it's been done right! I thought the food was all extremely flavorful, not greasy like other BBQ places we had in the area. They seems to be pretty on top of their service, keeping things moving at a good pace especially for as busy as they have been since they opened. I really enjoyed the baby back ribs, my husband's brisket was very good. Everything that was ordered in our group looked delicious and fresh and everyone was very satisfied with their meal. Great flavors and fresh ingredients. The staff was friendly though you can tell they are still working out the kings in the service. I'm not usually a fan of ribs and found myself gnawing on the bone. The Hot sauce had a little to much beer flavor for my taste. The onion rings were good but need something. Went to Fort Bragg for a Disc Golf event and I had the opportunity to eat here and really enjoyed the food. I really like what I got. The people were nice and I would go back. The only thing of comment was the Texas toast. It was not Texas toast unfortunately so maybe change that. But definitely people should come here. read more

This was such a disappointment. The reviews are highly deceiving rating them mostly in the 4 star rating area. The ribs were mediocre at best, with a taste that felt as though it was drenched in liquid smoke and burnt. The coleslaw had no dressing and the fries were like rubber. The sauces were too runny and lacked flavor. The chili beans tasted like they were straight out of the can. The kelbasa sausage received was cold and tasted as though it was thrown quickly on the grill to brown the sides. If you bbq for a lesser price but packed with flavor, it'd be best to ride up the street to Safeway and purchase a premade package that need only warming in the oven. Only giving two stars because you get a lot of food, but it's just bland. I had the beef brisket and I had to drench it in the Memphis Sweet bbq sauce (the only decent sauce) and add salt/pepper to have any flavor. My wife and I stopped here last Friday. We were looking for some fish and chips, and with our two dogs in the van wanted some place that was quick and convenient and in sight of the vehicle. Visited Fort Bragg for a 4-day escape from San Francisco and the crowdedness of Fleet Week. Our motel was only a half-mile away, and we were craving BBQ so we thought we'd give, "The Q" a try. First of all, don't judge this book by its cover. This resto is right off the freeway and doesn't look much, but man, do they put out a great BBQ! My wife had a full slab of baby back ribs, a side of mac & cheese and corn bread; I had the full order of pork shoulder with a side of potato salad and baked beans. Both were as close to perfect as we could expect! I had enough pork shoulder to have two meals -- one half I downed immediately and the other half I tore into as a midnight post-ESPN Sports Center meal. The potato salad was creamy and flavorful, and the baked beans was just the right amount of sweet and savory, tasted a little like chili, and was very gratifying! Great job, The Q!!!!! We only visit Fort Brag a couple of times a year, but we're definitely coming back!!! read more

Don't get the beef ribs. Husband ordered beef ribs, brisket, chili, and onion rings. The ribs were extremely dry and tough. The brisket on the other hand, was the complete opposite and very tender, juicy, you could cut it with the edge of a fork. I would highly recommend getting this. The onion rings were crispy and very good. My order was the oyster sampler (you get 4) and side of mac and cheese. Out of the 4 oysters, 3 had a butter garlic based and essentially all tasted the same. The bbq sauce oyster was terrible. Imagine eating a spoonful of burnt bbq sauce and that's what it was like. All were oysters were drowned in their respective sauces and you couldn't really taste the briny oyster goodness at all. They were much smaller than I expected. Wouldn't recommend getting the sampler. Redoing my order, I would probably get a 1/2 dozen of one of the garlic butter oysters because they were pretty good. Mac and cheese was a pass for me-too bland although it looked like they used real cheese and not the processed cheese stuff. We really like The Q. Love the blackened cod fish and chips (not fried, served with lots of fries and good slaw). Pulled Pork, tender smokey flavor. The beef ribs are dry rubbed and have good flavor, pork ribs very tender. BBQ Oysters are terrific. They offer three BBQ sauces, you can soak your meat as much as you want with them. Great potato salad, onion rings and bean sides. Anyone who remembers this building- "HAM & EGGS / FISH & CHIPS" with seldom any customers, is happy to have a fairly busy, fun food place just off the Noyo Bridge. My main complaint, and its often my complaint, Is tinny hard rock played too loud, in the dining room. And it has to compete with Mexican music in the kitchen. EXTREMELY ANNOYING. I had a pretty embarrassing experience here. I ordered a burger, not really paying any attention to the menu. I get my burger and start eating it and was immediately thrown off by the taste. Just as I was about to take it back, my fiance asked "what burger did you get?" I told her "the only one on the menu - the wild boar burg....oh." I didn't realize it was wild boar, not beef. I was relieved to say the least. I finished the burger but I am not a fan of wild boar apparently. The staff seemed very distracted that day and not into interacting with the customers. Our standards for BBQ are probably much higher than the locals considering we are from the South but it's as good as any in Cali (that's not saying much though). The pulled pork was just ok. It was obviously not fresh. It was in a puddle of water and chewy like it was a few days old. The Baked beans were more like bean soup. The flavor was good but the beans were way undercooked. Ordered 1 combo with beef ribs and pork along with 1 plate of brisket. Charred ribs that were dry and had an 'accelerant' taste to them....did they use liquid fire starter on the BBQ and get some on the meat?. Generous portion of brisket but dry and very tough, where it wasn't tough it was so fatty I had to spit it out...my mouth was not pleased. The pork was just tasteless. 38 bucks and this was a 'to-go' order so no drinks on the tab. Potato salad that tasted like nothing. Onion rings were dry and overcooked. The mac and cheese was the best part of the dinner., As the ribs had that weird taste and I was very nauseated after eating this food...I tossed theribs (along with everythig else) instead of risking making my dog ill. Never again. And I agree with other reviewers, the place has no character, but who cares, it won't be here long. I first heard about this place a couple months ago.
