I'll say that the downside is what you expect: you're paying $$ for essentially instant noodles with toppings you could have yourself at home for 1/3 of the price. It's for the experience and convenience more than anything. I found most noodle packs were $6 and toppings ranged from $1-$4 apiece. My own soup cost about $10 + add a $3 soda. What a great concept! I first saw one of these while in Las Vegas, so when I found out there was one in the Dallas area I knew I had to try it. Being able to pick your own ramen and watch it cook right in front of you feels like something straight out of Japan. It's a fun and interactive experience that makes the meal even more enjoyable. Most of the ramen options lean toward the spicy side, so I do wish there were a few more non-spicy choices available. That said, everything we tried was quite tasty. I've seen this place on Instagram and it looked very cool so I had to come check it out. We stopped by for lunch here. They have so many different types of ramen with many different toppings to add. There is a Photo Booth inside too! You order at a kiosk and pick out your toppings. Toppings can be pretty pricey. You receive your order on a tray and then you go to the hot water machines to make the ramen. I definitely enjoyed my lunch! This was a fun and cool experience to check out. This is a cool place to check out different types of ramen. There is a kiosk where you can go through the different types and order which ramen with various toppings along with any sides. I'm sorry but it's far to pricy for what you get. It is a cute idea and maybe would work better in certain areas. First I do think the location will have some downsides, likely you will have to drive here to eat store bought ramen. That being said the lack of variety is other main issue. Most of this ramen is available down the street at H-mart or even your local Kroger. There are some that I haven't seen/harder to get, but majority are common in stores. Since it's all prepackage I can't really rate this restaurant on food? Yes the noodles were good but also it's the same noodles you can make at home. The main reason my review is so low is the price. One small slice of spam is $2 and a small shot of corn is $1. The price for the bag of ramen was like $6 but I guess what felt off was how high the price of sides were. And it's not like the sides are cooked before, they are (I assume) canned corn and canned spam. I bet this place would do better in a downtown setting for a quick lunch. read more

Great concept here in the US, after came back from Seoul couple month prior. My kid and I decided to do road trip and drove by this little town so we want to check it out to see how it compares to S Korea. Great spacious, clean and perfect place for selfie for sure. Parking might be an issue in the weekend but there's street parking too. We're there when they're open so the staff or owner, she was very nice and friendly. She pointed out what are goods and what are just aok. We ordered via kiosk, you could order through her too. We got several different noodles and added on plus appetizers. It's a self serve but you can ask for help but it sort of self explanatory. Overall it's a fun experience and similar in S Korea, except you have more choose of add on and drinks there. I've been here twice now so I feel I can make a review now lol. Both times I had a great experience. Now, I already knew kind of what to expect by some videos I seen but I still like to experience things for myself. Clearly, it's the cheaper ramen packs you can buy at the Asian markets. So if you're wanting to just eat the ramen go to the Asian market and make it at home. If you're like me, and you like a fun food experience, then definitely come try this place out. Best time I've went without a wait was on a Tuesday right after work. I made the mistake of first time going on a Saturday and it was packed. Now, they do not have a lot of seating and you will be sitting by strangers more than likely. If that is not your thing, again, don't dine here. You put your order in on the big screens by the door. You can pick from various soups with or without broth. You pick your toppings, which mostly range from $1.99-$5.99. Now the main thing I don't like is that you can only pick 4 toppings per bowl. They also have apps, drinks, and desserts you can pick from as well. Once you place the order, try to find you a seat. Wait for your name to be called, and then you will go up and make your ramen. The workers instruct you on what to do, so this part is easy but fun if you like to have interactive food experiences. I enjoyed this part. Plus I love instant ramen. I was ready. Both ramens I've tried were delicious. I got seafood ramen each time but tried two different ones. I added shrimp, green onions, extra veg flakes and an egg to my ramen. I plan to try new toppings next time. I personally think the ramen is delicious and I like the additions you can add. I wish they would allow up to 6 toppings though but I can understand the need for a max limit. The place is cute with the ramen all over the wall. I think it would kind of make this place cooler if you could pick your actual ramen off the wall first, take it to the register to order and then make your ramen. But the wall ramen is for decor only! Both times I had pretty fast service. While me and my friends were eating, the line was getting pretty long and ppl were essentially just waiting for ppl to finish their food before they could even be seated to make theirs. They need more seating plain and simple, especially since this isn't really a place you can take the food to go. I hope they can make some tweaks to allow for more seating and possibly adding more toppings. This place is fun if you want to try different prepackaged ramens without buying a whole package. The only thing that I could say I didn't really enjoy is that after you order your ramen on the little kiosk you then have to make it yourself at a station. If there are multiple people there which there was when I was there you would have to wait until they were done cooking their own. I'm so conflicted while writing this review because in concept, it's so cute and the experience itself is quite fun...up until the point you realize you've waited an hour to pay $15 to make a ~$1 ramen and it took you approximately 10 minutes to eat. It's a really gimmicky concept that I unfortunately fell for, but I think it would've worked if they didn't upcharge their ingredients/ramen so much. You don't feel as bad about yourself...although you definitely will still feel bad. Every ramen is around $4-6 (I believe) for the package itself, which I think is alright. The issue I have is the fact that they charge so much for their extra ingredients especially when some of them should be free. For example, a better business model might be to charge everyone $4-6 for the ramen + two or three free sides. You can't eat ramen just plain. Everyone knows that. I personally added cheese, green onion, dumplings, and kimchi...which got me to a grand total of ~$15. That's about the same price as a bowl of Japanese ramen or udon, LOL. That's also more than the price of a tofu soup in every Carrollton restaurant. The workers are super nice and helpful, but the actual concept of having only 4-5 people cook their ramen at a time and everyone sits down in chairs to watch them and wait for their own orders... it doesn't work. Either add more cooking machines + seating AND/OR decrease their prices. I don't know. I personally would never come back but I can see the appeal of being curious and wanting to come try it out...but like another Yelper said, save your curiosity and go buy an actual bowl of ramen/udon/noodle soup. You won't have to wait as long and chances are, you'll be paying less too. read more

For what it is (instant ramen) it's definitely worth checking out. You order at a kiosk and the wait time is usually 30mins to an hour. The kiosk will tell you the wait time prior to ordering. There's a wait b/c they only have 6 hot plates to boil the ramen. We waited about 35 for ours and it takes around 5-6mins to make. The staff is super friendly and helps you if needed. Absolutely LOVED this awesome Korean Ramyun concept that's down the street from H-Mart! Super fun experience, good food and cool atmosphere. So glad that we found this hidden gem! It's located on the corner of a little strip mall and can be easy to miss, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled. The location itself is bright and open. They have some fun decor like the ramyun walls with all the different packets lined up, super fun for photo ops, as well as another wall covered in noodles. There are a few big long tables and communal seating. Service was quick and the gentleman that helped us was super patient and friendly! As you enter, you're met with a pair of kiosks, where you place your order. They have a wide variety of noodles, both with and without broth. Most are spicy, though there are a few mild options, as well as Chapagetti. Next you pick your add-ons, up to 4 per bowl. You also have a selection of other fun sides like regular or spicy tuna kimbap, deep fried fish cake in several flavors, Man Doo and Hodduk (brown sugar or cinnamon flavored). They also have some fresh lemonades as well as canned sodas and milk drinks. For my ramyun, I picked Jin Jjampong, a spicy seafood broth flavored noodle. I added woodear mushroom, extra flakes-seafood flavor, shrimp and green onion. My daughter and fiancé both got Buldak noodles with sausage, green onion and hard boiled eggs. We also ordered an original Fish Cake, an order of Man Doo and a brown sugar Hodduk. For drinks, we got a banana milk, a strawberry milk and a Milkis. There is a service counter with a row of self-serve, automated ramen machines that they will call you up to when it's your turn. Now comes the fun part! (Besides eating them of course) You'll be given a tray with the ramyun packet you picked, a separate cardboard bowl, as well as all your add-ins. The gentleman then instructs you to open your packets, add the noodles and appropriate seasonings into the bowl with your extras, then place the bowl in the circle on the machine. He presses a button and the perfect amount of hot water is dispensed into the bowl. The next button he pushes activates induction cooking(there is a circle of metal paper in the bottom of the cardboard bowl which is what makes the induction cooktop work). The ramyun then begins to boil and cook, with a timer countdown and automatic shut-off. It's truly incredible seeing the broth boil away in a cardboard bowl!! If you got a stir-fried noodle, staff will help you drain your noodles before returning them to the bowl for you to add your seasonings. After your ramyun is done cooking, you're free to find a seat and enjoy your fully customized noodles! The sides were all delicious! My daughter especially liked the fish cake more than she thought she would (I already knew I'd love it!). Man Doo wasn't mind blowing, but it wasn't terrible either. Hodduk was very tasty, perfect amount of chewy sweetness, an excellent way to end the meal. Was this the most refined, gourmet, high-end ramyun? No. Was it wonderfully delicious, satisfying and a unique, fun experience? Absolutely! We thoroughly enjoyed everything about The Ramyun Library and will definitely be back every time we are in the area to go to H-Mart!
